WATCH: Eagles All-Pro WR A.J. Brown does an hilarious impersonation of Jalen Hurts

Jalen Hurts will finish his Eagles career being known for many good things, and his three or four-word zingers will top the list. Whether “keeping the main thing, the main thing” or “avoiding the rat poison,” Hurts has his own unique way of communicating with the media.

The Eagles are Super Bowl champions, and A.J. Brown has been making his own media appearances, sitting down with NFL Network and the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast. While chopping it up with Gillie and Wallo, Brown was asked to impersonate Hurts, and the results were pure comedy.

Nolan Smith to be ready for 2025 season after tearing Triceps in Super Bowl 59 win

Nolan Smith was the Eagles’ best pass rusher down the stretch, and he likely gained more respect from his teammates after playing through a torn Triceps.

Ian Rapoport reports that Smith tore the Tricep during the game and finished the second half. Like Cam Jurgens, Smith had surgery and will be ready for the 2025 NFL season.

#Eagles pass-rusher Nolan Smith tore his triceps in the Super Bowl LIX win over the #Chiefs — and played through it in the second half, per me and @MikeGarafolo.

Smith, who performed in the second half on one arm, had surgery on Wednesday and will be ready for the 2025 season. pic.twitter.com/Atmq0pcXkV

— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) February 21, 2025

Smith had four tackles and two sacks in the wild-card round win over Green Bay. Smith, who finished 2nd on the defense with a career-high 6.5 sacks in the regular season, has the most pressures (13) among NFL players in the playoffs this year. Smith’s 4.5 sacks this postseason are the most ever recorded by an Eagle during a single playoff run.

In the Super Bowl win, an injured Smith had two quarterback hits.

WATCH: Darius Slay received Key to the City in his hometown of Brunswick, Georgia

Brunswick, Georgia, is home to some incredible athletic stories, including Kwame Brown being drafted No. 1 overall, but none have been more successful than Darius Slay.

Slay is a future Hall of Famer and a Super Bowl champion after the Eagles’ 40-22 beatdown over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 59. Just 11 days after that historic victory, the city of Brunswick honored Slay with a Super Bowl victory parade and the key to the city during a celebration at Howard Coffin Park to Brunswick City Hall.

Slay has made six Pro Bowls in 12 NFL seasons. The Eagles cornerback and former Lions draft pick ranks seventh among active players with 28 career interceptions.

Slay has made the Pro Bowl in the last three seasons, logging nine interceptions, two touchdown returns, and 43 pass breakups in 60 games. Slay has avoided the normal decline cornerbacks face in their 30s, but he told Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia earlier this season, “I’m not going to just keep playing. I’m going to let these young guys eat. That’s what I’m here for, to make sure these guys get there. And when my time is up, it’s up.”

  1. Tap or click a BET NOW button to get to a Caesars Sportsbook account registration page.
  2. This page will request some general info such as name and address that are required to start a new account. You will also need to navigate to make sure SBWIREDYW is displayed as the Caesars Sportsbook promo code. If not, type or paste it in where prompted.
  3. Next up is confirming you are located in a state where Caesars Sportsbook operates and are of legal betting age in that state (21+ in most locales).
  4. Make an initial deposit of $10 or more.

Next up will be your initial wager of $1 or more that will grant you 10 100% profit boosts.

How Caesars Sportsbook Promo Code Profit Boosts Work

When making that initial wager with the Caesars Sportsbook promo code, do keep in mind this must be a real money wager at -10000 or longer odds (-20000 won’t work, -5000 will). You will then receive the 10 profit boosts and have up to 14 days to use them.

Let’s say you use the first one on a $20 moneyline at -200 odds. A win there would give you $10 in profits without the profit boost, but if you opt in to use the profit boost before making that wager, you will then get $20 in profits – essentially converting -200 odds to +100 odds.

That’s one way to go, but if you want to pursue higher upside options, just note that the Caesars Sportsbook promo code SBWIREDYW profit boosts have a maximum $25 wager amount and a ceiling of $2,500 for any added profits. That’s a range that should allow for a lot of profit pursuit if you choose to go that route.

Bet on NASCAR With Caesars Sportsbook Promo Code SBWIREDYW

One avenue to go after profit upside with the Caesars Sportsbook promo code can be found in that NASCAR race. Ryan Blaney opened at +900 odds, which placed him slightly ahead of Joey Logano (+950) and Austin Cindric (+1000).

Since you can use multiple profit boosts on a single event, you could put $25 on each of these drivers and get anywhere from $225 to $250 in additional profits if any of those drivers ends up winning this race at these odds levels.

This is certainly a way to liven up some of your early wagers. To get this, all you need to do is tap a BET NOW button and sign up for the Caesars Sportsbook promo code SBWIREDYW.

Anonymous NFL team proposes rule to ban Eagles 'Tush Push' play

NFL teams are tired of the Eagles’ short-yardage play, and rather than perfecting the ‘Tush Push,’ one unnamed team has proposed banning the play altogether.

NFL EVP of football operations Troy Vincent told NFL Network Senior National Columnist Judy Battista on Monday that one unidentified team has submitted a proposal to ban the play known as the “Tush Push.”

There is a proposal from an unnamed team to ban the Tush Push, Troy Vincent said. We’ll see where it goes.

— Judy Battista (@judybattista) February 24, 2025

The Eagles utilize a standard quarterback sneak that incorporates lining up two players behind Jalen Hurts, who receives the snap, uses his powerful legs (600-pound squat), with the push of his two fellow Eagles from behind, attempts to gain the necessary yardage for a fresh set of downs or a touchdown.

The play has been so incredibly effective for the Eagles that Hurts finished in a tie for the fifth-most rushing touchdowns (14) in 2024, and he’s halfway to 100 (55 rushing scores) after just four whole years as a starter.

The problem is that many NFL clubs have attempted to replicate the play in their own fashion, with limited to no success.

Peters returned to the Eagles in July of 2020 with the intention of playing right guard after Brandon Brooks suffered an Achilles tear.

After starting left tackle Andre Dillard suffered a season-ending biceps tear, the Eagles moved Peters back to the position that he manned since 2009.

Acquired via trade with the Buffalo Bills in 2009, Peters started in all 148 regular-season games with the Eagles.

The Linc - Saquon Barkley contract extension details emerge

Super Bowl LIX: Kansas City Chiefs v Philadelphia Eagles

Philadelphia Eagles news and links for 3/8/25.

Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links ...

Breaking Down Saquon Barkley’s $41.2M Contract Extension - Over The Cap
Realistically the way to look at this is the Eagles agreed to pay Barkley an additional $6 million over his existing contract with the Eagles taking on the risk of fully guaranteeing his 2026 season now rather than having an ability to release him that year. Given that there are no significant guarantees in the 3rd year of this contract the Eagles would have every ability to renegotiate the contract downward if Barkley’s performance dropped significantly. None of this has the excitement that comes with saying a $20.6M per year running back, but it sounds great for the position and lets the Eagles dominate the news cycle for a few days due to their contract for Barkley even though in the end it is not a massive adjustment from his original contract.

Inside the new Saquon Barkley deal - PFT
The new-money average of $20.6 million is the highest for a running back, ever. No other running back had gotten to $20 million per year. The full guarantee at signing of $36 million is the most ever for a running back. The two-year ($33.5 million) and three-year ($49.5 million) cash flow is the most for any running back in NFL history. With incentives and escalators, the new-money annual average can max out at $25.85 million. Barkley had been due to earn $27.5 million over the next two years, given his salaries and the escalators triggered by his 2024 performance. He’ll now make $33.5 million, fully-guaranteed.

The Saquon Barkley contract is probably bad. So what. - BGN
But so what. The Eagles are defending Super Bowl winners. Every year teams double down on a roster that has no chance. No team has a better chance than the Eagles to win the Super Bowl next year. They’re not locking up the core of a 9 to 11 win team and hoping to catch a break. They’re not locking up an aging roster hoping for a swan song season. This is the best team in the league, and they have a trophy to prove it.

Market Watch - Iggles Blitz
I’m sure part of Howie would love to go get an elite pass rusher, but I just don’t know if the resources and money are worth it for this team. Never say never, as we’ve learned over the years. There are still free agents that can be signed if the team wants to go that route. More importantly, there is a deep, talented draft class of DL. The Eagles are going to have a lot of options. It really comes down to how Howie wants to address the roster holes. It is interesting to see teams making cuts like this. They are creating cap space, but this isn’t a compelling free agent class. Is this just teams trying to save money? Do teams just see a really good draft class and want younger/cheaper options? The Eagles are benefiting from these players becoming available. It gives them more options. You can bet Howie and his staff knew most, if not all, of these guys would get cut. They have reports on the players and know which guys are worth talking to. This is a crazy time of the year for players and agent so nothing may happen until next week. Because Howie has drafted so well, the Eagles have plenty of young DL. Age isn’t a critical factor for them. They can add older players if they want without having to worry about getting too old. The Eagles can focus on adding the players they think are the best fit. Cost is important, of course.

Eagles free agent hasn’t gotten any offseason interest from Philadelphia: ‘Not part of the plan’ - NJ.com
Defensive tackle Milton Williams was one of the Eagles’ best defensive players this past season and helped them win a Super Bowl, but it doesn’t appear like the free agent will be a part of their future. Williams has not been in touch with the Eagles this offseason and there is little chance he will return to Philadelphia, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. The person requested anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation. “I don’t think so. He’s not part of the plan with the Georgia boys,” the person said. In 2025, the Eagles could replace Williams with third-year defensive tackle Moro Ojomo and a draft pick. The Eagles are likely comfortable moving on from Williams because they would rather give contract extensions to defensive tackles Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis, both of whom were drafted out of Georgia. The Eagles offered Williams a one-year, $8 million contract before the 2024 season, according to the person. Now, Williams is likely to shatter that offer in free agency.

Agent’s Take: Target prices for 10 intriguing defensive players with expiring contracts, including Josh Sweat - CBS Sports
Josh Sweat. Contract package: $95 million/4 years ($23.75 million per year). Overall guarantees: $75 million. Fully guaranteed at signing: $52.5 million. Sweat took a $6 million pay cut from the three-year, $40 million contract extension, averaging $13,333,333 per year, he signed in 2021. Scheduled to make $16 million in 2024, Sweat lowered his salary to $10 million where $9.5 million was fully guaranteed with the opportunity to earn as much as $13 million total through incentives. Sweat led the Eagles with eight sacks last season. He made a great closing statement with 2.5 sacks and tied his season high with seven quarterback pressures, according to PFF, in Philadelphia’s 40-22 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. It’s surely going to take more than the three-year, $51.1 million deal, averaging $17,033,333 per year and worth a maximum of $57.1 million thanks to incentives and salary escalators, the Eagles gave edge rusher Bryce Huff last March as a free agent to keep Sweat in Philadelphia.

Some NFL cap casualties who could interest Eagles in free agency - NBCSP
DT Raekwon Davis: Another DT with a connection to Fangio. Davis played under Fangio in Miami in 2023, which could be a good or bad thing. We know opinions were definitely split on the veteran DC among Dolphins defensive players. Davis (6-7, 325) didn’t really live up to his second-round draft status but in his five-year career has played in 80 games with 48 starts. He doesn’t offer much as a pass rusher with just 2 career sacks but if the Eagles want a Jordan Davis backup, he could be an option.

NFL free agency: Biggest needs for each AFC team - NFL.com
The Super Bowl champs are riding high, having secured extensions for superstar RB Saquon Barkley and breakout LB Zack Baun, but three major pieces are still headed for free agency: DT Milton Williams, edge Josh Sweat and RG Mekhi Becton. Sweat generated 14 pressures in the playoffs, chipping in 2.5 sacks in the Super Bowl, while Williams blossomed under Vic Fangio into one of the league’s best interior pass rushers. Becton also had a resurgent season, shifting to guard with the Eagles after struggling previously as a Jets tackle. It seems likely that Philadelphia will have to replace one or more of these veterans in a cost-friendly manner, as the Eagles have a below-average amount of money to spend and essentially no apparent room to restructure existing contracts. They’ve already decided to part with six-time Pro Bowler Darius Slay and 2022 second-team All-Pro James Bradberry , transactions that could save them $6.5 million against the 2025 cap this summer if both are given the post-June 1 designation. Consequently, Philly should be seeking CB depth. While a third option at WR behind stars A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith would benefit the passing game, the team might not have the financial space to add there. The other pending free agents seem generally expendable.

The Cowboys could be ‘selectively aggressive’ by pursuing recently released veterans - Blogging The Boys
JOEY BOSA: Let me start off by saying this is a big name, which likely means his price tag will take the Cowboys out of the running for pursuing the former Los Angeles Chargers pass rusher. But we are mentioning him due to how highly the Cowboys viewed him coming out of Ohio State in the 2016 NFL draft. Joey Bosa, when healthy, is still one of the better defensive ends in the NFL, but staying healthy has been the main issue for Bosa over the last few years. Since 2022, Bosa has played in just 28 games, racking up 18 sacks and 14 tackles for loss. Bosa primarily plays on the left side which is where DeMarcus Lawrence spent most of his time since Micah Parsons arrived in Dallas. Depending on the money here, the Cowboys could very well make an aggressive push for Bosa, based on his success in the NFL so far, and how they felt about him coming out of Ohio State back in 2016.

‘Nobody should outbid the Giants’ for Aaron Rodgers, says NFL analyst - Big Blue View
NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah left no doubt during a recent appearance on the ‘Pat McAfee Show’ that he believes Aaron Rodgers and the New York Giants are a match. “I have not heard the Giants connected with any of the veteran quarterbacks other than Aaron Rodgers,” Jeremiah said. As is common knowledge amongst those who follow the Giants, Jeremiah said “there’s some urgency” with the Giants to win now. “Who’s the win right now quarterback? It’s Aaron Rodgers,” Jeremiah said.

The Washington Commanders release DT Jonathan Allen after finding no trade partners - Hogs Haven
The Washington Commanders couldn’t find a trade partner for Jonathan Allen, and are reportedly releasing him. This move was expected with team’s unlikely to trade picks for the former Pro Bowl defensive tackle. Allen was granted permission to seek a trade, and Washington was talking to other teams about moving their former first round pick. They tried to include him in the trade for WR Deebo Samuel, but the 49ers were looking to dump salary as they prepare to extend QB Brock Purdy.

Titans releasing EDGE Harold Landry - Music City Miracles
Landry was a really good player for this franchise. It’s always sad when you see a guy who has been as good for the team come to an end, but there was just no way they were going to pay him the $17.5 million he was owed this year based on how his production had dropped off. The move will save the team just under $11 million against the cap.

Geno Smith trade grades for Seahawks and Raiders after shocking deal for QB - SB Nation
The changes keep coming for the Seattle Seahawks. Earlier this week the team parted ways with veteran wide receiver Tyler Lockett, and granted permission to fellow wideout DK Metcalf to seek a trade. That led to questions over just who Geno Smith might be throwing the ball to next year, beyond Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Well, in an incredible “Friday night news dump” the Seahawks just answered that question. How about Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers? According to multiple reports, the Seahawks are trading Smith to the Raiders for a third-round selection. That gives the Raiders the quarterback they needed to add this offseason while opening up a host of additional questions for Seattle. Let’s hand out some grades.

Eagles Free Agency Rumors: Multiple NFC East teams interested in signing Isaiah Rodgers

Super Bowl LIX: Kansas City Chiefs v Philadelphia Eagles

Philadelphia might not be able to retain the 27-year-old cornerback.

If your expectation was that impending free agent cornerback Isaiah Rodgers wouldn’t have a strong market and he’d be easy for the Philadelphia Eagles to re-sign, you may need to think again.

Rodgers is drawing interest from multiple teams ahead of the NFL’s negotiating window opening at noon on Monday, March 10. This much according to a report from Aaron Wilson.

The Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Carolina Panthers were specifically mentioned.

With the Eagles reportedly designating Darius Slay as a post-June 1, losing Rodgers doesn’t seem ideal. Even less so with him potentially going to a division rival.

If Philly is able to re-sign him, Rodgers would be a nice outside starting CB option to pair with Quinyon Mitchell next season.

If the Eagles don’t retain Rodgers, Kelee Ringo could be primed to take over that role instead. It’s also possible the team adds more competition at the position.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Rodgers has a “healthy market” considering that he’s a 27-year-old cornerback with starting experience and he played well off the bench in 2024.

Price tag pending, Eagles fans are rooting for a Rodgers return in 2025:

NFL free agency rumors: Eagles want fourth-round draft pick for Dallas Goedert

Super Bowl LIX: Kansas City Chiefs v Philadelphia Eagles

The report notes there is interest, but both a lower pick and salary adjustment are needed in order to happen.

Rumors picked up late last week that the Eagles were open to trading Dallas Goedert this offseason with many agreeing that the tight end would probably be playing elsewhere in 2025. On the eve of the free agency legal tampering period, more details are emerging and the Eagles appear to still be holding out hope to get a fourth-round pick for Goedert.

There are league sources who believe the #Eagles are holding out hope for at least a 4th-round pick for TE Dallas Goedert in a potential trade, even if said pick was from later years like 26' or '27.

However, a lower pick & more of a salary adjustment is needed for some* teams… pic.twitter.com/VtXj599VlF

— JosinaAnderson (@JosinaAnderson) March 9, 2025

It’s interesting that Josina Anderson mentioned interested teams would not only need to offer a lower pick, but also that there would need to be some salary adjustment as well. It backs up assertions that the Eagles may only be willing to move on from Goedert this year because he’s asking for a new contract.

BGN’s Brandon Lee Gowton explained last week:

“The feeling here has been that the Eagles should ride it out for one more year while adding a potential Goedert successor (likely via the 2025 NFL Draft) to their roster this offseason. But perhaps it’s not that simple if Goedert is applying pressure for a new deal.”

It seems like most Eagles fans are interested in keeping Goedert in Philly, either by making him play under his current deal or at least re-working it. Ultimately, it may not be possible or in the team’s best interest to do that.

One thing’s for sure, the next few weeks should be an interesting ride as Howie Roseman and his staff navigate roster building with so many talented players.

Oren Burks will not be returning to the Eagles

NFC Divisional Playoffs: Los Angeles Rams v Philadelphia Eagles

Philadelphia will need to find another linebacker to pair with Zack Baun while Nakobe Dean is injured.

Oren Burks is leaving the Philadelphia Eagles in NFL free agency to sign a two-year, $5 million contract with the Cincinnati Bengals, according to a report from NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

There was hope that the Eagles might be able to retain Burks with Nakobe Dean’s outlook for 2025 unclear as he recovers from a torn patella injury that could cause him to miss a portion of next season.

Burks’ departure means the Eagles will have to find another option to pair with Zack Baun, who signed a three-year, $51 million contract extension with Philly last week. Internal options at the position include Jeremiah Trotter Jr. and Ben VanSumeren (assuming the Eagles re-sign him as an exclusive-rights free agent). Even if the team likes those guys, they should still look to add more competition through free agency and/or the 2025 NFL Draft.

Burks ended up being a nice one-year player for the Eagles. He mostly contributed on special teams before being elevated to a starting role after Dean’s injury in the Wild Card round. The drop-off from Dean to Burks wasn’t as severe as it was feared to be.

Hard to blame the 29-year-old for leaving Philly with a chance to see more playing time for another team.

NFL Draft 2025: Exact numbers for the Eagles’ picks

Super Bowl LIX Previews

Photo by Don Juan Moore/Getty Images

The 2025 NFL Draft order was made official on Tuesday evening.

The 2025 NFL Draft order was officially finalized on Tuesday with the league finally announcing compensatory pick selections.

The Eagles did not receive any comp picks this year because they signed more qualifying players than they lost last offseason. The Eagles are projected to receive multiple comp picks in next year’s 2026 NFL Draft based on their free agency losses thus far.

In any case, we now know exactly where the Eagles are projected to select in the 2025 NFL Draft. They could obviously add or subtract picks prior to the draft and they’ll likely move around during the draft.

But for your mock draft purposes, here’s what we’re currently looking at.

EAGLES PICKS IN THE 2025 NFL DRAFT

1st — No. 32 overall (Eagles won Super Bowl LIX)
2nd — No. 64 overall
3rd — No. 96 overall
4th — No. 134 overall
5th — No. 161 (from Houston Texans)
5th — No. 164 (from Detroit Lions via Cleveland Browns)
5th — No. 165 (from Washington Commanders)
5th — No. 168

How the Eagles’ new-look defense is shaping up for 2025 - BGN
Still, the departure of these role players creates both an opening for young players, and the uncertainty that goes along with it. The good news is, the core of the world champions is very much intact. Virtually everyone on offense will be back, with only Dallas Goedert’s and Mekhi Becton’s futures up in the air. Defensively, the bedrock of Jalen Carter, Zack Baun, Nolan Smith, Jordan Davis, Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean and Reed Blankenship remain in place. If you’re fretting about relying so much on young players and recent draft picks to make the leap and become impact contributors, take heart. The core of the Eagles’ No. 1-ranked defense was mostly a question mark heading into 2024, filled with draft picks who had not yet lived up to their potential. This time last year, there were serious questions about Smith’s viability as a pass rusher, Carter’s conditioning and ability to stay on the field, Davis’ overall effectiveness and Dean’s ability to stay healthy and productive. Roseman’s recent drafts were not celebrated as the slam dunks we see them as now, because those players had yet to prove they could make an impact. But Roseman and the Eagles stuck with them, added two Defensive Rookie of the Year finalists in the draft, and decided to believe those previous picks would pan out. It happened. Now, they’re hoping it will happen again. And don’t sleep on the developmental aspect of all this. The Eagles’ coaching staff has done a wonderful job helping players continue to improve after arriving in the NFL. That’s not always the case. Some coaching staffs look at college players as finished products that either fit their system or don’t. The Eagles coaching staff makes players better.

Expect trade market, draft to make up for Eagles’ free-agency wipeout, amid Howie Roseman’s plea for ‘patience’ - Inquirer
Point is, the Eagles did exactly what they should have done over the last week. They realized that Zack Baun would give them the best bang for their buck and focused on re-signing him. They realized that it wasn’t worth $24 million a year to maintain their embarrassment of riches at defensive tackle. Instead, they wished Williams well. They realized that they had given Sweat’s money to Bryce Huff and that they would just have to live with it. They realized that Slay would be 35 years old by the end of next season and that Mitchell and DeJean were good bets to be better than they were in 2024. They are worse now than they were a week ago. That’s how it works this time of year for elite teams. The salary cap is in place for a reason. Nobody wants to see a team like the Eagles win 10 straight Super Bowls. Well, almost nobody.

Why the Eagles traded C.J. Gardner-Johnson: 5 thoughts on the trade, what’s next at safety, how Kenyon Green fits with Jeff Stoutland - PHLY
1. The Eagles were likely trying to get ahead of a contract situation with Gardner-Johnson while recognizing they have some big contracts upcoming. This has more to do with the business of football as the on-field product. Gardner-Johnson, who only has $2 million guaranteed on his contract, was soon to be in line for a new deal. The Eagles can pay big money to only so many players. And with contract extensions expected in the next two years for young players such as Cam Jurgens, Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith — and Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean eligible in 2027 — the Eagles try to get ahead of these decisions. It’s not just cap considerations — the cap savings are not significant in this case — but also the cash savings. By making this move, the Eagles do not need to pay Gardner-Johnson $8.5 million in cash this year. From the 10-year period leading into the 2024 season, the Eagles had more cash spending than any team in the NFL. Their strategy includes cash-heavy deals that allow them to spread the cap hit over the course of multiple years. They paid heavy cash in recent contract extensions, and they’ll need that cash for some of these upcoming deals.

Why Howie Roseman believes a painful offseason was essential for Eagles - NBCSP
And he’s convinced that you can’t sustain success without constantly infusing the roster with young players. That means you have to keep drafting well and that means you have to have a lot of starters on rookie contracts and that means you can pay market value to keep your superstars. That’s the formula. That’s the plan. And it works. Roseman’s plan for this offseason was a simple one. Stock up on draft picks. Don’t even try to sign any free agents. Get younger. Trust the kids. Put the compensatory pick formula to work. It was partly necessitated by the Eagles’ less-than-ideal cap situation but also by Roseman’s understanding that the only way to remain competitive is to make painful decisions when it comes to roster construction. So while it hurts to see all these players leave, Roseman believes it had to happen if the Eagles are going to continue to compete for championships. So this offseason has been about getting younger and letting guys like Kelee Ringo, Jeremiah Trotter Jr., Jalyx Hunt, Sydney Brown, Tyler Steen and Moro Ojomo compete for more prominent roles while they’re on cheap rookie deals.

Money Matters - Iggles Blitz
The Eagles gave up a good starting safety for a disappointing OG who got benched last year. Why on earth would they do this?Apparently this is about business. Money. CJGJ is a good player making good money. The Eagles would like to save some of that money. They are going to pay Jalen Carter megabucks next year. Cam Jurgens should get an extension this year. Reed Blankenship will need an extension. Where do you want to spend your money? You want to focus on great players and younger players. The Eagles wanted to save some money for the upcoming deals.

2025 NFL free agency: Best, worst, most surprising moves - ESPN+
The Annual ‘Howie Szn’ Award: The Eagles trade QB Kenny Pickett to the Browns. There isn’t a general manager in the league with half as fervent a cult following as the Eagles’ Howie Roseman. The mastermind behind two Super Bowl champions is known for overinvesting in the quarterback position, employing more talented offensive and defensive linemen than any other team and always fleecing opposing front offices in trades. As such, every year, there’s at least one Eagles move — a signing, a trade, whatever — that has the entire Philadelphia fan base cheering its GM’s name. This offseason, that move is the trading of Kenny Pickett. The Eagles, in classic Howie fashion, traded for Pickett last offseason solely for his status as an ex-first-round quarterback. After one season of unspectacular QB2 play, they’ve shipped Pickett away to Cleveland, a team grasping at quarterback straws for the 2025 season. The trade return (a fifth-rounder and QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson) is about as unremarkable as what Roseman originally sent to Pittsburgh for Pickett (a third-rounder and two seventh-rounders for Pickett and a fourth-rounder). That isn’t the point, though. The point is Roseman continues to cycle through QB2 options even with a Super Bowl-winning QB1 in hand. He continues to wheel and deal for picks in a never-ending string of small but likely plus-expected value moves. That’s what makes this a classic Howie move. Masterful gambit.

Eagles still plan to release Darius Slay on Wednesday - PFT
Cornerback Darius Slay continues to be a member of the Eagles’ roster. He will be until Wednesday. The Eagles, we’re told, still plan to cut him when the new league year begins. Waiting until 4:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, March 12 allows the Eagles to make Slay a post-June 1 release, spreading more than $13.7 million in dead money over two seasons. Slay, in the interim, has permission to speak to other teams. And he apparently has been speaking to the Steelers. But no deal can be done until he’s released.

Texans trading OG Kenyon Green to Eagles for S CJ Gardner-Johnson - Battle Red Blog
With this move, the Texans move on from Greene who unfortunately has been one of the worst guards in the NFL during his three years as a pro. He ended the 2024 season with a Pro Football Focus grade of 38.6. For context, an “average” grade from PFF is 60.0, which shows just how below average he’s been when on the field.

Steelers finalizing deal with RB Kenneth Gainwell - Behind The Steel Curtain
Gainwell was a third-down, change of pace back with the Eagles, who also returned 18 kickoffs in 2024. He could fill a similar role with the Steelers, and the signing could mark the end of Cordarrelle Patterson’s stint in the black and gold.

Browns Kenny Pickett trade: Deep dive into the why and what it might mean - Dawgs By Nature
Pickett is in the final year of his rookie deal, which will pay him $2.6 million. His fifth-year option will need to be addressed at some point. He is just 26 years old and can continue to grow into a starting QB in this league. With the Browns, he does perhaps get a shot to start again, which he would never do with Philadelphia who love Hurts as their starter, plus the development of backup QB Tanner McKee. Before free agency began, the Browns’ quarterback room had more questions than answers. Now, suddenly, there is some clarity. The backup quarterback role is solved.

Miles Sanders has been released - Cat Scratch Reader
The Carolina Panthers have announced that they have released running back Miles Sanders. The former Philadelphia Eagles standout was signed to a four-year, $25M contract in 2023. In two disappointing seasons with the Panthers, Sanders only started seven games and never truly competed with Chuba Hubbard for the starting role. Sanders only played in 27 games for the Panthers, totalling 184 carries for 637 yards and three touchdowns. That was a far cry from the 3708 yards he amassed in four years with the Eagles.

Vikings to Sign DL Javon Hargrave Following His Release - Daily Norseman
Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network is reporting that the Vikings are closing in on a deal with another two-time Pro Bowl player in defensive lineman Javon Hargrave. The San Francisco 49ers are expected to release him on Wednesday when the new league year starts, and the Vikings are expected to sign him after that happens. Hargrave has been in the league for a while, as he was drafted in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers. He spent his first four seasons in Pittsburgh, and then signed with the Philadelphia Eagles in free agency. He then played for the Eagles for three seasons before moving on to the Niners in 2023. Hargrave only played in three games in 2024 before suffering a torn right bicep in a game against the Los Angeles Rams, an injury that caused him to miss the remainder of the season.

Washington Commanders Free Agency: Jonathan Allen agrees to 3-year, $60 million deal with the Vikings - Hogs Haven
The Washington Commanders attempted to trade Jonathan Allen, but there were no takers, so he was released. This allowed him to get a head start on free agency before the legal tampering began, and teams started spending big money. Allen reportedly visited the Minnesota Vikings, and has agreed to a 3-year, $60 million contract per Adam Schefter.

Cowboys re-signing WR/PR KaVontae Turpin to 3-year deal - Blogging The Boys
The Dallas Cowboys have been pretty active on Tuesday in the midst of the NFL free agency frenzy. After adding veteran defensive lineman Solomon Thomas on a two-year deal, the Cowboys are bringing back wide receiver/kick returner KaVontae Turpin on a three-year deal worth $18 million, making him the highest paid special teams player in the league, although he logs significant time on offense, too.

New York Giants, Pittsburgh Steelers appear to be waiting on Aaron Rodgers - Big Blue View
The wildly-spinning NFL quarterback carousel has stopped for the moment, with the New York Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers waiting on a decision from future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers. Geno Smith has moved from Seattle to Las Vegas. Sam Darnold from Minnesota to Seattle. Justin Fields from Pittsburgh to the New York Jets. Daniel Jones from Minnesota to Indianapolis. A Rodgers decision appears to be next. What will it be? Will Rodgers choose to stay in New York to try and erase the stain left on his legacy by his failed two-year tenure with the Jets? That might help Brian Daboll keep his job with the Giants. Will he join future Hall of Fame coach Mike Tomlin in Pittsburgh, where the Steelers are perennially a playoff contender?

NFL’s 10 best free agents still available on 2025 market, ranked - SB Nation
The first day of the NFL’s legal tampering period has come and gone, and day two is upon us. After Monday’s flurry of moves, who are the best available players? While the opening of the tampering period generates the most buzz, the days that follow are where rosters are truly built, and games can be won. For teams — and their fans — still looking for moves, here are some names to watch.

AJ Dillon: 5 things to know about the Eagles’ new running back

Minnesota Vikings v Green Bay Packers

Packers perspective on Philadelphia’s new RB.

The Philadelphia Eagles finally made an external free agent addition by signing former Green Bay Packers running back AJ Dillon to a one-year contract on Wednesday evening.

Let’s learn more about the newest member of Philly’s backfield by getting a Packers perspective on him. Here’s what Justis Mosqueda of Acme Packing Company had to say about Dillon through answers to my questions.

1 - Can you recap his time with the Packers?

When he was drafted to the Packers, Pro Football Focus’ live stream of the draft went crazy calling him a fullback, so Packers fans really rallied around Dillon for a while. Early on in his career, he had a standout game in primetime against the Tennessee Titans in the snow and from there on out a meme about “Dillon weather” kind of started. Unfortunately, he was never really able to catch that same magic again. He was a solid RB2 for Aaron Jones, but he mostly was put into the game to do the dirty work. I’ll get into some of the positives of his game in a sec.

2 - The Eagles obviously have one of the best run blocking offensive lines in the NFL. Do you think Dillon could have success as a backup RB in Philly?

Sure! Brandon, I think you might be a decent running back behind that line. I’m very jealous. In seriousness, he’s already been exposed to a similar run system with the Packers. They were more of a zone/duo team than a two-back or power team when Dillon was healthy. We haven’t seen him in over a year, though.

3 - What are his strengths?

First of all, he’s a very big man. For a big man, he’s pretty athletic. He doesn’t have the coordination you’d want from an NFL back, but he can stride when he’s in the open field for a dude who is 240 pounds. That will catch your eye quickly. He also is a pretty good pass-catcher. You wouldn’t think it, but there’s plenty of tape out there of him catching wheel routes and stuff along the sideline. One of his best traits though is his pass blocking ability. I’m sure size helps there. Green Bay would frequently run an empty set where he was basically in a tight end position so they could max protect out of 11 personnel and let their three receivers get downfield while Dillon and a TE chipped and then released.

4 - What are his weaknesses?

The coordination thing, man. His feet go crazy sometimes and you remember why guys that big don’t play in the NFL very often. It wouldn’t be shocking if out of every 30 carries, he slipped or tripped over his own feet at least once. The other thing is the medical. He had a stinger late in 2023 and ended up being shutdown with a neck injury in 2024 before the regular season even began.

5 - Anything to know about him off the field?

He has a podcast that doesn’t get many views if you guys wanna juice that thing up. He’s also Jewish and a sports card collector. I think he hunts his own 1 of 1 cards. I’m pretty sure he streams himself playing a game where you mow lawns on a tractor or something on Twitch. He’s a good dude. You guys will like his personality.

BLG’s take: The Eagles lost Kenny Gainwell, a running back who can catch and pass block. The Eagles added Dillon, a running back who can catch and pass block. It’s obviously not a one-for-one replacement with Dillon (6’0”, 247) being much bigger than Gainwell (5’9”, 200). There’s also no real guarantee Dillon even makes the roster; I’ve seen some compare this to the Eagles’ Rashaad Penny signing from two years ago and that’s not totally unfair. But there’s a chance that Dillon could pair with Will Shipley to be quality backup running back options behind Saquon Barkley. Of course, we’ll need see if Dillon is truly healthy and if he can stay that way.
