News Senators Team Notes

Crookshank Returned to Belleville

Thanks for stopping by, Angus.

Less than 24 hours after being recalled as an insurance policy of sorts, Angus Crookshank has been returned to Belleville of the American Hockey League. The belief was that Crookshank was here in case Brady Tkachuk needed a day off but surprise, surprise – the Captain wanted to play.

The Senators have a well-deserved full day off today after picking up a big point yesterday in Pittsburgh. Disappointing to lose in overtime obviously but considering the situation, three outta four points is a damn good weekend.

Just ten games left in the regular season, including nine games on home ice. It starts tomorrow night against the Buffalo Sabres.

Game Day – Senators Host Sabres on Tuesday Night

Dowwwwwwn the stretch they come!

With just nine games left in the regular season, the Ottawa Senators have put themselves in a damn good spot. There’s work left to do obviously but with a seven point lead over the teams in pursuit and eight of their final nine games taking place within the friendly confines of the CTC, the stage has been set.

Now it’s up to the Senators to make the most of the opportunity. It starts on Tuesday night against the Buffalo Sabres.

As the Senators have found out on three separate occasions already this season, the Sabres are not a team you can take lightly. And even more so lately. They’ve won four of their last five games including wins over the Winnipeg Jets and the Washington Capitals along the way. They’ve scored a ridiculous 27 goals over that five game stretch.

Angus Crookshank has been recalled again and participated in the morning skate. Both Brady Tkachuk and Nick Jensen did not. Travis Green just met with the media and confirmed that Tkachuk is sitting this one out with an “upper body” injury suffered during that weird collision against Pittsburgh.

Linus Ullmark is the likely starter.

Puck drops at 7:08 PM at The Tire. The game is available on TSN5, TSN1200 and on all your favourite illegal streaming platforms. You could also head on down to the rink and cheer these guys on in person.

There’s one last thing that I need you to know and it is of critical importance…

Go. Sens. Go.

Game Day – Senators Look to Bounce Back vs. Lightning

Look, I’m scared.

There’s no other word for it really. It’s not panic. It’s not negativity. It’s none of that. It’s just the reality of wanting something so bad but having no control over whether you get that thing or not. Sit there, watch and hope for the best.

Hell of a hobby, I’ve got here.

With eight games left in the season, the opportunity is clear. This team has spent years preparing for and building towards this exact thing. And now, it’s right friggin’ there. Just take the damn thing.

The Ottawa Senators look to bounce back from an ugly effort against the Sabres when they host the high-flying Tampa Bay Lightning.

Same lineup for this one. That means Tkachuk is out again but Jensen is good to go. Nick Cousins was back on the ice in a non-contact jersey. He’s missed 25 games following knee surgery earlier in the season.

Here’s how Travis Green lined ’em up this morning.

Zetterlund-Stützle-Giroux
Perron-Cozens-Batherson
Greig-Pinto-Amadio
Highmore-Gaudette-Crookshank

Sanderson-Zub
Chabot-Jensen
Kleven-Matinpalo

Linus Ullmark gets the start in goal.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7:08 PM at the CTC. The game is available on TSN5, TSN1200 and on streaming sites all across the information super highway.

If there’s one thing I know about the Ottawa Senators, it’s that they are vibe-driven operation. A real “feel good, play good” kind of team. If you’re going to the game tonight, turn it up a notch. I’m talkin’ completely unhinged. If you’re watching at home, put on that lucky jersey. Anything lucky will do. If you’re one of them comment section lurkers, drop in with a “Go Sens Go” today. Get the vibes right and the rest should fall into place.

Go Sens Go.

Ullmark Leads Senators Over Lightning

FIVE QUICK THOUGHTS

-It wasn’t pretty but after the ugly loss to the Buffalo Sabres earlier in the week, it really didn’t have to be. Against a high-flying Tampa Bay Lightning team, the Senators were at their lock it down best, scoring the first two goals of the game and then hanging on for dear life the rest of the way. Good goaltending, win the special teams battle and then just do whatever the hell it takes in the third period. Just a massive two points against one of the best teams in the conference and in what was their biggest game of the season to date. Florida Panthers up next on Saturday and Columbus in town on Sunday.

-Kobe Bryant said it best. “What’s there to be happy about? Job’s not finished. Job finished? I don’t think so”. Now with that said, with last night’s gritty win over the Tampa Bay Lightning, they’re damn close. The Senators wake up this morning seven points clear of the New York Rangers and nine points up on the Columbus Blue Jackets. That can obviously swing in a hurry, especially with that home and home against the Blue Jackets on the horizon but the Senators have certainly put themselves in a good spot with just seven games left in the regular season. Going to spend a good portion of today just staring blankly at the standings.

-Linus friggin’ Ullmark. When the Senators made the move for Ullmark and then locked him up to a long-term deal, it was with the hope that he could turn in performances exactly like that one.. Looking back on Ullmark’s first season with the Sens, it’s fair to call it a bit of a rollercoaster. He’s had stretches where he looked like the Vezina-winning version of himself and then in large part due to injuries, there have been times when he just wasn’t at his best. What matters most though, is that he’s at his best when the team needs him most. Ottawa wasn’t at their best last night but Linus Ullmark certainly was. Ullmark stopped 31 of 32 Lightning shots, including all 11 that he faced in the third period.

-Ridly Greig’s progression this season has honestly been incredible to watch. It’s not that his game has changed in a dramatic way. From his rookie season, you could tell that Greig was gonna be one of those players that always made the right play, that you could trust in his own end of the rink and that was gonna annoy the hell out of the opposition. He’s still doing all those things only now he’s doing it for 20 minutes a night, in all situations and against the other team’s best players. Incredible for a 22-year old with just 160 games of NHL experience under his belt. That four year deal at $3.25 million a season is gonna look like a steal in a couple seasons. It already does.

-Gosh it’s nice to see the Canadian Tire Centre come alive the way it did last night. There are times when a thrilling game creates an amazing atmosphere in the rink and then there are games like last night, when it’s the crowd that just kind of sets the tone and drags the team with it. In that third period, you could feel like eight years of pent up emotion in the building and 18,000 plus just kind of willing the team to victory. That desperation in the arena was then matched by the team on the ice. It’s only gonna get louder from here.

Game Day – Senators Host Panthers on Saturday Afternoon

Ahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

The Ottawa Senators host the Florida Panthers on Saturday afternoon.

No morning skate because the game is basically in the morning. The start time also means these grown men won’t get to have their pregame nap. Rough. It doesn’t sound like Brady Tkachuk is playing this weekend so I reckon we’re rollin’ with the same lineup as the other night.

Unless……..

Game Day – Senators Host Blue Jackets on Sunday Afternoon

Ahhhh!!!!

A day after another massive Anton Forsberg-filled victory over the defending Stanley Cup Champions, YOUR Ottawa Senators are right back at it with a chance to take one more big step in the right direction.

With six games left in the season and the playoff cushion growing by the day, the path is starting to come into focus. Some of you have already walked all the way down that path but I’ll just lurk back here until the coast is clear.

They’re not there just yet but the math-loving nerds among us have crunched the hypothetical digits and if things were to break the right way, it’s possible to lock it up by Monday night.

The ol’ Twiz Table is all I need.

Tricky little back to back for both teams today. The Senators get a little more than 24 hours off and no travel while the Blue Jackets played last night and in Toronto. That’s an advantage the Senators have to take uh advantage of early on in the hockey game.

No AM skate obviously so we’ll assume same lineup for now. Yesterday’s game was a grind though so wouldn’t be surprised if Green does a bit of tinkering.

Puck drop is scheduled for 5:08 PM in Kanata. The game is available on TSN5, TSN1200 and on streaming sites for the more adventurous among us. There is another option and that’s heading down to the CeeTeeCee and watching one of the most important games played there in liiiike 8 years. Until the next one.

Wondering how these teams match up and feel like maybe it’s time to bury the hatchet with one of the best statistical tables the internet has ever known? ARE YOU NUTS?!

Game Day – Senators Visit Blue Jackets on Tuesday Night

Ahh!!

At this point, there’s really not much left to say. Mindless screaming is the best I can muster and it’s been that way for a couple weeks now. If you don’t know the situation, well that’s on you. This long but deliberate walk has reached what could be its most important step to date in Columbus, Ohio. It’s an opportunity nearly eight years in the making. No big deal though.

The Senators visit the Blue Jackets on Tuesday night.

There had been some speculation that Brady Tkachuk could make a return tonight but no such luck. While he has apparently been skating on his own, he decided to stay back in Ottawa rather than join the team on this one game road trip. Nick Cousins did make the trip and skated in a non-contact jersey.

As is tradition, no Nick Jensen at the AM skate. Same lineup as Sunday night.

Perron-Cozens-Batherson

Highmore-Gaudette-Crookshank

Anton Forsberg is expected to start.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7:08 PM in Columbus. The game is available on TSN5 and on the radio at TSN1200. Streaming options should appear in the comment section closer to game time.

X – Ottawa Senators

Ah.

To be honest, I started writing this a couple weeks ago. Risky, I know.

The closer they got, the more I realized there were some complicated feelings linked with this moment. I’d listen to people talk about the possibility and find myself getting weirdly emotional. I was driving home a week ago and the guys on 1200 were talking about what they remember from the last playoff run and I actually had to pull over.

Dramatic perhaps but I guess it was a realization that one of my favourite things in the world was just kinda gone for eight years.

I’ve done a lot of great things in my life, both personally and professionally. I have two incredible kids, I have good friends and I have met some amazing people. My job pays the bills, this website keeps me entertained and I have hobbies and things that I do in my free time that I enjoy and that challenge me.

Yet as I tumble towards the midway point of my existence on this planet, I’ve realized that there’s only one thing in this world that makes me feel like playoffs. And that’s playoffs.

God it’s good to be back.

Not done yet! Next up #StanleyCup Playoffs!

— Ottawa Senators (@Senators) April 9, 2025

The journey to this moment has been a long and complicated one. And looking back, it’s a miracle we’re all still here.

When that shot fluttered in some eight years ago now, it hurt. Hockey pain on a level I had never really experienced before. There are times when I wonder if maybe I died that night and everything since then has been some sort of dream sequence. I remember it vividly – heading home that night and thinking, I just need to get back there. I need to feel those things, the good and the bad, again.

Back in 2019, I wrote about that night…

-There must have been 15 of us. Another biggest game in franchise history and a bunch of guys got together to watch it at a friend’s place. I often agonize over where to watch playoff games, convinced that the decision I make will have an impact on the game. Game 7’s are hard enough but with a chance to go to the Stanley Cup Final on the line, this was on another level. The number of stress-beers I drank that night was the same as the number of minutes Cody Ceci played- too damn many. It ended up being one of the most devastating nights in franchise history. I still can’t watch the highlights. But oddly enough, I’ll always remember the sound in that basement when Ryan Dzingel tied the game late. I don’t really understand the noise I made but it was like 20 plus years of bottled up frustration and hope coming out all at once. My attachment to the team has evolved over the years but there was something about that 2017 team that brought out the kid in me again. That group had a soul that reminded me why I invest so much into this team. It’s those moments where you feel like you’re a part of something bigger than yourself. I want to get back there. I need to get back there.

I just had no idea how long it would take and how challenging it would be.

I underestimated how long it would take for the organization to stockpile picks and prospects and rebuild the roster back to this level. I misjudged how difficult it would be for the franchise to piece the business side back together and to put community at the centre again.

Just as importantly, I had no idea how hard it would be for the fan base to hold it together during those dark times. And how invested I would be in that personally. In the depths of it all, there were years and years of unrelenting negativity. Which, as you might imagine, can be challenging when you’ve branded yourself as the optimistic Sens blogger.

This is a hobby at the end of the day but the reality is, keeping this site afloat over the last eight years took an emotional toll. But in those low points, I kept reminding myself what it was like in the good times. The way a hockey team can bring a city together and the way the city comes alive at playoff time. And I knew I wanted SensChirp and the one-of-a-kind community we’ve built here to be around when that fog finally lifted once and for all.

In September 2019, Thomas Chabot locked into an eight year deal. It was one of the first signs that there were better days ahead. At the time, I talked about that fog…

The last couple years have been tough. In the grand scheme of things, our era of suffering has been fairly contained. Across the major sports, there are franchises that have gone through decades of pain. But what has been unique about the Sens fan experience, is the amount of disappointment we have packed into such a short period of time. But today, with one tweet from the team’s official account, with one stroke of a pen…the weight was lifted off our collective shoulders.”

When Brady Tkachuk signed his contract a few years later, it was another giant step in the right direction…

Getting to this point in the rebuild hasn’t been easy and we all coped differently along the way. Some of us turned on the team. Others turned on those that turned on the team. The real crazy ones started podcasts. But deep down, we all knew it was right. Even if the initial motivations behind the rebuild were shady, we all knew a scorched earth rebuild was probably the best course of action. It was the path that would ultimately get this team back to regularly playing in games that matter.

And now finally, they really do matter again.

At the same time, I’ve been trying to teach my two daughters about sports fandom. Not just because they’re interested and not just because the moments I spent with my Dad watching hockey stick with me decades later but because I believe it’s good for your soul to invest in something you can’t control.

But over the last seven years, I could see them both wondering, but when is the good part? It can’t just be the popcorn. When I saw my now seven-year old daughter Emma chanting “We want playoffs!” in a packed rink over the weekend, there was this look in her eyes…okay Dad, now I get it.

Emma was born June 2017. Watching her chant "We want playoffs!" for what would be the first time in her life is pretty incredible. #GoSensGo pic.twitter.com/zZ0bZgv3Ng

— SensChirp (@SensChirp) April 6, 2025

We’ve watched this team grow before our eyes.

A young kid from North Dakota viewed as a reach at the time is now one of the best defenceman in the league. A relative unknown from those obscure YouTube clips in the German league is now a star in the NHL. A gangly kid with a familiar name is now a one-of-a-kind player that drags his team into the fight and a Captain this city can be proud of. And Thomas Chabot, some 509 games later, finally gets to play in a post-season hockey game.

They all finally get their shot.

And this year in particular, we watched the team speak an identity and then become it. This is just another step and there’s work left to do. The group in there knows it. The thing is, they are just crazy enough to think they can win the whole damn thing.

It’s been a long road getting back to this point. But finally, the fog has lifted in Ottawa.

Enjoy the hell out of this, Sens fans. You deserve it.

Game Day – Playoff Bound Senators Host Canadiens

After eight years of watching meaningless regular season games, you think I’d be used to it by now.

The fact is, it is almost unthinkable to me that there are still four regular season games remaining. While some jostling is still possible in the standings and the results down the stretch will ultimately determine who the Senators play in Round One, it’s gonna be hard to focus on these remaining games. If I’m being perfectly honest, it’s hard to focus on anything that isn’t playoff hockey.

The playoff-bound Ottawa Senators play a hockey game on Friday night in the Nation’s Capital.

Lineups and ice time are going to be the story in these last four games. Brady Tkachuk is expected to skate today but there’s obviously no rush to get him back. Maybe one tuneup game at some point but hard to say.

In an ideal world, the Belleville Senators would come up play these last few but the league has rules against such things. We’ll see how Travis Green balances the rust <=> rest equation over the next couple weeks.

Here’s how they lined up at practice…

Game Day – Senators Host Flyers on Sunday Afternoon

Hello Friends.

Just three games now separate us and the Ottawa Senators from the NHL playoffs. Three games. One week. Eight year wait and I’m still not ready.

The Senators host the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday afternoon in Ottawa.

If you thought the last game was meaningless, well this one is on another level. Thanks to another Montreal loss last night, the Senators are now officially locked into that first Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference. They can still technically catch third overall in the Atlantic but that’s barely worth the trouble.

And so, the instructions for this game are the same instructions I give my kids every time they leave the house. Have fun and BE CAREFUL!

One lineup change at least ahead of this one as it sounds like Nick Cousins will make his long awaited return. Considering how long he has been out with that knee injury, he definitely needs these three games to get back up to speed. Brady Tkachuk is skating but won’t play today.

We’ll see how they arrange themselves closer to puck drop. I’d be finding a way to give both Stützle and Sanderson the day off.

Contest – Sens/Hurricanes Tickets Up for Grabs!

Okay, it turns out that staring blankly at the clock is just NOT a good way to pass the time before the start of the NHL playoffs.

So let’s do a contest instead!

With huge thanks to SensChirp regular Misaow, we have FOUR pairs of 300-level tickets to give away to the season finale against the Carolina Hurricanes on April 17th.

For three of the pairs, here’s what you need to do…

Email [email protected] with your name and you’ll be entered in the draw. Entries must be submitted by 8:00 PM today and we’ll pick three names at random on Tuesday morning.

For the last pair, we’re gonna give them to the top ranked comment on this post, as of 8:00 PM. I am keenly aware that there are all sorts of creative ways to manipulate those up votes but honestly, I am kind of excited to see what y’all come up with.

The four winners will then each receive a pair of tickets on Tuesday. Got it?

Thanks again to Misaow for offering up these tickets and GOOD LUCK!

Go Sens Go.

If the Ottawa Senators can end their drought, I should probably end mine too.

After six long months, The SensChirp Podcast makes a surprise return (for me, especially) and this time, with a special guest.

I lost the microphone, forgot to open a beer, didn’t quite hit the 20 minute mark and somehow regressed in my audio editing abilities but we’re back damn it!

Contest winners will be announced in tomorrow’s Game Day post. Thanks again to Misaow for an amazing prize!

Game Day – Senators Host Blackhawks on Tuesday Night

There is a hockey game tonight.

The Ottawa Senators are hosting the Chicago Blackhawks and as far as meaningless games go, this one is on another level. Chicago is horrendous again this year and will be all tuckered out from beating Montreal last night. Meanwhile the Senators are locked into that first Wild Card spot and may actually ask me to play tonight. Really gotta work on that sales pitch.

The Senators and Blackhawks BATTLE on Tuesday night in Ottawa.

No sign of a Game Day skate today but Travis Green did meet with the media and share a few lineup notes. Jake Sanderson, Claude Giroux and Nick Jensen are all sitting this one out to rest up for the playoffs.

We’ll have to wait until closer to puck drop to find out how they plan to align themselves.

Anton Forsberg starts

Puck drop is at 7:08 PM in The Tire. At The Tire? Around The Tire? The game is on TSN5, TSN1200 and on streaming sites for the more adventurous Sens fans among us.

Okay, now the second item on today’s agenda…THE CONTEST.

A huge thanks to everyone that participated yesterday and an ever bigger thank you to Misaow for offering up such an incredible prize. A word from the man himself…

“Thanks to everyone who participated. I had asked Chirp to remain
anonymous but here we are. It was great to interact with many of you
and hope you are all excited for the playoffs.
I will be sending the winners their tickets through the Sens ticketing
system, Ticketmaster, so expect the emails shortly.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I shall return to my regular 2-3 posts per
Chirp post.”

After careful consideration, we decided to hand out two of the pairs to comment section winners. The upvotes have spoken and the winners are…

x- The B Family

If you could both send me an email at [email protected], we can figure out how to get you your prize.

And then the two winners of the random draw, courtesy of the ol’ random wheel of names generator of doom…

Congratulations! Keep an eye on your inbox for details.

If we don’t hear back from winners by Thursday AM, we’ll spin the wheel again.

Thanks for playing along everyone!

LASTLY…

In case you missed it, here’s my interview with Sens President Cyril Leeder, where we talk about the early days of the franchise, about the role of a Team President and about the plan for playoff tickets. I think I may have asked him for a job too?

Also available on Apple Podcasts.

There were some connection issues early in the interview but thankfully I was able to salvage a couple lost moments including this Leeder quote, which may actually be the best moment in SensChirp history.

And here, where I talk about the last time I ran into Leeder at MSG back in 2012.

A huge thank you to Cyril Leeder for making the time, Ian Mendes for setting it up and to the anonymous reader that sent the email that brought it all together.

One More Sleep

At my age, memory starts to fade a little bit.

You remember the big stuff sure but the further back you look, the harder it is to piece it all together. And yet there are moments from the Battle of Ontario that are just there forever. As clear as the day they happened. Permanently tucked away in a dark corner of my brain. I’ve learned to close off that corner but every once and while, I’ll open the door just a crack and in an instant, it all comes flooding back.

A calendar will tell me that it was some 21 years ago now and yet it feels like yesterday. The main characters, the plot twists, the highs and ultimately, the devastating heartbreak. It’s all still there.

Because the fact is, those were defining years in my journey as a Sens fan. For a lot of us actually.

Bane said it best, “You think darkness is your ally. But you merely adopted the dark; I was born in it, moulded by it.”

Every time, we’d say…we’ll get ’em next year. And every time, we’d come up short. There is zero doubt in my mind that my somewhat deranged approach to hockey fandom was born in the darkness of the Battle of Ontario. And now two decades later, we finally get another shot. Another chance to slay the dragon once and for all.

Those Ottawa teams had all the talent in the world and the expectations that went along with it.

They’d cruise through the regular season unscathed but when the playoffs rolled around and things got tough, they just couldn’t find a way to get over, around or through that same blue obstacle.

That happens sometimes in hockey. A roster looks great on paper, works well in the regular season but there’s just something missing. And it’s not the kind of thing you can sign or trade for or will away. You can say it’s different but that doesn’t mean it is. There are certain collections of players that just don’t have it when the heat gets turned all the way up.

That’s just the way it is sometimes.

Fast forward 21 years and it’s the same two teams again. The same, although slightly more weathered, fans. The same two cities separated by the same 450 km.

Only this time…

See, this version of the Ottawa Senators is new to the playoffs.

After a long eight-year playoff drought, they come into this with an unmatched desperation and they finally get their chance. And it just so happens that the guy leading the way has been waiting his entire adult life for this exact moment. He was built for this.

The thing is, this roster was too. Every time I look at that Ottawa lineup, all I see are potential playoff heroes. A mix of guys that are new to the post-season but with games that are perfectly suited to playoff hockey. And that youthful enthusiasm is surrounded by smart veterans that have done it before. It’s one of the reasons the fan base was so desperate to see them find a way to get in this year. Because you all feel it too.

This team was built for this.

As heated as this series will be on the ice, the real Battle of Ontario will be fought across this city and in theirs. In our bars and in theirs. In our rink and in theirs. There will be times when they have the numbers and when their voices are louder. And there will be moments when the roles are reversed. They’ll remind you about the pain of two decades ago but in their eyes and in their souls, you’ll see a pain that’s far worse. A pressure that we don’t feel. On the outside, you’ll see confidence. But just below the surface, demons lurk.

Look, there’s no doubt that the Ottawa Senators enter this series as an underdog.

The other guys won the Division and were viewed by many as one of the top teams in the East all season long. Their talented forwards have felt playoff heartbreak over and over again but there is a belief, somewhere anyway, that this year might actually be different. The pressure is all on them to finally deliver. And there seems to be a consensus among the self-proclaimed experts that they shouldn’t have much trouble with Ottawa.

Sounds familiar.

One more sleep.

Game Day – Senators Return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs

2886 days later, we’re back.

The Ottawa Senators make their Long-awaited return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Game 1 goes tonight.

There is no doubt the Sens enter this series as the underdog. All the pressure and expectations are on the other guys and the self-proclaimed Experts all seem to agree that the Senators are in over their heads in this first round match-up.

See, the thing about that is it’s complete bullshit. When they’re At their best, this Sens team was built for this exact moment.

Their lineup is mixed with the youthful enthusiasm that comes with a young core making its playoff debut and veteran experience in the Form of guys that have done it before. Up front, there is a mix of game-breaking talent and forwards that play the game the right way. Balance throughout the forward group and on each line, there is at least one guy that can and will annoy the hell out of you. The most unhinged forward in this series is wearing a Sens jersey. The best defenceman in the series is wearing a Sens jersey. There’s only one Vezina-winning goalie in this jersey and he’s wearing a Sens jersey too.

Look, I know why the Sens are the underdogs in this Series. But I also know when the puck drops later tonight, that doesn’t mean a damn thing.

The experts have had their Say. Now it’s time for the Ottawa Senators to have theirs.

Game Day skate is scheduled for 11:30 AM so we’ll confirm the lineup then although based on what we saw at yesterday’s practice, Matthew Highmore is likely the odd man out Up front. Travis Hamonic and Dennis Gilbert are expected to be the extras on defence. Fabian Zetterlund will start on the fourth line but would not be surprised to see him take shifts on the first or second line over the course of the game and series.

Here is how Travis Green plans to line ’em up for Game 1.

Tkachuk-Stützle-Giroux
Perron-Cozens-Batherson
Greig-Pinto-Amadio
Cousins-Gaudette-Zetterlund

Sanderson-Zub
Chabot-Jensen
Kleven-Matinpalo

Linus Ullmark gets the start in goal.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7:08 PM. The game is available on CBC and Sportsnet and on the radio at TSN1200. This game is far too important to stream.

A word of advice ahead of the start of the playoffs. Enjoy the hell out of it. If there is one thing that the last eight years has taught me, it’s that this is a time of year to be celebrated and that you really shouldn’t take it for granted. Throw a jersey on, grab all the good luck charms you can find, get a car flag on your car, watch the game with your friends and yell a “Go Sens Go” at an unsuspecting stranger. You don’t watch the playoffs. You experience them.

If you’re a comment section lurker, today would be a fine day to stop by with a “Go Sens Go”. And if you’re a regular around these parts, I would love to hear how you plan to celebrate Ottawa’s return to the Stanley Cup playoffs. Kinda need good vibes only today!

Go Sens Go.

Game Day – Senators Look to Bounce Back in Game 2

Everyone has a plan, until they get punched in the mouth.

After waiting eight long years to make their return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Ottawa Senators were welcomed back in the rudest way possible. And now trailing 1-0 in the series, they need to bounce back in a hurry.

The Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs square off in Game 2 on Tuesday Night.

It wasn’t that the Sens were bad on Sunday night. In fact, for long stretches of that game, it felt like you could make the argument that they were the better team. But the thing about controlling the play at 5-on-5, is it doesn’t really matter if you can’t kill off a penalty to save your life. Questionable calls and struggling the penalty kill was the difference in Game 1.

There are a few things on Ottawa’ To Do list heading into Tuesday night but stay out of the friggin’ box and get a friggin’ save are right at the top of the list.

Game Day skate goes at 11:30 AM this morning so we’ll find out if there any lineup changes then.

Tkachuk-Stützle-Giroux
Perron-Cozens-Batherson
Greig-Pinto-Amadio
Highmore/Cousins-Gaudette-Zetterlund

Sanderson-Zub
Chabot-Jensen
Kleven-Matinpalo

Linus Ullmark gets the start in goal.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7:38 PM in Toronto. The game is available on CBC, Sportsnet and on the radio at TSN1200.
