Mason Rudolph signs a 2-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers

Another veteran QB off the market.

Mike Garafolo is reporting that Mason Rudolph is returning to the Pittsburgh Steelers on a 2-year deal that will pay the veteran quarterback up to $8 million. Garafolo mentions that Rudolph had an offer from the Tennessee Titans as well but chose to head back to Pittsburgh. I’m good with that. Rudolph played OK at times last year but was pretty underwhelming overall.

The interesting question here is whether this keeps either Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson from going to the Steelers. The rumor is that they have made an offer to Rodgers that he is mulling over on a beach somewhere. If he decides to go somewhere else or to retire, Pittsburgh could then turn to Wilson.

For the Titans, these quarterbacks keep flying off the board. Jameis Winston is still out there. I’d love for them to bring him in because then at least the games would be fun to watch. Winston is going to throw a touchdown to one team or the other.

Titans sign Brandon Allen to a one-year deal

There’s the veteran quarterback?

The Tennessee Titans have signed quarterback Brandon Allen to a one-year deal according to Mike Garafalo:

The #Titans have agreed to terms with QB Brandon Allen on a one-year deal, source says.

Allen, the #49ers’ backup to Brock Purdy last year, reunites with Brian Callahan, his OC when both were with the #Bengals, on a deal done by @KyleStrongin of @RangeSportsRMP. pic.twitter.com/9n1v6pLozF

— Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo) March 13, 2025

As the tweet mentions, Allen and Titans head coach Brian Callahan were together with the Cincinnati Bengals. It’s hard to imagine this was the “competition for Will Levis” that Callahan talked about at the end of last season but maybe it is. I don’t see them signing another veteran quarterback with Allen in the fold.

Does this point to them sticking at the number one pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and drafting Cam Ward? It seems increasingly more likely after the moves they have made as free agency opens. It is also hard to imagine a scenario where Callahan is OK heading into the season with his options being Levis and Allen. While this new regime has preached patience, I’m not sure Callahan has the same rope that Chad Brinker and Mike Borgonzi do.

Allen has thrown for 1,810 yards with 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions in his five seasons where has seen regular season action. He was a sixth-round pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars back in 2016.

Resetting the Titans needs after the first wave of NFL free agency

Tennessee Titans Introduce Mike Borgonzi as New General Manager

Have the Titans settled on Cam Ward?

The Tennessee Titans came into free agency with needs at pretty much every position on their roster. They told us when Mike Borgonzi was hired that they were going to be a “draft and develop” organization. That meant they weren’t going to go on a spending frenzy in free agency like they did before the 2024 season. They have stuck to that plan. Their signings, with the exception of Dan Moore, have been on a very short-term basis giving them upgrades at positions for 2025 without jeopardizing the salary cap down the road.

Upgrading the offensive line

The number one thing the Titans absolutely had to do in free agency was upgrade the offensive line. They have done that. There has been a lot of talk about the Dan Moore signing, but it was something the Titans really needed to do. Moore took a step forward in 2024 and will only get better with Bill Callahan coaching him up. There is no doubt their tackle situation is better now than it was when the season ended.

They also signed Kevin Zeitler to a one-year deal. He will be the starting right guard and is a huge upgrade over Dillon Radunz. A starting line that goes Moore, Peter Skoronski, Lloyd Cushenberry, Zeitler, JC Latham from left to right should be really solid. They also added Blake Hance as a swing guy on the interior.

They will still need to add an offensive lineman or two in the draft, but the signings they have made allow them to wait until day three to do that.

Upgrading the defense

One of the needs that wasn’t talked about very much heading into free agency was safety. Amani Hooker is a really good player, but they needed to upgrade behind him. They did that when they signed Xavier Woods. He wasn’t the best safety on the market but is an upgrade and he doesn’t miss games:

Over the last 7 seasons, Xavier Woods has started every game he has played. His snap percentage for those 7 seasons:

— Field Yates (@FieldYates) March 11, 2025

Then, in a bit of a surprise move, they signed defensive end Dre’Mont Jones from the Seattle Seahawks. He is a guy that gives them versatility on the defensive line because he can play on the line and rush off the edge.

They also added Cody Barton at inside linebacker and traded Kenneth Murray to the Dallas Cowboys. Barton isn’t great in coverage but is solid against the run.

But what about quarterback?

Yep, that is the question we are all still asking. They signed Brandon Allen to a one-year deal. That gives them a quarterback competition in camp of Allen and Will Levis. Yikes! It really does feel like all signs are pointing to them drafting Cam Ward as the first pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. I have been a big proponent of the trade down because they need more picks, but if they are sold that Ward is a franchise quarterback, they should absolutely just pick him and build around him.

What are the Titans' biggest remaining needs?

Quarterback has to be at the top of the list followed by EDGE and wide receiver. They did add Van Jefferson a one-year deal, but Jefferson as your #2 is a recipe for disaster, especially if you have a rookie quarterback. The problem is their aren’t any impact receivers left in free agency, and this draft is not as deep at receiver as the last few have been.

If they do trade down - especially if it is with the New York Giants - you would assume they would draft Abdul Carter to help with the need at EDGE. They would still need to add some guys to the position later in the draft.

If they don’t trade down at 1.1, they will pretty much have to draft an EDGE guy at the top of the second round.

Titans sign Dre’Mont Jones to a 1-year deal

The Titans are going to have a really good defensive line!

Last night it was reported that the Tennessee Titans have agreed to a 1-year $10 million deal with former Seattle Seahawks defensive lineman Dre’Mont Jones. This one came a little out of nowhere for me, but I like it. Jones will give them some versatility on the defensive line, as Denico Autry did when he was here. He’s more of a defensive end than an EDGE guy, but he can play both.

The Titans plan is clearly to build thing upfront first on the offensive and defensive line. They have done a good job with that in this free agency period. Now, we just need to know what they are going to do at the quarterback position. The veteran quarterback market is getting pretty thin.

Jones was a third-round pick by the Denver Broncos back in 2019. In his six seasons in the league, he has 30.5 sacks including four last season.

I like this breakdown of Jones:

Trusted #Seahawks source @hawkblogger on what the #Titans got in Dre'Mont Jones:

"Solid player. Can play inside/out, but best inside. Miscast in Seattle. Signed a deal that implied huge production. That's not who he is. He's a 45-55 pressure interior guy, very valuable."

Titans sign former Pro Bowl guard Kevin Zeitler

Green Bay Packers v Detroit Lions

There’s your starting right guard

The Tennessee Titans now have a serviceable offensive line with the addition of former Pro Bowler Kevin Zeitler. Adam Schefter is reporting the Titans have signed him to a 1-year $9 million deal. Zeitler, who just turned 35 this month, was with the Detroit Lions in 2024. He has also played for the Cincinnati Bengals, New York Giants, Cleveland Browns, and Baltimore Ravens in his 13-year NFL career.

Coming into free agency, we knew the Titans absolutely had to fix the offensive line. They have done a solid job of that with this signing and the signing of Dan Moore, Jr. There has been some squabbling about Moore’s deal, but they had to go out and get the best offensive tackle in free agency. They did that. Moore took a step forward in 2024 and will get better under Bill Callahan’s coaching.

Now, the biggest questions the Titans have is who is going to play quarterback, who is that quarterback going to throw to, and who is going to rush the passer on the other side of the ball. They can take care of some of that in the 2025 NFL Draft, but they still have some work to do in free agency.

Titans release Chidobe Awuzie

Jacksonville Jaguars v Tennessee Titans

This was not a move I anticipated

The Tennessee Titans have released cornerback Chidobe Awuzie. This was not a move I saw coming. They signed him to a three-year $36 million dollar contract before last season. This move leaves them with just over $12.5 million in dead money and saves just over $1.725 million against this cap for this season, assuming he is a pre-June 1st cut. This regime really seems like they are determined to undo pretty much all of the deals that Ran Carthon did last offseason. Awuzie played in just eight games last season because of injuries.

The Titans still have some depth at the cornerback position, assuming L’Jarius Sneed can come back healthy with guys like Roger McCreary and Jarvis Brownlee Jr. in that room. However, you can never have enough corners in the NFL. The Titans are now an injury away from really being thin at the position.

You can add corner to the positions that the Titans will be looking to add on the third day in this year’s draft. They are going to need some more picks....

Titans signing offensive lineman Blake Hance

Hopefully, Hance isn’t the starting plan

Aaron Wilson is reporting that the Tennessee Titans are signing interior offensive lineman Blake Hance to a 1-year deal worth $1.327 million. Hance has bounced around the league a little bit playing for the Cleveland Browns, San Francisco 49ers, and Jacksonville Jaguars in his 5 years in the league. He has ties to Titans offensive line coach Bill Callahan from their time together with the Browns.

Hance should not be the plan to start at right guard. Anytime a guy has been on 3 teams in 5 years it does not point to him being a good player. He does, however, give them some much needed depth on the interior of the line.

Melo wrote this morning about some guys that the Titans could still target in free agency including Mekhi Becton, Kevin Zeitler, Teven Jenkins, and Brandon Scherff. All of those guys are better than Hance. The Titans will hopefully add one of those guys as well.

Cam Ward to Titans hype continues via Daniel Jeremiah and Mel Kiper mock drafts

Both Daniel Jeremiah and Mel Kiper have the Tennessee Titans selecting Cam Ward in their latest mock drafts

The plan for the Tennessee Titans at No. 1 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft is becoming clearer. Both Mel Kiper Jr. and Daniel Jeremiah released brand-new first-round projections. Two of the more plugged-in daft analysts in the nation, Kiper and Jeremiah both have the Titans taking Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward.

Mock Draft 3.0https://t.co/F3bHUw3VrO

— Daniel Jeremiah (@MoveTheSticks) March 18, 2025

“As we inch closer to the draft, it’s beginning to look more and more likely that Ward will be the first overall pick, whether it’s to the Titans or one of the QB-needy teams that sit close behind them in the order, if one were to trade up to No. 1,” Jeremiah wrote. “In this case, Tennessee stays put and gets a fresh start at the position.”

Jeremiah left a little wiggle room for the Titans to still negotiate a trade at No. 1 overall. Rumors linking the New York Giants to a potential trade-up have quieted since they’ve shifted their attention to landing Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson in free agency.

As mentioned, Kiper also has the Titans taking Ward at No. 1.

The legend @MelKiperESPN has dropped his latest mock draft and - as always - he brings the goods. https://t.co/Vrh6pqXYRi

— Field Yates (@FieldYates) March 18, 2025

“We’re still not 100 percent sure what the Titans will do,” Kiper analyses. “They could try to trade this pick to a QB-needy team such as the Giants. Tennessee could opt for one of the top two prospects in the class in Colorado wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter or Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter. Both players would fill holes on the roster. But it sure seems the stars are starting to align for Tennessee to draft its next franchise QB.

Will Levis is still under contract, but he ranked last in the NFL in QBR last season at 27.8. And the Titans’ only QB-related move in free agency was replacing Mason Rudolph with Brandon Allen. Ward’s ability to improvise under center, throw lasers to his receivers and pick up the occasional first down with his legs would be welcome in Nashville. He led the FBS in touchdown passes in 2024 with 39.”

Kiper also mentions the possibility of trading the pick to the Giants, but goes on to say, “the stars are starting to align for Tennessee to draft its next franchise QB.” Kiper, like Jeremiah also did, is probably reading the tea leaves. The Titans haven’t shown any legitimate interest in any veteran free agent quarterbacks, Brandon Allen notwithstanding.

They haven’t entered the Rodgers or Wilson sweepstakes. They didn’t pursue Sam Darnold. That strongly suggests a plan is in place. Ward to the Titans is picking up steam, and mainstream analysts such as Kiper and Jeremiah are hopping on board.

Ranking the Titans’ position groups following first wave of NFL free agency

NCAA Football: Pop Tarts Bowl-Iowa State at Miami

Nathan Ray Seebeck-Imagn Images

How is the Tennessee Titans’ roster shaping up following the first wave of NFL free agency?

The Tennessee Titans spent the first wave of NFL free agency plugging both long-term and short-term holes. General manager Mike Borgonzi has taken a concise approach to build the trenches while targeting durable players. With most notable free agents off the board, the first wave of player acquisition has officially concluded.

The Titans also hold the No. 1 overall selection in the 2025 NFL Draft. With major shake-ups via free agency likely in our rearview mirror, we’ve ranked their current position groups worst to best.

Quarterback

The Titans currently have the worst quarterback situation in the NFL. Signing Brandon Allen to “compete” with Will Levis obviously doesn’t change that. Borgonzi appears to be targeting Miami Hurricanes QB Cam Ward at No. 1 overall.

Wide Receiver

Calvin Ridley is the only proven asset at wide receiver on the roster. Head coach Brian Callahan can’t rely on Jha’Quan Jackson and Treylon Burks, and replacing Nick Westbrook-Ikhine with Van Jefferson was a downgrade. The Titans need to draft instant contributors at receiver.

EDGE

Arden Key and Dre’Mont Jones are the current starters. Jones has inside-outside versatility and shouldn’t play EDGE full time. Releasing Harold Landry created an even larger hole than the one already present after the Titans recorded the third-fewest sacks in the league last season.

Off-ball Linebackers

Borgonzi traded Kenneth Murray to the Dallas Cowboys. Cody Barton is the new starter, but the Titans have nothing proven opposite their free-agent signing. Is Otis Reese, Cedric Gray, or James Williams the answer? Linebacker is a big-time need.

Safety

Xavier Woods is a short-term solution opposite Amani Hooker. The Titans also re-signed Mike Brown, who provides adequate depth. Borgonzi could still target a safety in the draft with more upside.

Tight End

Chigoziem Okonkwo and Josh Whyle are useful tight ends at the position. Nick Vannett was TE3 last season, and remains available in free agency. The Titans could use another player here, especially one capable of replacing Vannett as the premier in-line blocker.

Cornerback

The cornerback spot received an unexpected shake-up following Chido Awuzie’s release. Jarvis Brownlee Jr. is now the starter opposite L’Jarius Sneed. Roger McCreary is the nickel, and Darrell Baker Jr. was retained to provide depth. This group’s performance ceiling largely depends on Sneed’s health.

Offensive Line

Could the offensive line actually be a strength for a change? Signing Dan Moore Jr. and Kevin Zeitler, and moving JC Latham to right tackle has potentially upgraded three spots. The Titans appear to be entering the season without a clear-cut weakness on the offensive line, though it’s worth monitoring Lloyd Cushenberry’s recovery from a season-ending Achilles.

Running Back

Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears should continue to form a formidable one-two punch in Callahan’s backfield. Pollard was a workhorse, and Spears should be more involved when healthy. Will the Titans acquire a powerful goal-line back via the draft?

Interior Defensive Line

Jeffery Simmons and T’Vondre Sweat alter opposing game plans. Sebastian Joseph-Day was wisely re-signed, as was Keondre Coburn. The addition of Jones adds another layer to the best overall position group on the Titans.

Titans show faith in Jarvis Brownlee Jr. following Chido Awuzie release

Jacksonville Jaguars v Tennessee Titans

Jarvis Brownlee Jr. is now a full-time starter for the Tennessee Titans

The Tennessee Titans made the borderline surprising decision to release cornerback Chido Awuzie from his contract earlier this week. Awuzie was signed by previous general manager Ran Carthon to a three-year, $36 million deal just last offseason. His departure catapults sophomore cornerback Jarvis Brownlee Jr. into a full-time boundary role opposite L’Jarius Sneed.

The Titans did not designate Awuzie as a post-June release, per Paul Kuharsky. They’ve elected to absorb the full $12.5 million in 2025 dead cap. After trading linebacker Kenneth Murray, new GM Mike Borgonzi is quickly ridding the Titans of last offseason’s mistakes.

A rookie fifth-round pick last year, Brownlee Jr. ended up leading all Titans defenders in snaps at 913. That wasn’t the expectation, but the Louisville standout was catapulted into the lineup for 14 games as a starter following serious injuries to Sneed and Awuzie. Brownlee Jr. played nearly 87% of Dennard Wilson’s defensive snaps.

Wilson and Brian Callahan didn’t necessarily have a choice but to play Brownlee Jr. last season. Their two massive offseason acquisitions were routinely sidelined. Now, perhaps with assists from Borgonzi and Chad Brinker, the Titans are making the conscious decision to elevate Brownlee Jr. into a full-time starting role.

Pro Football Focus credited Brownlee Jr. with allowing 55 receptions on 81 targets last season for a conversion-to-completion rate of 67.9 percent. Brownlee Jr. allowed 663 yards and four touchdowns. He was very competitive at the catch point, recording six pass breakups and one interception. The numbers were stellar considering he played a far larger role than expected. He was whistled for nine penalties, which represents an area of improvement for 2025.

Brownlee Jr. added 75 total tackles and a fumble recovery to his defensive totals. He finished third on the team in that category, trailing just Murray (95) and Jeffery Simmons (76). The Titans allowed a second-lowest 177.3 passing yards per contest.

Brownlee Jr. will now be tasked with showcasing sophomore improvement in Wilson’s defense in 2025. The Titans weren’t expecting to rely on him last campaign, but his breakout was useful. Now, the Titans are fully expecting Brownlee Jr. to be a high-end starter.

Titans agree to terms with K Joey Slye, replace Nick Folk

Buffalo Bills v New England Patriots

The Titans make a change at kicker

The Tennessee Titans have agreed to terms with free-agent kicker Joey Slye, according to a report from Ian Rapoport. The Titans are officially replacing Nick Folk at kicker. The special teams overhaul continues under new coordinator John “Bones” Fassel after the team also parted ways with punter Ryan Stonehouse earlier this offseason.

The #Titans are adding a kicker, as they are signing former #Patriots and #Commanders kicker Joey Slye, per agent Glenn Schwartzman of Shark Sports Management. pic.twitter.com/z1Epea1A6b

— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) March 24, 2025

Slye spent the 2024 campaign with the New England Patriots. He struggled, converting 26-of-33 attempts for a make percentage of 78.8%. Slye did go six-of-nine on attempts from 50-plus yards. He possesses a significantly stronger leg than Folk did. That must have been a point of emphasis for Fassel and general manager Mike Borgonzi.

While Slye possesses a stronger leg than Folk, he’s obviously far less accurate. His 78.8% conversion percentage is far worse than Folk’s was in 2024 (95.5%). While Folk posted a league-leading percentage last season, Slye ranked 28th.

Accuracy has been a consistent issue for Slye throughout his career. In 2023 with the Washington Commanders, his make percentage was a similar 79.2% in. It was 83.3% in 2022, and his six-year career average is 81.7%. The Titans are his sixth different team in seven campaigns.

It’s worth noting Slye is significantly younger than Folk. Slye turns 29 this year, whereas Folk is nearing his 41st birthday. Getting younger at kicker may have been a must-do for a rebuilding Titans franchise.

Fassel must believe he can fix Slye’s technique and accuracy. If so, the Titans will have an improved kicker with a monster leg. Consider Slye’s 2024 campaign as a litmus test for Fassel’s coaching ability.

The arm strength was really on display here. It should come as no surprise that he looked good in these drills. He has all of the physical skills he needs to be a really good NFL quarterback. The only thing that is in question is the decision making. Can the Titans, or whatever team ends up drafting him, cut down on the turnovers that were a big problem for him at times at Miami?

It was also reported that the Titans took him out to dinner last night ahead of the workout today. They are no doubt doing their due diligence to be sure that he is the guy they want leading their franchise.

I have said all along that I would like for them to trade the pick because of how many holes they have on the roster, but they should absolutely take Ward if they are convinced he can be a franchise quarterback. You have nothing until you have a quarterback. If he is it, they can figure out the rest over the next couple of drafts.

Titans hosting dynamic TE prospect on pre-draft visit

2025 NFL Scouting Combine

The Tennessee Titans are hosting Oregon TE Terrance Ferguson on a pre-draft visit

The Tennessee Titans sent a large contingent to Miami on Monday to watch Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward perform at Pro Day. The group in attendance included general manager Mike Borgonzi, president Chad Brinker, head coach Brian Callahan, offensive coordinator Nick Holz, and quarterbacks coach Bo Hardegree, among front-office assistants Dave Ziegler and Reggie McKenzie. Even Jim Wyatt and members of the in-house media crew were sent to capture footage of Ward, the potential No. 1 overall selection in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The Titans’ brass quickly returned to Nashville and even began hosting another pre-draft prospect on a visit. Oregon Ducks tight end Terrance Ferguson is in town for a “30” visit with the Titans, according to a report from Paul Kuharsky. That is awfully interesting.

Oregon tight end Terrance Ferguson is in Nashville for a 30 visit with the #Titans Tuesday.

— Paul Kuharsky (@PaulKuharskyNFL) March 25, 2025

Tight end isn’t generally considered a massive need for the Titans. They’re entering 2025 with Chig Okonkwo and Josh Whyle still on their rookie contracts. A third player is needed, but it doesn’t necessarily need to be a high-level prospect. Alternatively, Okonkwo is entering a contract campaign, and if the Titans are high on Ferguson, they could draft him where the public expects them to draft a receiver.

Ferguson recorded 43 receptions for 591 receiving yards and three touchdowns for an explosive Ducks offense that had Dillon Gabriel under center this past season. It was an appropriate follow-up to a 2023 campaign that saw Ferguson produce 42 catches for 414 yards and a career-high six end-zone visits.

Ferguson was also outstanding at the NFL Combine. The Littleton, Colorado native ran a blazing-fast 4.63-second 40 yard dash at 6-foot-5 and 247 pounds. Ferguson also leaped a 39 inch vertical and 10-foot-2 broad jump. His Relative Athletic Score (RAS) is an elite 9.30.

The Titans desperately need to acquire pass catchers to pair with Calvin Ridley for the next starting quarterback. Many expect that to be a wide receiver in the 35-100 range. Perhaps the Titans will surprise the masses by drafting a tight end like Ferguson instead.

Titans 7-round 2025 NFL Mock Draft

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: DEC 28 Pop-Tarts Bowl - Iowa State vs Miami

Photo by David Rosenblum/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images

A Tennessee Titans seven-round 2025 NFL mock draft

The 2025 NFL Draft is officially four’ish weeks away. The Tennessee Titans are equipped with the No. 1 overall selection. All dot-connecting indications are the Titans are targeting a quarterback with that pick. While that’s understandably dominating the conversation, general manager Mike Borgonzi must address several needs. Wide receiver, EDGE, and linebacker currently have glaring holes.

With April’s festivities fast approaching, we’ve conducted a new seven-round Titans mock draft.

Round 1 (No. 1 overall): Cam Ward, QB, Miami

The Titans appear poised to select Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward at No. 1 overall. Reports indicate Ward’s pre-draft visit to Nashville went incredibly well. Borgonzi and Brian Callahan will further assess the off-script QB at Monday’s Pro Day. He possesses the athleticism and playmaking ability to develop into an exciting quarterback at the next level. The Titans can’t go into the season with Will Levis and Brandon Allen under center.

Round 2 (No. 35 overall): Nic Scourton, EDGE, Texas A&M

Sources indicate the Titans will target a pass rusher with this pick. A plethora of borderline first-round EDGEs should be available here, giving Borgonzi options. One potential target is Texas A&M’s Nic Scourton. Scourton is a powerful three-down linemen who consistently sets the edge and gets into the backfield.

Round 4 (No. 103 overall): Tai Felton, WR, Maryland

The Titans desperately need to draft multiple receivers capable of being instant contributors. Tai Felton is a little wiry and lacks physicality, but he possesses elite top-end speed. Felton is also a creative after-the-catch threat in the open field, and he was super productive at Maryland, recording 96 receptions for 1,124 yards and nine touchdowns this past season.

Round 4 (No. 120 overall): Miles Frazier, IOL, LSU

Interior offensive line depth is needed. Kevin Zeitler is a one-year solution at right guard and center Lloyd Cushenberry is recovering from a season-ending Achilles injury. The team has not re-signed Daniel Brunskill. Miles Frazier is a position-versatile blocker with a physical mindset and first-step explosion.

Round 5 (No. 141 overall): Smael Mondon Jr., LB, Georgia

Who is starting at linebacker opposite Cody Barton? The Titans parted ways with Kenneth Murray, Jack Gibbens, Chance Campbell, and Luke Gifford at the position this offseason. Is Otis Reese IV, James Williams, or Cedric Gray ready for an elevated role here? The Titans have enough young depth at the position to prevent them from investing a super-high pick at a non-premium position, Georgia’s Smael Mondon Jr. is versatile and athletic with a ton of upside in coverage.

Round 5 (No. 167 overall): Isaiah Neyor, WR, Nebraska

Isaiah Neyor recently claimed the Titans have shown interest in him throughout the pre-draft process. They need to draft multiple pass catchers. Neyor is a big-bodied pass catcher (6-foot-4, 218 pounds), pairing an effective release package at the line of scrimmage with ball-tracking skills.

Round 6 (No. 178 overall): Robert Longerbeam, CB, Rutgers

The Titans have shown interest in Rutgers cornerback Robert Longerbeam, sources recently confirmed. They need depth at cornerback after releasing Chido Awuzie. Longerbeam recorded 42 career pass breakups in college.

Round 6 (No. 188 overall): Kalel Mullings, RB, Michigan

Multiple offseason reports have indicated the Titans are interested in a powerful back to rotate in and out of the backfield with Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears. Someone like Kalel Mullings is better-suited for that role than Julius Chestnut is. Mullings is a bruiser with tackle-breaking ability.

This could be interesting, or it could be nothing.

The Tennessee Titans have signed quarterback Tim Boyle:

With the addition of Boyle, the Titans now have three quarterbacks on the roster - Will Levis, Brandon Allen, and Boyle. It’s pretty interesting that we spent a lot of time talking about the veteran quarterbacks the Titans could sign heading into free agency. Not once did we mention Allen or Boyle. That’s because the assumption was they would bring someone in to compete with Levis. Neither of the guys they have signed have any chance to be a starting quarterback in the NFL.

This could mean that they are planning on trading Levis before draft night and taking Cam Ward with the first pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. In that scenario, Ward is without a doubt the day one starter with Allen and Boyle battling it out in camp to be the backup.

It could also mean that they aren’t going to take Ward, and these three guys are going to battle it out in camp to be the starter. That seems way less likely, because like I said, neither Allen nor Boyle is a legitimate threat to be the week one starter.

Titans host dynamic RB, athletic OT on pre-draft visits

The Tennessee Titans continue to surprise with their pre-draft visits

It’s been a busy week for the Tennessee Titans in preparation for the 2025 NFL Draft. The organization traveled in waves to Miami to watch Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward perform at his Pro Day. They then returned home and hosted Oregon Ducks tight end Terrance Ferguson on a pre-draft visit.

More news has since emerged. According to his own social media account, the Titans hosted Iowa Hawkeyes running back Kaleb Johnson on a visit. Sources also confirmed to our Justin Melo that William & Mary offensive tackle Charles Grant has an upcoming visit with the Titans.

— Billy M (@BillyM_91) March 26, 2025

The Johnson visit is particularly intriguing. Running back appears to be one of the stronger positions on a bad Titans roster, with Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears under contract through the 2026 campaign. Johnson was absolutely dynamic for the Hawkeyes this past season. The Hamilton, Ohio native rushed for an astounding 1,537 yards and 21 touchdowns.

Johnson is a 6-foot, 225 pound three-down back. He also added 22 receptions to his offensive totals this past campaign. Johnson carries elite potential at the next level, which is probably why the Titans are doing their homework on him despite already rostering two backs. Pollard and Spears may not be viewed as long-term solutions beyond 2025, and the Iowa playmaker would give Brian Callahan a between-the-tackles runner at his size.

Johnson is a decisive runner with three-down size. He’s experienced in Callahan’s zone-rushing scheme and is stout in pass protection with more upside to be explored as a receiver. The issue is that Johnson is expected to be drafted in the second or third round. Running back should be a low priority on the Titans’ wish-list, and they don’t even own a third-round selection.

.@WMTribeFootball OT Charles Grant is among the most intriguing talents in the 2025 NFL Draft. Teams LOVE his athleticism.

30 visits: Titans, Ravens, Texans, Raiders, Eagles, Falcons, Bengals.@CharlesGrant51 joins me on @TheDraftNetwork:https://t.co/JOUB1MhhWu

— Justin M (@JustinM_NFL) March 26, 2025

It’s a similar situation with Grant. The Titans have premium resources invested in offensive tackle via Dan Moore Jr. and JC Latham. Grant projects as a Day Two, or early Day Three selection. General manager Mike Borgonzi has an abundance of roster needs to address before thinking about adding another tackle.

Grant is an uber-athletic raw prospect who would be the perfect developmental project for Bill Callahan. He was a late bloomer with a wrestling background. He began playing football late into his high school career, which is how he ended up at a smaller program like William & Mary. His tape is incredibly impressive, and he’s elevated his pre-draft stock into the top 75 conversation.

Abdul Carter will not work out at Penn State Pro Day

Ohio State v Penn State

Not good for the potential top-5 pick

Abdul Carter is the guy I came into this draft season wanting the Tennessee Titans to draft. The hope was that they would be able to work out a trade with the New York Giants, where they would pick up multiple picks in the top three drafts over the next two years and draft Carter. Of course, that plan was contingent on the Titans signing a competent veteran quarterback who could compete with Will Levis in training camp.

A lot has changed over the last few months. It was announced at the NFL Combine that Carter had a stress reaction in his foot and would not work out. At the time, he and his people said he would work out at Penn State’s Pro Day. Well, today it was announced that he will not work out at Penn State’s Pro Day. That’s a big red flag.

Also, the Titans have not signed a competent veteran quarterback, so it seems like they will be sticking with the first pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and taking Cam Ward.

Titans switch to “Titans blue” as primary home jersey

Some good news and some bad news in today’s announcement.

The Tennessee Titans announced today that they will be switching to the light blue or “Titans blue” as their home jersey for the 2025 season. The navy blue has been the primary home jersey since they became the Titans in 1999. They didn’t introduce the Titans blue until the 2003 season. That’s the good news. It’s a better look than the navy.

The bad news is that they also announced they will not be wearing the Houston Oilers throwbacks in 2025. That’s bad on two fronts. The first and most important thing is that the Houston Texans people get really mad when the Titans wear the Oilers throwbacks. That is really fun.

The second, and least important, is that those uniforms are really cool. It has become my favorite look for the team. I don’t want them to wear it all the time, because they aren’t the Oilers, but it is fun to see it a couple of times a year.

Matt Miller seven round 2025 NFL Draft

NFL Scouting Combine Portraits

Where do the Titans go after Cam Ward in round one?

Despite Mike Borgonzi saying earlier this week that all of the options are still on the table Tennessee Titans, I’d be shocked at this point if the Titans don't use the first pick of the draft on Cam Ward. That increases the likelihood that they trade down at the top of the second round. That’s the only way Chad Brinker is going to get the number of picks in the top 100 over the next few years that he wants if they stick and pick Ward.

Matt Miller put out a seven-round 2025 NFL mock draft over at ESPN this morning. He has the Titans taking Ward at 1.1. Here were his comments on the pick:

Every option is on the table for the Titans, but all signs point to them selecting a quarterback here. They didn’t add competition for starter Will Levis in free agency despite it being a clear-cut need. And while Abdul Carter and Travis Hunter are blue-chip prospects, it’d be hard for the Titans to justify not taking a quarterback with this pick.

Ward’s arm talent, mobility, and penchant for big plays would open up Brian Callahan’s offense. Ward led the FBS with 39 touchdown passes and added another four on the ground. His steady development in five college seasons, spanning from FCS Incarnate Word to Washington State to Miami, indicates coachability, and he has room to grow further. New Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi also needs to get more offensive playmakers and a top edge rusher after losing Harold Landry III. But drafting Ward would give Tennessee a foundation to build on.

From there, he had the Titans taking Tyler Booker, G, Alabama (Roll Tide) at pick 35. Again, I think there is a good chance they trade this pick. Guard isn’t an immediate need with the Titans signing Kevin Zeitler in free agency, but it was just a one-year deal for Zeitler. Taking Booker would give them the heir apparent there, so they wouldn’t have to be searching for a guard again next offseason.

Miller’s comments on Booker:

The Titans selected Ward in Round 1, now they must protect him. Even after signing left tackle Dan Moore Jr. in free agency and shifting JC Latham to right tackle, the Titans need help up front. Adding Booker to former first-rounder Peter Skoronski at guard could make Tennessee’s line a strength, especially under offensive line coach Bill Callahan’s tutelage. Booker’s combine workout was OK, but his tape shows a complete blocker with the toughness and instincts to be very good right away.

Here is how the rest of the draft played out for the Titans:

Round 4, pick 103: Jordan Burch, EDGE, Oregon

Round 4, pick 120: Kyle Williams, WR, Washington State

Round 5, pick 141: Danny Stutsman, LB, Oklahoma

Round 5, pick 167: Mac Williams, CB, Central Florida

Round 6, pick 178: Maxen Hook, S, Toledo

Round 6, pick 188: Collin Olliver, EDGE, Oklahoma State

Would you be happy with this draft?

Titans HC Brian Callahan provides update on L’Jarius Sneed, Lloyd Cushenberry

Injury updates on two key Tennessee Titans

The Tennessee Titans are drawing a crowd at the annual owners meetings. Head coach Brian Callahan discussed a variety of topics, including Cam Ward and the No. 1 overall selection in the 2025 NFL Draft. One of the more interesting discussions surrounded the health status of cornerback L’Jarius Sneed and center Lloyd Cushenberry, both of whom suffered season-ending injuries in 2024.

Sneed specifically suffered a peculiar and persistent quad injury that never went away, ultimately ending his season. “Sneed should definitely be ready for camp,” Callahan told Titans reporters. “He’s moving right along in the rehab process. He’s been around the building and trying to prove he’s still one of the best corners in football.”

L'Jarius Sneed should be ready for camp, per Callahan. #Titans

— Paul Kuharsky (@PaulKuharskyNFL) March 31, 2025

Sneed appeared in just five games with the Titans after being acquired from the Kansas City Chiefs in a blockbuster trade for a 2025 third-round pick. Sneed allowed just nine receptions and a quarterback rating of 74.9, according to Pro Football Focus. His coverage metrics remained inconsistent, however, and he was tagged with a lackluster grade of 36.8.

The Titans will be even more reliant on Sneed in 2025 after releasing fellow 2024 offseason acquisition Chido Awuzie earlier this month. Sophomore corner Jarvis Brownlee Jr. will serve as the boundary starter opposite Sneed. Brownlee Jr. was forced into the lineup as a rookie due to injuries, but he’ll be considered a full-time starter moving forward.

Things were less certain with Cushenberry. Callahan said he’s “hopeful” the starting center will be ready for the start of training camp. Cushenberry is recovering from a serious season-ending Achilles injury. The Titans plan to be patient with his recovery given the severity.

.@Titans HC Brian Callahan said he’s hopeful center Lloyd Cushenberry will be ready for training camp. Team will be patient with him as he recovers from Achilles injury, he said

— Jim Wyatt (@jwyattsports) March 31, 2025

Cushenberry was signed to a lucrative four-year contract worth $50 million by previous general manager Ran Carthon. Cushenberry earns a sizable $12.5 million annually. He appeared in eight games before going down with a brutal injury.

The Titans re-signed veteran center Corey Levin earlier this offseason. Callahan expressed confidence in him to begin the season at center if Cushenberry isn’t ready. Levin played 133 snaps for the Titans throughout 2024.
