Titans opening odds: Tennessee opens as 7.5-point home underdog against the Texans

gettyimages-2237615596.jpg

The Tennessee Titans had their best week since the win over the Arizona Cardinals this week. They saw the New York Jets, New York Giants, and Cleveland Browns all win. That gives the Titans a full game lead in the quest for the number one overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. They will look to keep the first overall pick this week against the Houston Texans. The Titans are currently a 7.5-point underdog over at FanDuel Sportsbook.

While the Titans were off this week, the Texans scored 26 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 36-29. C.J. Stround did not play in the game after suffering a concussion last week. We won’t know his status for Sunday’s game until later in the week. Davis Mills threw for 292 yards with two touchdowns and an interception, filling in for Stroud.

There is a chance the Titans could get some key starters back against the Texans. Jeffery Simmons, Calvin Ridley, and Arden Key should all have a chance to be back for this divisional match-up.

These two teams met back in week four with the Texans winning 26-0. Tennessee failed to make it to the red zone in that one.

Titans make roster moves ahead of Texans game

imagn-26905672.jpg

The Tennessee Titans announced this morning that they have opened the return window for running back Kalel Mullings and safety Mike Brown. That means they will have three weeks to either activate them or place them on season ending Injured Reserve. Mullings has been on IR since early October because of an ankle injury. When Mullings is back, I’d like to see him get some run on offense. The Titans’ running back room will most likely look a lot different next year. Tony Pollard probably isn’t back next year, and Tyjae Spears is in the final year of his rookie contract. They need to see what they have in Mullings.

Brown will need to play some significant snaps at safety after Quandre Diggs asked for and was granted his release at the end of last week.

The Titans also announced that they signed outside linebacker Nate Lynn to the practice squad. Lynn signed with the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent after the 2024 NFL Draft. He got hurt in the 2024 preseason and spent the year on IR. He was then cut after the Lions’ 2025 preseason. To make room for Lynn, the Titans released WR Lance McCutcheon from the practice squad.

Titans 3-round 2026 NFL mock draft: trading down

imagn-27250074.jpg

The Tennessee Titans moved up the No. 1 pick in the live 2026 NFL Draft order during their Week 10 bye week. Victories by the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints on Sunday greatly improved the Titans’ current draft positioning.

With that in mind, we conducted a three-round Titans mock draft using The Draft Network’s Mock Draft Machine (MDM).

Round 1 (No. 4 overall): Rueben Bain Jr., EDGE, Miami

trade: Titans acquire No 4, 2026 third-round pick (No. 69), 2027 first-round pick
trade: Browns acquire No. 1 overall

The Titans trade down with the QB-needy Cleveland Browns at No. 4 overall and acquire a 2026 third-round pick and 2027 first-rounder. Mike Borgonzi may command even more than this, but getting that 2027 first in a potentially historic class is crucial. Furthermore, the Titans still landed a premium edge rusher in Rueben Bain Jr. with the fourth selection.

Round 2 (No. 33 overall): Chris Bell, WR, Louisville

Calvin Ridley is a potential offseason salary cap casualty. Chimere Dike and Elic Ayomanor are playing like future solutions, but the Titans will need to acquire at least two starting-caliber receivers if they cut Ridley. Chris Bell is enjoying a big-time season at Louisville. Bell is a physical, sturdy receiver who excels at making plays after the catch.

Round 3 (No. 65 overall): Chris Johnson, CB, San Diego State

If you watch the Titans on Sundays, you know cornerback is a massive offseason need. Jalyn Armour-Davis and Barrell Baker Jr. are temporary solutions for a terrible team that traded Jarvis Brownlee and Roger McCreary. Furthermore, the Titans probably will cut L’Jarius Sneed this offseason. Chris Johnson is a small-schooler out of San Diego State who is generating top-64 buzz.

Round 3 (No. 69 overall): Jam Miller, RB, Alabama

The Titans address running back with the extra selection acquired from the Browns. Tony Pollard is another potential offseason casualty. If the Titans move on from Pollard, they’ll need another back to pair with Tyjae Spears and Kalel Mullings. Alabama’s Jam Miller has terrific explosiveness with good contact balance. He’s a physical runner.

2026 NFL mock draft: What do the Titans do with the first pick?

imagn-27539237.jpg

Yesterday was a good day for the Tennessee Titans. The New York Jets, New Orleans Saints, and Cleveland Browns all won. That leaves the Titans as the only one-win team in the NFL. It’s still an uphill battle for the Titans to get the first pick. They have the strongest strength of schedule against of any team picking in the top ten. They also still have games against the Browns and Saints.

I hate cheering against the Titans this early in the season. Hopefully, the Browns, Saints, and Jets can all pick up a couple more wins so the Titans can as well and still end up with the number one pick. That probably won’t happen.

Today is Mock Draft Monday here at MCM. This week’s 2026 NFL mock draft at Tankathon has the Titans taking Rueben Bain Jr., EDGE, Miami, with the first overall pick. I don’t have a problem with the Titans taking Bain Jr., but they cannot take him with the first overall pick. If they end up at one, they absolutely have to trade down to add a future first-round pick.

Of note in this mock, three quarterbacks, Fernando Mendoza, Dante Moore, and Ty Simpson, all go in the first five picks. There is a rumor that Moore isn’t coming out this year, so that will be something to keep an eye on. It’s also not a slam dunk that Simpson comes out. He’s been great this year for Alabama, but this is his first year as a starter. He’ll have an interesting decision to make when the time comes.

Could Matt LaFleur become a Titans coaching candidate?

imagn-27371932.jpg

The Tennessee Titans remain in the incredibly early stages of their head coaching search. General manager Mike Borgonzi confirmed as much during last week’s post-trade deadline press conference. The Titans aren’t even fully aware of which candidates will be considered available.

Matt Nagy and Arthur Smith have been mentioned as potential candidates. Nagy has ties to Borgonzi through Kansas City, and Smith obviously has ties to the organization through his stint as offensive coordinator. Meanwhile the conversation on hot-shot coordinator candidates is changing every week.

Joe Brady isn’t looking as popular. The New York Giants fired Brian Daboll and made once-Titans candidate Mike Kafka (he interviewed in 2024) interim head coach. Klint Kubiak gains steam every week, and Jesse Minter, Robert Saleh, and Jeff Hafley are becoming more popular in league circles.

Coaches who get fired could also emerge as candidates. Matt Schneidman, the Green Bay Packers reporter for The Athletic, is reporting that Matt LaFleur is coaching for his job the rest of this season. That’s a stunning allegation, and LaFleur could immediately top the Titans’ list if he became available.

Matt LaFleur might be coaching for his job the rest of the season.

My column: https://t.co/318KHNHm04 pic.twitter.com/itZoZCmt7u

— Matt Schneidman (@mattschneidman) November 11, 2025

The Packers lost 10-7 to the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football. LaFleur’s offense was totally stale for a second consecutive week after they were upset 16-13 by the Carolina Panthers in Week 9. The Packers are 5-3-1.

LaFleur was the Titans’ offensive coordinator in 2018. Despite failing to impress, he immediately got the Packers’ head coaching job in 2019. Mike Vrabel didn’t hand-pick LaFleur, and the two clashed. Smith replaced him in 2019 and the Titans offense took off.

The Packers’ gamble on LaFleur has paid off. He owns an outstanding record (72-36-1) and win percentage (67.1%) as their head coach. The Packers have advanced to two NFC Championship Games and qualified for the postseason in five of LaFleur’s six attempts.

The Titans should remain attentive to LaFleur’s job security in Green Bay.

A couple of Key Titans return to practice; Jeffery Simmons still out

imagn-27082051.jpg

The Tennessee Titans were officially on the practice field for the first time since their bye today. Jeffery Simmons was still unable to practice due to a hamstring injury. Hopefully, that was just a precautionary measure, and he will be able to get on the practice field tomorrow.

Calvin Ridley and Arden Key were both listed as limited participants. It would seem that gives them both a chance to be back for the game Sunday against the Houston Texans. Cam Ward needs Ridley out there in a bad way, well, assuming he gets the Ridley that can catch the football.

Kalel Mullings and Mike Brown, who both had their return to practice window opened this week, were both listed as limited participants.

Chig Okonkwo popped up on the injury report with a foot injury. He was also listed as limited. In case you didn’t pick up on it, there were a lot of guys who were limited participants today.

How would you feel if the Titans hired Matt Nagy as their next HC?

imagn-25064789.jpg

The Tennessee Titans won’t officially begin their coaching search until January. Until then, it’ll remain one of the more talked-about and exciting events in the Titans’ upcoming offseason timeline. There isn’t real-time excitement with the Nashville-based club sporting an NFL-worst 1-8 record.

We analyzed Matt LaFleur’s potential candidacy on Monday after reports emerged out of Green Bay that he’s coaching for his job. Kevin Stefanski could be another surprise candidate. Arthur Smith, Mike McCarthy, and Robert Saleh have been mentioned.

Another recurring name that gets constantly mentioned is current Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy. Nagy’s ties to the job are fairly straightforward. Titans GM Mike Borgonzi spent a considerable amount of time alongside him in KC, and connections are everything in this league.

I expect the Titans’ early list of head coaching candidates to include:

– Matt Nagy
– Lou Anarumo
– Anthony Weaver
– Arthur Smith

More names to keep an eye on if and when other vacancies open up: https://t.co/d50PKCIQ3R pic.twitter.com/LYFFVcFxFa

— Dianna Russini (@DMRussini) October 18, 2025

Many plugged-in Titans analysts are pointing to Nagy as a likely candidate. A to Z’s Easton Freeze and 104.5 The Zone’s Zach Lyons have constantly referenced him in the Titans’ head coaching search. It would be shocking if Nagy wasn’t at least interviewed in January.

Nagy rose to fame as the Chiefs’ OC in 2016-2017. He took the Chicago Bears‘ head coaching job in 2018 and immediately went 12-4 en route to winning NFL Coach of the Year honors. Nagy never recaptured that success, however, going 8-8 in consecutive seasons (2019-20) before a 6-11 campaign got him fired in 2021.

Nagy’s tenure in Chicago has aged better than real-time analysis indicated. The Bears didn’t improve under his successor Matt Eberflus. The biggest issue with Nagy’s time in Chicago was tying his fate to quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, who was a bust regardless of coaching.

Borgonzi’s history with Nagy could be relevant to the Titans’ coaching search. Perhaps he’s better-suited for success on his second attempt after rejoining Andy Reid in Kansas City. The Titans may prioritize experience after striking out on Brian Callahan, and Nagy could check a lot of boxes as a candidate who would be aligned with Borgonzi.

Titans news: You probably can’t watch the game on Sunday

imagn-27486152.jpg

There have been times in the past when a Tennessee Titans game didn’t get broadcast to the entire state. I remember there being a lot of discussion about games not being on in the Memphis area at times when the Titans weren’t very good. This week, it looks like they have hit a new low with the game only being broadcast in middle Tennessee:

#Titans-Texans on Fox Sunday, and Tennessee broadcast footprint is literally Middle Tennessee.

Side effect of being so bad is Titans start to lose whatever hold they have on Knoxville, Chattanooga, Memphis.

Per @506sports. pic.twitter.com/6pk87C0hWX

— Paul Kuharsky (@PaulKuharskyNFL) November 12, 2025

This is a really bad look for the Titans organization because the networks think they will get better ratings showing other games in East and West Tennessee. The networks are probably right. At this point, they might even get better ratings on a different game, even in middle Tennessee, but I think they are contractually obligated to broadcast the game there.

  • Cam Ward took some time to self-scout during the bye. Ward hasn’t played as well as we would have liked early on, but there is no doubt he is going to put in the work to get better. Ward from Wyatt’s article:
“Just took time, just getting back to the basics of football, getting my body healthy,” Ward said on Wednesday. “And then just resetting my mind to go play another season.
  • On that front, Paul Kuharsky says that it will take the offseason for Ward to fix some of the mechanical issues he has when he throws the ball. There is no doubt that Brian Callahan spent a lot of time with Ward during the offseason working on his mechanics. Hopefully, the next offensive staff will help him take the next steps in that process.
  • The Titans have a 36.6% chance of landing the first pick and an 87.3% chance of landing a top-5 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft according to ESPN. The Titans have played the toughest schedule in the NFL to this point. Things get easier after the bye. How many more games will the Titans win this season?

Titans coaching search: Tennessee reportedly interested in Lane Kiffin

imagn-27480276.jpg

Every year, Lane Kiffin is one of the hottest names in college football coaching searches. Kiffin went through a lot of ups and downs as a young coach, but has really settled in at Ole Miss and done a fantastic job there. He is in his sixth season in Oxford and has compiled a 53-19 record there.

Bruce Feldman wrote about Kiffin and the open college jobs today, but included this nugget in his article:

This situation seems to be trending in a positive direction for Rebels fans who would like to keep their coach, but one note of caution: One industry source said there was at least a modicum of interest in Kiffin among decision-makers with the Tennessee Titans.

Now, that would be an outside-the-box hire. Kiffin does have experience as an NFL coach. He was the head coach of the Oakland Raiders for 20 games in 2007 and 2008. It was a messy ending: the then-owner of the Raiders, Al Davis, fired Kiffin for cause after the team went 5-15 during Kiffin’s tenure.

Kiffin has seemingly grown a lot since then as a coach and a person. Now, does that mean the Tennessee Titans should hire him as their next head coach? That’s a good question. The thing we do know about Kiffin is that he can coach quarterbacks. His quarterbacks have been really good at pretty much every stop along the way. He did a fantastic job with different types of quarterbacks as the offensive coordinator at Alabama under Nick Saban. He’d be great for Ward.

At the end of the day, my guess is that Kiffin stays at Ole Miss. He has a really good thing going there, and as Feldman mentions in the article, his family has really settled in at Ole Miss. There was a report, from Chris Low, I think, that Kiffin almost took the Auburn job last year, but his daughter convinced him to stay in Oxford, where she is a student at Ole Miss.

Do you want the Lane Train as the next head coach of the Titans?

Titans should get three starters back today against the Texans

imagn-27029618.jpg

The Tennessee Titans have been playing without Jeffery Simmons, Calvin Ridley, and Arden Key for the last few weeks. All three were listed as questionable on Friday. The Titans didn’t elevate anyone from the practice squad on Saturday, so it seems like all three guys should be good to go today against the Houston Texans. That will be a huge boost for this team.

The Titans currently hold the number one overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Getting that pick would be a huge help to Mike Borgonzi as he tried to build this roster. There is no doubt about that. With that being said, it might be more important for Cam Ward to get a few wins under his belt in his rookie season. Can they get a win today against the Davis Mills-led Texans?

If they are going to do that, it starts with protecting Ward. Houston has two of the best pass rushers up front in Danielle Hunter and Will Anderson. When these two teams met in September, Hunter had two sacks, but that was without JC Latham, who was out with a hip injury. How much of a difference will he make in this game?

On defense, the Titans will need to find a way to pressure Mills because they are extremely thin at corner. If Mills has time, Nico Collins could have a massive day in this one. Collins had four catches for 79 yards in the first match-up. That was the week that L’Jarius Sneed answered “Who?” when asked about Collins. Sneed is on IR now and has probably played his last snap for the Titans.

It’s always fun to beat the Texans. While a win here would hurt the draft pick, it would be pretty massive for Ward to get his first win against an AFC South opponent.

Calvin Ridley suffers season-ending injury in loss to Texans

gettyimages-2247010008.jpg

Calvin Ridley suffered a season-ending broken fibula in today’s Tennessee Titans loss to the Houston Texans. The injury will require surgery, according to Paul Kuharsky. That means that Ridley has likely played in his last game for the Titans. His cap number for next year would be almost $27 million next season. If the Titans cut him, they will save just over $10 million.

Ridley was the Titans’ best receiver in 2024 when he caught 64 passes for 1,017 yards and four touchdowns. He looked poised to have an even bigger season this year after reports in camp about how good his chemistry was with Cam Ward. That didn’t come to fruition with Ridley struggling with drops early in the season. He then suffered a hamstring injury early in the week six loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. Today was his first game back after missing three games, and he suffered the broken leg on his first and only catch of the game.

As if things for Ward and the offense weren’t already tough enough, they just got tougher for the rest of the season.

Tennessee Titans eliminated from AFC South race in Week 11

gettyimages-2242056483.jpg

That didn’t take long. The Tennessee Titans were eliminated in the race for the AFC South title in Week 11 with their loss to the Houston Texans. They can still theoretically make the playoffs as a wild card team if you believe in miracles.

AFC South standings after Week 11

1. Indianapolis Colts (8-2)
2. Jacksonville Jaguars (6-4)
3. Houston Texans (5-5)
4. Tennessee Titans (1-9)

At 1-9, the best the Titans can do is 8-9. The 8-2 Colts can lose out to get to 8-9, as well. But Indianapolis has two wins over the Titans and would win the tiebreaker. For the Colts to get to 8-9, they would need to lose to the Jaguars twice. Jacksonville would then have three divisional wins while the Titans could only get to two.

Titans opening odds: Tennessee opens as big underdog against Seahawks

gettyimages-2247036963.jpg

The Tennessee Titans continue their November homestand this week against the Seattle Seahawks. They opened as a 12.5-point underdog over at FanDuel Sportsbook. That number isn’t big enough. The Seahawks come into this game averaging 29.4 points per game. That is second in the NFL. The Titans average just 14.3 points per game. That’s 32nd.

Seattle is also really good on defense, giving up just 19.3 points per game. That is sixth in the league. The Titans have faced a brutal schedule when it comes to opposing defense. Of the top 10 teams in the league in scoring defense, the Titans have already faced four of them. They have faced two of those teams, the Houston Texans (#1) and the Indianapolis Colts (#9), twice already. Now, some of the success those teams have had is because they have faced the Titans, but that’s still a pretty brutal run with a rookie quarterback.

The only way the Titans are going to win this game is if they can get pressure on Sam Darnold and turn him back into the Darnold that played for the New York Jets. The Los Angeles Rams were able to do that yesterday, forcing Darnold to throw four picks.

It is still too early to make a determination on Titans Cam Ward

gettyimages-2247010140.jpg

We don’t know what Cam Ward is yet. Stop. Read that again. This morning, driving in, listening to sports radio here in Nashville, pretty much every call about the Tennessee Titans was a declaration on what Ward is or isn’t. I said it on Twitter/X earlier, and I will say it here again: anyone who has already made up their mind on Ward doesn’t know ball.

Things are so bad around him that it is impossible to make a judgment on him at this point. Think about it this way, a lot of yesterday afternoon was spent debating whether Mason Kinsey or Ward was at fault for the incompletion yesterday. Mason Kinsey. Paul Kuharsky talked about Kinsey on his postgame show last night:

Mason Kinsey couldn’t make two key plays in the #Titans’ loss. He’s been around since 2020. Every year they should have been finding a guy slightly better. Their love affair lands them here. Unacceptable. #NFL pic.twitter.com/UgFryAuKui

— Paul Kuharsky (@PaulKuharskyNFL) November 17, 2025

It’s an organizational failure that Kinsey is seeing meaningful snaps in a real-life NFL game, and with Calvin Ridley out for the year and Chimere Dike injured, Kinsey is probably going to see even more meaningful snaps down the stretch. That makes Ward’s life really tough.

With all of that being said, are there concerns we have seen that are purely on Ward? Absolutely. His footwork is still a disaster at times. That has affected his accuracy on far too many throws. He also throws sidearm from the pocket far too often, which leads to some passes being deflected at the line.

The bottom line is, Ward is going to get at least three years to prove whether or not he can be a franchise quarterback. He is going to get a chance to work with the new coaching staff to improve on the areas that are deficient in his game, and hopefully, Mike Borgonzi is going to add some playmakers to the roster so that we don’t ever have to talk about Mason Kinsey again.

On the Cam Ward to Mason Kinsey miss

gettyimages-2247030908.jpg

In case you missed it, in the fourth quarter of the Tennessee Titans’ 16-13 loss to the Houston Texans, Mason Kinsey was running wide open down the field, and Cam Ward threw the ball wide of him. If you haven’t seen it, here’s the play:

Oh no… Titans settled for a FG after this play. WR was so open he spun into the Earth's crust. pic.twitter.com/9SYnItTN3g

— Hayden Winks (@HaydenWinks) November 17, 2025

It is quickly becoming one of the most scrutinized plays in Titans’ history. There is a lot of debate on who was at fault. While the only way to actually know that is for someone in the building to tell us, I’m going to use some common sense to pin the fault on Kinsey.

First off, Kinsey said after the game that he had never run that route before. Ward, who has taken pretty much all of the first-team reps since he was drafted, would certainly have a better understanding of where the route is supposed to go.

Secondly, Ward is rolling to his right, and the sideline is open. In what world would it make sense for him to throw the ball across his body back to the middle of the field? In no world, that’s what world.

Or, maybe in the Titans’ world, that is exactly how the play was designed:

The blame game is making its rounds with #Titans fans on this play, so I figured I’d give my 2 cents:

Kinsey is pretty clearly running the double move the way it’s designed. It’s a gross misread of the space from Kinsey, but he didn’t technically do anything wrong (although as… https://t.co/K8dMA7IU8N

— Drew Beatty (@IronCityFilm) November 18, 2025

If that was truly designed that way, it really is a terrible play design.

Here are some informed opinions on the play:

The design of this play is for the receiver to turn back over his inside shoulder, and the QB to throw at the inside of the receiver. Cam throws it like the exact opposite is the case, but it isn’t.

What I’m not positive on is whether Kinsey is supposed to make his second break… https://t.co/eUo2jkrRUb

Titans drop hint that Xavier Restrepo could make Week 12 debut

gettyimages-2219682615.jpg

The Tennessee Titans suffered several injuries to their wide receiver core in Sunday’s Week 11 loss to the Houston Texans. No. 1 wideout Calvin Ridley went down with a season-ending fibula injury. Chimere Dike, though initially cleared concussion protocol after fumbling (and recovering) a punt return, was ruled out with a chest contusion.

That left Cam Ward with a trio of Mason Kinsey, Van Jefferson, and Elic Ayomanor at receiver. Ayomanor was in/out of the game with recurring soreness. Kinsey was at least partially to blame for two missed opportunities as he misplayed explosive passing attempts from Ward.

Interim head coach Mike McCoy provided updates during Monday’s presser with the media. Ridley will go on season-ending IR. Both Dike and Ayomanor will be monitored throughout practice this week. The Titans would be very fortunate if both were healthy enough to play versus the Seattle Seahawks in Week 12.

All the injuries and uncertainty at wide receiver could lead to the Titans promoting one or two receivers from the practice squad. The options are James Proche II and Xavier Restrepo. Titans fans have literally been begging for Restrepo to receive an opportunity with Ward all season long. McCoy dropped a hint that it could finally arrive.

We’ll look at where the roster is,” McCoy said about injuries at wide receiver. “He’s [Xavier Restrepo] done a great job of starting to work more in the kicking game,” McCoy specifically said about Restrepo. “That was something he wasn’t doing as much of early on. He understands the importance of that. We’ll see what happens throughout the week and what are options are.”

Mike McCoy on the status of the #Titans WR group and Xavier Restrepo possibly getting the call up. pic.twitter.com/XRCRl8tRM7

— TURRON DAVENPORT (@TDavenport_NFL) November 17, 2025

A lack of special teams versatility is seemingly why Restrepo didn’t receive an opportunity earlier. The merit of that decision is debatable. Now that Restrepo has familiarized himself with more special teams duties, paired with multiple injuries at receiver, could lead to a Week 12 debut for Ward’s favorite college target.

The Titans have already maxed out Proche’s three gameday elevations allowance. That means once Ridley is placed on IR, Proche is probably likely to take his 53-man roster spot. That doesn’t necessarily mean Restrepo won’t debut on Sunday. Restrepo should replace Kinsey in the Titans’ receiving lineup.

Chimere Dike logs full practice for Titans

imagn-27379276.jpg

The Tennessee Titans were on the practice field today, starting their preparation for the Seattle Seahawks. The good news for the Titans is that rookie wide receiver Chimere Dike was a full participant. He missed the end of the game against the Houston Texans with a chest injury. The bad news is that fellow rookie Elic Ayomanor did not practice because of a hamstring injury. He is probably a long shot to play on Sunday.

Here is the full injury report for Wednesday:

.@Titans Injury Report on Wednesday pic.twitter.com/QSOS0SR3Q1

— Jim Wyatt (@jwyattsports) November 19, 2025

Nothing else from the list is really all that surprising. Jeffery Simmons was probably just held out as a precaution. The hamstring injury that held him out before the Titans’ bye week did not seem to hamper him in the game on Sunday.

Kalel Millings, who is in the second week of his return from IR window, was listed as a full participant. That makes it seem like he will be activated this week. I’d be interested to see him get some carries down the stretch to see if he is a piece they can count on in 2026.

3 Titans defenders who have been so much better than advertised

gettyimages-2233572937.jpg

The Tennessee Titans defense has been better than advertised lately. They held the Houston Texans to 16 points in a Week 11 loss. They routinely made Justin Herbert uncomfortable and scored a pick-six return touchdown in a 27-20 Week 9 defeat to the Los Angeles Chargers.

A stale, ineffective offense has been the Titans’ bigger problem this season. That wasn’t necessarily the expectation heading into the 2025 campaign. Dennard Wilson has the defense playing lights-out. We analyzed three underrated defenders who are a big reason why:

Jihad Ward, EDGE

Jihad Ward ranks second on the Titans in pressures (24), trailing just Jeffery Simmons (31), per Pro Football Focus. That’s extremely impressive considering Simmons has arguably played at an All-Pro level. Ward has twice as many pressures as the next Titans defender on the list (Arden Key, 12).

Ward has really emerged as a contributor. He’s registered 3.5 sacks and outplayed defenders with higher ceilings like Key and Femi Oladejo. Ward is on a one-year contract, and the Titans should seriously consider re-signing him.

Sebastian Joseph-Day, DT

Sebastian Joseph-Day was brought back by Mike Borgonzi this past offseason despite inheriting him from Ran Carthon. Like in 2024, he’s been a quality rotational defensive linemen who filled in like a starter when Simmons and T’Vondre Sweat were hurt. Joseph-Day is fourth on the team in pressures (10).

Joseph-Day was especially dominant versus the Chargers. PFF credited him with three pressures and an elite overall defensive grade of 89.7. Joseph-Day is also on a one-year contract and could influence Borgonzi to bring him back again.

James Lynch, DL

James Lynch is another underrated defender. Like Joseph-Day, he was re-signed by Borgonzi this past offseason despite being a Ran Carthon player. Lynch continues to do the dirty work as an early-down run defender.

Lynch registered four total pressures versus the Indianapolis Colts and Chargers in Weeks 8 and 9. Not only did Lynch help replace Simmons and Sweat, but he also earned snaps as a traditional EDGE after the team traded Dre’Mont Jones, when Key was still injured. He’s another high-floor player who contributes.
