NFL’s 2025 international games announced, but did the Bills make the cut?

The Buffalo Bills won’t play an international game in 2025.

The NFL announced their full international slate of games for the 2025 on Tuesday morning ahead of the larger schedule release on Wednesday. The Buffalo Bills had four potential options to play as the away team in an international game, but did not make the cut.

In Week 1, the Los Angeles Chargers will host a team TBD in Brazil. The Bills aren’t on LA’s schedule, so we know it won’t be Buffalo.

On Sunday, September 29th, the Pittsburgh Steelers host the Minnesota Vikings in the first game in Dublin, Ireland. The Bills play at Pittsburgh but it clearly won’t be that weekend.

The Vikings stay in Europe and head to London the following week for a game against the Cleveland Browns October 5th. Like Pittsburgh, the Bills play at Cleveland but we can eliminate that weekend.

The following Sunday the New York Jets host the Denver Broncos on October 12th. The Bills won’t play the Jets that weekend and won’t head to London to play their divisional foes.

The Los Angeles Rams square off against the Jacksonville Jaguars the following week in London on October 19th.

After a late October break, the NFL returns to Europe on November 9th in Berlin, Germany, where the Atlanta Falcons play the Indianapolis Colts.

The final game where Buffalo could have been the opponent in November 16th, when the Miami Dolphins host the Washington Commanders in Madrid, Spain.

The last time the Bills played overseas, they sleep-walked their way to a loss against the Jaguars and lost Matt Milano for the rest of the season on a broken leg. Add in the 9:30 a.m. Eastern start time for those games, and I think most Bills fans are happy the Bills’ name didn’t get called.

Here’s the Buffalo Bills’ 2025 NFL regular-season schedule

AFC Divisional Playoffs: Baltimore Ravens v Buffalo Bills

Check out when and where the Bills will be playing during the 2025 NFL regular season

The Buffalo Bills’ 2025 NFL schedule has finally been released, and we have all the details about the when and where of the each of the team’s 17 regular-season games will take place. It’s the Bills’ final season at what began life as Rich Stadium in 1973 — better-known today as Highmark Stadium. Bills Mafia will have plenty of opportunity early in the regular season to see quarterback Josh Allen and company send the 52-year-old stadium off in style.

This season, the Bills are scheduled to play five standalone, primetime games. Buffalo will play a pair each under the Prime Video lights of Thursday Night Football (TNF) as well Sunday Night Football on NBC, with one appearance as part of this season’s Monday Night Football slate on ESPN.

Of note is the fact that Buffalo cannot be flexed into an additional TNF matchup during the 2025 season since they are already scheduled to play two Thursday games. Their lone appearance on MNF once again finds the team sharing the airwaves with another game as part of a MNF double-header (of which there are three such weeks in 2025). As of publishing, we don’t know what time Buffalo will take the field — it could be the early 7 p.m. EDT matchup on ESPN, as the Chicago Bears vs. Washington Commanders game is an ABC-exclusive event.

The Bills are also scheduled to make four “America’s Game of the Week” appearances in the 4:25 p.m. EST window this coming season. Buffalo’s opponents in those games are a pair of AFC North rivals in the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals, plus games against both teams from Super Bowl LIX in the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs.

Adding all those matchups mentioned above and the Bills have eight scheduled nationally televised games in 2025. For those planning ahead, Buffalo’s bye week will come five weeks earlier in 2025 compared to last season. Take a peek below to see more details about Buffalo’s upcoming schedule.

What games are you looking forward to most this season — and which will you be attending? Does anything about this year’s schedule surprise you?

Thoughts, analysis, and observations of the Buffalo Bills’ 2025 schedule

NFL: AFC Championship-Buffalo Bills at Kansas City Chiefs

Mark J. Rebilas-Imagn Images

Thoughts, analysis, and observations of the Buffalo Bills’ schedule this year.

The Buffalo Bills will open their 2025 NFL season on Sunday Night Football, hosting the Baltimore Ravens in a rematch of last year’s AFC Divisional Round game, which saw the Bills prevail 27-25.

The game also features the NFL’s last two MVPs in Bills quarterback Josh Allen and Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, and kicks off a stretch where Buffalo has four of its five primetime clashes in the season’s first six weeks.

Today’s edition of Buffalo Rumblinks leads off with thoughts and analysis on the Bills schedule for the upcoming season.

Buffalo Bills’ 2025 schedule released

Among the highlights of Buffalo’s 2025 schedule: The Bills will play in primetime five times, open the season with four of their first five games at home, play at least seven games at 1 p.m ET, have two Thursday Night Football games, and will take on five playoff teams after their Week 7 bye.

Following the home-heavy portion of the schedule, Buffalo travels to face the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football in Week 6 before its early bye week. It is one of the team’s eight scheduled nationally televised games in 2025.

Buffalo has a great chance to get off to a fast start. After the Ravens clash, the Bills will face six straight opponents that missed the playoffs last year, with those teams combining to post a 35-67 record in 2024.

The Bills will be on the road for six of their nine games between Week 8 and Week 16 before closing the regular season with home games against the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles and New York Jets. It’s fitting the Bills’ final regular-season home game at Highmark Stadium will feature the Jets, who were Buffalo’s opponent in the first-ever game played when the stadium opened in 1973.

Predicting how the Bills will fare this year

It’s never too early to offer up thoughts on how the Bills will fare in each of their games this year as Buffalo looks for its sixth consecutive AFC East divisional title.

Former Buffalo Bills TE signs with Jacksonville Jaguars

San Francisco 49ers v Buffalo Bills

Morris and the Jaguars agreed to terms on Wednesday, May 14

Former Buffalo Bills tight end Quintin Morris has signed an unrestricted free-agent deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports was first to break the news that Morris found a new landing spot in Duval County courtesy of a one-year deal. Terms of the contract agreement were not available at publishing.

Morris, now 26 years old, was a plus-athlete at tight end for Buffalo’s offense, but opportunity and playing time were always the biggest challenges for Morris. He had carved out a spot at third behind co-starting tight ends Dawson Knox (Round 3 pick in 2019 NFL Draft) and Dalton Kincaid (Round 1 pick in 2023 NFL Draft). When called upon, Morris delivered, providing a reliable set of red zone hands for quarterback Josh Allen over the course of three seasons.

Entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Bowling Green, Morris is built for contact and excels as a blocker in both the run and pass game. In three seasons and four starts in 45 game appearances with the Bills, Morris caught 15 passes (on 22 targets) for 146 yards with three touchdowns (per Pro Football Reference).

There was speculation earlier this spring that Buffalo might try to re-sign Morris despite the team not tendering him during the offseason. Prior to the 2025 new league year, Morris was a restricted free agent, becoming an unrestricted free agent once the NFL calendar began anew.

Game-by-game prediction of the Bills schedule

Let’s start here: I am very high on the Buffalo Bills in 2025. They’re addressed their major weaknesses and young players are coming into their own. Buffalo has depth at ket positions all over the roster. I don’t think I’m a home when I say the Bills have a better roster than the one they took to the AFC Championship Game and their offensive and defensive coordinators both have one year of experience under their belts.

Week 1: Sunday, Sept. 7 vs. Baltimore Ravens, 8:20 p.m., NBC

During the playoffs this past season, the Bills beat the Ravens as much as Baltimore beat themselves. Their option game was deadly in the Wild Card round but they put it on the shelf against Buffalo and they took their foot off the Derrick Henry express for some reason. I don’t anticipate that happening again when Baltimore has a chance to reset their thinking for Week 1. I think Baltimore easily wins this game riding a fresh Henry against a depleted Bills front four without Larry Ogunjobi and Michael Hoecht. Prove me wrong, fellas. RESULT: Bills loss (0-1)

Week 2: Sunday, Sept. 14 at New York Jets, 1 p.m., CBS

If they can’t bounce back with a win over the Jets and Justin Fields with a brand new roster in Jersey, it’s going to be a long season. RESULT: Bills win (1-1)

Week 3: Thursday, Sept. 18 vs. Miami Dolphins, 8:15 p.m., Amazon

The Buffalo Bills don’t often lose to Miami, and the duo of Sean McDermott and Josh Allen have the Dolphins’ number on both sides of the ball. It’s in Buffalo with the second-straight lubed up crowd that had all day to party in the lot. RESULT: Bills win (2-1)

Week 4: Sunday, Sept. 28 vs. New Orleans Saints, 1 p.m., CBS

A must-win game against a team with a new head coach, no quarterback, and a cap-strapped roster. RESULT: Bills win (3-1)

Week 5: Sunday, Oct. 5 vs. New England Patriots, 8:20 p.m., NBC

I love this game as a measuring stick for the Patriots’ young roster. I don’t expect Stefon Diggs to be fully healthy, but New England is stacking some very good offseason decisions. They aren’t quite ready to hand under the big lights. RESULT: Bills win (4-1)

Week 6: Monday, Oct. 13 at Atlanta Falcons, 7:15 p.m., ESPN

A really fun road game for Bills fans on the day many folks have off of work, I expect there will be a lot of blue and red in the ATL. Michael Penix is a wild card here who could will the Falcons to a victory, but there will be a few weeks of tape on him by now. I think this is a fun game, and one where Buffalo may need to outscore on offense rather than stifle on defense. RESULT: Bills win (5-1)

Week 7: Bye Week

I really wish this was later in the year, but if they get to the bye at 5-1 with three divisional wins already, they’ll be in really good position. Install for KC starts now.

Week 8: Sunday, Oct. 26 at Carolina Panthers, 1 p.m., FOX

Carolina is going to be better this year and I think Bryce Young is ready to take a step in the right direction. They can’t hang with the Bills, but they won’t be doormats. RESULT: Bills win (6-1)

Week 9: Sunday, Nov. 2 vs. Kansas City Chiefs, 4:25 p.m., CBS

The Bills host the Chiefs in the regular season again. Kansas City has a brutal opening schedule with a divisional game in Brazil, the Super Bowl champs, the Ravens, and Lions in the first six weeks. Kansas City will also be on a rest deficit AND traveling for this game after playing the Commanders on Monday night. Between all that and Buffalo’s bye, I think the Bills are more ready to play than Kansas City. RESULT: Bills win (7-1)

Week 10: Sunday, Nov. 9 at Miami Dolphins, 1 p.m., CBS

November in Miami shouldn’t be too bad for the heat. Miami is coming off a mini-bye after the Ravens on Thursday night, so they’ll be ready and champing at the bit. If the Dolphins have a chance to beat the Bills, it doesn’t get a lot better than this one. I do not trust Miami’s offensive line to get the job done against Buffalo’s mix of young players and fresh veterans. I flip-flopped on this result multiple times, but the Bills always have some midseason faceplants. RESULT: Bills loss (7-2)

Week 11: Sunday, Nov. 16 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 1 p.m., CBS

The Bucs are so plucky and Mike Evans is so freaking good. Their defense ultimately can’t keep up with Buffalo and the Bills win a high-scoring affair. RESULT: Bills win (8-2)

Week 12: Thursday, Nov. 20 at Houston Texans, 8:15 p.m., Amazon

The way the Houston Texans approached this offseason made no sense to me and is the opposite of the Bills. They have a receiver coming off a devastating injury and lost Stefon Diggs, replacing him with Christian Kirk. They traded away their best offensive lineman and replaced him with a guy in Cam Robinson that’s been a huge red flag. They’re got a defense you have to respect, but that offense is held together by duct tape. Maybe by this point in the season Tank Dell will be close enough to 100% to be scary, but I’ll have to wait and see it. RESULT: Bills win (9-2)

Week 13: Sunday, Nov. 30 at Pittsburgh Steelers, 4:25 p.m., CBS

The Steelers have this awesome pass rush and it didn’t matter for one second last year. The Bills have invested in their offensive line and it shows plus they’ve had great luck in the health department. If the Bills can protect Josh Allen, they can put enough points on the board to beat whoever is under center for the Steelers. RESULT: Bills win (10-2)

Week 14, Sunday, Dec. 7: vs. Cincinnati Bengals, 4:25 p.m., FOX

Like the Texans, the Bengals make zero sense to me. This game could be 52-48 by the end of it, because the Bengals defense is so sus. They haven’t really upgraded their defense outside of a new play-caller and their best defender is pissed at them without a contract. Cincy has some of the best playmakers in the NFL in their offense but no protection. The Bengals can no doubt put up enough points to win a shootout, but one of these weak points will give way against Buffalo, just like it did in so many Bengals games last year. RESULT: Bills win (11-2)

Week 15: Sunday, Dec. 14 at New England Patriots, 1 p.m., CBS

A late-season trip to New England!? You don’t say. I think this is the week the Bills sew up the division and show the Patriots they are still number two. RESULT: Bills win (12-2)

Week 16: Sunday, Dec. 21 at Cleveland Browns, 1 p.m., CBS

Who is going to be starting QB for Cleveland by this point? Their record is going to be terrible, so it could be one of the rookies. Regardless, this is a team starting over with an aging offensive line. Buffalo needs to put them down. RESULT: Bills win (13-2)

Week 17: Dec. 28 vs. Philadelphia Eagles, 4:25 p.m., FOX

With a loss to the Ravens, the Bills probably have not sewn up the one seed at this time, so they’ll be playing their starters. Philly has the Commanders in their division and several teams at the top of the NFC they’ll be fighting. Some people are worried this game could be backups on the field, but I’m not one of them. The last time they played, Josh Allen’s offense took the lead twice after the two-minute warning and the defense surrendered game-tying and game-winning scores. I think it’s at Buffalo so the Bills win, but I am not confident about it and honestly I’d prioritize getting healthy and saving tricks in my toolbox for the Super Bowl over winning this game if it came down to it. RESULT: Bills win (14-2)

Week 18: Jan. 3-4, vs. New York Jets, TBD

The Ravens are going to lose some games this year against a brutal schedule. With the one seed locked up, the Bills rest their starters and turn this into a farewell party for Highmark Stadium. They lose to a Justin Fields team that has a lot to play for in order to secure future jobs. RESULT: Bills loss (14-3)

With this result, the Bills get to host at least one more playoff game at the old stadium. Wouldn’t it be cool if they got to host the AFC Championship Game that sent Buffalo back to the Super Bowl? They might save a lot of the cost of tearing it down...

Buffalo Bills will close their stadium against the same team that opened it

New York Jets v Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills and New York Jets will play the last regular-season game at the team’s stadium in Orchard Park.

When the 2025 Buffalo Bills schedule was announced, there were a bunch of dates fans circled for one reason or another. In the final season at the team’s stadium, the final regular-season game in the history of the stadium (and perhaps the final game if Buffalo can’t win a sixth straight division title) will be played in January 2026.

The opponent for that game is the New York Jets, and while they may not be a sexy pick for a celebration, it’s appropriate. The first opponent the Bills played in Orchard Park was the New York Jets back in September 1973. They’ll provide the bookends for Rich Stadium turned Ralph Wilson Stadium turned New Era Field turned Bills Stadium turned Highmark Stadium.

The Bills and Jets have played 49 regular-season games against the Jets at the stadium now called Highmark Stadium, so this game will be the 50th. Buffalo is 29-20 against the Jets in that time frame. It’s the most wins against a single team in the stadium.

The Bills released a Farewell Season patch to commemorate the last ride before they move across the parking lot to the new stadium that is currently under construction. Several more events are being planned for the long goodbye.

There's no place like home.

Our Farewell Season at Highmark Stadium is going to be special: https://t.co/bi2qzbkTqO pic.twitter.com/g30GB84lAV

— Buffalo Bills (@BuffaloBills) May 13, 2025

For the record, the Bills won that opening game 9-7 after the Jets scored a touchdown with two seconds left to avoid the shutout.

If the Bills have their playoff spot secured by kickoff, this could be more of a sentimental goodbye than a raucous on-field affair, especially if they’ve secured their division already and another home game is secured in the process.

Buffalo Bills’ 2025 preseason schedule reveals surpises

The Bills will prep for the 2025 regular season against a trio of NFC teams

Lost in the shuffle of the Buffalo Bills2025 regular-season schedule release was the news about the upcoming preseason. Admittedly, preseason football is the opposite of exciting, serving as a warm-up for all parties involved. But this season’s slate of games will hold special meaning for those in Bills Mafia attending the home scrimmage.

That’s right, there’s just one home preseason game in 2025. Though it’s yet to be designated such, you can bet that the Bills’ lone home scrimmage in Week 1 of the preseason will be the final “Kids’ Day” event at the original Highmark Stadium.

It’s a fitting opponent for the event, with the New York Giants and all their One Bills Drive ties coming to Orchard Park, NY in August. Dates for all three scrimmages have not been announced yet, but we know that Buffalo hits the road for their two additional preseason tilts: Week 2 at the Chicago Bears, and Week 3 at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Bills welcome the Buccaneers to Highmark Stadium later in the regular season for a Week 11 1 p.m. EST game on November 16, to be aired on Fox.

Will you be making the trek to see one more summer preseason game at the Bills’ current home?

Bills’ front-loaded AFC East schedule brings opportunity and challenge

NFL: San Francisco 49ers at Buffalo Bills

Mark Konezny-Imagn Images

A quick start will be needed for Buffalo to achieve the sixth consecutive divisional title.

As the Buffalo Bills gear up for the 2025 NFL season, their schedule presents a unique dynamic with a front-loaded AFC East divisional slate. With four of their six AFC East games packed into the first 10 weeks, including three in the opening five weeks, the Bills face a critical early stretch that could shape their pursuit of a sixth consecutive division title.

Looking at the 2025 schedule details, and focusing on the divisional battles, today I’ll explore the advantages and disadvantages of this early divisional gauntlet and its potential impact on Buffalo’s season.

The 2025 Schedule: AFC East Games Up Front

The Bills’ early divisional matchups:

The front-heavy divisional schedule contrasts with the Bills’ later weeks, where only two AFC East games (Week 15 at New England, and Week 18 hosting the Jets) remains. The bulk of these games being very early, particularly the first three in five weeks, sets the stage for a high-stakes opening act for Buffalo’s 2025 campaign.

Advantages of a front-loaded AFC East schedule

Syndication: Democrat and Chronicle
Tina MacIntyre-Yee/Democrat and Chronicle / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images

Early momentum in the division

A strong start against AFC East foes could give the Bills a commanding lead in the division race. With four divisional games before mid-November, Buffalo has a chance to take the divisional lead and never look back. The Bills have dominated the AFC East, winning five straight titles.

Last season’s 13-4 record showed Buffalo’s ability to handle divisional opponents decisively. Sweeping or winning most of these early games could demoralize the Dolphins, Jets, and Patriots — all of which are projected to be less competitive than Buffalo this season.

Favorable early matchups

The Bills’ early AFC East opponents face their own challenges. The Jets, with a new head coach and general manager, are in transition and may struggle to gel early. Miami’s offense hinges on quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s health, but also on Tyreek Hill’s big-play ability at wide receiver. If the first shouldn’t be a big problem for them early in the season, the latter is a big question mark, with Hill consistently facing off-field problems and already stating his wish to leave the team.

New England, which should look improved under Mike Vrabel, relies on young quarterback Drake Maye, who is likely not yet ready to out-duel Josh Allen. Buffalo’s continuity, with an intact offensive line and Allen’s MVP-caliber play, plus the punctual additions via free agency and draft, positions them to exploit these vulnerabilities.

Late-season flexibility

With only two divisional games after Week 10, the Bills can focus on tougher non-divisional opponents like the Kansas City Chiefs (Week 9), Philadelphia Eagles (Week 17), and AFC North teams later in the season. A secured divisional lead by midseason could allow Buffalo to take on New England in Week 15 without much of a battle for the division left.

The Bills could also rest starters in Week 18 against the Jets if the AFC East is locked up, and if the AFC’s one seed is already secured or out of reach. With an early Bye (Week 7), reserving energy for a playoff push and counting on a second bye in Week 18 might be critical for the team’s success.

Home-field advantage early

Two of the first three AFC East games (Miami in Week 3 and New England in Week 5) are at Highmark Stadium, where Buffalo was unbeaten last season, with Bills Mafia creating an awesome atmosphere. Early home games could help Buffalo capitalize on crowd energy and good weather, particularly in the September and October matchups.

Disadvantages of a front-loaded AFC East schedule

NFL: Miami Dolphins at Buffalo Bills
Mark Konezny-Imagn Images

Early pressure and lack of rhythm

Playing four divisional games in 10 weeks, including a short-week Thursday night game in Week 3, leaves little room for error. Divisional games are always intense, and a stumble — such as an upset by the Jets or a resurgent Patriots — could put Buffalo in an early hole. The quick turnaround for the Dolphins game on Thursday Night Football after a road trip to New York could make the preparation tricky, especially if injuries emerge early.

Improved divisional rivals

While the Bills are favored, their AFC East rivals have seemingly made strides. New England’s offseason overhaul, including Vrabel’s leadership and a strong draft class, makes them a potential Wild Card threat. Miami’s draft picks, like defensive tackle Kenneth Grant, aim to bolster their physicality, a big-time weakness exploited by the Bills in the recent matchups. The Jets could be unpredictable with new coaching and quarterback Justin Fields. If these teams start fast, Buffalo’s divisional dominance could be tested.

Late-season vulnerability

The two late divisional games, in Week 15 at New England and then in Week 18 versus the Jets, could become crucial. If the Patriots, led by Maye, improve as the season progresses, they might pose a significant challenge in Foxborough, especially if Buffalo is banged up from a tough two-game stretch against AFC North teams.

A loss here could complicate tiebreakers if the division race tightens. If that’s the case, the Week 18 game versus the Jets could become a win-or-go-home situation. That’s a scenario no one’s taking too seriously right now, but which could become reality in if the divisional title isn’t secured. The battle for AFC Wild Card spots has been challenging recently.

Final thoughts

Buffalo Bills v New England Patriots

The front-loaded AFC East schedule is a double-edged sword. To maximize the advantages, the Bills must lean on their basics, executing on both sides of the ball with minimal mistakes, and obviously counting on Josh Allen’s elite play and head coach Sean McDermott’s steady leadership to secure early wins.

Allen, the reigning MVP, is the X-factor, capable of carrying a young and still-unproven receiving corps. The run game's success also eases the burden. However, McDermott’s history of questionable decisions in big games raises concerns about navigating this early gauntlet flawlessly. If he can do it, it might be a good sign toward envisioning the playoffs ahead.

With the toughest opponents as home games, Buffalo must avoid complacency. Those teams certainly can beat the Bills on their home field, which would make the supposed easier away games, and especially the divisional games, trickier.

Underestimating improved rivals like New England could mean trouble. The Bills’ favorable overall schedule (fifth-easiest per Sharp Football Analysis) provides a sense of tranquility, but divisional losses could erase that edge, especially with tiebreakers looming.

The Bills’ front-loaded AFC East schedule in 2025 offers a golden opportunity to cement their divisional dominance early, taking advantage of their talent, home-field advantage, and rivals’ uncertainties. However, the intensity of early divisional games, combined with the risk of upsets, demands precision and resilience.

If Buffalo can navigate this early gauntlet with a 3-1 or 4-0 divisional record, they’ll be well-positioned for another AFC East crown and a deep playoff run. But any missteps could give revitalized rivals hope, making the opening weeks an important chapter in the Bills’ road to Super Bowl LX.

Assessing the opposing quarterbacks on the Bills’ schedule

AFC Divisional Playoffs: Baltimore Ravens v Buffalo Bills

There are some big dogs on the schedule this year.

The NFL regular season is approaching fast and the Buffalo Bills are coming in with lofty expectations. After falling to the Kansas City Chiefs once again in the postseason, fans are left asking themselves if this will be the year Buffalo gets over the hump. The difference this season is that they have the reigning MVP in Josh Allen. However, looking at the schedule it will not be an easy task. Especially if you are looking at the quarterbacks the team will be facing.

You can make an argument that the top five quarterbacks in the league will all be playing at Highmark Stadium this season. Of course, we have Allen under center but on the opposite side of the field the Bills will be playing host to Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Super Bowl champion Jalen Hurts, and Joe Burrow. That alone is a star-studded lineup where hopefully the home crowd gives Buffalo an advantage.

When you look at the numbers from last season, it does not get any better. They are facing the top three quarterbacks in touchdowns thrown last season (Burrow, Jackson, and Baker Mayfield) while facing seven quarterbacks who completed at least 65% of their passes.

A bright spot looking at the teams Buffalo is facing is that there is a portion of teams who will be rolling out new quarterbacks this season. The New Orleans Saints, New York Jets, Atlanta Falcons, Cleveland Browns, and Pittsburgh Steelers will all have new faces under center compared to their week 1 starter from last season.

With Bobby Babich in charge of the defense for his second year now, it will be interesting to see how the defense handles facing these high caliber quarterbacks. Especially since the key to beating them will be getting pressure up front, which is the area of weakness for the Bills in the past.

Buffalo Bills 2025 schedule and quarterback opponents

Week 1: Sunday, Sept. 7 vs. Baltimore Ravens, 8:20 p.m., NBC

Lamar Jackson was named first-team All-Pro and finished second in the MVP voting in 2024. He’s a two-time NFL MVP, three-time first-team All-Pro, and a four-time Pro Bowler and led the NFL in passer rating in 2024.

Week 2: Sunday, Sept. 14 at New York Jets, 1 p.m., CBS

Justin Fields was the 11th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears. He went 4-2 as the starter for the Steelers in 2024, with a 65.8% completion percentage, five passing touchdowns and one interception, five rushing touchdowns, while averaging 184 yards passing per start.

Week 3: Thursday, Sept. 18 vs. Miami Dolphins, 8:15 p.m., Amazon

Tua Tagovailoa led the NFL in passing yards in 2023 and passer rating in 2022. He had the highest completion percentage in the NFL in 2024. The former fifth overall pick also deals with injuries, but an early season matchup means they are likely to see him.

Week 4: Sunday, Sept. 28 vs. New Orleans Saints, 1 p.m., CBS

Derek Carr just abruptly retired. They drafted Tyler Shough 40th overall in April and have 2024 fifth-round pick Spencer Rattler.

Week 5: Sunday, Oct. 5 vs. New England Patriots, 8:20 p.m., NBC

Drake Maye is a rising QB in the AFC East after being the third overall pick in 2024. He made a Pro Bowl in his rookie season as an injury replacement. His per-game averages are solid for a young player.

Week 6: Monday, Oct. 13 at Atlanta Falcons, 7:15 p.m., ESPN

Michael Penix Jr. is set to get the nod in Atlanta in his sophomore season after finishing 2024 as the starter, replacing Kirk Cousins. He was the eighth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Week 7: Bye Week

Week 8: Sunday, Oct. 26 at Carolina Panthers, 1 p.m., FOX

Bryce Young really started to click as the 2024 season went on and he replaced Andy Dalton as Carolina’s starter. The former first overall pick has talent, but do the Panthers?

Week 9: Sunday, Nov. 2 vs. Kansas City Chiefs, 4:25 p.m., CBS

Patrick Mahomes has three Super Bowl MVPs, two NFL regular season MVPs, two first-team All-Pro selections and a second-team nod, six Pro Bowl selections, and was the NFL’s passing touchdown leader in 2022. He’s good.

Week 10: Sunday, Nov. 9 at Miami Dolphins, 1 p.m., CBS

If Tagovailoa is injured for this matchup, the Bills will see former Jets first-round Zach Wilson, who has beaten the Bills before.

Week 11: Sunday, Nov. 16 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 1 p.m., CBS

Baker Mayfield was drafted ahead of Josh Allen in 2018, but is on his fourth NFL team. He has two Pro Bowl nods in the last two seasons. He had 41 passing touchdowns in 2024 but also 16 interceptions and 13 fumbles.

Week 12: Thursday, Nov. 20 at Houston Texans, 8:15 p.m., Amazon

C.J. Stroud was the second pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and was named Offensive Rookie of the Year and earned a Pro Bowl that season, but fell off a bit in 2024. with every metric taking a step back in his sophomore season.

Week 13: Sunday, Nov. 30 at Pittsburgh Steelers, 4:25 p.m., CBS

Who is the Steelers QB? Right now it’s Mason Rudolph. If you read it tomorrow it could be Aaron Rodgers.

Week 14, Sunday, Dec. 7: vs. Cincinnati Bengals, 4:25 p.m., FOX

Joe Burrow missed most of the 2023 season with an injury and spent 2024 running for his life behind a suspect offensive line. He very nearly passed for 5000 yards anyway and finished with 43 passing touchdowns, leading the NFL in both categories. He would have been in the MVP race if his defense wasn’t the worst in the NFL.

Week 15: Sunday, Dec. 14 at New England Patriots, 1 p.m., CBS

The Patriots spent the 2024 offseason building around and in front of Drake Maye. By Week 15 in his second NFL season, we should have a pretty good idea if it’s clicking. (I think it will.)

Week 16: Sunday, Dec. 21 at Cleveland Browns, 1 p.m., CBS

The old saying goes if you have two starting quarterbacks, you have zero. Well the Browns have four potential starters, so your guess is as good as mine as to who will be in the lineup by Week 16. Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett are the veteran options with third-round QB Dillon Gabriel and fifth-round QB Shedeur Sanders.

Week 17: Dec. 28 vs. Philadelphia Eagles, 4:25 p.m., FOX

Jalen Hurts is one of the most successful QBs in the NFL. A late-season injury cost him the 2023 NFL MVP, but he was the MVP of the most recent Super Bowl. He’s a two-time Pro Bowlers and second-team All-Pro in 2022.

Week 18: Jan. 3-4, vs. New York Jets, TBD

Justin Fields signed a two-year deal with the Jets then they didn’t draft anyone in April, so it appears they are giving him a one-year runway to earn the starting QB job long term. He doesn’t have any injury guarantees in this 2026 salary, so New York won’t have financial incentive to sit him in Week 18.

Buffalo Bills granted international marketing rights to Canada by NFL

New York Yankees v Toronto Blue Jays

The Buffalo Bills have entered the NFL’s Global Markets Program for the first time.

Until this offseason, only 29 NFL teams had official Global Markets Program deals with the league to help grow the game and the team’s brand internationally. The Buffalo Bills were one of three teams without a country, but were approved for one this week at the NFL Owner’s Meetings.

The Bills have marketing rights in Canada now, unsurprisingly. They are joined by the Arizona Cardinals, Cincinnati Bengals, Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, and Seattle Seahawks. Notably all of those cities except Arizona broadcast over the air directly into Canada on television.

What is the Global Markets Program in the NFL?

This isn’t a direct partnership between the Bills and the country of Canada. It’s just a way for teams to broaden their fan base footprint without running into more competition in the market from too many other NFL teams.

Here is the description from the press release:

Launched in 2022, the Global Markets Program awards NFL clubs international marketing rights to build brand awareness and fandom beyond the U.S., through fan engagement, events, commercial opportunities and NFL Flag development.

The Bills already did some of this within the Toronto market, from adding minority shareholders in the team from the city and participating in some cross-promotional events with the Blue Jays. Now those events can actually use the Bills’ logo among other investments.

Will the Bills play another game in Canada?

This does not mean we’re going to see a return to the Bills Toronto Series any time soon and they definitely won’t be selling home games north of the border. But this could pave the way for the NFL’s expansion into Canadian markets for individual games that could include the Bills.

For instance, the Atlanta Falcons have marketing rights in Germany and they are playing a game there this coming season. The Miami Dolphins are playing in Madrid in 2025 and thet have marketing rights in Spain.

So if the NFL decides to continue expanding their international offerings to a Canadian market, it’s likely the Bills would be on the short list.

What ties do the Bills have to Canada?

The Buffalo Bills go way back in terms of playing games in Canada. In 1961 they scrimmaged the CFL’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats in a game that played one half on American football rules and the other on Canadian football rules. Hamilton won 38-21.

As part of the NFL’s international expansion in the late 1980s, the Buffalo Bills were set to play a preseason game in Toronto but it was canceled. They returned in 1995 to play the Dallas Cowboys in a Super Bowl rematch at SkyDome and again in 1997 to play the Green Bay Packers.

The Buffalo Bills signed over the rights to eight games to be played in Toronto instead of Orchard Park. (The number was later reduced to seven.) One regular-season game for five years and preseason games in every other season of the deal were played at the Rogerts Centre in Toronto from 2008 through 2012. They signed an extension to the deal but that was terminated after one season. The Bills won both preseason games in the building but went 1-5 in the six regular-season games played there.

Buffalo Bills players with Canadian ties

Buffalo Bills tight end Dalton Kincaid is a dual citizen of the United States and Canada. His mother was born in Canada. As part of the NFL’s Heritage program, he wore a Canadian flag on his helmet during a portion of the 2023 season.

Bills wide receiver Josh Palmer was born in Ontario, Canada. He lived there until a sophomore in high school before moving to Florida to pursue an athletic career.

QB Josh Allen has frequently made the trek to Toronto to take batting practice with the Blue Jays, often bringing friends on the roster.

NFL Introduces ‘Protector of the Year’ Award’

San Francisco 49ers v Buffalo Bills

After lobbying from Dion Dawkins, the NFL has given offensive linemen their own prestigious award

Offensive Linemen already shnow who to thank for getting an end-of-year award for their position group. After Buffalo Bills left tackle Dion Dawkins called for a ‘Protector of the Year’ accolade earlier this year, the NFL made it official today and kept the award title that Dawkins conjured.

The award will be voted on by a panel of former and current NFL linemen, which gives it an extra layer of credibility, not relying on media members who may not understand the nuanced impact and skills offensive linemen can possess.

The award seeks to credit the big men up front in the same vein that skill players do at the end of a season. As Dawkins mentioned in January, “all those titles are reflections on the offensive lineman, the protectors.” This award is also bound to impact contract value to those who finish high in voting and be another feather in the cap of a lineman’s Hall of Fame campaign.

All-Pro voting has been controversial for many years now, including the fiasco with quarterback Josh Allen being named NFL MVP despite being a 2nd Team All-Pro — and this award could open the gates to more position-based awards akin to a Golden Glove in Baseball.

Dawkins is a four-time Pro-Bowler and three-time Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee, and he will now be etched in NFL history as the man who brought a yearly honor to life.

Will the Patriots pressure the Bills on strength of their 2025 NFL Draft efforts?

2025 NFL Draft - Round 1

With a new yet familiar head coach and offensive coordinator, the Patriots will try to close the gap on the Bills’ divisional stranglehold.

Well Buffalo Bills fans, we’ve arrived at peak hope season on the NFL calendar. The ebbs and flows of the offseason can be meaningful, especially during the main player acquisition phase that runs from March until the end of the April.

If a team hasn’t done anything in the first few hours of the free-agency negotiating window, the murmurs of disapproval begin in the dark corners of the internet. Conversely, if a team makes a widely approved big splash in the NFL Draft with a consensus player, the optimism for the coming year or years isn’t just restored, but amplified. And between these two polar opposite reactions, there are many other inflection points ranging from detached apathy to mild and optimistic curiosity.

Just a few weeks after the NFL Draft, we reach a point where fan bases (overall) have completely bought into their teams’ draft classes. They’ve watched all the hype videos and seen the behind-the-scenes moments of draft night — that clearly prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the players selected by their team were the ideal and most desired picks at every single spot.

People are ready to believe. But it’s not just Bills Mafia that’s ready. The remainder of the AFC East teams made moves to inspire hope in their respective fan bases as well. Over the next few weeks, we’ll take a look at the draft classes from the New England Patriots, New York Jersey Jets, and Miami Dolphins.

Let’s start with the current AFC East basement dwellers, those Patriots who for so many years behind the arm of Tom Brady tormented Buffalo’s faithful fans.

New England Patriots (4-13 in 2024, 4th in the AFC East)

  • Round 1, Pick 04 - Will Campbell, OT (LSU)
  • Round 2, Pick 38 - Treveyon Henderson, RB (Ohio State)
  • Round 3, Pick 69 - Kyle Williams, WR (Washington State)
  • Round 3, Pick 95 - Jared Wilson, C (Georgia)
  • Round 4, Pick 106 - Craig Woodson, S (California)
  • Round 4, Pick 137 - Joshua Farmer, DT (Florida State)
  • Round 5, Pick 146 - Bradyn Swinson, EDGE (LSU)
  • Round 6, Pick 182 - Andres Borregales, K (Miami)
  • Round 7, Pick 220 - Marcus Bryant, OT (Missouri)
  • Round 7, Pick 251 - Julian Ashby, LS (Vanderbilt)
  • Round 7, Pick 257 - Kobee Minor, DB (Memphis)

The theme for the Patriots this offseason was always going to be two-fold:

  1. Get “Vrabelish” players in the building
  2. Support and build around prospective franchise quarterback Drake Maye

The top of New England’s draft proved that out, providing not just support for their young signal-caller, but also DNA that fits who new head coach Mike Vrabel wants his team to be. Campbell and Henderson are arguably the best pass-blocking players at their respective positions in the draft, with Henderson being one of the best pass-game running backs to come out in the draft in some time.

Third rounder Kyle Williams provides true dynamic X potential in a spot occupied by Kayshon Boutte last year and three-level separation after disappointing pass catching additions last year (Ja’Lynn Polk, Javon Baker). He’ll let newly signed and hopefully healthy Stefon Diggs play more at flanker and in the slot if he’s able to secure a role quickly.

Stalwart center David Andrews needed to be replaced after his 10-year run with the team ended in his release, and the man who took over for Bills’ 2024 draft pick Sedrick Van Pran Granger gets the nod to further the “with the first part of this draft, we focus on supporting Drake Maye” tune. He can compete with “yeah he’s a starter but he’s not safe” free-agent acquisition Garrett Bradbury. Special teams emphasis, a hallmark of Vrabel teams, showed up at the end of the draft class after some length was added to the defensive line with the Farmer and Swinson additions.

With their free-agent haul in tow (DT Milton Williams, LB Robert Spillane, EDGE Harold Landry, WR Mack Hollins, and the previously mentioned Diggs and Bradbury), the Patriots arguably added the most new talent to their team this offseason of any organization in the AFC East. Of course, with the draft capital and cap space they had available, that’s to be expected.

Did the Pats do enough to jump any of the teams who were above them in 2024? Sound off in the comments below!

Bills, Bears to hold joint practices during 2025 NFL preseason

NFL: Chicago Bears at Buffalo Bills

Gregory Fisher-USA TODAY Sports

Tremaine Edmunds and the Bears will welcome old friends to town in August.

The Buffalo Bills are expected to travel to the Windy City for a series of joint practices with the Chicago Bears ahead of their preseason game later this summer. Brad Biggs, who covers the Bears for The Chicago Tribune, shared the news on the heels of finalized 2025 NFL preseason schedules.

While the details for those practices are yet to be revealed, the Bills are set to face the Bears in Chicago on Sunday, August 17 in a preseason primetime matchup at 8 p.m. EDT. Buffalo won’t see the Bears during the regular season, but they’ve become somewhat familiar camp competition for one another in recent seasons.

The Bills hosted Chicago for the 2024 NFL preseason, which was then-rookie quarterback Caleb Williams’ first snaps against a hostile opponent. Williams drew rave reviews in completing four of seven passes for 95 yards before hitting the bench to watch the rest of a 33-6 blowout win by his teammates.

In 2023, Buffalo was in Chicago to take on quarterback Justin Fields and the Bears — a preseason finale that saw the Bills win 24-21 on the strength of quarterback Kyle Allen’s extended play (18 of 34 for 162 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT).

The last time Buffalo and Chicago faced each other in the regular season came on Christmas Eve during the 2022 campaign. That game was historically cold — a Bills regular-season road game record-cold of 9 degrees Fahrenheit — and featured 30-40 mph wind gusts that left the sun-soaked air a brutal -12 degrees at game time.

Having survived initial troubles against Chicago, Buffalo ended up winning the game easily, 35-13, thanks to a dominant second-half performance where they outscored the Bears 29-3. Quarterback Josh Allen was a dual-threat nightmare for Chicago, complementing a run game that put up a total of 254 yards on the strength of running backs Devin Singletary and James Cook. The win allowed the Bills to capture the AFC East division title a third-consecutive time.

Chime in: Which Buffalo Bills would be awesome at Olympics flag football?

2023 NFL Pro Bowl Games

Tell us what you think in the comments.

NFL owners voted this week to allow a limited number of NFL players to participate in flag football at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. I was already excited to see flag football in the biggest games on the planet, so adding the prospect of NFL players to the mix makes it even more fun.

The resolution also needs to be approved by the NFLPA, the International Federation of American Football (IFAF), and “the relevant Olympic authorities to implement rules governing the participation of NFL players in flag football”.

Each participating nation may select one player per NFL team plus any player in the International Pathway Program is eligible on top of the one player. So Josh Allen and James Cook can’t both be on the United States team, as an example, since only one player per team is allowed. With only six teams participating on the men’s side, the most players an NFL team could send will be seven (six players plus the International Pathway Program).

That’s not to say that every spot on the field will be taken by NFL players, Minnesota Vikings linebacker Brian Asamoah told the BBC.

“You can’t just count out the guys that play flag football. I think that’s the tricky thing right there. Just because you’re good at American football doesn’t mean you’re good at flag football, so you have to share that respect.”

Now that we have the news out of the way, let’s speculate about current and former Buffalo Bills that would have been great flag football players or could be for the future.

QB Josh Allen

Allen obviously has a rocket arm and a competitive spirit. Would love to see him chucking to Justin Jefferson.

RB James Cook

Cook is shifty and can catch the ball after making the snap. I’d rather have him that a bigger back like Derrick Henry in this sport.

TE Dalton Kincaid

I think Kincaid has a pretty good shot of playing for the Canadians should they qualify. His mother was born in Canada and he has Canadian citizenship.

WR Khalil Shakir

This is a long shot, but he’s so quick on his feet with great balance. You could do a lot worse than Shakir.

WR Stefon Diggs

Former Bills WR Stefon Diggs has played in the Pro Bowl games at receiver and would have been a natural selection a few years ago. Maybe not anymore after his leg injury and Father Time catching up with him.

WR Lee Evans

underrated due to lackluster QB play during his career, Lee Evans would be deadly on a flag football field.

RB Thurman Thomas

If I am pulling one player off the Bills’ Super Bowl teams, it’s Thurman. The dude was great catching the ball out of the backfield and elusive as heck.

WR James Lofton

With great hands and long speed, I’d go with Lofton over Andre Reed if I am choosing an 80s/90s receiver. Reed’s signature was his toughness over the middle but that’s not really a concern here. Even Don Beebe in this spot as a burner would be cool.

WR Elbert Dubenion

Dubenion’s nickname was “Golden Wheels” because he could fly. Sign me up for a young speedster like Dubenion.

Who ya got, Bills fans? What current or former Bills would you want on your flag football team?
