How will Heat's Pat Riley deal with Jimmy Butler's much anticipated return to Miami

Old rivalries never die, as is the case for Miami Heat president Pat Riley and Golden State Warriors forward Jimmy Butler. After the Heat traded Butler to the Warriors, it was a part of a months-long saga between the two. For starters, Butler wanted a contract extension. On the flip side, Riley wasn't willing to give Butler what he was asking for.

Andrew Wiggins' 2 injuries are down to 1 ahead of Heat-Rockets game

As the Miami Heat look to snap the current nine-game losing streak on Friday night when the team takes on the Houston Rockets, they hope to be at full strength with newcomer Andrew Wiggins. After the Heat lost a tough one to the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday, they need as much firepower as possible as the status of Wiggins has been revealed before the game. Wiggins has missed the last two games due to a calf contusion but ClutchPoints has learned that the issue has changed to “right ankle impingement.” It had been an ongoing concurrent injury along with the calf contusion, but the latter is no longer an issue.

Ex-NBA Player Lists Top Two Candidates To Replace Miami Heat's Pat Riley

Miami Heat team president Pat Riley is taking plenty criticism amid the losing streak and trade of Jimmy Butler. Former NBA player Jay Williams gave his take. "With all the respect in the world to the legendary status of Pat Riley, I think it's a really difficult situation for the organization to make considering how loyal Micky Arison is to Pat Riley and their relationship as family and that bond over the years," Williams said. "But if we are making the mention that Pat Riley should retire, I think there's two people for the job."

Heat's Erik Spoelstra finds positives after losing streak hits 10

As the Miami Heat's losing streak increased to 10 games, this time to the Houston Rockets in a 102-98 defeat, the team is looking for anything at all to build on. While one could point to Heat star Andrew Wiggins' performance, head coach Erik Spoelstra would find other positives in the contest despite the dire situation for the team. It was another game that Miami blew a double-digit lead, bringing the total up to 20 which leads the league, plus lost their 18 fourth-quarter lead as that's tied for first in the NBA. “In the fourth quarter again, probably the biggest plays were those second chance opportunities,” Spoelstra said.

Heat’s Adebayo questionable Sunday vs. Hornets due to knee sprain

MIAMI — At a time when the Miami Heat rotation is as close to whole as it has been in weeks, center Bam Adebayo surfaced on the team’s injury report Saturday with a sprained left knee that has him listed as questionable for Sunday night’s game against the Charlotte Hornets at Kaseya Center. Jimmy Butler Makes Feelings Clear Ahead Of Warriors-Heat Game

On Tuesday evening, the Golden State Warriors will play the Miami Heat in Florida. The game will be Jimmy Butler's first against Miami since getting traded last month. After Saturday's loss to the Atlanta Hawks, Butler was asked about the upcoming matchup. Butler (h/t Sam Gordon of San Francisco Chronicle): "Another game for me. Another game that we're expected to win for sure, so we better figure it out... I'm a member of the Golden State Warriors. I love that fanbase. They showed me a lot love while I was there, but I'm there to win now. I'm on the opposing team... We didn't win nothing like we we're supposed to. We made some cool runs, we had some fun. I think that's all we did." Warriors

Heat predicted to pursue Suns star in possible biggest trade since LeBron James

The Miami Heat have had a down year, but a blockbuster move this summer is definitely in the works unless Pat Riley stops being Pat Riley. Miami has always found a way to re-load its roster and stay in contention since the head coach-exec duo of Erik Spoelstra and Riley has been at the helm. The Jimmy Butler saga sort of ruined Miami's 2024-25 season, but there's no way Riley and Spo will allow the Heat to be unsuccessful in 2025-26.

Wiggins catches fire, Hornets lose and are eliminated from playoff contention

The Charlotte Hornets added another loss to their record with a 122-105 defeat to the Miami Heat on Sunday evening. The hosts controlled the action early on, while the Hornets struggled offensively. But after missing their first four triples and going down 6-9, a timeout by Charles Lee lit a momentary fire under the squad. Powered by a strong stretch of play from Nick Smith Jr. and Mark Williams, the Hornets stormed to a 41-29 lead in the middle of the second quarter. But the Heat, who were riding a ten-game losing streak into Sunday's matchup, had the last laugh of the first half with an ensuing 28-6 run. Charles Lee's defensive worries continued after the break. Moments of maturity: Heat’s Herro no longer merely a Boy Wonder, Baby Goat

MIAMI — Moments of maturity are not necessarily what one might expect from a player with nicknames such as Boy Wonder and Baby Goat. But twice this week, those are exactly what Tyler Herro served up for the Miami Heat, further signs of Boy and Baby growing into a more reliable NBA presence at 25. Exhibit B, at least chronologically, came after Tuesday night’s victory over Jimmy Butler and the ...

As losses have turned to wins, Heat’s Spoelstra sees ‘something beautiful on the other side’

PHILADELPHIA – During the darkest and direst days, Erik Spoelstra refused to turn to excuses, even as the Miami Heat’s losing streak reached 10. Terry Rozier on his Heat reality, ‘My style of play hasn’t been the best fit’

WASHINGTON — A curious thing happened for Terry Rozier in Saturday night’s victory in Philadelphia — he played. For the veteran Miami Heat guard, that was the first time that happened in six games. Ultimately, it was just 4:08 of action and hardly altered his status of being shuffled to the back of rotation. Having entered the season with expectations of either being a side-by-side or relief ...
