Titans place L’Jarius Sneed on IR

gettyimages-2237743440.jpg

In one of the least surprising news items of the day, the Tennessee Titans have placed L’Jarius Sneed on injured reserve. I know it’s only week eight, but I’d be surprised if we see Sneed in a Titans uniform again. It’s not that big of a loss.

The Titans are now without both of their starting corners from the beginning of the season. That means the Titans are going to have a big need at corner heading into the 2026 season. There is talk that Roger McCreary could be traded as well. If that happens, the Titans will need three new corners next season. I’m no roster building expert, but creating holes where there weren’t holes before doesn’t seem like the best way to go about it.

The Titans announced they promoted linebacker Joe Bachie from the practice squad to take Sneed’s place on the 53-man roster. They also signed WR Lance McCutcheon to the practice squad.

Titans news: Eddie! Eddie! Eddie!

gettyimages-1168610662.jpg

I don’t often agree with Jared Stillman, but he opened his show on 440 Sports yesterday talking about the legends of the Tennessee Titans franchise. He said that there are three true legends from the Titans era – Steve McNair, Eddie George, and Derrick Henry. That means it carries weight when one of those guys says something about the team. Now, obviously, McNair is no longer with us, and Derrick Henry is currently playing for the Baltimore Ravens, so Eddie is the only one who could do that.

  • Eddie talked to Mike Organ of The Tennessean and said that Amy Adams Strunk has set the franchise back at least a decade or maybe more with her recent decisions. I’d trust Eddie George when it comes to issues of culture. Maybe AAS can sit down with him and get his thoughts on how to best build that for the Titans.
  • Speaking of culture, there was a story earlier this week that John Harbaugh took all of the fun stuff out of the Baltimore Ravens locker room to cut down on the distractions. That prompted former Titans linebacker Keith Bulluck to share this story:
In 05 we were terrible 4-12…young kats was always playing Mario Kart or some shit in the locker room during break. One time they pause the game to play where they left off after practice!! Mannn I broke that game system to pieces! F that video game and we out here losing!😂🤷🏾‍♂️ https://t.co/h3josGDqu2

  • Do the Titans have guys on this current roster that would do something like Bulluck did in 05?
  • Roger McCreary said after practice yesterday that he has not had any talks with the team about a contract extension:
Roger Mccreary was surprised to hear his name was included in and around trade rumors

He also says that he and the team have not had any talks about an extension pic.twitter.com/246Eoua7Uv

  • The front office knows that they already have a million needs, right?
  • A funny moment from last night’s Thursday Night Football game:
Earlier in the game, Al Michaels mentioned that #Vikings K Will Reichard’s only missed FG this year was the one that hit a camera wire in London.

He now says the league told him to correct himself that it was an optical illusion.pic.twitter.com/b37MeCAF9m

  • This is a bad look for the league. People aren’t stupid. They know what they saw. Props to Al Michaels for the transparency.

Jeffery Simmons and Calvin Ridley out for Titans vs. Colts

imagn-26929239.jpg

The Tennessee Titans head to Indianapolis to play the Colts without their best player. Jeffery Simmons is out for Sunday’s game. When the Titans played the Colts in week three, Jonathan Taylor rushed for 102 yards and three touchdowns. That was with Simmons on the field. Taylor might go for 202 and four in this one.

Calvin Ridley was also ruled out. This will be his second straight game to miss with the hamstring injury he suffered in the first quarter against the Las Vegas Raiders. The biggest thing the Titans need from Ridley at this point is for him to get healthy before the NFL trade deadline.

Blake Hance and Bryce Oliver were ruled out as well. This is the sixth straight game that Oliver has missed. Just another example of the Titans not putting a guy on injured reserve when he missed four games or more.

I will update this post with the full injury report once it is available.

Here is the full injury report:

Steve Sarkisian interested in coaching the Titans

imagn-25162946.jpg

This one is a little bit out of left field for me, but Dianna Russini is reporting that Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian’s representatives have let NFL teams know that he is interested in coaching in the NFL. Russini says that interest would include the Tennessee Titans. Of course, just because Sarkisian is interested in the Titans, or any other NFL team for that matter, doesn’t mean that any of those teams would necessarily be interested in him.

I am all for the Titans talking to as many people as possible before hiring their next coach. That should include some current college coaches. Sark is not a guy that I had given much consideration to before this report. He’s obviously done a nice job at Texas, eventhough they haven’t been as good as expected this year.

The Titans are currently the only NFL job open. If Sarkisian is putting that out there now, he clearly does have some level of interest. That would have to mean that he likes Cam Ward. That’s a good sign that the Titans’ job is still going to be attractive, even with the dysfunction from ownership.

Titans fans somewhat concerned about Cam Ward’s perfomance

gettyimages-2242224369.jpg

There was a lot of talk last Sunday about whether or not it was time to be concerned about Cam Ward as the future of the Tennessee Titans. It is no secret that he has not played well the last few weeks, minus the fourth quarter against the Arizona Cardinals. If you are watching the games, you see a mix of bad blocking, bad habits from Ward, and drops.

So, I asked the question this week: how concerned are you about Ward?

Congratulations! That is a very measured and reasonable response to the question. I, too, am somewhat concerned about his performance to this point.

We also had the standard confidence question:

Are the 16% of you that are confident still riding the high of Brian Callahan being fired? That’s the only reasonable explanation that I can come with for having any confidence in the direction of this team. It will be interesting to see if the number hits single digits after the Titans get boatraced by the Indianapolis Colts tomorrow.
