Gary Trent Jr.'s 29 points and Brook Lopez's double-double help the Bucks top the Pelicans

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Gary Trent Jr. scored a season-high 29 points, and the Milwaukee Bucks improved their hold on fifth place in the Eastern Conference by defeating the New Orleans Pelicans 111-107 on Sunday night. Milwaukee rested Giannis Antetokounmpo after he played 43 minutes — and had 36 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists — in a 121-115 overtime victory at Miami on Saturday night. Brook Lopez had 20 points and 12 rebounds for the Bucks (44-34), who won their fourth straight, and took a full game lead on idle Detroit (43-35). Playing out the string, Pelicans and Nets unleash rookies

The New Orleans Pelicans and Brooklyn Nets have combined for 100 losses and 84 different starting lineups. While injuries derailed the Pelicans following a 49-win season, the Nets went into this season starting a rebuild. The Pelicans (21-57) are attempting to avoid the second 60-loss season in team history and first since going 18-64 in 2004-05. New Orleans also enters the game with a 12 percent chance at getting the top overall pick as the Pels sit two games in front of the Charlotte Hornets for the NBA's third-worst record.

Surging, energized Bucks host floundering Pelicans

The Milwaukee Bucks are playing some of their basketball of the season as the start of the postseason looms. The Bucks have won five games in a row as they host the New Orleans Pelicans on Thursday night. The most recent victory by the Bucks (45-34) was the most improbable. It was forward Bobby Portis' first game after serving a 25-game suspension for violating the NBA's drug policy.

MIlwaukee Bucks cruise to win over New Orleans

(LEARFIELD) – Fourth place is out of reach, but the Milwaukee Bucks have a good shot at the fifth seed from the NBA' s Eastern Conference after whipping New Orleans 136-111 in Milwaukee on Thursday. Pelicans Close Eastern Conference Slate Home Against Heat

The New Orleans Pelicans play their final games of the 2024–25 season this weekend, starting with the Miami Heat in the Smoothie King Center on Friday night. While the Heat are focused on postseason positioning, the Pelicans are looking to end a frustrating year on a high note—both for the record books and their young players. Rookie Class Keeps Impressing Despite dropping five straight and dealing with a staggering list of injuries, New Orleans continues to get strong performances from its rookies and backups. In Thursday's loss to Milwaukee, the Pelicans dressed just eight players, but six of them scored in double figures. Lester Quinones led the way with a career-high 21 points, while Keion

Pelicans Make Unfortunate History vs Heat

The New Orleans Pelicans have had a nightmare 2024-25 campaign, and Friday night's matchup against the Miami Heat was the epitome of disaster. The Pelicans, with 11 players sidelined, took a crushing defeat against the Heat at home. The Heat beat the Pelicans 153-104, led by 23 points and 12 rebounds from Bam Adebayo, 22 points on 7-10 shooting from Tyler Herro, and 21 points on 6-12 shooting from deep off the bench from Duncan Robinson. This became the most lopsided regular-season loss in Pelicans history, and Miami's 153 points are the most New Orleans has ever given up in a single game.

Pels' Green: No talks yet about return as coach

In the stands across the court during the 115-100 loss to Oklahoma City was Pelicans basketball operations chief David Griffin, who still hasn't gotten to watch the team he assembled last summer all play together under the direction of Willie Green, the coach he hired four years ago. Whether Griffin ever gets that chance is far from certain, given how losing brings about change.
