Heat fans are making a brutal realization after sending Jimmy Butler to Warriors

The Miami Heat got some revenge on Jimmy Butler when they defeated the Golden State Warriors at Kayesa Center on March 25, but things have otherwise gone poorly for the franchise since the blockbuster trade in early February. While the Warriors are still looking to secure a top six spot amid a 22-6 record in Butler's 28 games for the franchise, the Heat have been condemned to the Play-In Tournament and a huge uphill battle to make the playoffs. Miami took a huge blow when they suffered a 119-111 loss to the Chicago Bulls at United Center on Wednesday, meaning they're likely to finish as the 10th-seed in the East and therefore will need to win two road Play-In games to make the playoffs.

Pelicans Close Eastern Conference Slate Home Against Heat

The New Orleans Pelicans play their final games of the 2024–25 season this weekend, starting with the Miami Heat in the Smoothie King Center on Friday night. While the Heat are focused on postseason positioning, the Pelicans are looking to end a frustrating year on a high note—both for the record books and their young players. Rookie Class Keeps Impressing Despite dropping five straight and dealing with a staggering list of injuries, New Orleans continues to get strong performances from its rookies and backups. In Thursday's loss to Milwaukee, the Pelicans dressed just eight players, but six of them scored in double figures. Lester Quinones led the way with a career-high 21 points, while Keion

Pelicans Make Unfortunate History vs Heat

The New Orleans Pelicans have had a nightmare 2024-25 campaign, and Friday night's matchup against the Miami Heat was the epitome of disaster. The Pelicans, with 11 players sidelined, took a crushing defeat against the Heat at home. The Heat beat the Pelicans 153-104, led by 23 points and 12 rebounds from Bam Adebayo, 22 points on 7-10 shooting from Tyler Herro, and 21 points on 6-12 shooting from deep off the bench from Duncan Robinson. This became the most lopsided regular-season loss in Pelicans history, and Miami's 153 points are the most New Orleans has ever given up in a single game.

Heat sitting Herro, Adebayo, numerous others Sunday against Wizards

MIAMI – As expected, Sunday will be a day of rest for the Miami Heat’s primary rotation components ahead of Wednesday night’s win-or-go-home road play-in game against the Chicago Bulls. Prioritizing prudence, the Heat on Saturday listed Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro as out for rest for Sunday afternoon’s game against the Washington Wizards at Kaseya Center, a game that has no impact on the ...

ASK IRA: Is pushing forward for a Cavaliers series a fool’s errand for the Heat?

Q: Am I being delusional when I say we can beat the Cavs in a seven-game series? – Lou. A: I’m not sure about “delusional,” but you are getting way ahead of yourself, with the Heat first having to beat Chicago and then either Boston or Atlanta just to get there. Against that level of competition, the Heat have been fine, with a 25-14 record against teams with losing records this season. The ...

Heat’s lottery position set at No. 11 (if in lottery); Warriors pick to Heat in flux

MIAMI — The goal for the Miami Heat remains to avoid the May 12 NBA draft lottery. But if they are to be represented in the random-but-weighted drawing, at least they now know where they stand. With the combination of their Sunday home loss to the Washington Wizards, the Chicago Bulls’ road victory over the Philadelphia 76ers and the Phoenix Suns’ road loss to the Sacramento Kings, the Heat ...

Miami Heat Have Put Bad Habits On Display in 0-3 Run vs. Chicago Bulls

The Miami Heat have come up short in each of the last three months when facing the Chicago Bulls. In order to play one more game beyond Wednesday's 9-10 matchup, the Heat must find a way to secure a different result. Erik Spoelstra has won head-to-head matchups in play-ins against Billy Donovan in each of the past two years, but is just 13-16 against his coaching counterpart after his Heat has suffered three losses to the Bulls in a 70-day span. An inability to hold leads or get a handle on Bulls star Josh Giddey has hindered Miami, and if you don't study history, you're doomed to repeat it.

Bulls in position to be the setting sun on single-minded 'Heat Culture'

Billy Donovan was talking about the Miami Heat. “The one thing I respect from afar, people can look at where organizations are at a particular time, but with them it's only about one thing, winning,” the Bulls coach said about the Heat. What's directly in front of Miami is a visit to the United Center on Wednesday night to face a Bulls team they haven't beaten all season long. It is a no nonsense, whatever-it-takes mentality that has sent the Bulls home the previous two play-in tournaments.

Heat's Bam Adebayo drops 'March Madness' truth bomb on NBA Play-In Tournament

With the Miami Heat looking to make NBA Play-In Tournament history by being the first tenth seed to make the playoffs, the team first has to get past the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday. As the Heat face the Bulls in a win-or-go-home contest, star Bam Adebayo compares the feeling to that of March Madness. Compared to a seven-game series in the playoffs, the play-in tourney is a tad different, especially at the tenth seed like Miami where they don't get a second chance like the seventh or eighth spot if they lose. In that regard, it does compare to the NCAA National Tournament or March Madness where losing one game in the tournament ends your season.

Heat's Udonis Haslem makes wild Jimmy Butler claim vs. LeBron James, Dwyane Wade

Miami Heat legend Udonis Haslem had a lot of praise for Jimmy Butler following his dominant display in the Play-In Tournament. He even went as far as to put him over LeBron James and Dwyane Wade in one area. Butler had whatever he wanted in the Golden State Warriors' 121-116 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday night. He put forth a dominant stat line of 38 points, seven rebounds and six assists. He shot 12-of-20 from the field, including 2-of-4 from beyond the arc, and 12-of-18 from the free-throw line. Haslem reacted to Butler's performance on ESPN's NBA Countdown. He revealed a conversation he had with Wade, saying that Butler's intelligence surpasses him and James. “You are talented

Cavs vs. Heat, NBA playoffs Game 1: preview, odds, TV

The time of year for the Cavs to prove that they are no longer just regular-season darlings but that they hunger to bring their city just its second championship in franchise history. Game 1 of the opening round of the playoffs is on Sunday as the Cavs host the Miami Heat at Rocket Arena with tipoff set for 7 p.m. Eastern on TNT. The Heat might be the No. 8 seed. The Heat — tested, playoff-hardened, and dangerous — arrive as the first No. 10 seed to claw their way out of the play-in tournament.
