Hornets fall to OKC in Friday road match



Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 30 points and the Oklahoma City Thunder won their fifth in a row, 141-106 over the Charlotte Hornets on Friday night. Chet Holmgren added 14 points, five rebounds and three blocks for Oklahoma City, which clinched the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference for the second consecutive season when Milwaukee beat the Lakers on Thursday.

Clippers, Thunder battle in heavyweight Western clash



After a run of eight victories in nine games, that includes a win over the best team in the Eastern Conference, the revived Los Angeles Clippers will now test themselves against the best in the West. The seventh-place Clippers will match wits with the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday at Inglewood, Calif., in a duel against a team on an even better run with 12 victories in their past 13 games. While the Cavaliers had the NBA's top record when the Clippers (40-30) fashioned a 132-119 home victory on Tuesday, it is the Thunder that are on top of the league now. In fact, the Thunder (58-12) clinched the top playoff seed in the Western Conference on Thursday.

The Oklahoma City Thunder will play the Lakers soon enough, but Sunday night, they face the hottest team in Los Angeles at the Intuit Dome. Victories are stacking up late in the season for the Clippers (40-30) with the return of Kawhi Leonard. The Clippers enter the matchup with the Thunder riding a five-game winning streak. Five is also the number of consecutive wins for the Thunder.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 26 points and eight assists, Aaron Wiggins scored 19 points and the NBA-leading Oklahoma City Thunder extended their winning streak to six games by holding on to beat the Los Angeles Clippers 103-101 on Sunday night. Isaiah Hartenstein added 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Jaylin Williams scored 12 points. The Thunder won despite missing Jalen Williams (hip) and Chet Holmgren (hip), their second- and third-leading scorers, respectively.

The Oklahoma City Thunder's spot in the postseason pecking order is secure with 10 games remaining in the regular season. The Memphis Grizzlies, on the other hand, are fighting for playoff positioning. Thursday night, the teams will square off in Oklahoma City. The Grizzlies still have a shot at a top-four seed, battling with Denver and the Lakers for third in the Western Conference.

The Oklahoma City Thunder have one of the deepest rosters in the league, which is why they sit at an NBA-best 60-12 record. Despite Making History, SGA and OKC Thunder Remain Focused on Bigger Picture



Five days ago, the Oklahoma City Thunder blew out the Sacramento Kings by 16 points to reach 60 wins for the first time since the 2012-13 season. On Thursday night, it beat the Memphis Grizzlies by 21 points and set a franchise record in single-season wins. The Thunder then took down the Indiana Pacers on Saturday night to tie the 2016-17 Golden State Warriors with 48 double-digit wins, the second-most in league history. Oklahoma City is on pace to achieve the highest average point differential (+13.2) ever, passing the 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers — which also had a record 50 double-digit victories.
