News Thunder Team Notes

Kendrick Perkins' Thunder take will grab Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook's attention

After the Oklahoma City Thunder made franchise history by capturing their 61st win against the Memphis Grizzlies, they tacked on two more to extend their winning streak to 10, and it caught the eye of ESPN's Kendrick Perkins. The former Thunder center is now predicting an appearance in this year's NBA Finals and calling the 2024-25 squad Oklahoma City's greatest ahead of 2011-12, which featured Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. Perkins says this year's Thunder team is the best in franchise history before seeing what it's made of in the postseason, per ESPN's NBA Countdown.

Thunder trade proposal brings Kevin Durant back from Suns this summer

With the playoffs set to begin in a little over a week, the Oklahoma City Thunder's full, undivided attention will be devoted towards making it deep into the postseason and even winning a championship. At present, they have the best record in the NBA, a deep team with elite defenders and shooters across multiple positions, and they have all the makings of a championship team — with MVP favorite Shai Gilgeous-Alexander leading the way. The scariest part about the Thunder is that they are set up for sustainable contending success for the years to come; they have a deep treasure chest of draft picks, so they can possibly trade for any superstar player that becomes available. Thus, it is not the end of the world for OKC if they fail to win it all this year, as they can either run it back next year and compete yet again or trade for another superstar to truly take the team to the next level.

How Denver Nuggets Firing Michael Malone Affects OKC Thunder

The NBA is the second greatest soap opera of all time, only behind the Young and the Restless and right above General Hospital which is somehow still on TV. You can not go a day without the latest drama-filled storyline coming to light in the National Basketball Association, from the first shocking firing of a postseason coach to the second with a player-media beef sandwich in between. The Denver Nuggets, who just hoisted the Larry O'Brien Trophy in 2023, decided to clean house with the NBA Playoffs looming in 11 days. On Tuesday afternoon, it was reported that the Nuggets have fired head coach Michael Malone and will not bring back General Manager Calvin Booth for a complete shake-up in the Mile High City.

Thunder set new NBA record with another dominant victory vs. Lakers

The Oklahoma City Thunder are possibly composing the greatest campaign in franchise history, going from a 40-win team to a certified monster in just two year's time. OKC earns its 51st double-digit win of the season, coincidentally jumping ahead of the 1971-72 Lakers for most all-time. The Thunder are hoping their regular season dominance similarly leads to a celebratory conclusion in June.
