Titans HC Brian Callahan offers most glowing review of Cam Ward yet

All signs continue pointing to Cam Ward at No. 1 overall

The Tennessee Titans continue to be thorough ahead of making the No. 1 overall selection in the 2025 NFL Draft. After the team traveled in bunches to watch Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward perform at Pro Day, they’ll do something similar on Friday for Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter (though the group won’t be as large as Ward’s was).

The Titans also hosted a private workout with Ward. They’ll do the same with Sanders and Hunter approximately one week after Colorado’s Pro Day. Though Mike Borgonzi and Brian Callahan continue to play their cards close to their chest, recent comments made by Callahan to Paul Kuharsky about Ward may be the most revealing yet.

“You saw the flashes at Washington State — maybe it’s a talent disparity, I don’t think there is a crazy swing in talent,” Callahan told Kuharsky exclusively at the league ownership meetings. “You saw the flashes. Then, all of a sudden, he gets to Miami and then you saw it consistently. And I think that just comes from playing. I think that’s why these guys that have stayed in school longer, who are playing four and five years, I think it’s helping them because they’re getting chances to get more reps and more opportunities and you see their games sort of smooth out, become more consistent, become more pro ready, is the best way to put it.”

“You see that progression,”
Callahan continued. “You see his decision-making become more consistent, you see the accuracy become more consistent over the course of his career. It’s been really fun. I think I’ve watched almost every snap he’s played, so it’s been cool to see that real progression. Of where he’s at now to where he came from, he’s made a lot of really impressive improvements over his career so far.”

Callahan sure sounds like a head coach who has been thoroughly impressed by Ward throughout the pre-draft process. Callahan knows what great quarterback play looks like after previously coaching Joe Burrow, Peyton Manning, Matthew Stafford, and Derek Carr. Either the Titans are taking Ward, or they’re conducting the most elaborate smokescreen of all time.

Titans claim they remain “open for business” at No. 1 overall

The Titans are doing their due diligence with the No. 1 overall selection in the 2025 NFL Draft

The Tennessee Titans are nearly wrapping up their pre-draft evaluation process. All decisive parties have claimed they are “nearing” a decision with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. That makes sense. They’ve already been as thorough as possible with Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward, having hosted him in Nashville for a pre-draft visit before further assessing him at Miami’s Pro Day and via a private workout days later.

The Titans will also have a contingent present at Colorado’s Pro Day on April 4th, though head coach Brian Callahan and president Chad Brinker will curiously be absent. They will however be present on April 9th, when the Titans plan to work out Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter privately, per Ian Rapoport.

While the final evaluations are being made, Callahan claimed the Titans remain open for business at No. 1 overall while speaking with reporters at this week’s annual league owner meetings.

“You do your due diligence and weigh whatever is being presented,” Callahan said. “If we feel [the trade offer] is beyond the value of what we thought we could get [in a trade], that’s one thing. But then you also have to look at what is a potential franchise quarterback. If you think [the QB] is that good, those guys are priceless. There is no price you can put on those types of players. You have to balance all those things. If there is a price that’s being offered, is that what you want to do? Or is the quarterback worth passing on that price? It’s a QB-driven thing. We’re potentially going to receive some offers, and those are things we have to look at. We’re open to everything. We’ve been consistent in our approach. That hasn’t changed. We’re doing our due diligence to all the options available to us.”

Brian Callahan said the #Titans are in fact open for business. The main task at hand is weighing the prospects at the top pick vs the trade return. Callahan added that a potential QB is priceless. pic.twitter.com/IgqyDXpbZD

— TURRON DAVENPORT (@TDavenport_NFL) March 31, 2025

It sounds like the Titans are going to draft a quarterback unless somebody blows them away by offering three-plus first-round picks. Borgonzi and Callahan have certainly acted like they’re drafting a QB in April, having only pursued veteran backups Brandon Allen and Tim Boyle in free agency.

Titans cancel private workout with Shedeur Sanders

Cam Ward, come on down!

Jim Wyatt reported today that the Tennessee Titans have canceled the private workout they had scheduled with Shedeur Sanders. This really should not come as a surprise with all of the developments we have seen over the last few weeks. Anyone with a pulse is predicting that the Titans will take Cam Ward with the first pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The Titans were represented at Colorado’s Pro Day yesterday, but they did not send nearly the same contingent there as they did to Ward’s Pro Day. Most notably, head coach Brian Callahan was not in Boulder yesterday.

It is unlikely the Titans will come out and declare their intention to take Ward with the first pick before they turn in the card. That is in large part because the NFL doesn’t want it officially out there too far ahead of the production. It is probably also because there is still an outside chance that a team could knock their socks off with an offer to move up. That feels increasingly unlikely with each passing day.

Titans hire Taylor Zarzour as play by play announcer

Tyler Zarzour replaces Mike Keith as the voice of the Titans.

The Tennessee Titans have hired Taylor Zarzour as their “lead broadcaster.” He replaces Mike Keith, who left earlier this offseason to be the voice of the Tennessee Volunteers. Zarzour has a pretty impressive resume in sports broadcasting. He has called college football and baseball games for ESPN since 2015.

According to Jim Wyatt, Zarzour’s duties, in addition to play-by-play on the radio, will include hosting the “Brian Callahan Show” on the radio and “Titans Football with Brian Callahan” on the television side. There was no mention of him hosting the “Official Titans Podcast” in the above-linked article. It is possible that those duties will shift to Amie Wells, who has been doing the show with Mike Keith since its inception.

It will take some time to get used to hearing someone other than Mike Keith calling Titans games on the radio, but Zarzour seems to be a really solid hire.

Titans Reacts Survey: How many games will the team win in 2025?

Tennessee Titans Introduce Mike Borgonzi as New General Manager

What do you think of FanDuel’s number?

FanDuel has released its win totals for the 2025 season. They have the Titans at 5.5. I would say that is a fair number. The optimistic fan in me wants to bet the house on the over, but I’m not going to touch that number because there are just too many unknowns heading into the season.

The assumption, of course, at this point is that Cam Ward will be the starting quarterback on day one. That should bring some optimism, but I’m taking the wait and see approach on everything this year. I have gotten my heart broken by guys like Vince Young, Jake Locker, and Marcus Mariota in the past.

Here’s your chance to weigh in. Will the Titans go over or under 5.5 wins in 2025?

Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NFL. Throughout the year, we ask questions of the most plugged-in Tennessee Titans fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.

Mel Kiper two-round 2025 NFL mock draft

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: SEP 27 Virginia Tech at Miami

The suspense for what the Titans will do in round one is gone. What will they do in round 2?

The Tennessee Titans are taking Cam Ward with the first pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. While they have not come out and said that yet, all of the signs from free agency to now make it clear that is what they are going to do. Now, the only question about the first two days of the draft for the Titans is what they will do at the top of the second round.

Mel Kiper put out a new two-round 2025 NFL mock draft this morning. Of course, he has the Titans taking Ward with the first pick. At pick 35, he has the Titans taking Oluwafemi Oladejo, OLB, UCLA. There is no question that after the Titans pick Ward, their biggest need is at EDGE. Oladejo would be a step in the right direction there.

My guess is the Titans will be shopping pick 35 from the moment round one ends on Thursday night. They have made no secret of the fact that they want to add picks in the next couple of drafts. Since they won’t be doing that by trading #1 overall, they will look to do it with pick 35. Hopefully, they can move down a few spots and pick up a third-round pick, which they don’t have right now because of the L’Jarius Sneed trade last offseason.

Here are Kiper’s comments on Ward:

Speaking about the No. 1 pick at league meetings two weeks ago, Titans coach Brian Callahan said, “We’re open to everything at this point.” Tennessee certainly has options, especially if another team calls GM Mike Borgonzi with a massive trade offer. But the Titans don’t have a franchise quarterback, and they have a chance to get one in Ward. To win in the NFL, you have to take those opportunities when they present themselves.

I was a fan of Will Levis during the ahead of the 2023 draft. But he has made too many mistakes with the football over the past two seasons (16 INTs and 17 fumbles) to prove he’s the guy. It’s time to upgrade, and Ward would bring a big arm, an ability to create outside of structure and good accuracy to Nashville.

And his comments on Oladejo:

Here’s the Titans’ Harold Landry III replacement. Tennessee was tied for 29th in sacks last season (32) and then cut its top sack getter in Landry (nine). Oladejo had only 4.5 sacks last season, but he had 29 pressures, and his tape shows burst and potential.

Could the Titans draft a safety earlier than we realize?

2025 CFP National Championship Presented by AT&T- Ohio State v Notre Dame

The Tennessee Titans are showing interest in a safety prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft

The Tennessee Titans have plenty of holes to fill in the 2025 NFL Draft. The expectation is they’re going to select Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward at No. 1 overall. After that, general manager Mike Borgonzi has massive holes to fill at wide receiver and EDGE.

Secondary needs include a long-term starter at right guard, defensive line depth, and off-ball linebacker. An underrated need may also be present at safety.

Amani Hooker is currently slated to enter a contract year. Borgonzi signed veteran safety Xavier Woods to a two-year contract in free agency. Woods is an aging, league-average player who is a short-term solution at the position.

The Titans are now showing interest in one of the best safety prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft. They are hosting Notre Dame safety Xavier Watts on a pre-draft visit, according to Ian Rapoport.

The #Titans, who have the No. 1 and No. 35 overall picks, are hosting #OSU OL Donovan Jackson and Notre Dame safety Xavier Watts on Top 30 visits today.

— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) April 7, 2025

Watts was dynamic for a Fighting Irish program that qualified for the National Championship Game in 2024. The Omaha, Nebraska native is an elite ballhawk, having recorded six interceptions this past season. It was an appropriate follow-up to Watts’ 2023 seven-interception campaign. With 13 combined picks in 2023-24, Kevin Byard was the last safety the Titans drafted with that much ball production in college.

Watts’ tape highlights an intelligent and mature safety prospect. Fighting Irish head coach Marcus Freeman moved him all over his defensive alignments, but Watts was at his most productive when allowed to use his instincts in zone coverage. He and Hooker would pair with interchangeable skill sets, both capable of playing deep or closer to the line of scrimmage.

Watts is the No. 50 overall prospect on the consensus big board. The Titans own the third selection in the second round (No. 35) and aren’t scheduled to pick again until the fourth round. Borgonzi could potentially target Watts at 35, which would shock the fanbase, or he could acquire another Day Two selection via a trade-back, allowing him extra capital to justify drafting a safety early.

“He reminds me of Mahomes” Louis Riddick on Cam Ward

Duke v Miami

I think the Titans would be OK with that outcome

Louis Riddick is a big fan of Cam Ward. Yesterday, on NFL Live on ESPN, Riddick said that Ward reminded him of Patrick Mahomes:

"He reminds me of Mahomes." @LRiddickESPN believes Cam Ward's play style compares to Patrick Mahomes. pic.twitter.com/qD7Yy0mINi

— NFL on ESPN (@ESPNNFL) April 9, 2025

That would be a pretty good outcome for the Tennessee Titans, I’d say. Of course, the most likely scenario is that Ward is not anywhere close to as good as Mahomes, because how many people on the planet are? But, it makes sense to take a shot on a guy that does have being a star in his range of outcomes.

At the start of this process, I was firmly entrenched in the “trade down” camp, but now it does really feel like the smart thing to do is to take Ward. The franchise believes in Bill Callahan’s ability to develop a quarterback. That’s one of the main reasons he was hired. It didn’t work out with Will Levis. We will find out in the coming years how much of that was on Levis and how much of that was on Callahan.

Titans 7-Round 2025 NFL mock draft: Cam Ward and friends

A brand-new Tennessee Titans seven-round 2025 NFL mock draft

The 2025 NFL Draft is approximately two weeks away! The Tennessee Titans are expected to select Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward with the No. 1 overall selection. That plan became even more evident after the team canceled its scheduled private workout with Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders.

General manager Mike Borgonzi will then shift attention to filling holes at wide receiver and EDGE. With the 2025 NFL Draft looming, we’ve completed another fresh predictive seven-round mock.

Round 1 (No. 1 overall): Cam Ward, QB, Miami

Ward will immediately add a playmaking element to the Titans’ offense that was sorely lacking last season. His ability to be an off-script magician should add a layer of excitement to Brian Callahan’s offense. Ward has seriously impressed the Titans throughout the pre-draft process.

Round 2 (No. 35 overall): James Pearce Jr., EDGE, Tennessee

James Pearce Jr. has character concerns, which could see him slide out of the first round. Would the Titans roll the dice on his elite pass-rushing potential at No. 35? Pearce Jr. played college football locally for the Tennessee Volunteers, adding another layer of intrigue here. Alternatively, the Titans could look to trade down five-10 spots to recoup the third-round pick they currently lack.

Round 4 (No. 103 overall): Kyle Williams, WR, Washington State

If the Titans trade back from No. 35, I think they’ll target Washington State receiver Kyle Williams in the 60s or 70s. Either way, I expect the Titans to come away with Williams, who played with Ward at Washington State in 2023, and for offensive coordinator Nick Holz at UNLV in 2022.

Round 4 (No. 120 overall): Caleb Rogers, IOL, Texas Tech

The Titans need to target a mid-round guard capable of succeeding Kevin Zeitler in 2026. Texas Tech’s Caleb Rogers possesses five-position versatility. He’s previously played tackle, but most NFL scouts agree he’s a future starter at guard. Rogers was impressive at this year’s Senior Bowl.

Round 5 (No. 141 overall): Dont’e Thornton Jr., WR, Tennessee

The Titans are hosting Tennessee Volunteers wide receiver Dont’e Thornton Jr. on a pre-draft visit. Thornton Jr. ran a blazing-fast 4.30 at the NFL Combine. He’s technically raw, but size (6-5, 205) speed is present in bunches.

Round 5 (No. 167 overall): Caleb Ransaw, S, Tulane

Safety is a long-term need opposite Amani Hooker. Borgonzi signed veteran Xavier Woods in free agency, but he is a short-term solution. Tulane’s Caleb Ransaw is a physical defender who especially thrives when aligned near the line of scrimmage.

Round 6 (No. 178 overall): Jah Joyner, EDGE, Minnesota

Doubling down at EDGE is a necessity. Jah Joyner is a twitched-up edge rusher with room to expand his arsenal. Joyner recorded 12 sacks over his two previous seasons at Minnesota.

Round 6 (No. 188 overall): Isaiah Neyor, WR, Nebraska

It’s not outside the realm of possibility that the Titans draft two-to-three wide receivers. The Green Bay Packers nailed that concept recently and Titans president Chad Brinker was a part of that process. The Titans have shown some interest in Isaiah Neyor throughout the pre-draft process. Neyor is a big-bodied playmaker who averaged 13.4 yards per catch at Nebraska this past season.

Titans fans confident in the over this season

2025 NFL Scouting Combine

You love to see it!

FanDuel put out their over/unders for NFL teams this past week. They had the Tennessee Titans at 5.5. That does feel low to me, but as I have said, I refuse to get excited about this team until I see results on the field. I have had my heart broken too many times in the past.

I posed the question to you, will the Titans win over or under 5.5 games this season? 60% of you chose the over.

I like the confidence!

If the under hits, there is a good chance the Titans will be looking for a new head coach next season. Brian Callahan will get some rope working with a rookie quarterback in Cam Ward. The only way they don’t win at least six games is if Ward doesn’t get better as the season goes along.

We are now less than a week and a half from the 2025 NFL Draft!

Does Titans latest pre-draft visit say anything about Jeffery Simmons?

Houston Texans v Tennessee Titans

Why do the Tennessee Titans keep hosting defensive tackles on pre-draft visits?

The Tennessee Titans do not have a good roster heading into the 2025 NFL Draft. That’s the reality as new general manager Mike Borgonzi and president Chad Brinker begin rebuilding the team. The rehaul is going to start by drafting Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward at No. 1 overall.

Defensive tackle is one of few positions on the roster that is littered with depth. Jeffery Simmons is arguably the team’s best player. Sophomore second-round pick T’Vondre Sweat was impressive as a rookie and should take another developmental step forward. Borgonzi also re-signed Sebastian Joseph-Day earlier this offseason. Keondre Coburn and Dre’Mont Jones are also capable of providing Dennard Wilson with quality snaps inside.

Despite that, the Titans keep hosting interior defensive line prospects on pre-draft visits. We knew that Tennessee Volunteers defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott was among their “top 30” in-person visits. So was South Carolina’s TJ Sanders, and Florida’s Cam Jackson. The latest report has Toledo defensive tackle Darius Alexander making a stop in Nashville, a source confirmed.

The Titans hosted @ToledoFB DT Darius Alexander on a pre-draft 30 visit, per sources.

Alexander is viewed as a Top 64 talent by many evaluators in the league.

Alexander pairs strength with first-step explosiveness as a pass rusher and run stopper.

Really good player. pic.twitter.com/ExF7KIQcj8

— Justin M (@JustinM_NFL) April 13, 2025

It would be unnatural for the Titans to completely ignore defensive tackle prospects during the 2025 NFL Draft. But visits with Norman-Lott, Sanders, and Alexander are particularly intriguing. As pointed out by A to Z’s Easton Freeze, Alexander, Sanders, and Norman-Lott range from No. 48 to 83 on the consensus big board. There’s a decent chance all three prospects are Day Two picks.

The Titans are currently without a third-round selection. There are several more pressing needs across the roster, particularly at EDGE and wide receiver. Even safety and off-ball linebacker have larger holes than defensive tackle.

All this unexpected interest in top-100 defensive tackle prospects has rumors swarming Jeffery Simmons’ name. Perhaps they are unfounded. Simmons signed a four-year extension worth $94 million in 2023. He didn’t necessarily meet the contract’s expectations in 2024. It was previous GM Ran Carthon who authorized that deal (surely with a sign-off from Amy Adams Strunk). He’s the eighth-highest paid interior defensive lineman in the league on an annual basis.

The Titans have vehemently declined any interest in trading Simmons publicly. But Borgonzi and Brinker essentially inherited the Simmons contract. They continue sniffing around defensive tackle prospects as if they have a massive hole at the position. They don’t, but they would if they traded their best player.

There’s probably nothing here, but it’s worth monitoring any hints regarding Simmons’ current relationship with the Titans that may emerge on draft weekend.

Mel Kiper Field Yates 2025 NFL mock draft

Texas Tech Red Raiders v Iowa State Cyclones

Photo by Luke Lu/Diamond Images via Getty Images

The only intrigue for the Titans at this point is the second round pick.

Mel Kiper and Field Yates put out a dueling two-round 2025 NFL mock draft over at ESPN this morning. Yates made both of the picks for the Tennessee Titans. Of course, we know that the first pick he made for the Titans was Cam Ward, QB, Miami. The only question about that pick now is whether or not anyone from the Titans will confirm what they are doing before they are on the clock a week from Thursday.

There is some intrigue with the second round pick at this point. The two biggest needs the Titans have left after they take Ward are EDGE and wide receiver. Yates made an interesting call here. He took Jayden Higgins, WR, Iowa State. The surprise there is that he did it with Luther Burden III still on the board. Burden has been one of the big fallers throughout this draft process. It seems that some of that is because of a drop in production last year and some of it is because of some off-the-field issues. He’d be a great value at 35.

Here is what Yates had to say about Ward:

The Titans’ offseason actions — including adding to the offensive line — indicate how they are approaching this pick. They still need a QB1 of the future, with Will Levis atop the depth chart. Ward is my top-ranked signal-caller in the class, and he’d be a great fit in Tennessee. Ward has a dynamic skill set, displays a rocket arm and is the class’s most innovative passer when under duress.

And his comments on Higgins:

The Titans got Cam Ward. Now they must provide him with some legit playmakers beyond Calvin Ridley. Higgins could bring size, speed and versatility outside.

How do you feel about Higgins vs. Burden?

Should the Titans draft a WR or EDGE at No. 35 overall?

Goodyear Cotton Bowl - Missouri v Ohio State

What should the Tennessee Titans do at No. 35 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft?

The Tennessee Titans are going to select Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward with the No. 1 overall selection in the 2025 NFL Draft. That’s the overwhelming expectation. From there, general manager Mike Borgonzi will shift attention to the other needs throughout the roster.

The Titans own the 35th selection, their only scheduled pick on Day Two. It’s a premium selection and represents the Titans’ best opportunity to address any non-QB need on the roster. The two positions the Titans are expected to target at 35 are EDGE and wide receiver.

There’s an argument to be made for either position. When the Titans draft Ward, surrounding him with an ideal supporting cast at receiver becomes important. Head coach Brian Callahan currently has Calvin Ridley as the lone proven asset at the position. The Titans were bad at wide receiver last season and they got worse this offseason by essentially swapping Nick Westbrook-Ikhine for Van Jefferson. As currently constructed, the Titans are currently overly reliant on getting contributions from Treylon Burks, Bryce Oliver, and/or Jha’Quan Jackson.

The EDGE position is arguably in even worse shape. The defense recorded the third-fewest sacks in the league last season and that was a direct reflection of the lack of high-end talent at the premier pass-rushing position. Borgonzi created an additional need at EDGE by releasing 2024 sack leader Harold Landry from his contract.

If the regular season started tomorrow, Arden Key and free-agent addition Dre’Mont Jones would start at EDGE. Jones is on a one-year deal and is more of a versatile inside-outside player than full-time defensive end. Key is also entering a contract year and is better suited as a rotational defender. There’s essentially no depth behind them either, with veteran journeyman Lorenzo Carter and sophomore seventh-round pick Jaylen Harrell as the third and fourth players on the depth chart.

The Titans unfortunately need two contributors apiece at wide receiver and EDGE. They’re incredibly unlikely to draft four instant contributors at those two positions, so prioritizing which one to target at No. 35 overall is a massive decision beyond drafting a quarterback No. 1 overall.

Luther Burden, Tennessee Vols WR, another DT among Titans’ latest pre-draft visits

Tennessee v Ohio State - Playoff First Round

Photo by Robin Alam/ISI Photos/Getty Images

The Tennessee Titans are almost complete with their pre-draft “top 30” visits ahead of next Thursday’s 2025 NFL Draft. On Tuesday, they welcomed a trio of intriguing prospects. That list includes Missouri wide receiver Luther Burden III, Tennessee Volunteers wide receiver Dont’e Thornton Jr., and Texas defensive tackle Vernon Broughton, according to Paul Kuharsky.

Expected #Titans visits Tuesday:

WRs Luther Burden and Dont'e Thornton
DT Vernon Broughton

— Paul Kuharsky (@PaulKuharskyNFL) April 14, 2025

Burden is easily the most intriguing prospect on this list. The Tigers standout has been a divisive player throughout the pre-draft process due to alleged character concerns. From a pure talent perspective, Burden is a top-32 prospect in the draft. But off-field questions could potentially keep him available when the Titans make their second-round selection at No. 35 overall.

After taking Cam Ward at No. 1, the Titans may feel tempted to pair him with a dynamic wide receiver in the second round. A receiver like Burden or an EDGE defender are the two overwhelming favorite positions to be the target of Mike Borgonzi’s second choice.

The Titans should get an answer on Burden’s off-field character at the conclusion of his in-person visit.

Volunteers wideout Thornton Jr. is another intriguing visit. He possesses an outstanding size and speed profile. The 6-foot-5, 205 pound vertical threat ran a 4.30-second 40-yard dash, the second-fastest time of any participating receiver at the NFL Combine.

Thornton Jr. is unfortunately raw from a technical aspect though. He recorded just 26 receptions for Tennessee this past season and that was a career-high mark for him. The former Oregon transfer averaged an explosive 25.4 yards per catch though, converting those 26 catches into 661 yards and six touchdowns. If (and when) the Titans double down at receiver on Day Three, they may view Thornton Jr.’s dynamic skill-set as worth the gamble.

Broughton is yet another defensive tackle the Titans brought in for a pre-draft visit. The Titans are doing a peculiar amount of homework at interior defensive lineman considering they have Jeffery Simmons, T’Vondre Sweat, and Sebastian Joseph-Day on the roster. Broughton is an underrated prospect who recorded 39 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and four sacks for the Longhorns this past college football campaign. On tape, he pairs size with strength and athleticism.

Should the Titans trade Treylon Burks during the 2025 NFL Draft?

Indianapolis Colts v Tennessee Titans

Could the Titans trade Treylon Burks doing the 2025 NFL Draft?

ESPN’s Adam Schefter released an NFL Draft notes and intel piece ahead of Thursday’s festivities. Quarterback Will Levis wasn’t the only Tennessee Titans player mentioned as a potential trade candidate in that article. Fourth-year wideout Treylon Burks is also named as someone who may be potentially on the move.

NFL draft intel: Everything we’re hearing ahead of Round 1 of Thursday night’s draft.https://t.co/7X6U85FDa4

— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) April 21, 2025

Burks has been a massive bust since the Titans acquired him essentially in exchange for AJ Brown. That was obviously a catastrophic mistake. It’s also worth noting Burks was drafted by Jon Robinson, two general manager’s ago. The Titans’ new regime is well removed from that organizational mistake, and has no loyalty to the former Arkansas standout.

Nor did second-year head coach Brian Callahan show any faith in Burks last season. In a collaborative effort with Ran Carthon, the Titans signed Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd in free agency. Burks would eventually suffer a season-ending knee injury during a midseason practice. He produced just four receptions for 34 yards. The Titans should have been playing Nick Westbrook-Ikhine ahead of him the entire time.

The Titans will decline Burks’ fifth-year option. That means the upcoming 2025 campaign will be a contract year. The Titans could choose to trade Burks to a WR-needy team willing to gamble on his potential as a low-risk, high-reward move.

The Titans are also entering the 2025 NFL Draft with massive holes at wide receiver. GM Mike Borgonzi is going to draft a wideout early. Calvin Ridley is the only proven asset at the position. The team signed Van Jefferson in free agency, but he’s a low level rotational pass catcher. In theory, Burks could contend for snaps with Bryce Oliver, Jefferson, and Jha’Quan Jackson.

The Titans must draft at least one wide receiver capable of contributing right away. Ideally, that wideout would immediately outperform Burks for snaps. Tennessee needs to select multiple receivers in this draft. Perhaps the Titans are willing to give up on Burks altogether. Nobody would blame them for trading the first-round bust.

Adam Schefter has a bit of a news dump this morning heading up to the 2025 NFL Draft. In the linked article, he listed Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis at the top of the list of players on a rookie contract that could soon become expendable. He does not elaborate on it any further.

This could simply be a case of Schefter connecting the dots with the Titans set to draft Cam Ward on Thursday night. There could be nothing more to it than that.

However, Schefter could have some insight that there have been conversations between the Titans' front office and others around the league about Levis. Tennessee is not in a situation where they have to trade Levis. Having two young quarterbacks on a rookie contract is never a bad thing, but if the Titans can get something of value for Levis, they might want to go ahead and do it.

Of course, the problem is that Levis’s value has never been lower. They would get a late day three pick for him at this point. It might be better to hang on to him into the preseason to see if a team sustains an injury at the quarterback position.

Titans confirm they will be picking at number one in the 2025 NFL Draft

Miami v Florida

In case it wasn’t already obvious.

The Tennessee Titans held their pre-draft press conference today with President of Football Operations Chad Brinker, General Manager Mike Borgonzi, and Head Coach Brian Callahan. In a surprise to no one, Borgonzi confirmed that the Titans will be picking at number one in the 2025 NFL Draft. He followed up with, “You will have to tune in to see who we pick.” He also said that they are no longer even taking calls on the first pick.

It was really funny to listen to the dog and pony show of not revealing who they are going to pick. All of the questions were about Cam Ward. They would answer questions about him specifically, but would not confirm that he will be the pick.

There really wasn’t anything newsworthy that came from the presser. Borgonzi was asked about needs outside of the obvious ones like quarterback, wide receiver, and EDGE. He declined to answer that question as to not tip his hand to the rest of the league.

As everyone knows, the real intrigue for the Titans comes at the top of the second round. The buzz lately has been that there could be some interesting receivers available when the Titans are on the clock Friday night. How much will they value adding more picks over a player that is available? As Borgonzi said, we will have to tune in on Friday night to find out.

It’s almost here!

Titans Reacts Survey: What position should Tennessee address in second round?

Tennessee Titans Introduce Mike Borgonzi as New General Manager

Where should the Titans go in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft?

We all know the Titans are taking Cam Ward with the first pick of the 2025 NFL Draft. The intrigue now comes with what they will do with their second round pick. My guess is that they would love to trade the pick to add an extra day two pick (They don’t currently have a third round pick due to the L’Jarius Sneed trade).

If they don’t trade down, they need to draft either an EDGE rusher or a wide receiver. The thing is, they desperately need both of those positions. This week’s reacts survey asks the question, which position should the Titans address with their second round pick?

Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NFL. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Tennessee Titans fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.

Todd McShay 2025 NFL mock draft

Washington State v Washington

Just thought it would be fun to use a Washington State picture!

Todd McShay has ventured out on his own after years at ESPN. Most of his stuff has been behind a paywall, but he put his fourth 2025 NFL mock draft out for everyone to see. He, of course, has the Tennessee Titans taking Cam Ward, QB, Miami with the first overall pick. It hasn’t been as much fun for us to look at mock drafts this year with everyone knowing that Ward is going to be the pick.

With that being said, there are a few other things of interest in his mock. He has the New York Giants trading with the Detroit Lions to get back into the first round to take Jaxson Dart, QB, Ole Miss, with the 28th pick. Dart is the second quarterback he has coming off the board. McShay did add a bonus pick with Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado, falling all the way to pick 33 by the Cleveland Browns.

We haven’t talked much about what the other teams in the AFC South will be doing in the draft. McShay has the Jacksonville Jaguars taking Ashton Jeanty, RB, Boise State, with the 5th pick. I’d love for the Jags to take a running back in the top 5.

He has the Indianapolis Colts taking Tyler Warren, TE, Penn State, with the 14th pick. I’d be worried about that if they had a quarterback. They don’t.

The first pick I don’t like in the division is the Houston Texans taking Matthew Golden, WR, Texas, with the 25th pick. I don’t love CJ Stroud getting another weapon.

Here are McShay’s comments on Ward to the Titans:

Brian Callahan has spent his entire career building for the opportunity to select his choice of quarterback as a head coach. He spent time early in his NFL coaching career as an offensive assistant in Denver with Peyton Manning. He made his way up the ranks, working with Matthew Stafford and Derek Carr before being elevated to Cincinnati’s offensive coordinator and helping take Joe Burrow and the Bengals to the Super Bowl. He’ll hope to experience similar success with Cam Ward.

Final Titans 7-round 2025 NFL mock draft

Our final 2025 Tennessee Titans NFL mock draft!

The 2025 NFL Draft has finally arrived! The Tennessee Titans will kick off the festivities by drafting quarterback Cam Ward at No. 1 overall. That is the overwhelming expectation. Mike Borgonzi will then shift attention to holes at wide receiver, EDGE, and other sore spots on the roster.

With the 2025 NFL Draft mere hours away, we’ve completed our final seven-round Titans mock draft using The Draft Network’s Mock Draft Machine.

Round 1 (No. 1): Cam Ward, QB, Miami

It’s a foregone conclusion the Titans are taking Ward at No. 1 overall. From the NFL Combine to the Pro Day and private workout, Ward aced everything Tennessee threw his way. He’ll be the first-ever No. 1 overall quarterback in franchise history.

Round 2 (No. 35): Kyle Williams, WR, Washington State

The Titans may trade down from No. 35 overall. That’s difficult to predict, but we imagine they end up taking Kyle Williams at some point (not at No. 35). Williams played alongside Ward at Washington State, making him an ideal fit.

Round 4 (No. 103): Tate Ratledge, IOL, Georgia

Georgia guard Tate Ratledge had a Top 30 visit with the Titans. Kevin Zeitler is a one-year solution at right guard. Ratledge would give the Titans a future solution at a position before it becomes a need next offseason.

Round 4 (No. 120): Quincy, Riley, CB, Louisville

Quincy Riley has been routinely connected to the Titans throughout the pre-draft process. Dennard Wilson needs depth at cornerback. L’Jarius Sneed’s ongoing alleged off-field situation adds another layer at cornerback.

Round 5 (No. 141): Antwaun Powell-Ryland, EDGE, Virginia Tech

EDGE is a massive need. Antwaun Powell-Ryland is undersized, but he recorded 16 sacks this past season. Powell-Ryland plays with a red-hot motor. The Titans have to choose between addressing wide receiver, EDGE, or trading down at No. 35.

Round 5 (No. 167): Jordan James, RB, Oregon

Jordan James made an in-person visit to Nashville. The Titans have been sniffing around the historical running back class. James, a three-year contributor at Oregon, rushed for a career-high 1,267 yards and 15 touchdowns this past season.

Round 6 (No. 178): Cam Jackson, DT, Florida

Five of Tennessee’s top-30 visits occurred with defensive tackles. One of them was with Florida’s Cam Jackson. Jackson possesses nose tackle size, but his first-step quickness is that of a much smaller player.

Round 6 (No. 188): Jamaal Pritchett, WR, South Alabama

The Titans met Jamaal Pritchett at the Senior Bowl. They later hosted Zoom meetings and a pre-draft visit with the South Alabama standout. Pritchett would immediately become the starting return man on special teams.
