  • Frederik Andersen: 4-2-0, 3.11 GAA, .892 save percentage; Brandon Bussi: 3-1-0, 2.25 GAA, .916 saver percentage

Game notes

  • The Bruins are one month down and one game closer to being 500 after TWO WINS to close out October. They’ll look to continue this winning thing as the Carolina Hurricanes are in Boston for an afternoon tilt.
  • The Bruins will do it without Elias Lindholm though as the team announced he’ll be out for at least a few weeks. Marco Sturm gave an update on Lindholm’s lower-body injury yesterday, saying he was getting an MRI. The news follows Lindholm’s collision Jordan Greenway of the Buffalo Sabres during Tuesday’s game.
  • The Bruins also announced the other day that Jordan Harris will be out two months following ankle surgery.
  • Will Morgan Geekie make it a lucky seven game-goal streak? It stands at six right now — and seven goals in that time — in the last six games.
  • David Pastrnak is closing in on 400 career goals. He’s at 398.
  • After yesterday’s practice, Pastrnak talked about Marat Khusnutdinov bumped up to his line. He said his speed helps on the forecheck. “He creates so many turnovers and stays strong on the puck. That creates more offensive zone possession,” Pastrnak said.
  • After last season, it’s weird writing that the Bruins’ power play is 13th in the league at 22.2% and the Carolina Hurricanes are last at a whopping 9.7%. Head-to-head on the PK, the two teams are fairly matched.
  • On the flip side, the Hurricanes have the best goals for average at 3.90 while the Bruins are one of the teams who have given up the most, with a 3.62 goals against average.
  • Grab some leftover candy and we’ll see ya soon!

Preview: Bruins meet Islanders to cap off third back-to-back this month

Just the facts

  • When: Tonight, 7:00 PM
  • Where: TD Garden – Boston, MA
  • How to follow: NESN, 98.5 The Sports Hub
  • Opposing perspective: Lighthouse Hockey

Know your enemy

  • 4-3-1, 9PTS, T-5th in the Metropolitan Division
  • Bo Horvat: 5G-4A-9PTS; Anders Lee: 2G-6A-8PTS; Mathew Barzal: 2G-5A-7PTS; Matthew Schaefer: 2G-5A-7PTS
  • Ilya Sorokin: 2-3-1, 3.70 GAA, .875 save percentage; David Rittich: 2-0-0, 2.01 GAA, .940 save percentage

Game notes

  • The Boston Bruins are back at home after a quick little road trip to welcome the New York Islanders to the TD Garden. It was the Bruins THIRD back-to-back already to start the season. One faired well for the Bruins, the other not so much. This one, well, it’s not off to a great start.
  • It definitely gets harder and harder writing something positive to takeaway from a game that ends in a 7-2 loss. But here we are 1-7-0 in the last eight games. Eight games out of 11 in October.
  • It sounds like a broken record by now, but the B’s defensive zone play is killing them.
  • Morgan Geekie enters tonight’s game on a four-game goal streak. Overall, he’s at has seven goals in 11 games. It took him 12 games last season to net his first goal and 30 games to reach seven goals. But it looks like while the team is going to have its ups and downs, Geekie is picking up pretty much where he left off to end the 2024-25 season — one of the biggest and consistent contributors every night.
  • Jeremy Swayman had two straight starts so unless something crazy happens, Joonas Korpisalo should be getting the nod. Korpisalo is 1-3-0 this season with a 4.03 GAA and .845 save percentage. Islanders announced yesterday that Sorokin would be in net.
  • For the Isles, Alexander Romanov and Max Shabanov will be out for tonight. Romanov is set to miss his fifth game with an upper-body injury while this will be the third game Shabanov is sidelined.
  • Marat Khusnutdinov drew back into the lineup last night. We’ll see if Marco Sturm keeps him on the fourth line or if he subs out again.
  • Last night, the second period set the tone for what happened. The Bruins have had trouble in the middle frame, giving up 11 goals accumulated in their six losses and seven games total. When they’ve won, they’ve given up only one second-period goal in four games.
