Steve Kerr's Steph Curry Injury Announcement Before Warriors-Pelicans

Coming off two consecutive losses to the Atlanta Hawks and Miami Heat, the Golden State Warriors continue their road trip by facing the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday night. Golden State's two-game losing skid can be largely credited to the absence of superstar point guard Steph Curry, who missed both contests with a pelvic contusion. Warriors head coach Steve Kerr is expecting two-time NBA MVP Steph Curry to make his return to the lineup against the Pelicans on Friday.

Warriors' Curry call up in the air as Pelicans make definitive Williamson decision

The Golden State Warriors will wait until closer to tip-off to make a decision on the status of Stephen Curry for Friday's important matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans at Smoothie King Center. The 2x MVP suffered a nasty pelvic contusion during the third-quarter of last Thursday's win over the Toronto Raptors, and has since missed the past two games due to the injury. In Curry's absence, the Warriors have lost back-to-back games against teams below .500, falling from sixth to a precarious seventh in the Western Conference standings as a result. Golden State have officially listed Curry as questionable to return, having scrimmaged on Thursday as the team looks to correct its minor form slump.

Warriors hope resilient win over Pelicans sparks needed resurgence

After three consecutive troubling performances against inferior opponents, the Warriors spent most of Friday night trending toward a fourth such act, this time against a team considerably worse than the previous three. The New Orleans Pelicans, 20-53, missing four starters and already seated on the bullet train to the NBA draft lottery, put up all the fight the Warriors could take before Golden State, finally, in the fourth quarter, responded like a team in a playoff race. The Warriors needed every bit of their 15-point fourth-quarter advantage to slip out of Smoothie King Center with a 111-95 victory that left them still searching for satisfaction.

New Orleans Pelicans sign former Mavericks big man to contract

The Dallas Mavericks are in an unusual spot this season due to NBA cap ramifications. Despite dealing with injuries for most of the second half of the year, the Mavericks have been limited in who they can add to the roster because they are hard-capped at the first apron and not allowed to exceed that number. Last month, the Mavericks waived two-way big man Kylor Kelley to open up room to sign former Los Angeles Clippers forward Kai Jones to a similar deal.

With LeBron James in question, Lakers take aim at Pelicans

With six games remaining in the regular season, the Los Angeles Lakers will look to keep their grip on home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs when they play host to the New Orleans Pelicans on Thursday. The Lakers (46-30) are in fourth place in the Western Conference but hold just a one-game lead on the Golden State Warriors after the teams played a memorable contest on Thursday. LeBron James scored 33 points for the Lakers, but Stephen Curry had 37 as the Warriors pulled off a 123-116 victory. The Lakers made 18 3-pointers, with Austin Reaves draining a career-high nine himself while adding 31 points.
