Caldwell should not be fired.

wow really.

Its his job to prepare the players and get the right people there, so yea it is his fault if his team sucks. He shouldn't be fired, but he should be on a short leash since he clearly proved he can't win without Peyton. A good coach can get wins even without their starter.
Exactly.
I'm trying not to sound biased, but look at the 2008 Patriots.
They went the year without Brady, and Belichick still scrapped together 11 wins.

Caldwell had no time to prepare to replace a VERY important piece for the colts. The team revolves around Mannings strengths, which is extremely obvious. The 2008 Patriots ran a different system. The system didn't revolve around Brady.

I'm gonna have to disagree. They definitely revolved around Brady, they just were able to get a good QB in to replace him.

The thing about Caldwell is that he never expected Manning to be out for this long, so he never worried about strengthening the other positions or even getting a mediocre QB as a backup. He relied on Manning way too much.

Matt Cassel isn't a very good QB. Sub-Par at best.

And you can say most coaches would had relied on Manning that much. I'm sure nobody thought he would have a season ending injury.

Sure nobody expected the injury to keep him out this long, but a backup could and should've been found. They have top priority with waivers now so they've had a chance to get a QB. Sure Orton and McNabb aren't the best, but they can't be any worse then what the Colts have.

Last year Rodgers went down with the concussion, Flynn nearly led the Pack to an upset of the Pats in his first pro start. Great teams can win without their star, the Colts have proved they're a good team but not a great team.

I don't think you read my original post.

It explains everything.

It explains everything. Yea I did and I don't buy it. Their have been options out there, not ideal but they would've worked. He had the chance to get somebody, even if he was to be cut later. Did the Packers have time to go get somebody when Rodgers got a concussion last year? No they had young depth ready to step in and step up, something the Colts clearly don't. Rodgers is young and has a lot more years left than Peyton, but yet they had somebody else to play that was young and decent. Maybe the Colts need to finally look at drafting for the future, obviously they thought Peyton was invisible. Any good coach would know he needs a good backup so they aren't in trouble when something happens. Sure nobody expected Peyton to be gone this long, but at the end of the day the bottom line stays the same that the Colts weren't ready. It all comes back to Cadwell, a failed job at coaching and planning here.

lol, I'm pretty sure they're looking forward to drafting luck.
Luck has the potential to be great just by his playing style.

To be honest, I think they're blowing games for that purpose. And as I said before, It's better to be a bad team than to be a mediocre team.

If they are losing on purpose then the whole staff should be fired from the top down, even the office people. I don't buy a team throwing away games. The Colts suck just as their coach does.

Luck is the next Leaf...

Haha yeah thanks for pointing that out. ;D

Losing purposely happens all the time. In basketball, NHL, etc. What makes you think it's any different in football? Why would someone want to be a mediocre team? They're not getting a good draft pick, they're not going to get better.

To win in the rebuilding process, you have to suck.
