Bengals uniforms ranked among the NFL’s best

Cincinnati Bengals v Pittsburgh Steelers

Photo by Justin K. Aller/Getty Images

Look good, play good?

Nate Davis of USA Today ranked all uniforms in the NFL, and the Cincinnati Bengals came out near the top. Checking in at No. 8, Davis sees only seven teams with uniform styles better than the Bengals.

The orange and black striped helmet is arguably the best in the league, but adding the White Bengal look was something Davis highlighted.

“They earned beaucoup points (and their first Super Bowl berth) in 1981 when they stopped looking like Browns knock-offs – gross – and literally changed their stripes,” Davis said. “They’ve unnecessarily monkeyed with the jerseys and pants over the years and last season’s monochrome orange debut … nah. But the primary uniform is in a good place, and the white tiger alternates are as good as anyone’s – though that helmet doesn’t actually need to suddenly be mixed into other combinations.”

The Bengals debuted their current uniform in the 2021 season, a year after Joe Burrow’s arrival, and have added the White Bengal, an all-orange design, and orange pants over the last few years, giving them one of the more versatile packages in the league.

With the NFL adding in new alternate uniform slots, the Bengals could be adding even more looks in the near future.

Lemar Parrish, Dave Lapham to be added to Bengals Ring of Honor in 2025

Syndication: The Enquirer

The Enquirer/Ran Cochran via Imagn Content Services, LLC

Congratulations to them both!

On Wednesday morning, the Cincinnati Bengals announced the next two players who will be enshrined on their Ring of Honor will be former cornerback and return specialist Lemar Parrish and former offensive lineman and radio commentator Dave Lapham.

Parrish was a seventh-round pick in 1970 and made an immediate impact for the new franchise. He played for the Bengals for eight seasons before being traded to the Washington Commanders before the 1978 season. He stayed there through 1981 and played the 1982 season for the Bills before retiring.

He finished his career as a three-time First-Team All Pro, a two-time Second-Team All Pro and an eight-time Pro Bowler, with 47 interceptions, 13 fumble recoveries and 13 total touchdowns. He was named to the Bengals’ 40th and 50th Anniversary Teams and should probably be in the Hall of Fame.

“To be selected to join the Ring of Honor means the world to me,” Parrish said in a statement, per Jay Morrison. “As a little boy, I had a dream of becoming the greatest football player in the world. I thank the Bengals and Paul Brown for drafting me and giving me the opportunity to play in the NFL. I appreciate everyone who voted for me. I am pleased and extremely grateful to be selected. This is the most prestigious award that I have ever received, and it means a lot to me.”

The Bengals selected Lapham in the third round of the 1974 draft. He was the starting right guard in 1975 and the starting left guard, next to Anthony Muñoz, when the Bengals went to their first Super Bowl in 1981. He was also named to the Bengals’ 40th and 50th Anniversary Teams, and is likely most familiar to scores of young Bengals fans as the color commentator next to Dan Hoard in the booth for Bengals games on the radio.

“This is without a doubt the highest honor bestowed upon me—the honor of a lifetime,” Lapham said, per Morrison. “I think everyone knows what the Bengals organization means to me. It is extremely humbling to know that the fans selected me to be honored in this fashion. My family and I are extremely grateful to be inducted into the Ring of Honor. It feels like a superlative dream that I have not woken up from yet. I still can’t believe it.”

The ceremony will take place at halftime on the team’s October 26th matchup against the New York Jets in Paycor Stadium.

Congratulations to both Lemar Parrish and Dave Lapham!

Trey Hendrickson contract projection: What should the Bengals expect to pay?

NFL: Cincinnati Bengals at Cleveland Browns

Ken Blaze-Imagn Images

Trey Hendrickson is looking for a new contract from the Bengals. What are the numbers going to look like?

The biggest storyline for the Cincinnati Bengals this offseason hasn’t been a flashy signing or major departure — it’s the lack of clarity surrounding Trey Hendrickson’s contract situation.

Hendrickson has held out the entire offseason in search of a new contract, as he has just one year and $16 million remaining on his current deal.

The 30-year-old pass rusher has been a sack machine over the past two years, posting 35 sacks to go with 89 tackles, 35 tackles for loss, nine batted passes, and five forced fumbles. He’s also single-handedly carried Cincinnati’s pass rush, accounting for 162 pressures over the last two years, easily more than double that of the second-best player on the team.

Last week, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler revealed that the Bengals and Hendrickson ‘are not any further along’ despite resuming extension talks. The dispute is only getting further emphasized with training camp around the corner.

Now, trade rumors are swirling, but the Bengals have a dire need for Hendrickson on defense, which is why an extension is paramount sooner rather than later.

With the edge market continuing to explode, what could a long-term contract for Hendrickson look like?

Baseline numbers for a Trey Hendrickson Bengals contract

The edge rusher market has completely exploded this offseason, with stars like Myles Garrett, Danielle Hunter, Maxx Crosby, and others getting major extensions.

Garrett’s deal topped the pack at four years and $160 million with $123.6 million guaranteed. Hunter received a hefty one-year, $35.6 million extension on top of the two-year, $49 million contract he had signed with the Houston Texans in free agency last offseason.

And Crosby elected for a three-year deal worth $106.5 million, getting $91.5 million guaranteed. That came on top of his four-year, $94 million rookie extension, keeping him in Las Vegas through the 2029 season.

Those are the numbers to look at for Hendrickson, although it’s notable that his age is higher than that of his counterparts, other than Hunter. Outside of the Texans pass rusher, every edge rusher in the Top 15 of average annual value was under 30 years old when signing their last deal.

Hendrickson will be entering his age-31 season, so that massive four-year extension is likely not in the cards.

So, let’s project what that deal will be.

Projecting a Trey Hendrickson contract with the Bengals

The Bengals likely cost themselves significant money by dragging the Hendrickson extension this far along, given how the market has continued to jump this offseason.

Hendrickson seems determined to hold out until his new contract comes in, looking for long-term security and guaranteed money.

At this stage, given his age and where the Bengals stand, a two-year extension may be the most realistic outcome for the two sides. In that outcome, Cincinnati wouldn’t be exposed long-term to an expensive contract for an aging pass-rusher, while Hendrickson would get immediate guaranteed money and become one of the higher-paid edges in the NFL.

Given the shorter-term part of the deal, I think Hendrickson’s annual value would be around or slightly surpass that of Danielle Hunter, given they’re the same age and have similar production.

The guaranteed money would be the big factor. Hunter got $48 million guaranteed of his $55.2 million in cash over the next two years. With Hendrickson, the Bengals can afford a large signing bonus to prorate over three seasons (his current year + 2 extension years) and void years if need be. (Though Cincinnati has not traditionally taken advantage of these salary cap manipulations on deals for other big-name players, so we shall see.)

Projection: 2 years, $72 million, $48 million in total guarantees

New ESPN survey: Ja’Marr Chase is the best WR in the NFL, according to league insiders

Cincinnati Bengals v Dallas Cowboys

Executives, coaches, and scouts had high praise for the Bengals star.

Ja’Marr Chase had a career year last year.

As a result, NFL executives, coaches, and scouts have decided he is the best receiver in the entire league.

In a recent survey by ESPN, league insiders were asked to rank the top 10 players at 11 positions. Chase came in first while his teammate Tee Higgins was an honorable mention.

In the article, Jeremy Fowler wrote that Chase received around 70% of the first place votes after securing just the fifth triple crown of the Super Bowl era.

Fowler quoted “a high-ranking NFL personnel executive” as saying:

“Honestly, it comes down to Chase is a b--- to cover... We are super aware of him and have played him a bunch and been torched by him a bunch.”

The best part? Fowler mentioned that the Bengals think Chase will only get better thanks to “improvements in defensive scheme recognition, attack plans based on coverages and creative route running with different speeds or stems.”

Higgins, meanwhile, finished an honorable mention with one scouting director saying: “I think he would be a 100-catch guy somewhere else. He’s really good. Only thing he doesn’t have is top-end speed.”

Not like Bengals fans didn’t know any of this, but it is nice to get some positive affirmation from the rest of the NFL.

If both Chase and Higgins stay healthy, they should continue to put up big numbers with quarterback Joe Burrow. Re-live some of the best moments from the passing game from last year in the video below.

T.J. Watt gets extended: How it affects the Bengals in multiple ways

Time is ticking... perhaps rapidly.

The Cincinnati Bengals are now on the clock.

No, it’s not NFL Draft season. What it is, though, is time for the Bengals to get moving and put their money where their mouths are.

Pittsburgh Steelers edge rusher T.J. Watt got paid and paid massively on Thursday afternoon, signing a three-year, $123 million contract extension to become the highest-paid non-quarterback on a per-year basis.

Bengals All-Pro edge rusher Trey Hendrickson is seeking a contract extension himself, and he has made it abundantly clear that he will not play on the $16 million deal he is under contract for for the 2025 season.

Hendrickson, like Watt, is 30 years old, and he has 4.5 more sacks than Watt over the last two seasons.

Hendrickson was fined more than $100,000 for skipping the Bengals’ mandatory minicamp in June.

Bengals veterans are due to report to training camp on July 22nd, with training camp starting the next day.

Watt, Myles Garrett, Maxx Crosby, and Danielle Hunter are edge rushers who have all signed contract extensions this offseason.

Joe Burrow has made it adamant that Hendrickson is a need for the Bengals, just as much as Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Mike Gesicki. All three offensive stars got their contract extensions this offseason. There’s only one player left to go in Burrow’s needs, but the clock is ticking.

Speaking of, Chase is no longer the highest-paid non-QB in NFL history in terms of per-year salary, a distinction he earned with his new four-year, $161 million contract extension that includes $112 million in guarantees.

Watt is now averaging $41 million per year but is behind Chase in terms of guaranteed money at $108 million.

Highest paid non-quarterbacks in the NFL:

TJ Watt: $41M
Ja’Marr Chase: $40.25M
Myles Garrett: $40M
Danielle Hunter: $35.6M
Maxx Crosby: $35.5M
Justin Jefferson: $35M
Nick Bosa: $34M
CeeDee Lamb: $34M

Bengals Podcast: Who is Joe Burrow?

Denver Broncos v Cincinnati Bengals

Quarterback gives insight into Burrow the man.

In this 3-part series, we will talk about Netflix’s Quarterback. What did we learn about the man, the myth, the legend Joe Burrow?

Burrow loves playing football, but he doesn’t like how it puts him in the public eye. His business is out there for all of us to see. Unlike my job and your job, millions of people are watching every time he makes a mistake.

He doesn’t like his private life being out there, but in this documentary, it was. We saw a lot of who he is as a competitor on the field and as just a regular guy.

He gets razzed by his friends for wearing “chainmail leather.”

He bleaches his hair like he’s playing rhythm guitar for Nirvana.

When he pops a griddy, he asks his friends how it looked.

And every Monday night, he gets on the sticks with his boys from Athens.

Then there is the other Joe Burrow, the competitor.

This is the guy who hates how it feels to lose and is willing to do whatever it takes not to feel that way. He is addicted to winning.

He thinks conservatively at the beginning of the year, but he gets aggressive when he faces a top offense or top quarterback.

He hates mistakes. He hates mental breakdowns. He doesn’t think screaming and yelling is the answer to those problems.

He loves short weeks because they mean less installation and more execution.

From family brunch with the Chases to Batmobile buyer's remorse, we talk about it all.

NFL executives, scouts, and coaches praise Joe Burrow in 2025 QB rankings

NFL: Cincinnati Bengals Minicamp

Kareem Elgazzar-Imagn Images

The ESPN quarterback rankings are out ahead of 2025 training camp.

It is officially almost football season as the 2025 training camp for the Cincinnati Bengals is just around the corner.

Despite missing the playoffs last season, Joe Burrow had the best year of his career.

Burrow led the league in passing yards (4,918) and passing touchdowns (43) while throwing only nine interceptions.

As the new season approaches, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN has compiled a list of the top ten ranked quarterbacks entering the 2025-26 season, as ranked by NFL executives, coaches, and scouts.

Patrick Mahomes enters and leads the way at number one, to no surprise... But what about the second-ranked QB?

The most recent MVP winner, Josh Allen, enters at number two behind Mahomes.

Burrow comes in at number three behind Mahomes and Allen.

“Burrow makes a compelling case as the game’s most accurate quarterback. His 70.6% completion rate against the backdrop of a league-high 652 attempts in 2024 is impressive. His 11.0% off-target rate is also the lowest among starting quarterbacks,” Fowler wrote.

Although Burrow did not come in at number one, some people believe he is.

“If we’re talking about playing the quarterback position, nobody is playing it better than him,” a veteran AFC scout said. “Footwork, ball placement, the mental game at the line of scrimmage, feel for the pocket, eye level, finding creases to step up and throw — he’s the best right now. And he’s more mobile than he gets credit for.”

The praise didn’t stop there for Burrow.

“I get the guy has two elite wideouts, but their run game was average and the offensive line was not very good either,” an AFC executive said. “On top of all that, their defense was porous, and he kept them in every single game for the most part. I thought it may have been his best year, but it didn’t get the same pub because of the other high-profile teams.”

It is clear that Burrow is one of the most respected players in the league, but the NFL has its favorites, including Allen and Mahomes.

Hopefully, this season, the Bengals' defense can better support their franchise quarterback, allowing him to bring home an MVP award and help Cincinnati return to postseason play.

Bengals place Erick All Jr. and Seth McLaughlin on injury lists

Ohio State v Northwestern

All is expected to miss the season, while McLaughlin is recovering from a torn Achilles.

The Cincinnati Bengals have placed tight end Erick All Jr. on the active/physically unable to perform list and center Seth McLaughlin on the active/non-football injury list, the team announced Saturday.

All, a 2024 fourth-round draft pick, suffered a season-ending ACL tear midway through his rookie season with the Bengals. It was later reported that All was expected to miss the 2025 season due to complications from a previous knee surgery in college at Iowa. That’s why it comes as no surprise to see All land on PUP, as his 2025 season was expected to be over before it ever began.

As for McLaughlin, the undrafted free agent out of Ohio State is recovering from a torn Achilles tendon suffered in November of 2024. He’s expected to be able to play this season, but the Bengals are clearly taking things slow and won’t rush him out there right away.

If healthy, McLaughlin hopes to compete for one of the interior offensive line spots on the 53-man roster, though he’s got an uphill climb to do so if he’s not ready for the start of camp while recovering from surgery.

During his collegiate career at Cincinnati, Ridder set several school records, was a two-time American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year and helped lead the Bearcats to a berth in the College Football Playoff in the 2021 season.
  • Waived G Tashawn Manning. Manning, a first-year player, signed last August to Cincinnati’s practice squad, where he spent the entire 2024 season.

Cincy Jungle in-5 instructions

The goal of the game is to guess the correct Bengals player with the help of up to five clues. We’ll mix in BOTH ACTIVE AND RETIRED PLAYERS. It won’t be easy to figure it out in one or two guesses, but some of you might be able to nail it.

After you correctly guess the player, you can click “Share Results” to share how you did down in the comments and on social media. We won’t go into other details about the game as we’d like your feedback on it. How it plays, what you think of it, the difficulty level, and anything else you can think of that will help us improve this game. You can provide feedback in the comments of this article, or you can fill out this Google Form.

Duke Tobin and Mike Brown say Shemar Stewart needs to be here; Agent fires back

The Bengals' first-round draft pick has still not reported ahead of training camp starting Wednesday.

Cincinnati Bengals first-round draft pick Shemar Stewart has still not reported ahead of training camp starting on Wednesday, and that’s not sitting well with director of player personnel Duke Tobin.

“He’s (Stewart) listening to the advice that he’s paying for,” Tobin said during Monday’s media luncheon. “I don’t understand the advice. I don’t agree with it. I’m not the one paying for it, but that’s where it is.”

In response, Stewart’s agent, Zac Hiller, clapped back at Tobin.

“Duke Tobin has had no involvement in this negotiation,” Hiller told ESPN. “It seems to be above his pay grade.”

Bengals owner Mike Brown also weighed in.

“We’ve been here for a long time, it’s never happened, and that’s holding up this contract,” Brown said of Stewart. “From our vantage point, it’s a form of foolishness. It just ought to get done.”

Bengals rookies reported Saturday, but Stewart was not among them. His absence is due to the Bengals wanting to change the default language in their contracts.

Second-round draft pick, linebacker Demetrius Knight Jr., signed his rookie contract on Saturday and is set to go for camp.

The Bengals' first-round pick is not here in Cincinnati, and he is missing out on valuable reps with what should be his first training camp just two days away.
