The Eagles are drafting a DT. But who will it be?

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: NOV 02 Ole Miss at Arkansas

Photo by Andy Altenburger/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images

Always invest in the lines

There is no doubt that the Eagles will draft a defensive tackle. Milton Williams, second on the DT depth chart in snaps played, left in free agency and the Eagles have not signed a DT in free agency, and any they do between now and the draft is unlikely to make an impact.

The Eagles will take DT in all shapes and sizes, from short (6’1.5” Marlon Tuipulotu) to tall (6’6 ⅜” Jordan Davis); from light (Milton Williams and Moro Ojomo are under 290 lbs) to heavy (Jordan Davis and Noah Ellis are over 340 lbs). It’s not the size that matters, it’s what you do with it, and the Eagles prefer quick DTs. All but three DT acquired during the Nick Sirianni era clocked a 10 yard split of 1.72 or under, and two of those three weighed 320+ lbs; all but two a shuttle of 4.67; and all but one a 3 cone time of 7.71 or under.

So pretty much everyone that has been consistently mocked in the first few rounds of the draft is in play for the Eagles. We can split them into two buckets.

The big boys

The Eagles developmental DTs are all on the lighter side, Gabe Hall and Byron Young are under 300 lbs and Thomas Booker is just 301. Milton Williams, at 291, was also lean. But Jordan Davis’ future is a question, so they may look to go with someone who can compete with him now and potentially replace him.

Alfred Collins, Texas

At 6’5”, 332 and with long arms, Collins, a 5 star from the 2020 class, certainly looks the type on paper. On tape, not so much. When he flashes he looks really good, but the flashes are too far and few between consistent missed opportunities.

Collins didn’t test at the Combine, and he didn’t participate at his pro day due to a foot injury. His play and his inability to test make it difficult to justify him as a top 100 prospect that many consider him to be.

Kenneth Grant, Michigan

Like Jordan Davis, Grant is a huge run stuffing NT with good athletic upside who could flip the table for Carter, giving him a partner who could command double teams that free up Carter.

Grant has great play strength, dominating interior lineman, making it a waste of time for teams to run at him. Like Davis he needs improvement as a pass rusher, but the Eagles will take that bet.

Tyleik Williams, Ohio State

In 2021 The Eagles had an organizational shift in draft philosophy: after years of ignoring top players on top teams, they actually started drafting key players from the best teams in college. It is not a coincidence they made two Super Bowls since then, winning one. Last year they got away from that but still had a great draft. They may be going back to the well this year. Tyleik Williams is the best defensive player on the defending national champions.

Of the top 330+ lb DTs, Williams is the best pass rusher, consistently generating good pressure. He is the complete package, it is surprising that he is not more highly rated.

The lean guys

If the Eagles prefer a like for like replacement for Milton Williams, they’ll look to DTs with leaner frames.

Darius Alexander, Toledo

The Eagles will already be familiar with Alexander, having two of his teammates from last year on the roster in 1st round pick Quinyon Mitchell and UDFA Dallas Gant.

Alexander pops on tape, his speed and athleticism clearly a step above the low level of competition he faced in the MAC, and he backed up the tape with strong testing at the Combine. He brings a quickness that should pair well next to the double teams that Jalen Carter commands.

But his play leaves a lot to be desired against the run, where he consistently struggles; and a fifth year breakout against poor level of competition brings questions about how high both his floor and ceiling are.

Mason Graham, Michigan

Will not be on the board.

Derrick Harmon, Oregon

The appeal of Harmon is easy to see, he’s a height/weight/speed/measurement freak at 6’4, 313 lbs, with arms over 34”, hands over 10”, a sub 5 second 40, and a 10 yard split of 1.74. Oregon lined him all over the defensive line, from EDGE to NT. His athletic profile says his ceiling is sky high, his tape shows a low floor. Harmon struggles to finish, against FBS competition he had just 3.5 sacks and 9 TFLs. The potential is there, both for a high level of play and to bust out of the league. The Eagles are in a position to bring him along slowly.

Walter Nolen, Ole Miss

A somewhat popular mock draft pick for the Eagles, and it’s easy to see why. Nolen has huge potential, he is the fastest off the snap in this class, his movement is great, and he’s got a great frame. His ceiling is extremely high, but he needs to gain consistency. But if he had that consistency, he likely wouldn’t be available to the Eagles.

TJ Sanders, South Carolina

Sanders is a disruptive pass rusher. And despite being under 300 lbs, South Carolina used TJ Sanders as a nose tackle, and he excelled as a run stopper. It is surprising he is not higher rated, he has a strong athletic profile, can play 1 gap or 2 gap, and was productive.

Eagles reportedly host potential first-round edge rusher on pre-draft visit

Missouri v Texas A&M

Philadelphia continues to gather information on pass rushing prospects.

It’s time to add yet another prospect to BGN’s Philadelphia Eagles’ pre-draft visits tracker leading up to the 2025 NFL Draft.

The Birds will be hosting Texas A&M edge rusher Nic Scourton at the NovaCare Complex, according to Ryan Fowler.

Scourton is the No. 31 prospect ranked by Pro Football Focus and No. 49 prospect ranked by Daniel Jeremiah. The 20-year-old could be an option for the Eagles at No. 32 or if they trade out of the first round.

Scourton played at Purdue in 2022 and 2023 before transferring to Texas A&M in 2024. Playing in 37 total games, Scourton logged 17 sacks, 31 tackles for loss, and three forced fumbles. His most productive season came in 2023, when he had 10 sacks.

The Eagles are clearly doing homework on pass rushing prospects leading up to this year’s draft. Scourton is a contender to join their rotation.

Scouting report via NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein:

Physical edge presence with the potential for creating havoc on all three downs. Scourton can power across the blocker’s face and into gaps but is an average “set-and-contain” run defender. He plays with adequate hustle and range in pursuit and hits runners with heavy pads. He’s an eclectic rusher with a mature rush plan and rarely shows opponents the same look on consecutive plays. He won’t outrace or bulldoze tackles, but he utilizes tempo alterations and a bag full of moves and counters. Teams threw chips and double-teams his way out of concern and respect. Scourton’s size, demeanor and rush talent give him a chance to become a productive three-down starter off the edge.

Nic Scourton is a DE prospect in the 2025 draft class. He does not qualify for a #RAS due to a lack of measurements.https://t.co/yYo7Qu6sgx pic.twitter.com/mPw9VMitt1

The Linc - Cowboys fan argues tush push shouldn't be banned

Philadelphia Eagles v Dallas Cowboys

Philadelphia Eagles news and links for 4/5/25.

Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links ...

NFL owners should be embarrassed for wanting to ban the tush push - SB Nation
RJ Ochoa: In case anyone forgot or does not know... I cover the Dallas Cowboys around here. With that context applied, it brings me no pleasure to tell you all that I think it is the lamest thing in the world that people want to outlaw the tush push. Reports continue to swirl that this could happen and that owners at their fancy meetings are starting to pick up steam as a group for it... that is incredibly embarrassing. The Philadelphia Eagles are really good at this play. That is the end of the story. Other teams can try it (some have!). Nothing is stopping anyone else from doing the work involved to get as good at it as Philadelphia is. Wanting to outlaw the play because the Eagles are significantly better than anyone else is humiliating for anyone on that side of the argument and even as a Cowboys fan I will stand up and defend the Eagles for doing nothing wrong. I hate this timeline.

Jason Kelce is sick of being misinterpreted on the Tush Push - Inquirer
But Kelce said Wednesday on New Heights that those comments were misinterpreted, and doubled down on social media on Friday, offering to show up and testify on behalf of the play at the May meetings. “I think the good gentleman from Buffalo appears to have misunderstood my meaning of the word grueling, I have never called the play dangerous,” Kelce wrote on X. “If the NFL wishes to summon me for legitimate thoughts on the Tush Push under oath, I’d be glad to give my testimony.”

Dan Campbell on tush push: Eagles found something, it’s up to everybody else to stop it - PFT
Lions coach Dan Campbell says the Eagles’ tush push needs to be stopped by opposing defenses, not a change to the NFL rulebook. Campbell was asked at the league meeting if the tush push should remain legal, and he made clear that he doesn’t think it’s fair to pass a rule designed to stop one team from a successful play it has devised. “I am of the school that they found something and it’s up to everybody else to stop it. So I’m a hard yes,” Campbell said.

NFL Mock Draft 2025: Eagles 7-round simulation, Version 5.0 - BGN
Round 1, Pick 32 (for the Super Bowl Winner): Derrick Harmon, Defensive Lineman, Oregon. The Eagles get a slam dunk pick at the end of the first round here. With Milton Williams well paid in New England, the Eagles grab a disruptive defensive lineman to take his place. Harmon has the size and athleticism to play all three-downs, giving the Eagles an excellent interior rotation with him, Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, and Moro Ojomo.

Projecting who will win the Eagles’ five open starting jobs - PhillyVoice
Tight end. We’re projecting here that Dallas Goedert will not be on the 2025 roster, likely to be traded or cut sometime after June 1, when the financial impact of his departure will be more palatable. Grant Calcaterra started 14 games for the Eagles last season — 13 in the regular season, one in the playoffs. He is very clearly the favorite to be the Eagles’ TE1 in 2025. The Eagles also signed veterans Harrison Bryant and Kylen Granson, who will compete for roles. The 2025 draft is loaded with tight end talent, both at the top of the draft and will players more likely to be taken on Days 2 and 3. Still, even if the Eagles select a tight end with an early pick, Calcaterra has shown enough — at least as a receiver — to fend off a rookie in the short term. Likely starter: Grant Calcaterra, at, like, 90%. (Let’s put percentages next to each favorite, cool? Cool.)

Let’s Talk Visits - Iggles Blitz
OT – Jeff Stoutland likes players who stand out in some way. Grant, Mbow and Conerly are all gifted athletes. They could play OG or OT and have fantastic movement skills. Travis and Melton are each at least 6-6 and 336. Those are big maulers. OG – Jackson has good versatility and size. He started at LG and LT. He would need to be an early pick. Fairchild is a Day 3 player. He’s got good size, but isn’t special physically. I think Stoutland likes him for a combination of his size/ability and his personality.

Nick Sirianni excited to see even more young players on field in 2025 - NBCSP
The Eagles in 2024 had a bunch of young players in prominent roles throughout the season. That won’t change in 2025. With a top-heavy roster and after losing several veteran players this offseason, there will be even more opportunity for younger players to see the field as the Eagles attempt to defend their Super Bowl championship. “With some of the new faces that will be starting on our team next year, I’m excited about that,” head coach Nick Sirianni said at the NFL’s annual meetings this week. “When you’re in a program that has been successful what you notice about the guys who have been waiting for their opportunity to play and the new faces that are coming in, getting an opportunity to play on the Philadelphia Eagles, there’s just this hunger. I’m excited for the new faces that are going to be able to contribute and get their opportunity to do some things with the loss of some of these guys. It’s really a great challenge and a great opportunity for a lot of these guys to go out there. I know I’ll see hunger and desire and just this, ‘Hey, now it’s my turn to go out there and perform.’”

Former Falcons great Julio Jones retires - The Falcoholic
After spending 2024 out of the league, Julio announced his retirement on Friday. The tributes poured in from fans and NFLers alike, with Jones saying he chose April 4th (404) as the day for his announcement because of his love for Atlanta. There’s a very good chance he’ll wind up in the Pro Football Hall of Fame a few years down the line. [BLG Note: Former Eagles news.]

Washington Commanders mock draft with trade back - Hogs Haven
Pick 33 (RD2 - From Cleveland): Benjamin Morrison, CB, Notre Dame. Injury concerns drop Morrison out of round one, and Adam Peters pounces. At a tad over 6’ and a sturdy 195 pounds, Morrison can be brought along slowly until he’s ready to take the field. Like Jer’Zhan Newton in 2024, the value here is just too good to pass up with an early pick in round two. He is a scheme-diverse outside corner who can play man or zone effectively. Morrison would pair nicely with Lattimore on the outside and gives Washington a formidable cornerback room with solid depth to boot.

Report: WR Tetairoa McMillan could be Cowboys target with 12th overall pick - Blogging The Boys
The Dallas Cowboys will have all eyes on them once the 12th pick comes about in the NFL draft later this month. Dallas has plenty of roster holes, and they need instant impact guys that can contribute immediately since they rely so heavily on building their roster through the draft. There have been a ton of players linked to the Cowboys at various positions, particularly at wide receiver. Matthew Golden out of Texas and Luther Burden out of Missouri have been popular choices. So has Arizona’s Tetairoa McMillan, and on Thursday when draft analyst Todd McShay talked about his top 150 big board heading into the draft, he mentioned there’s some buzz around Dallas taking McMillan in the first round. “I’m hearing a lot of noise about Tet going 12 to Dallas.”

NFL Draft rumors: New York Giants among teams Jaxson Dart has spent the ‘most time’ with - Big Blue View
The New York Giants are one of the four teams Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart has spent the “most time” with leading up to the 2025 NFL Draft, per NFL insider Ian Rapoport. The others, per Rapoport, are the Cleveland Browns (who have picks 2 and 33), the New Orleans Saints (who have pick No. 9) and the Pittsburgh Steelers, who have pick No. 21. The Giants, of course, have picks 3 and 34 in the first two rounds. Dart visited the Pittsburgh Steelers on Friday, with Rapoport saying that will be his last visit. That, of course, would mean Dart has almost certainly already visited with the Giants in East Rutherford. “If you’re the Giants and you view him as a first-round quarterback do you take him at 3? But then there’s no guarantee you’re going to get him in the back half of the first round if you trade back in,” Rapoport said.

2025 NFL draft: Latest buzz, Colorado’s pro day, sleepers - ESPN+
The lack of true first-round grades in this class is notable. On average, most teams usually have 15 to 20 prospects who are considered true first-round talents. Two high-level NFL executives told me this week that neither of their teams reached that number. What does that mean? Expect to hear unlikely names in Round 1. Because of the lack of high-end talent, many teams are equating the quality of players in the middle of the first round to prospects in the middle of Round 2. [...] After speaking with multiple scouts this week, Boston College edge rusher Donovan Ezeiruaku is a player teams are hot after in this loaded edge rusher group. He had a breakout senior season with the second-most sacks in the FBS (16.5), and he followed that up with a standout Senior Bowl performance. Viewed as an early Day 2 prospect in January, Ezeiruaku could now be picked as high as No. 15 to the Falcons or No. 18 to the Seahawks.

Do you want to see the Eagles on Hard Knocks?

Super Bowl LIX: Kansas City Chiefs v Philadelphia Eagles

Whether you like it or not, the Birds might be featured on HBO this year.

The Philadelphia Eagles are suddenly now eligible to be featured on HBO’s Hard Knocks training camp series.

NFL teams were previously exempt from being forced to participate in the show if they met at least one of the three following conditions:

  • They have a first-year head coach.
  • They made the playoffs in either of the last two years.
  • They appeared on Hard Knocks within the last 10 years.

The league changed those conditions this year, however:

NFL chief media and business officer Brian Rolapp mentioned on Monday how the league has liberalized its rules for Hard Knocks. Here is the full rule—the "non-playoff" requirement has been removed to compel a team.

This really opens up the NFL's options for HK this summer. pic.twitter.com/2T2j0GIPNS

— Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) April 2, 2025

As such, the Eagles are now one of 20 teams eligible to be selected as this year’s training camp subject.

That is, unless they’re already slated to be part of the in-season edition if the NFC East is selected to be this year’s featured division.

While some fans might enjoy the special behind-the-scenes access (which will likely still be limited if the 2019 Amazon feature series on the Eagles was any indication), others will view the extra cameras and spotlight as a distraction.

Where do you fall on wanting to see the Eagles on Hard Knocks? For it or against it? Scroll down to the comments below and weigh in!

2025 NFL Mock Draft: San Francisco 49ers select offensive lineman

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: SEP 14 Boston College at Missouri

Photo by Scott Winters/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images

With the 11th overall pick in the 2025 Bleeding Green Nation community mock draft, San Francisco 49ers GM granthill7 selects ...

Armand Membou, OT, Missouri

Unfortunately, I’m not sure the 49ers could be any happier with the way this draft has played out.

Let’s start with the team. San Fransisco had a woeful Super Bowl hangover (thanks in part to a league-leading 141.2 adjusted games lost due to injury) that just lost a plethora of role players in free agency in preparation for a Brock Purdy extension. The team did little to replace multiple losses across both the offensive and defensive lines, and question marks remain in the wide receiver room with Brandon Aiyuk’s injury and the loss of Deebo Samuel. With various stalwarts (Christian McCaffrey, George Kittle, Trent Williams) getting older, there are many directions this pick could go.

That being said, at 11 the pick has to be offensive tackle Armand Membou out of Missouri. Membou is an elite athlete at a premium position that just so happens to be a need in both the short and long term. Ever since nailing the combine (9.90 RAS, per Kent Lee Platte) Membou’s stock has been on a rocket ship, and he has now widely cemented himself as a top-10 pick, even top-5 for some. He’s one of four linemen ever to record a 30-inch vertical and sub-5.00 forty yard dash at 315+ pounds, joining only Tristen Wirfs, Trent Williams, and Will Campbell. His movement skills jump off of the screen, making him a perfect fit for Kyle Shanahan’s zone blocking scheme. Membou recorded the 2nd most outside zone run blocking plays while recording a top-3 PFF grade on those plays, so he already has experience and proven ability in Shanahan’s system. A nasty finisher with powerful hands, Membou is still loose and fluid in pass protection. What he lacks in height he more than makes up for in bulk and has the requisite length to succeed in the NFL, and he absolutely shines on the move during outside zone runs.

The 49ers can slot Membou in at his natural position at RT while Colton McKivitz slides over to LG to replace Aaron Banks. Eventually he can become the heir apparent to Trent Williams on the left. BGN knows better than anyone the value in building up the offensive line, so establishing a dominant tackle duo to protect your high dollar quarterback is too tantalizing to pass on. The 49ers sprint to the podium and count their lucky stars that their perfect talent and prospect fit somehow fell through the cracks.

2025 NFL Mock Draft: Dallas Cowboys choose blocking help

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: OCT 26 Texas at Vanderbilt

Photo by Michael Wade/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images

With the 12th overall pick in the 2025 Bleeding Green Nation community mock draft, Dallas Cowboys GM Be subpar for Ja’Marr selects ...

Kelvin Banks Jr., OT, Texas

After becoming the owner of the ONLY National Football Conference team in the league that hasn’t made it to the Conference Final this century, Jerry Jones has FINALLY decided to relinquish some power so that this team can possibly see one more Lombardi before he kicks the bucket. Now, it’s up to me to fix this dumpster fire

If this were real life, I’d probably start calling around to see if anyone’s interested in Shedeur Sanders. Jerry has created such a mess that adding more picks to the arsenal doesn’t sound like a bad idea. If Tennessee, Vegas, or Cleveland are willing to trade their early 30s pick along with a 2026 first-rounder, I think it’s a deal you have to consider. Since the draft order is static, I’ll go with the player I believe is the best fit at 12. And that player is Kelvin Banks Jr. (OL, Texas).

I honestly expected this to be a bit easier. This team has so many holes that you could probably throw a dart at a draft board and find an upgrade over a current player. However, with a few players falling further than expected, I had to make a tough decision.

Before I get into my pick, I’ll take a look at Dallas’ other needs to see if there’s a better option available.

Quarterback

This might not be the biggest need, but since I already mentioned Shedeur, I’ll just go ahead and address this now. **I wrote this before the Cowboys traded for Joe Milton. Not changing it.**

Player considered: Sheduer Sanders

Current players: Dak Prescott, Will Grier

Shedeur at a glance: 6’1, 212 pounds- 2024 stats: 4134 yards, 37 TDS, 10 INTS

Ceiling: Joe Burrow (Laugh.. I do not care)

Floor: Jake Browning

Base: Geno Smith

Argument for: Trolling aside, this is a legitimate need. Dak Prescott tore his hamstring off the bone last season, missing nine games. He missed four games in 2022 due to a broken thumb and 11 games in 2020 with a dislocated ankle. When he actually is healthy, he can put up some pretty little stats in the regular season, but we all know what tends to happen in January.

$$$: Jerry values the star’s brand over actual winning, and the Sanders name brings in money. 9.3 million people tuned in to watch a Colorado vs. Colorado State game with a 10 p.m. EST kickoff. There’s real on-field value in this. Shedeur is used to playing under the spotlight. While he’s had his fair share of struggles and hasn’t seen postseason success, I wouldn’t chalk that up to mental pressure. He thrives under it. If put in the right position, I believe he’ll have no issue playing for a team everyone loves to see fail.

Argument against:

Thanks to Jerry’s masterful contract negotiations, Dak Prescott is essentially locked in for the foreseeable future. Sanders would likely have to sit for at least two years, which may not be the worst thing in the world. The real question is whether Shedeur and papa can keep their egos in check and stay patient in the media while waiting for his turn. Coach Prime has openly criticized his own offensive line in front of the media mid-season at Colorado. It could get loud. That kind of dynamic could turn into a headache.

Verdict:

I’d need to think this over more if Dak didn’t just sign a deal that leaves almost $200 million in dead cap over the next two seasons. Sanders is high risk, but also comes with the potential for high reward. Despite the bust potential, his value here is still solid. If Dak stays healthy, the team will likely pick around 20-25 next year, making it harder to land a top QB without trading up. Ultimately, I’d rather focus on building the team now and look for a quarterback later. The team that does eventually take Sanders may struggle with the media circus, and you could probably get him for a better value in a couple of years anyway.

Running Back

Players Considered: Omarrion Hampton, I guess

Current Players: Javonte Williams, Miles Sanders, Deuce Vaughn

I’m bringing up running back because I keep seeing Dallas fans pushing for Ashton Jeanty. He’s not on the board in our draft, but even if he were, I wouldn’t consider him. A lot of people think Howie Roseman has changed the narrative on running backs, and some GMs will try to zig after Howie has already zagged. The thing is, even Saquon Barkley himself wouldn’t look competent behind the dreadful Dallas O-line. I love the guy, but we saw what he looked like in NY behind a cruddy O-line. Just a Bugatti in a trailer park.

Verdict: Fix the line and target Quinshon Judkins or TreVeyon Henderson later.

Wide Receiver

Player considered: Tetairoa McMillan

Tet at a glance: 2024 stats- 84 catches, 1319 yards, 8 TDS

Ceiling: Mike Evans

Floor: Kelvin Benjamin

Base: Drake London

When I first saw Teitoroa McMillan still on the board, my mind locked onto him immediately. Luther Burden III and Matthew Golden are good as well, and WR is a need, but T-Mac is really the only one I’d seriously consider at 12.

Argument for:

As I said, it is a need. Ever since trading Amari Cooper for a pack of Starburst, Jerry has not found a WR2 that really scares opposing defensive coordinators. The Cowboys were 31st in red zone offense last season, and at 6’4” with 10” hands, McMillan can pluck Dak’s errant passes out of the sky. Watch the tape of him against BGN’s first overall pick, Travis Hunter, and you’ll see the Heisman just trying to hold on for dear life.

Argument against:

Something like this:

I was about ready to lock in T-Mac, but then I ended up talking myself out of it. I had a flashback of Burrow on 4th and 1 with the Super Bowl on the line, getting swung around and put on his ass just 0.2 seconds after the snap.

Verdict: As Eagles fans, we know the meme above isn’t 100% accurate—unless “Anybody” means “Anybody besides James Thrash, Todd Pinkston, Travis Fulgham, or Jalen Reagor.” But at the end of the day, I just think it’s easier to find WR talent elsewhere, whether through trade or with a Day 2 pick.

It’s definitely possible to find OL talent outside of the first round too, with Jordan Mailata, Cam Jurgens, and Landon Dickerson serving as proof. But Jeff Stoutland isn’t on my coaching staff here.

Cornerback

Player Considered: Shavon Revel

Current Players: Trevon Diggs, Daron Bland, several miscellaneous 1st and 2nd-round picks from the last few years that have failed elsewhere

Shavon at a glance: 2 INTs, 1 torn ACL

Ceiling: Richard Sherman

Floor: Kevin King

Base: Tariq Woolen

Argument for:

Argument against:

Verdict: I’d have to think about this a bit more if Shevon hadn’t torn his ACL. If I’m the Dallas GM, I am on my knees praying this man isn’t sitting there at 32, but I can’t make the pick here.

Edge

Many draft sites highlight this as a significant need, but I disagree. While Shemar Stewart and James Pearce Jr. are viable options, I don’t believe this should be a priority in the first round. With the addition of Dante Fowler Jr. to replace a declining DeMarcus Lawrence, I think the team can afford to address depth at this position later in the draft and be set for now.

Interior Defensive Line

Player considered: Derrick Harmon

Derrick at a glance: 6’5, 330 lbs 11 TFL, 5 sacks

Ceiling: Fletcher Cox (?)

Floor: Teair Tart

Base: Johnathan Hankins

Argument for: Mazi Smith is bad at football. Jerry took him over Super Bowl Champion Nolan Smith (lol)

Argument against: I really don’t have anything. If you’re going to vote ‘no’ in the ‘Do you approve of this pick?’ poll for skipping on interior DL help, that’s fair. Dallas was 28th in opponents’ yards per carry last season. They were also first in rushing TDs allowed. To even have a prayer of stopping the Eagles, or even the Lions and Packers, Dallas needs to shore up their run defense.

Offensive line

Player Considered and Taken: Kelvin Banks Jr.

Current Players: Tyler Guyton, Terence Steele, a bunch of scrubs

Kelvin at a glance: 6’5”, 315 pounds. 4 career sacks allowed in over 1,500 snaps.

Ceiling: Trent Williams

Floor: Andrus Peat

Base: Rashawn Slater

Argument For:

  • Dallas ranked 30th in yards per carry last season and 24th in pass block win rate. This was before future Hall of Famer Zach Martin (who, to be fair, was starting to slide) decided to retire. Adding Banks would help address both the run game and pass protection, giving Dak at least a fighting chance behind a better line.

  • Tyler Guyton: 2nd most penalized tackle in the league, with 6 sacks allowed on 668 snaps.

  • Terence Steele: 7 penalties and 9 sacks allowed on 1,168 snaps.

Argument Against:

  • Maybe Jerry’s 2024 first-round pick, Tyler Guyton, should be given some grace. He played defensive tackle in high school, spent his first two college seasons at TCU as an H-back, and didn’t really start playing tackle until just three years ago at Oklahoma. He primarily played on the right side before being drafted and then asked to move to the left to replace another future Hall of Famer, Tyron Smith.

  • I’m not sure what the ideal layout looks like here. You could draft Banks and move him to guard to fill in for Martin, but it’s tough to justify picking a guard at 12. A more sensible option might be to draft Banks to play left tackle and move Guyton over to compete at right tackle with Terence Steele. On one hand, Steele was the only offensive lineman who performed well in run blocking last season. On the other hand, he was a liability in pass protection, and you could save $14 million by cutting him next offseason. This savings would come in handy, especially considering Jerry’s usual habit of waiting until the last minute to sign his stars—like Micah Parsons—which means we’ll likely have to back up the Brinks truck.

TL;DR

Dak = bad

RB = bad too

WR (besides CeeDee) = bad

Really, everything else is bad, except Parsons, Aubrey, and Lamb.

At the end of the day, when you’ve got a QB making $200 million and coming off a catastrophic leg injury, you can’t afford to have a turnstile in front of him.

If you make a “safe pick” like Banks here, I think you can afford to be a little more aggressive later. If Burden, Golden, or Ravel somehow fall to the mid-30s, you have to go “all in.” Taking Jaxon Dart at 44 wouldn’t be out of the question either.

Whether you agree or disagree with the pick, I’m sure we can all agree that we should be thankful Jerral Wayne Jones Sr. is the owner and de facto GM of the team down south.

2025 NFL Mock Draft: Miami Dolphins choose cornerback

NFL Scouting Combine

With the 13th overall pick in the 2025 Bleeding Green Nation community mock draft, Miami Dolphins GM thehead92 selects ...

Jahdae Barron, CB, Texas

Let’s start by stating a few facts about the Miami Dolphins ... or at the very least some opinions, stated AS facts:

  • Since Mike McDaniel became the HC back in 2022 the Dolphins have gone 28-23 in the regular season with two unconvincing exits in the first round of the playoffs.
  • GM Chris Grier has been with the Dolphins since 2016 and during that 9 year stretch the Dolphins have only made it to the playoffs 3 times (all first-round losses on the road).

But I would argue that the most damaging thing about the Miami Dolphins is that as a team they don’t have an identity. As cool and hip as Mike McDaniel was when he arrived on the scene in south Florida back in 2022, over the past few years the rest of the NFL has exposed the gimmicky style of play; kind of like ... fake tans and Jheri curls. They are essentially a track team that fades down the stretch. DO BETTER!

Major needs that need to be addressed in the 2025 NFL Draft:

OLine | CB | iDL

The player

Jahdae Barron has played a lot of outside CB this past year at Texas and had his best college season doing so; he has true positional flexibility and could easily play in the slot as well.

  • Jahdae is a physical corner with very good short area quickness and ability to break on routes; 5 interceptions and 6 PBUs on only 53 targets this year, holding QBs to a 27 QB rating, best in his class
  • Solid run defender and always around the ball, 38 tackles and 8% missed tackle rate are both near the top of his class
  • Played a lot of zone coverage and one of the best given his ability to close quickly, which would be ideal in new DC Anthony Weaver’s (formerly of the Baltimore Ravens) hybrid scheme which requires players to be ‘multiple’
  • Jahdae is an athletic freak - his Next Gen stats give him a 94 overall point score. The only player higher was Travis Hunter at 99, the next closest was Will Johnson at 80 - Imbed attachment if possible (see below)

The person

This young man distinguished himself as the 2024 Jim Thorpe Award recipient along with countless other awards during his time at Texas.

Jahdae is described as a high character teammate who brings some ‘juice’ and identity. All you need to do is put on the tape of any Texas Longhorn game and the energy and fire Jahdae brings is unmistakable and something that the Dolphins could really use in 2025.

Player comp

Philly’s very own Cooper DeJean

Don’t overthink the pick if this player is available with the 13th pick, put your sunglasses in your pocket, slick back your hair and run that card up to Roger Goodell.

Thank you for reading this, it was a pleasure writing it. If you agree/disagree, light me up in the comment section, I would expect nothing less.

I can’t thank the Bleeding Green Nation community enough and BLG in particular for the countless hours of enjoyment we all get here. Fly EAGLES Fly!

2025 NFL Mock Draft: Indianapolis Colts go offensive line

Illinois State v North Dakota State

With the 14th overall pick in the 2025 Bleeding Green Nation community mock draft, Indianapolis Colts GM green1us selects ...

Grey Zabel, OL, North Dakota State

A lineman who has played all across the offensive line. And with that versatility, he has the ability to start from day one. But it will be most likely at guard or right tackle. With an official height of 6’6 and weight of 312 pounds at the NFL Combine, he possesses good size and ability to add more weight if needed. He’s pretty much a direct Will Fries replacement. The way I see it, his future spot might be at left tackle, but he will start inside for a year or two.

Scouting report:

Tough-guy profile on this prospect coming out of North Dakota State. Zabel has an NFL frame with room for additional mass and possesses a good starting point in terms of his play strength. He has to play with really quick hands and good feet in order to compensate for short arms that make sustaining blocks and controlling pass rushers more challenging. Teams might ask Zabel to snap during draft season in order to project positional flexibility.

2025 NFL Mock Draft: Atlanta Falcons pick edge rusher

Tennessee v Vanderbilt

With the 15th overall pick in the 2025 Bleeding Green Nation community mock draft, Atlanta Falcons GM All_Hail_Howie selects ...

James Pearce Jr., EDGE, Tennessee

With the fifteenth pick of the 2025 NFL Draft, the Atlanta Falcons select: Shedeur Sanders James Pearce Jr. The Falcons have fascinated me over the past few years. Rather than go conventional wisdom of finding your franchise QB then building skilled players around him, they went the opposite route. Which (in)famously culminated a year ago by selected Michael Penix Jr.

Having a sophomore QB means I’ve got to pick an OT, right? Well, this class is incredibly weak for Day 1 OTs. Josh Conerly Jr. (CAN WE STOP WITH ALL THESE “JR.”s?!) is not a top-15 player. Although, this draft is incredibly atypical. The first 10 picks ought to be easy enough. The next 25? Who knows. A guy like Pearce could go top-15 or slip to the Birds at 32. Neither scenario would surprise me one bit.

It goes without saying that I evaluated the prospect from his on-field play at Tennessee and his wildly athletic Combine. I.e., I clearly have no idea why teams are taking him off their boards. Hence, I will only really focus on James’ positives. And being a perfect fit to their defense.

Pearce would be so “perfect,” that the Falcons already got his archetype in free agency, when they signed Leonard Floyd to a one-year pact. Albeit, he’s in his early-to-mid 30s, now. I bring it up because their body types are so similar, Pearce could only be helped by such a seasoned vet.

OK, those are the main reasons I decided taking an EDGE rather than “BPA” (T. McMillan, J. Campbell). Lastly, they already have solid production from their WR2 and iLB1.

James Pearce is fun to watch on tape. His Combine-speed of 4.47 (1.56 10-yard) in the 40 shows up all over his film. Despite being a young pup at age-21, he’s been on the national scene for a couple years. In the “way-too-early” mocks from last summer, Pearce was a popular name to go first overall. And yet, he was significantly better in 2024 than ’23.

His pass rush win rate, per PFF, was 23%. Further, his pass rush grade was just-under “elite” status at 89.4. Unlike (my guy) Shemar Stewart, Pearce actually turned his disruption into fantastic production. Over the past two years, as a “true” underclassman, he totals 21 sacks! We all know sack numbers don’t paint the whole picture; however, 21 in two years vs. 1.5 in three, the decision gets easier.

So, he can rush the passer — what about his terrible run-grades?! Not so fast! Much akin to Nolan Smith coming out, Pearce really improved as an edge setter on runs. While I don’t have the exact figures, Pearce improved from high-60s to 84.1 in PFF’s run stopping score! He definitely can use his speed-to-power to lay the oomph on linemen and skill players, alike. Hell, he had a 10.1% run stop rate.

The running of the 4.47 40 was nothing more than an exclamation point rather than a question mark. That is, to say, he is lightning quick getting off blocks. Once disengaged, he’s EVEN faster tracking down the QB or RB.

I don’t get why he isn’t more popular. Is it his measurements? Absolutely not. While not an elite spider graph (insert here), there are certainly no issues, either. James is 6’5” 245, nearly-33” arms and 10” hands. I love big mitts, and AGAIN, they show up on tape.

Last but not least, his bend is really high end. While draftniks may harp on his “long legs, short torso,” I’d prefer that with JPJ. I think his bend is much like a fellow UT alumnus: Derek Barnett. With the glaring exception that JPJ’s best trait is speed vs. it being Barnett’s worst. Think he’s a cleaner prospect, as well. (While the reports are hitting that he’s immature, no one could ever top those horrific DB 15-yard personal fouls, lol.)

The one area I really need JPJ to improve is his core and upper-body strength. As long as he progresses as players his ilk tend to do, we’re looking at a very good-to-great EDGE for a decade. All for the price of the 15th pick. (I’d LOVE if he made it to us; I just don’t see it.) Furthermore, he needs to work on his counter moves. Badly. His are almost nonexistent.

To summarize, he has immense upside and a much higher floor than Shemar Stewart, and Mike Green — as I said, I prefer big mitts (and non-creeps). He bounces or charges off OL eighty-plus pounds heavier than Pearce, as a 20/21-year old true soph a junior playing in the SEC. With his bend and speed, he can beat you right off the LOS for a quick sack. If he gets pushed down, his 0-60 is faster than a Porsche getting back to the QB. I saw few bad reps and a ton of great ones.

I think Pearce is Dallas Turner, if you’re looking for a very reason comp. Both raw, powerful, good lengthed, playing at top programs in the SEC. Oh, and since I’m contractually obligated to fawn praise unto Howie: Jalyx Hunt might end up being a Turner or Pearce type — not bad for the 94th overall pick! More Howie lovin’ apropos to this piece: Our best case scenario, besides Shemar slipping to our range, is getting “both UT” boys: Pearce and Omar Norman-Lott. The former reminds me of part-Josh, part-Nolan and part-Jalyx. Meanwhile, the latter (ONL) looks very similar to Milt.

(On a personal note, I wanted this pick to be a fun one. Having picked Pitts, London, Bijan and Penix is the last four first-rounds, I wanted the QB protected. Oh well; que sera sera. But I truly thought I’d have my pick of the two UGA EDGEs who went in our top-10. I know this is “only” a communal mock, but I actually really like how the top-half of the first-round is shaping up. There are a few picks that won’t happen in real life. Just, every mock has that… even ones done by the “pros.” Oh! Speaking of “pros,” McShay, PFF, Renner and the ilk are “warming up” (again) to James Pearce Jr. Unless his off-the-field nonsense is much more macabre, no way does JPJ escape the top-20. Or top-15 in this exercise.)

I haven’t written an article since my high school newspaper! Fun exercise. Hope it was readable and informative. Since I had the sports beat at my school, it was incredibly cool, as we were winning Catholic League Titles in football and basketball. But man, I’d have killed to have done it when Trotter Jr., Marv Jr., D-Swift, or even OZ were there. Such is life! (I coulda been a contendaa!)

NFL Draft Rankings 2025: Edge rushers

Scooter’s Coffee Frisco Bowl - UTSA v Marshall

Disruption from the edge is crucial to winning on defense in today’s NFL. Just ask the Philadelphia Eagles (and the Kansas City offensive tackles). Philly lost some major production this offseason with the free agent departure of Josh Sweat and the retirement of Brandon Graham. Nolan Smith, who had a really promising season but is recovering from surgery, is currently the Eagles best edge rusher. They have Bryce Huff still, who had a disappointing first year in Philly. Then they have Jalyx Hunt, who has sky high potential and showed flashes late in the season. The Eagles signed BJ Ojulari and Josh Uche to one year deals, both of whom might be able to contribute. But they do not have a “sure thing” in the group outside of maybe Smith. It’s possible they turn to the draft for answers. Luckily for them, and the rest of the NFL, this is an incredibly deep edge defender class. All twenty five players I watched would be worthy of being drafted in the first four rounds. The top seven guys are players who should definitely be first round picks and there are a few others who could make it in at the back end… The Eagles will definitely need to dip, or double dip, into this class for edge talent.

1) Abdul Carter, Penn State

A lot of ink has been spilled about Abdul Carter. And for good reason… the dude is f*cking awesome. There was a period early in the season where I delusionally thought he could be an Eagle. But he just ended up being one of the best players in the country and the Eagles ended up winning the Super Bowl. Not bad for either party.

Anyway, Carter is a freakish athlete and an extremely polished defender. Despite not having a ton of experience playing defensive end, Carter has great awareness, technique, and demeanor for the position. Some medical concerns are floating around but luckily I am not a doctor and can only judge that, on talent, Abdul Carter should be one of the first three names called later this month.

NFL Comparison: Danielle Hunter, Houston Texans

2) Jalon Walker, Georgia

Jalon Walker is one of my favorite prospects in this class. He is just such a cool player.

Walker was a hybrid Linebacker/Edge Defender at Georgia. His combination of speed and ferocity made him an asset wherever the Bulldogs lined him up. NFL teams will probably see him in a similar way.

He is good, not great in “space” as an off-ball defender and his best work definitely comes when he lines up on the line of scrimmage where he can pin his ears back and attack. Walker’s lack of height or weight is offset by quickness, violence, and long strong arms. It’ll be fun to see how a creative coordinator uses him in the NFL.

NFL Comparison: Nik Bonitto, Denver Broncos

3) Donovan Ezeiruaku, Boston College

Another small but mighty edge defender. Donovan Ezeiruaku was highly productive during his career at Boston College. Last season, Ezeiruaku piled up the awards and honors while also piling up 16.5 sacks and 20.5 tackles for a loss.

Ezeiruaku has a unique build at 6’3” and under 250 pounds, both on the smaller side for a defensive end. However he’s well built with long, muscular arms. On the field, he uses blinding speed, great bend, and a consistent technique to disrupt blockers. Bigger, stronger linemen can definitely neutralize him, but it’s entirely reliant on them winning early in the snap… which they rarely do.

Ezeiruaku will need to develop a second wind in the NFL, because linemen will definitely be able to more consistently win off the snap. He can’t win on initial speed alone. But the talent is evident and he could thrive in the right defense… maybe one that has Jalen Carter in it… Just saying.

NFL Comparison: Haason Reddick, New York Jets

4) Shemar Stewart, Texas A&M

The Shemar Stewart conversation has been polarizing.

After a career at Texas A&M where he didn’t fill the stat sheet much, Shemar Stewart dominated the Senior Bowl before having a historically good combine. At 6’5” and nearly 270 pounds, Stewart is a truly rare athlete at the position and the type of talent that defensive coordinators dream of… but why the lack of pass rush production.

Part of it speaks to Stewart’s role in the Texas A&M defense. He played at a heavier weight than he showed up to the combine at. Texas A&M wanted him playing face-up on offensive tackles, setting the edge and playing the run. It was rare he was paying wide outside the tackle’s shoulder where he was just rushing up field. It’s worth mentioning, he was an awesome run defender at Texas A&M.

Lack of experience as a pure rusher means lack of refinement, and that shows up too. Stewart would try to “athlete” his way through tackles without a plan, which didn’t work often.

I am optimistic about Shemar Stewart. He definitely has a learning curve, steeper than some of his peers in this class, but the talent is too good to write him off. An NFL coach will help him improve his pass rush technique and a smart coordinator will move him around a defensive line to maximize his size and athletic tools.

NFL Comparison: Jadaveon Clowney, Carolina Panthers

5) Mykel Williams, Georgia

Mykel Williams is another “Best Football is Still Very Much Ahead of Him” type of player, similar to Stewart.

Mykel Williams has a NFL ready frame at 6’5” and over 260 pounds with long arms despite not even being 21 years old yet. He can continue to grow physically while improving as a football player.

At Georgia, Williams’ calling card was his high motor and impressive physicality. Williams turned every snap into an all-out brawl. He really made offensive tackles work for every rep. Williams can’t just outwork NFL tackles though. He will need to develop some more moves, especially when rushing the passer.

He is an extremely talented player though that could be a star in the right situation.

NFL Comparison: Michael Bennett, Seattle Seahawks

6) Mike Green, Marshall

Mike Green led the country with 17 sacks in 2024. His ability to rush the passer is quite obvious. As a much smaller player, there would normally be concern about run defense but he thrived on all three downs during his two seasons starting at Marshall.

Green’s talent is not in question. He will need to answer for serious off-field concerns however to make teams comfortable with drafting him. It’s not really my place to judge the maturity and growth of someone I do not know, but the history is upsetting and could take him off teams’ boards. We will see.

NFL Comparison: Elvis Dumervil, Baltimore Ravens

7) James Pearce Jr., Tennessee

James Pearce was a force in the SEC over the last two seasons and it’s easy to see why. Pearce has rare speed for an edge defender, evidenced by his sub 4.5 40-yard dash at the NFL combine.

Pearce relies heavily on speed to dominate competition. His lack of size makes his game a bit one dimensional, but it is a very effective dimension!

Athletes of Pearce’s caliber are typically worth betting very highly on. While there have been murmurs of off-field concerns, nothing substantive has been really brought to light. That’s homework for NFL teams to do. On the field, Pearce can help an NFL team early and could develop into a game changer.

NFL Comparison: Randy Gregory, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Rest

Eagles hosted Ohio State defensive tackle on pre-draft visit

2025 CFP National Championship Presented by AT&T- Ohio State v Notre Dame

Potential Day 2 target for the Birds.

It’s time to add another prospect to BGN’s Philadelphia Eagles’ pre-draft visits tracker leading up to the 2025 NFL Draft.

The Birds hosted Ohio State defensive tackle Tyleik Williams at the NovaCare Complex, according to Aaron Wilson.

Williams is the No. 41 prospect ranked by Pro Football Focus.

The 22-year-old played for the Buckeyes from 2021-2024. Making 25 starts in 51 games, Williams logged 136 tackles, 28 tackles for loss, 11.5 sacks, and one forced fumble.

The Eagles could afford to draft a defensive tackle after losing Milton Williams in free agency. Jordan Davis is currently set to be a free agent after the 2025 season, though it’s possible the team will pick up his fifth-year option for 2026. If the Eagles don’t show faith in Davis, perhaps they’ll be looking to draft someone who can both contribute now and take on a bigger role in the middle of the defensive line moving forward.

Williams seems like an option for the Eagles if they end up trading down from No. 32 or up from No. 64.

Scouting report via NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein:

Drain-clogging run defender with violent first contact and nimble feet for impressive tackle production. Williams flashes an ability to play through or around the block. He physically dominates man-on-man matchups but inconsistent pad level and shorter arms hinder his double-team take-ons. He needs to focus on developing his hands to keep longer NFL guards from getting into him and neutralizing his power. Williams should pressure the pocket from time to time but might not win on his own enough to see many third-down reps. The knock-back pop and ability to eat up runners in his general vicinity could help him become an impactful, run-stuffing three-technique.

The Linc - Eagles have one of the NFL’s top defensive building blocks

Dallas Cowboys v Philadelphia Eagles

Philadelphia Eagles news and links for 4/12/25.

Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links ...

Top 10 NFL defenders to build around in 2025: Micah Parsons, Myles Garrett among ideal centerpieces - NFL.com
10) JALEN CARTER. Jalen Carter is the total package as a dominant defensive tackle with an aggressive game. The third-year pro’s exceptional first-step quickness and heavy hands put blockers in a bind when they are isolated against the Pro Bowler in crucial moments. Presuming Eagles coordinator Vic Fangio continues exploring ways to unleash the 6-3, 314-pounder as a disruptive playmaker at the point of attack, the football world could quickly begin to view the former first-round draft pick as the premier interior defender in the league — and the perfect candidate to lead a unit up front.

Eagles absolutely should not be looking to trade Dallas Goedert - BGN
The Eagles have said goodbye to a lot of people so far this offseason. Josh Sweat. Milton Williams. CJGJ. Darius Slay. Isaiah Rodgers. Oren Burks. Avonte Maddox. Kenny Pickett. Yes, even Kenny Pickett. Most of those departures were understandable, if hard to swallow. Most of them were contained to the defensive side of the ball, where Nick Sirianni and Vic Fangio are relying on younger players already in-house or the upcoming draft to fill the void. When it comes to tight end Dallas Goedert, the Eagles should stand pat.

Eagles player review: CB Kelee Ringo edition - PhillyVoice
Can Ringo cover? That’s what matters. And in my view, the 2024 tape is limited, but I was encouraged by what I saw. And certainly, if Ringo is going to have a bigger role, teammates and coaches aren’t going to stand for the “tackle watching,” so it’s only mildly concerning that we’ll see much of that going forward.

Eagles current state of affairs: Free agency moves, draft prospects - ESPN
Are the Eagles in position to repeat? They’re set up as well as any team in the NFC to go the distance, even though their roster took some hits. The offense remains loaded with difference-makers both up front and at the skill positions. The No. 1 defense from a season ago is facing more turnover, but there’s plenty of ascending talent for maestro defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. As Roseman has noted in the past, the Eagles’ three trips to the Super Bowl in recent seasons correlate to the front office nailing their offseason moves. There is a scenario in which the players brought in on one-year deals, via trade and the draft don’t pan out, leaving Philadelphia vulnerable in some key areas after a year of being strong everywhere. But the front office has developed a pretty strong track record at this point, making it more likely than not that the roster will still be one of the best in the league in ‘25, even as the Eagles prepare for another big contract boom in ‘26 and beyond.

Counting down the 10 greatest defensive plays in Eagles history: Part 2 - NBCSP
Super Bowl LII, U.S. Bank Stadium, Minneapolis. Eagles 41, Patriots 33. On Tom Brady’s 39th pass attempt of the game – a 2nd-and-2 from the Patriots’ 33-yard-line with 2:16 left – the Eagles got their first sack of the game. Brandon Graham’s historic strip sack and forced fumble of Brady was the biggest play of an offensive showdown that saw an NFL-record 1,151 yards, 54 first downs and 74 points. The Patriots had scored touchdowns on three straight drives and had scored on five straight (not including the end of the first half) when B.G., lining up inside, beat right guard Shaq Mason, lunged toward Brady, stuck his left hand out and dislodged the ball from Brady’s grasp. Derrick Barnett recovered on one bounce and by the time the Eagles ran a few plays and the Patriots got the ball back there was only 58 seconds left. Brady completed a few passes and did have a scary Hail Mary attempt to Rob Gronkowski as time expired, but B.G.’s strip sack was the play that truly derailed Brady, Bill Belichick and the Patriots as the Eagles won their first Super Bowl ever. What Brandon Graham said: “When the fourth quarter came, we had to go out and make a stop. As a defense, we hadn’t been doing it all game.”

How the Eagles Evolve After Winning the Super Bowl - PE.com
After all of the celebrations, the preparation for the 2025 season begin quickly for the Super Bowl LIX Champions. Take an exclusive look inside the Eagles’ 2025 offseason on the latest episode of Unscripted, presented by Lincoln Financial.

Commanders fans are bullish about 2025 win total; expecting Adam Peters to draft more offensive help for Jayden Daniels - Hogs Haven
Nearly 9 out of every 10 respondents took the “over”, which was not the least bit surprising. Not only will Jayden Daniels return for his second NFL season as the reigning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, he will do so as the leader of a beefed-up offense thanks primarily to a pair of offseason trades that added Laremy Tunsil — one of the best left tackles in the NFL — and Deebo Samuel, an explosive offensive weapon who seems custom-made for the Kliff Kingsbury offense that we saw debuted in 2024. Adam Peters has also re-made the defense via free agency this offseason, primarily focusing on the defensive line, seemingly in an effort to bolster the run defense after Washington ranked 30th in the NFL in ‘24, giving up an average of 137.5 rush yards per game. This was probably seen as an even more urgent priority because Washington has to solve the problem of a Saquon Barkley-led Eagles rushing attack in order to win the NFC East division and move beyond the NFC Championship Game. Washington will face a much tougher schedule in 2025, but it will do so with several advantages.

An improved Dak Prescott is an absolute must for the Cowboys this upcoming season - Blogging The Boys
One element that isn’t talked about is the capability of Prescott. Don’t get us wrong, the Cowboys quarterback is the most polarizing player on the roster, and there are non-stop discussions about whether he’s the guy or not. Mostly, in this debate, there’s not a lot of middle ground. You either love him or want him gone. But there is a third category that acknowledges that Prescott is a very good quarterback but also questions his performance at times. We know there are times he can light up the stat sheet and wreak havoc over NFC East teams, but what about other times when the rubber meets the road? Why does he get so frazzled at big moments? Is there something awry with his psyche in those moments?

New York Giants draft: Making the case — Travis Hunter or Shedeur Sanders - Big Blue View
I’m taking Hunter and allowing the Giants to overhaul their cornerback room while assisting the offense with explosive plays, or just have Hunter play wide receiver next to Malik Nabers. I regard Hunter as a true blue-chip talent. Although quarterbacks are rightfully pushed up on draft boards, I don’t believe Sanders is near a blue-chip talent, even though I appreciate aspects of his skill set and think he could have an adequate career. I don’t see a high ceiling with Sanders, and his overall traits are average. His career could exceed adequacy if he reaches his potential playing within the pocket, throwing with anticipation, and distributing passes in rhythm. Still, I prefer the blue-chip possible TOP-5 talent at two positions, so I would go with Hunter.

Shedeur Sanders emerging as top-10 lock in NFL Draft after surprising injury news - SB Nation
Derek Carr missed seven games due to hand and oblique injuries, and his status on the Saints’ roster was already something of a question this offseason given his contract and incoming head coach Kellen Moore. However, Carr and the organization put pen to paper on a new deal that converted the bulk of his salary into a signing bonus, keeping him in New Orleans for 2025. However, now this shoulder injury throws another wrench into the process. Outside of Carr, the Saints have recent draft picks Spencer Rattler and Jake Haener on the roster, as well as Ben DiNucci. But if the rumors had Sanders finding his way to New Orleans in the 2025 NFL Draft before this Carr news, this development seems to solidify the idea that the Colorado QB will be headed to the NFC South in a few weeks.

Ranking 18 wide receivers in the 2025 NFL Draft

Stanford v Notre Dame

And looking at how they might fit with the Philadelphia Eagles.

It’s draft season! I’ve been busy watching many of these prospects, so in the lead-up to the 2025 NFL Draft, I’ll release my Eagles-specific rankings. Before you read ahead, please keep in mind the following!

  1. I have ranked these players based on the Eagles’ needs and scheme fits. Therefore, I may rank player ‘X’ above player ‘Y’ in terms of pure talent and my own personal rankings, but due to the Eagles’ needs and scheme fit, I have player ‘Y’ above player ‘X’.
  2. Please focus more on the tiers rather than the exact numerical order. I use tiers when I have similar grades on players, and there might not be a lot of difference between players if they are in the same tier.
  3. I may mention off-the-field and injury issues in the reports, but I don’t factor that in when ranking these prospects. We don’t have the necessary information.
  4. If I haven’t ranked someone, I haven’t watched them! If you’d like me to watch someone in particular, feel free to comment, and I’ll try to get to them before the draft.

You can check out my podcast feed here to hear more from me. Also, I’ll release an Eagles-specific Draft Guide closer to the NFL Draft on my Patreon, which will include more information on each player.

Previously: Running Back

Wide Receiver

Tier 1

1. Travis Hunter, Colorado, 6-0 3/8 188

Overall: Hunter is an exceptional athlete and natural receiver with rare elite ball skills and legitimate WR1 upside if he commits to playing offense. He’s fluid, reliable at the catch point, and has the burst to create separation and make plays after the catch. However, if he continues splitting time between cornerback and wide receiver, his production will be capped, and concerns around his frame and blocking will need to be addressed. I expect him to be a full-time cornerback who makes some plays as a receiver.

Eagles Thoughts: Only in my Madden career mode... (as if I have time to play Madden anymore).

2. Tetairoa McMillan, Arizona, 6-4 1/8 219

Overall: McMillan is a very good prospect. He’s a smooth outside-the-numbers WR who wins with physicality and length, but lacks the suddenness of the elite freaks. His blocking, route detail, and consistency against press need refinement, but his frame, production, and catch-point dominance make him a high-upside No. 2 receiver with potential to grow into a low-end No. 1 in the NFL.

Eagles Thoughts: I expect McMillan to go a lot earlier than the Eagles' pick at 32.

3. Matthew Golden, Texas, 5-11 191

Overall: Golden is a well-rounded and versatile receiver with inside-outside flexibility, smooth hands, and the speed to stretch the field or punish off coverage. He plays with toughness both as a downfield blocker and at the catch point, showing strong balance through contact and quick transitions into YAC mode. While he tested with elite speed, he doesn’t always play that fast on film, has occasional focus drops, and has dealt with a few minor injuries.

Eagles Thoughts: I love Golden and he would be an unbelievable fit in this offense, but he’s going way before pick 32 after running a 4.29.

Tier 2

4. Luther Burden III, Missouri, 6-0 206

Overall: A tough evaluation due to a highly schemed role in college. Burden is a dynamic playmaker with outstanding contact balance who didn’t get enough chances to show off his talent in college, but there’s a lot of risk. His production dipped after a standout 2023, and questions remain about his route refinement, effort on every snap, and whether he can succeed outside the slot at the next level.

Eagles Thoughts: I wouldn’t be stunned to see him go around pick 32. I’m not sure what the Eagles think of Jahan Dotson, but Burden III would fit the bill if the Eagles want an explosive slot. A receiver at 32 feels a little rich, though! I wouldn’t do it.

5. Emeka Egbuka, Ohio State, 6-0 7/8 202

Overall, Egbuka is a savvy receiver with NFL-ready instincts, excellent hands, and smooth route-running ability, making him a quarterback-friendly target. He wins with pacing, footwork, and the ability to uncover rather than athleticism. He’s a plug-and-play WR2 who lacks vertical juice and should develop into a high-volume receiver.

Eagles Thoughts: I imagine he goes around 32, but I doubt this is the kind of profile the Eagles are after. He profiles as an inside volume receiver, which isn’t what this team needs.

6. Jayden Higgins, Iowa St, 6-4 1/8 214

Overall: Higgins is a big-bodied outside receiver with strong hands, excellent ball tracking, and enough movement skills to threaten vertically. He’s not dynamic or sudden and unlikely to be a game-changer. Higgins has the physical tools you want to see from a starting outside WR.

Eagles Thoughts: A receiver who excels outside the numbers? Sign me up. I think Higgins' potential is sky-high, and this would be a hell of a luxury pick, but I can’t help but picture an Eagles’ offense with AJ Brown and Higgins on the outside and DeVonta Smith in the slot. If the Eagles moved down from 32 and grabbed him in the 2nd, I would be a huge fan. I wouldn’t be stunned if he goes in the 1st though!

7. Elic Ayomanor, Stanford, 6-1 3/4 206

Overall: Ayomanor is a two-year starter with great physical tools and the ability to challenge vertically. His technical refinement remains a work in progress, especially in areas like press coverage but his highlight reel and blocking skills suggest that he has real upside.

Eagles Thoughts: Yes, please. Ayomanor is an awesome blocker who will help the Eagles' explosive run game, and he’s vertically excellent with a big frame. The Eagles have the luxury of taking their time to develop him, and I would love it at the end of the 2nd round.

8. Jaylin Noel, Iowa State, 5-10 194

Overall: Noel is a reliable slot receiver with a compact frame and the kind of polish, quickness, and toughness that coaches will love. He lacks true game-breaking explosiveness but his consistent production give him a solid shot to start as a WR3 and possibly develop into more.

Eagles Thoughts: I really like the player. I just see him mocked early, and I can’t see the Eagles spending an early pick on a receiver who will likely be used similarly to Dotson.

9. Kyle Williams, Washington State, 5-10 1/2 190

Overall: Williams is a dynamic, quick-twitch receiver with legit vertical speed and YAC skills. Though he’s undersized and needs refinement as a route runner and blocker, he has the tools to become a valuable WR2/3 who could significantly outplay his draft position.

Eagles Thoughts: Sign me up. Williams would be a fantastic option if the Eagles want a more explosive option with inside/outside versatility. I wouldn’t hate it at the end of round 2, although I’m probably higher than consensus.

Tier 3

10. Tre Harris, Ole Miss, 6-2 3/8 205

Overall: Harris is a tall, physically impressive wide receiver who has showcased big-play potential. Despite his lack of explosive burst, Harris can still be a threat downfield due to his smooth acceleration, vertical speed, and natural ball skills. However, his injury history, inconsistent technique against press coverage, and occasional struggles with speed and separation prevent him from being a WR1. He has the tools to be a solid NFL contributor as a possession receiver and No. 2 target.

Eagles Thoughts: I’m a little worried about the burst, twitch and acceleration at the LOS. He could provide some depth on the outside for the Eagles and I think his play style will suit Jalen Hurts. I would look his way in the 3rd round if he’s still there.

11. Jalen Royals, Utah St. 6-0 205

Overall: Jalen Royals is a ‘bubble screen and go ball’ type of receiver. He’s not a burner, and the route-running still needs some polish, but he’s got good hands, solid body control, and some real wiggle in the open field.

Eagles Thoughts: The Eagles’ offense could use a receiver with this profile. I think he has a lot of work to do, but he would be worth a shot towards the end of Day 2. It’s a bit of a luxury pick, but that’s OK!

12. Jaylin Lane, Virginia Tech, 5-9 191

Overall: Lane is a twitchy weapon with rare athletic testing and elite movement skills. He may have untapped vertical potential but didn’t get the chance to show it at college. He’ll need to improve his intermediate/vertical game and prove he can handle physicality, but he’s got the chance to play early as a gadget receiver in the slot/returner with room to grow into more.

Eagles Thoughts: This would be a fantastic pick at the end of the 3rd round. The Eagles could scheme up some touches for him in the short game while developing him.

13. Savion Williams, TCU, 6-3 7/8 222

Overall: Williams is a traits-based prospect with huge upside due to his size, length, and flashes of freaky ball skills. But his game remains unrefined, particularly as a route runner and separator. He’s a developmental outside receiver with high-end tools but needs significant polish.

Eagles Thoughts: The Eagles are in a good position to develop someone like Savion Williams. However, with the team being in a Super Bowl window, fans may want a day 2 pick to contribute more immediately. I am interested in his profile and would take him in the 3rd if he was there.

14. Isaiah Bond, Texas, 5-10 5/8 180

Overall: Bond is a field-stretching playmaker with juice and the ability to blow the top off a defense. He’s a constant big-play threat with YAC upside. He fits best as a complementary piece in an offense that can scheme him open and leverage his speed. However, he has some off-the-field concerns, injury issues, and needs to take his blocking more seriously to get on the field.

Eagles Thoughts: I think Bond is a little bit boom/bust. I don’t like the film a great deal, but I think the Eagles should have interest in this profile of WR. I’m probably slightly lower than consensus and I wouldn’t take him in the 2nd.

15. Tory Horton, Colorado St, 6-2 1/2 196

Overall: Horton is a tall, fluid outside receiver who wins with smooth athleticism and body control more than suddenness or elite top-end speed. He’s a reliable target who works the sideline well and shows real hands confidence. If he tightens up the routes and adds a little more play strength, he could carve out a role as a WR3 or WR4.

Eagles Thoughts: If the Eagles want to add a backup receiver to AJ Brown on the outside, Horton makes sense. He might not bring the explosive element that I’d like, but he feels a pretty safe prospect.

16. Jack Bech, TCU, 6-1 1/4 214

Overall: Bech is a reliable possession receiver with excellent hands. He isn’t a burner and likely won’t be much of a YAC threat or a weapon outside the numbers, but he’s tough, dependable, and works well over the middle.

Eagles Thoughts: If the Eagles want to start targeting the middle of the field more, then I think Bech would be a very interesting option. However, there’s an argument his current skillset doesn’t fit too well with that Jalen Hurts’ excels at. I don’t expect them to have that much interest in Bech unless they are very unhappy with Jahan Dotson. I would wait until Day 3 but he will go before then.

Tier 4

17. Tez Johnson, Oregon, 5-9 154

Overall: Johnson is a fluid slot receiver with elite short-area quickness and a sharp competitive edge. He’s a blur when working in space and has unbelievable production in college. However, his size and play strength are serious limiting factors at the next level. He will be need to be a special teams ace who can occassionally play a role as gadget player.

Eagles Thoughts: I’m honestly not sure someone his size can play in the league. I wouldn’t take him until the middle of day 3, when you are looking at special teams value.

18. Xavier Restrepo, Miami (Fla.), 5-9 7/8 209

Overall, Restrepo is one of the most productive receivers in Miami's history. He’s a pure slot guy who wins with timing, effort, and savvy. The 4.80 40 is concerning and he doesn’t flash much juice with or without the ball. Coaches will love his competitiveness.

Eagles Thoughts: Without sounding too harsh, I have no interest in this profile in the Eagles’ offense. I don’t think I could ever draft a 4.8 slot receiver unless he fell to the end of day 3.
