Steve Kerr Credits Career Longevity To 1 Warriors Player

Steve Kerr of the Golden State Warriors is viewed as one of the greatest NBA coaches, not just of his generation, but of all time.

But according to him, if it wasn’t for Steph Curry, he could be out of a job.

Kerr recently talked about his star player and said the success has has found as a coach is all because of him.

“If I didn’t have Steph, I would’ve been like every other NBA coach and lasted a few years,” Kerr said, via NBA Retweet.

Kerr came to the Warriors at the start of the 2014-15 season, when the team was right on the verge of true greatness.

That season would be a pivotal one, and by the end of it, they were crowned NBA champions.

Since then, they have won three more championships, and Curry has been at the center of it all.

The NBA is infamous for being cruel and quick with its coaches.

Some men come into the job with so much to prove and high hopes, only to be chewed up and spit out after a season or two of mixed results.

Kerr thinks that would have happened to him if it weren’t for Curry.

The Warriors could have competed without Curry, but they wouldn’t have been nearly as good, and four titles would have been out of reach.

As for Kerr, he would have been blamed for all of that.

Instead of being stranded and written off, Kerr has turned into one of the most celebrated head coaches in league history.

The partnership between these two has been wildly successful, and both men are happy to be involved with each other.

NBA Insider Reveals Big Update About Warriors, Jonathan Kuminga

The Golden State Warriors have been stuck in limbo with Jonathan Kuminga.

The team has been toying with the idea of cutting ties with Kuminga for months, but no solid plan has come together.

Kuminga has grown increasingly frustrated with the lack of movement, and NBA insider Anthony Slater spoke about the situation recently.

He said that both sides have been talking, and a path forward might become clear soon.

“Well, there’s been renewed conversations between the two sides,” Slater said on ESPN’s NBA Today. “There’s dialogue, but as you all know, talking doesn’t necessarily equal movement. They’ve shared contract concepts and opinions about the whole thing between each other this last week, dating back to last weekend. Kuminga wants more of a player-friendly deal, more of a signal that he’s a building block, not a trade asset.”

Kuminga wants a deal that will be good for him and his future, and he doesn’t want to be used as a “pawn” in Golden State’s plans.

He knows that if he agrees to a two-year/$45 million offer from the Warriors, he will likely be shipped off to another team by the midseason trade deadline.

He doesn’t want that, and so the chances of him taking the one-year/$7.9 qualifying offer are growing.

That way, he will be able to control his fate more and be on the lookout for another team when the season comes to an end.

It’s not like Kuminga is a bad player, so some Golden State fans wish the team would just be able to figure out how to use him more.

But it feels like Kuminga will never have a stable and large place on this team, and he should be trying to find ways to create the career he wants at a different location.

Stephen Curry Reveals Honest Thoughts On Warriors’ Offseason Moves

The Golden State Warriors remain the only NBA team that hasn’t made any changes during the offseason.

No big trades, no acquisitions from the buyout market – nothing.

Everyone has noticed their lack of movement, including Warriors superstar Steph Curry.

Curry recently talked about this choice and said that it’s “different,” but he still has faith in his team.

“It’s different for sure. My confidence is built on the identity we were able to create over the last third of the regular season last year. We have a really good team and we do know we need some pieces to help get us to the next level,” Curry said, via Basketball Forever.

So, Curry believes that his team still needs some help, and additional pieces could be coming.

But when will they be arriving?

Everyone expected the Warriors to be more active during the summer, but they have been attached to rumors and nothing more.

It sounds like the big problem here is the Jonathan Kuminga situation.

Kuminga has been looking to part ways with the Warriors and find a team that will give him more minutes on the floor.

So far, nothing has worked out, and now most people assume that he will be back with the Warriors in the new season, even if it’s for a limited time.

Several other stars, such as Al Horford, have been linked to Golden State, but no definitive movement has been made.

Time is running out, and training camp is quickly approaching.

Will the Warriors be able to pull off some deals and get Curry the backup that he wants?

Kevin Durant Wanted Former Warriors Teammate To Win Finals MVP

Kevin Durant’s years with the Golden State Warriors were hugely successful and brought him two championships.

He also received two Finals MVPs during his years with the Warriors, although he didn’t want it that way.

Speaking with “Players Choice,” former Warriors player Quinn Cook claimed that Durant wanted Steph Curry to win the 2018 Finals MVP.

“And to be honest, Kevin wanted Steph to get that Finals MVP the next year so bad. That’s all he was talking about all season, like ‘I can’t wait until Steph gets his Finals MVP’ so he can shut up everybody, the naysayers. But I think in Game 2 [of the Finals], that’s when Steph broke the record, he had nine threes. And then Game 3, we were struggling, Steph was struggling, and Kevin just accidentally walked into 40. And then you just look at the numbers statistically, I think Kevin had a triple-double in Game 4. He wasn’t even as aggressive; that’s just how good he is. He just accidentally got the Finals MVP back-to-back,” Cook said, via NBA Retweet.

It’s shocking to remember that Curry won his only Finals MVP just a few years ago.

There is no doubt that he was a pivotal part of every championship run Golden State had, but he was routinely passed up for that big prize.

Durant won back-to-back Finals MVPs, which is a significant accomplishment.

He did a lot to earn both of them, of course, but some people thought Curry would win the prize.

Durant was one of the people rooting for Curry to claim the trophy, but it wasn’t meant to be.

Thankfully, everyone eventually got what they wanted because Curry received the award a few years ago when the Warriors overtook the Boston Celtics in the Finals.

But if Durant had it his way, Curry would have been honored years before.

Jonathan Kuminga Believes He’s On The Same Level As 2 Promising NBA Stars

The Golden State Warriors and Jonathan Kuminga have been in a stalemate recently, with both sides digging in their heels and unable to move forward on contract negotiations.

There are many reasons for the hold-up, including Kuminga’s view of himself and his skill set.

Ron Kroichick said that Kuminga sees himself as someone comparable to other big-name players in the league.

“He apparently thinks he’s at the Cade Cunningham–Scottie Barnes level, where he should get that type of contract. It’s really a quandary. I think it’s bad for the Warriors and bad for him,” Kroichick said, via NBACentral.

Comparing yourself to a former Rookie of the Year and a Rookie of the Year candidate is a bold move, but that is apparently how Kuminga feels.

However, he needs to be realistic, or else he could put himself in a tough spot with very limited options.

Last season, Kuminga averaged 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists on 45.4 percent from the field.

It was a step down for him, who seemed to be in a better place the year before, earning more points and more minutes.

Last season, he started in just 10 of his 47 games, but started in 46 of his 74 matches in 2023-24.

It’s clear that the Warriors don’t have a lot of space for Kuminga, but he thinks he can do a lot more for them.

He believes he could be the team’s most important player and wants to do as well as Cunningham or Barnes.

But which team will be willing to take him up on that offer, and can he get away from the Warriors?

In all likelihood, he’ll probably sign a short-term deal with Golden State and then contemplate his options before the trade deadline.

Will he find a squad that will give him the minutes and the faith he wants?
