The Golden State Warriors and Jonathan Kuminga have been trying to hammer out a new deal for weeks now, and there has been basically no movement forward.

Both sides have dug in their heels, and the situation is at a standstill.

A new report from Brett Siegel says that negotiations may come to an end soon, and Kuminga will just accept the minor deal offered to him with plans for becoming an unrestricted free agent next summer.

“There haven’t been any indications suggesting that the Warriors are thinking of changing their offer, and unless they do so over the course of the next week, Kuminga is prepared to end talks and accept his qualifying offer, league sources said. At the end of the day, Kuminga wants to feel valued, and the Warriors haven’t given him ample reasons to want to stay,” via Brett Siegel.

It sounds like Kuminga is going to take the one-year deal, but he won’t be happy about it.

He will instead stay with the Warriors for a single season, in hopes of raising his value and becoming an attractive target for next summer’s free agency.

There is a chance that Kuminga and the Warriors are able to mend their relationship, and he becomes a helpful and consistent part of the roster.

If that happens, maybe he will decide to stick with the Warriors next summer and sign a better, long-term contract.

There is also a chance that the Warriors part ways with him before next summer and use him as a trade chip before the deadline in February.

Kuminga still wants bigger and better things for himself and doesn’t think he’ll get them with the Warriors.

He will stay with Golden State, but signing a one-year, qualifying offer means that he has his sights set on future moves.

Pat Beverley Has High Praise For Stephen Curry

Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors truly is in a league all his own when it comes to shooting.

Other players may try to be like him, but they don’t come close.

It’s not just fans and analysts who feel this way, because professional basketball players hold the same opinion.

Patrick Beverley talked about comparisons to Curry and said that “no one is close” to the Warriors superstar.

“No one’s like him. Let’s get that clear. No one’s like him at all. No one would even be close to him. It’s no one close to him. He’s the best shooter to ever touch the ball. No one is ever close to him. You can ask any basketball player,” Beverley said.

Beverley did add that Fred VanVleet of the Houston Rockets has a “resemblance” to Curry, but even he isn’t near Curry and his incredible shooting abilities.

Although he’s not in the league right now, Beverley spent years in the NBA and got to see Curry’s powers up close, often.

He knows just how hard it is to defend the Warriors’ star because he can shoot from just about anywhere.

It doesn’t matter if it’s in the paint or from far beyond the three-point line; Curry has an uncanny skill to sink the ball.

Last season, Curry averaged 24.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 6.0 assists on 44.8 percent from the field and 39.7 percent from the three-point line.

He once again had the most three-point attempts and three-pointers made for the whole league, again proving that no one can score like him.

Beverley is just one of many people watching Curry with total awe.

There really isn’t anyone like him, and there may never be.

Draymond Green Names His Favorite NBA Player To Watch

Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors is one of the biggest names in the NBA, but he’s also a fan.

Like millions of others, he is blown away by the level of talent in the league.

When it comes to his favorite player to watch, Green has a clear choice: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

“Shai, he’s just going to get you a bucket. People complaining that he’s drawing fouls but that’s a skill. There’s an art to it. If you’re a dumb defender and you foul, that’s your fault,” Green said.

Gilgeous-Alexander just had a historic season that resulted in him becoming a champion.

It may have been the first time, but many people believe he will do it again soon, perhaps even next season.

Gilgeous-Alexander is one of the craftiest and fastest players in the league.

He is able to move up and down the court, finding ways to score as well as lock down his opponents with strong defense.

He has a skill at finding a bucket, no matter who he is playing against or how tough the defender is.

Some people complain that Gilgeous-Alexander draws fouls too often, but Green isn’t buying that.

Instead, Green thinks it’s all part of the game and that Gilgeous-Alexander simply plays on the stupidity of the men he is battling against.

The comments and debate around Gilgeous-Alexander will only grow in the new season.

Now that he’s a champion, more people will have strong opinions about him, with some praising him and others critiquing him.

But no matter what, Gilgeous-Alexander has the support of one of the league’s toughest stars, and that means something.

Jonathan Kuminga ‘Anticipated’ To Make Big Contract Decision

Golden State Warriors v Washington Wizards

Jonathan Kuminga and the Golden State Warriors have been dancing around a deal for weeks now, but no progress has been made.

There have been a lot of rumors, a lot of speculation, and some valid concerns from fans.

But now, progress is being made.

A new report says that Kuminga will agree to the qualifying offer that has been on the table for weeks.

“Kuminga signing the qualifying offer remains the anticipated outcome. The deadline to do so is Oct. 1. Meanwhile, Al Horford and the rest of the veterans in Golden State’s waiting room are quietly pleading for clarity,” per Monte Poole.

The Warriors and Kuminga only have a few weeks to agree to the terms of the one-year qualifying deal.

It won’t be a big one, and it definitely won’t keep Kuminga in the Bay Area for long.

In fact, most people feel that this qualifying deal promises that Kuminga will seek a new home in the league, either before the trade deadline or next summer when he becomes a free agent.

Kuminga might be signing on the dotted line with the Warriors, but he certainly isn’t planning to stay with them long-term.

There is always the chance that somehow Kuminga feels better with the Warriors in the new season.

Perhaps Steve Kerr finds a reliable place for him in the rotation, and it is a very beneficial arrangement for both.

But all signs point to Kuminga agreeing to this deal and then leaving as soon as he can.

The Warriors have plans beyond this, so they want the contract official quickly.

Stephen Curry Makes Bold Statement About Today’s NBA

He might be biased, but Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors loves the current state of the NBA.

Sitting down on The Today Show, Curry shared his opinion about the league.

Despite what some people say, he feels that his style of deep three-point shooting has helped the NBA and led to the “most skilled era” of basketball.

“Just the way that you see the skill level right now. The way that range has taken over. Guys shooting threes all over the court. From one through five, and all the way down the roster, I think this is the most skilled era of basketball,” Curry said.

No matter what you think about him, no one can deny that Curry has changed the way the league works.

Since entering the NBA, he has led a three-point shooting revolution.

There was a time when threes were valuable and exciting, but now they have become crucial and every single team is attempting to nail them during every game.

That’s mostly because of Curry, who has the most threes of all time and is considered the best shooter to ever play the game.

Some people feel that shots from deep range have weakened basketball and taken away the competitive edge.

Curry doesn’t think that way, and millions of people agree with him.

Instead, he believes that this sort of shooting has helped all kinds of players, no matter their position or role on the court.

Curry knows that the current generation of basketball players is great due to more than three-point shots.

For a number of reasons, he thinks that NBA fans have never had such a great league to enjoy.

Draymond Green Names Hardest Player To Guard In His Career

Golden State Warriors v Minnesota Timberwolves - Game Two

Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors has defended the best players in the NBA, and he has held his own against most of them.

But he will admit that some players are more difficult than others.

Speaking to NBC Sports, he said that guarding Kevin Durant during his days with the Oklahoma City Thunder was a real nightmare.

“The hardest player I had to guard in my career is KD,” Green said, speaking of Kevin Durant. “KD in OKC. After that, I figured him out, right. Slim can’t score on me no more – nah, he going to score on everybody, but I got better and learned more about his game. But, in OKC and just coming into the league and figuring — oh my God. No chance.”

Green wasn’t the only person who hated to see Durant on the court.

Right out of the gate, he was one of the toughest opponents in the league because he had so many ways he could score.

Even today, his mid-range game is considered one of the greatest the league has ever seen.

Durant was a powerful rookie, and he really found his footing quickly with OKC.

There is a reason why they became a scary force in the West and went all the way to the Finals.

But Green claims he figured him out and was able to find ways to slow Durant down.

Years later, they played on the same team, which gave Green an even better opportunity to study Durant.

Today, Durant is still a fierce scorer, and Green is still a fearsome defender.

When they meet up on the court, it’s always a sight to see.

Kendrick Perkins Reveals Harsh Truth About Jonathan Kuminga

New Orleans Pelicans v Golden State Warriors

The summer is nearly over, and Jonathan Kuminga and the Golden State Warriors still haven’t been able to hash out a deal.

Most insiders believe that Kuminga will sign a qualifying, one-year offer with the team, but what does that mean for his future?

Speaking on ESPN, Kendrick Perkins said that the writing on the wall is clear: the Warriors don’t want Kuminga for good, and that could complicate the upcoming season.

“I don’t know if Jonathan Kuminga watches NBA Today, but they don’t want you, dawg. They don’t value you because if they did, you wouldn’t be going through this. And it started last season, Steve Kerr showed you how he felt about you,” Perkins said. “When you look at this situation, it will cause turmoil in the locker room if you bring him back at $7.9 million because he’s gonna go out there and play individual basketball, and it’s hard for me to tell a guy not to go out there and get his numbers because I know he wants to get paid.”

The Warriors don’t want to let Kuminga go, but they also don’t want to give him a bigger contract or a more prominent place on the team.

Head coach Steve Kerr doesn’t seem interested in investing many minutes into Kuminga, and that probably won’t change in the months ahead.

If Kuminga signs a new contract, it’ll be a small one that only keeps him around for one season, and then he can try his luck with another squad.

Until then, he will try to increase his value, which means he might play a selfish form of basketball.

Perkins believes that is exactly what will happen.

It seems like Kuminga understands that the Warriors don’t truly want him, and so he will be looking out for himself in 2025-26 if he signs a short-term deal with Golden State.

Jonathan Kuminga Has Strong Belief In His Potential

Golden State Warriors v Atlanta Hawks

(Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images)

Jonathan Kuminga of the Golden State Warriors may view the upcoming NBA season as an audition for his future.

Kuminga and the Warriors still haven’t worked out a new deal, although many people believe he will sign at least a short-term qualifying offer soon.

The player isn’t content with his role on the team and believes he is capable of a lot more.

“…But Kuminga has stated a belief that he has multitime All-Star potential. He has lined up loss of value insurance to protect himself in the event he signs the qualifying offer. He’s intrigued by the possibility of unrestricted free agency next summer, sources said, when at least 10 teams are set to have real cap space,” via Shams Charania.

The Warriors view Kuminga as a backup talent, at best, but he is tired of playing that role.

He truly believes that he could do more for this team, but they don’t think so, and so they will probably force him to spend a lot of time on the bench if he remains.

Kuminga wants to be an All-Star multiple times, but that probably won’t happen with Golden State.

Therefore, he will only agree to a deal that gives him the best chance of working on his value before free agency next summer.

Several teams will be able to offer hefty contracts at that time, although there isn’t a clear frontrunner for Kuminga.

It’s become abundantly clear that Kuminga views himself as more than a second-unit star.

He wants to be a starter and All-Star, and he knows his days with Golden State could be numbered.

Warriors Are Reportedly Showing Interest In Pelicans Wing

The Golden State Warriors have been stuck in their situation with Jonathan Kuminga, unable to get anything else done this summer as that saga drags on.

But they still have their sights set on others, including a very popular forward from the New Orleans Pelicans.

“The Warriors are still showing interest in Trey Murphy III,” Jake Fischer recently reported.

— NBACentral (@TheDunkCentral) September 16, 2025

Murphy has been doing great work for the Pelicans during his four years with the team.

He started with an average of 5.4 points and 2.4 rebounds a game and has steadily gotten better, climbing all the way up to 21.2 points and 5.1 rebounds last season.

Murphy is exactly the sort of player the Warriors would love: young, capable, and willing to grow.

He could become a focal point of the team, especially after Steph Curry steps away from the game.

Murphy is contracted with the Pelicans through the 2028-29 season, which means he would come with a large contract.

That might scare away some teams, but if the Warriors see enough upside in him, they’d be willing to get it done.

There have been rumors of the Warriors sitting patiently and waiting until next summer to make a move.

That is when players like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Nikola Jokic could potentially be on the market.

It’s not clear if they would aim for a huge name like those two, and also Murphy.

For now, Murphy is still in New Orleans after missing a chunk of last season because of a shoulder injury.

He is hoping to look much healthier when the new year kicks off in a few weeks.

Jonathan Kuminga’s Commitment Hinges On 1 Contract Detail

Golden State Warriors v Chicago Bulls

Jonathan Kumings of the Golden State Warriors wants to control his future, and he will fight hard for it.

Kuminga and the Warriors have been at a standstill over contract negotiations, with both sides digging their heels in about what they want.

The Warriors recently offered him another potential package, but it came with a team option at the end of it, meaning they would dictate if he stayed or entered free agency.

Kuminga is apparently coming around on the idea of staying with the Warriors, but only if they change that team option to a player one.

“Jonathan Kuminga is willing to sign the Warriors offer and “buy-in to mission of getting Steph Curry another title” if they convert the team option into a player option,” Anthony Slater is reporting.

— Legion Hoops (@LegionHoops) September 16, 2025

Converting a team option into a player option would give Kuminga more flexibility and choice.

He would be able to dictate if he stays or goes, and could be hunting for a new home in the league if he had plans to depart.

This would be a much friendlier contract for Kuminga, but he’d be willing to work for it.

There have been rumors of him not playing hard or fully committing to the team unless he gets what he wants.

So, if they decided to give him a player option, he would buy in and really put his heart and soul into the team and helping them win another title for Steph Curry.

The Warriors now have to sit with this idea and contemplate whether they wish to make the change.

If they do, the Kuminga saga may finally be over, and they can begin to focus on winning a lot in 2025-26.
