OKC Thunder's Championship Culture on Full Display in Summer League

Oklahoma City has followed up a historic NBA championship run with another show-stopping run in the summer. It hasn't always been pretty, but this Thunder Summer League squad has found a way to win at all costs — much like the real roster all season long.

Oklahoma City Thunder's perfect move in 2025 NBA offseason

The Oklahoma City Thunder will have a target on their back next season following their impressive title run, capturing the franchise's first Larry O'Brien trophy since 1979, when they were still the Seattle Supersonics. The Thunder really came into their own last season, topping the Western Conference with a 68-14 win-loss card, the best finish in team history. With a shiny new championship in their trophy case, the Thunder's most significant move in the offseason was locking up their core with lucrative extensions. Gilgeous-Alexander agreed to a four-year deal worth $285 million, Jalen Williams signed a five-year contract for $287 million, and Chet Holmgren consented to a five-year contract worth $250 million.

Stiles Points: Regular Season Still Important for OKC Thunder

The Calendar will soon flip to August, the quietest month in the NBA cycle, with only the eventual schedule reveal serving as a crumb of content from the league before Media Day and training camps open up at the end of September. The Oklahoma City Thunder are in unfamiliar territory entering a season as reigning champs for the first time in franchise history. Typically, the defending champs enter the following season with nothing to prove.

What a year it has been for the Oklahoma City Thunder superstar. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander turned in a historic season that can only be compared to the likes of Michael Jordan. Along the way during the 2024-25 campaign, the Thunder guard released his first signature shoe (The SHAI 001) and a bevy of colorways to go along with it.

Should OKC Thunder Guard be Deemed 'Interesting Sophomore' by ESPN?

The Oklahoma City Thunder have a championship roster, an inarguable fact after racing to an NBA Finals win over Indiana a short time ago. Selected at No. 12 in the 2024 NBA Draft, Topic was once thought of to be one of the top players in his class, but suffered a knee injury that caused his stock to plummet from the top-five to late-lottery. Now, with Summer League done, Topic's next benchmark will be officially taking the floor alongside his Thunder counterparts. ESPN recently deemed him one of the top sophomore candidates to watch next season.
