Over the weekend, Saints QB Derek Carr announced he would be retiring from the NFL.

About a month ago, it was announced that New Orleans Saints QB Derek Carr was dealing with an injury that put his 2025 availability in jeopardy. With a labral tear and rotator cuff damage, Carr made the decision to step away from the football field. The Saints made contingency plans for this situation as the team drafted Tyler Shough in the second round of the NFL Draft last month and the rookie should be the most likely candidate to start for the Saints this upcoming season. Check out what the Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills, and other NFL teams are talking about in our roundup.

Phinsider Question Of The Day: You Inherit It All Edition

NFL: OCT 06 Dolphins at Patriots

Photo by Fred Kfoury III/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images

As Miami Dolphins fans, we like to believe that we know better than the professionals. Whether it’s the coaching or the general manager, we, as a fan base, often question more moves and decisions than not. Given the results of the past couple of decades, one could argue that a fan-based democratic approach to making all the decisions for the team likely wouldn’t have yielded much worse results during that same period. But what if it all rested on just your shoulders? What if you had total control over everything and anything to do with the team, or at least the final say? What decisions would you make? What changes would you implement? How would you imprint your individuality on the team and ultimately the greater Miami/Dade County region? For many of us, lifetime fans, this would be better than winning any actual lottery.

So today's exercise/Phinsider Question of the Day is: What would you do if you were to inherit the Miami Dolphins? In this exercise, you would receive ownership of the team and everything associated with it! The stadium, the parking lots, racing, tennis, and so on, are now all yours. Since you own it all, you can also assume that you receive all the profits from the various events and, as such, you have the funds to make any changes you desire. So, where would you start? What would you change, and what would you continue from the previous regime? Besides the team itself and the roster, would you make additional changes to the stadium or any other events that surround it throughout the year?

Please give us your thoughts and answers in the comments section below-

SCHEFTER: More Teams Interested in Trading for Dolphins CB Jalen Ramsey Than Originally Thought

Miami Dolphins v Cleveland Browns

Photo by Nick Cammett/Diamond Images via Getty Images

Could a blockbuster trade for Miami’s disgruntled cornerback happen in the coming weeks? ESPN’s Adam Schefter certainly believes so.

The Miami Dolphins and All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey could be nearing a divorce in the coming weeks, and interest in the 30-year-old Super Bowl Champion could be more significant than initially thought.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports "there's more interest in Jalen Ramsey than people realize." Trade could be announced in June, potentially. Schefter notes if trade happens before, it wouldn't be processed until after June 1 for cap reasons.

— Barry Jackson (@flasportsbuzz) May 15, 2025

According to ESPN’s NFL Insider Adam Schefter, via Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, ‘there’s more interest in Jalen Ramsey than people realize.” He’d also say that any trade that transpires wouldn’t be officially processed until June 1st, which is something many Dolphins fans assumed at this point.

The reason a trade did not happen during the 2025 NFL Draft, and likely won’t happen until Post-June 1st, is because if Miami moves Ramsey before June 1st, they’d be on the hook for his full $29.2 million, resulting in a cap loss of $ 12.5M in 2025. However, Spotrac says, “If the trade is processed after 6/1, $29.2M would be split as $10.7M in 2025, $18.5M in 2026, representing a $5.9M cap savings for the upcoming season. All of this dead cap derives from previously paid out signing/roster bonus.”

I don’t know how much better this sounds when you factor in that Miami made Ramsey the highest-paid cornerback in football without seeing that type of player on the field. Sure, he was good — but the best? Those days are looooonnnnngggg gone, in my honest opinion. But that still doesn’t mean he isn’t a valuable asset to a contender.

What Teams Might Be Interested in Trading for Jalen Ramsey

The Rams have been linked to Ramsey this offseason, mainly because General Manager Les Snead and Head Coach Sean McVay can’t stop saying nice things about their former player. They have even spoken publicly about their interest in bringing him back to LA, but admitted that any trade would be complicated.

Other teams also have shown interest, according to former Miami Herald beat writer Armando Salguero, who now writes for Outkick. Salguero has reported that the Dolphins have spoken with the Los Angeles Rams, Atlanta Falcons, Detroit Lions, Washington Commanders, and Philadelphia Eagles, among others.

Maybe this is the ‘interest’ Schefter has discussed, or perhaps even more teams have inquired about the star defender. That we may never know, but what we do know is that the relationship between Ramsey and the Dolphins appears to be irreparable. And with the new team taking on a portion of his contract, the draft capital that Miami may get in return might fall short of the original trade, which sent tight end Hunter Long and a third-round pick to the Rams.

Once Ramsey is out the door, the Dolphins will likely look towards free agency to bring in a veteran cornerback that can play opposite of CB1 Kader Kohou. The team has been linked to Rasul Douglass this offseason, and many have suggested Asante Samuel Jr., as well. Whoever they decide to bring in will likely be forced into a starting role, considering Miami’s current cornerback room consists of Cam Smith, Storm Duck, Artie Burns, Kendall Sheffield, Ethan Bonner, Isaiah Johnson, Jason Maitre, and fifth-round pick Jason Marshall Jr..

Add in all the uncertainties at safety, and I am extremely pessimistic about Miami’s secondary, but as I’ve repeated time and time again, #InAnthonyWeaverWeTrust.

What are your thoughts on Adam Schefter’s most recent report, which says there’s more interest in Jalen Ramsey than people realize? Do you think this could cause a bidding war, resulting in better draft capital for Miami? Which of Miami’s young corners will take the next step in 2025? Let us know in the comments section below!

Your Next Miami Dolphins Jersey

Arizona v Kansas State

Photo by Peter G. Aiken/Getty Images

Following the draft and addition of new players to the team, I asked the following question:

From the list of newly added draftees to the team, which player’s jersey will be next on your list to add to your collection?

Below are some of your thoughts and answers-

Jptapt correctly points out that the struggle is real!

You know it’s a long way to training camp. I know you’re trying

TaurusMan71 doesn’t want the real thing, or at least one with a real player.

I don’t think I would buy a jersey, I have a couple of “jersey” t-shirts with names and numbers on the back. But if I had to choose, I would probably get a fictitious character like Ray Tinkle or Al Bundy

Dolfanjoe is correct. We already give them enough of our damn money!

Being retired now, i look for Jerseys at Flea Markets and garage sales. Actually find quite a few in GA. Bought them with tags still on them ! Others slightly worn. Never ashamed to wear my Ricky jersey or Marshal jersey game day or at the sports bar ! Have Marino and quite a few other not so big names. NFL owners make enough from TV and stadium revenue that they really don’t need my extra money !

holland182.0 is open to any possible donations.

I will happily wear any jersey you happen to buy me. I’m not picky

FinsUp88 dodged a bullet on the whole Holland thing.

Haven’t picked up a new body sleeve since Waddle (wanted to so badly with Holland and now hindsight is paying off knowing our FO )

And sadly must hold off another year, unless Grant takes 91 and can “GRANT” #92, our workhorse a solid All-Pro season he deserves after the seasons he’s put in since we picked him up from Baltimore (Sieler is the heart of this D now)

Otherwise, this guy is holding off for a Purdy-like Ewers launch (late in the year lol) to pull a trigger on a Phins jersey this year.

But the maulers we got aren’t selling jerseys, but they just might finally be the right way to win games… if we only stuck to biting kneecaps off with Campbell lol

Bill Moody might eventually spring for the big guard's jersey.

Probably None, but since I’m down to two right now (Tua - white, Waddle - orange), maybe I’ll pick up a Savaiinaea - aqua at some point. Need to see how he does first.

dedstrk316 isn’t down with the jerseys!

I don’t buy jerseys but if I did I’d get a Biggers jersey. I like the name.

Well, that proved to be one of my less popular questions, but I suspected as much. Thank you again, as always, for all of our participation in our Phinsider Question Of The Day posts.

Buffalo Bills vs Miami Dolphins

Set Number: X164637 TK1

Welcome to the Splash Zone, the quickest way to get your day started off right. We bring you a rundown of Miami Dolphins news from the last 24 hours.

The 2025 NFL schedule is out and now we can predict which games the Miami Dolphins will win or lose. Of course, they have some pretty tough games on their schedule and two of those will be against the Buffalo Bills. The Bills have owned the Dolphins the past several years and until the Dolphins prove otherwise, the AFC East belongs to the Bills. Another tough game will be in week 9 when the Dolphins have to travel to take the Baltimore Ravens on during Thursday night. A short week, into a travel day, into a tough opponent spells disaster for any team.

You can check out that story here, and the rest of the day’s round-up below.

Miami Dolphins Jersey Numbers You Want Retired

Hard Rock Stadium

I recently posted about the numbers that the Miami Dolphins organization has permanently retired, also known as never to be issued to another player, with some possibly very rare exceptions (see the Tennessee Titans-Warren Moon/Cam Ward).

The list of “officially retired Miami Dolphins jersey numbers is short-

  • #12 (Bob Griese): Retired in 1982
  • #13 (Dan Marino): Retired in 2000
  • #39 (Larry Csonka): Retired in 2002

Two other players have their numbers unofficially retired, as no one has been assigned them since their playing days with the team-

  • #54 (Zach Thomas): While not formally retired, no other player has worn this number since Thomas retired.
  • #99 (Jason Taylor): No other player has worn this number since Taylor’s departure.

I then asked the following question:

What other players, if any, should have their former jersey numbers retired by the Miami Dolphins in the future, and why?

Below are some of your thoughts and answers to the PQOTD-

DolphinsKings1 has a good list and says stop it already with the jersey number 0. I agree with all except for Drake. One amazing play should not get your number retired, but that’s only my opinion.

Well for me I wish for 0 to be retired forever because its so ****ing stupid.

The QB’s should have numbers only 1 through 19. (12 and 13 are gone Grease Lightin’ and Dan The Man).

20 - 49 should be for RB’s, CB’s, FS, and SS (39 The Zonk!) is already gone. 32, 34 and 23 are classic numbers that should be removed for their excellence during their time with us {KDrake, Ricky W and Ronnie B}).

50-59 are strictly LB’s. (54 should be in the future).

60-79 OL only. 78 R. Webb should be.

80-89 WR’s and TE’s only.

90-99 DL only. 99 should be in the future.

Francesco ITA is against it all!

I am against these kind of things, on a philosophical way ...

retired numbers, memorabilia, Hall of Fame, Circle of Honor...is all stinky underwear for fans to smell

MIAMI235 says Stephenson, someday I believe it should have already happened! There’s an argument to be made that he’s the best player the team has ever had, or at the very least the second best, and probably the best center to ever play the game at any level. Again, just my opinion, but the dude has never received his due for the absolute greatness that he actually was.

Perhaps not at this juncture. Dwight Stephenson might be a consideration one day.

21Dave wants it official already!

Make it official and retire 99 and 54 and be done with it.

Luvs2drnk2.0 believes that retired numbers should mostly mirror their enshrinement into the Football HOF.

I kind of tie retired numbers to HOF players. Of the 8 left over that haven’t been mentioned already, I would look at Dwight Stephenson and Larry Little. What’s sad is that almost half of the people associated with the Dolphins that are in the HOF got their HOF cred with other teams.

Miami7, responding to Luvs2drnk2.0, agreed with his two choices and would also like to see Paul Warfield's number 42 put aside in the future.

I agree those are the two that - if any - should be.

Though I have an affinity for MY personal favorite, the reason I became a Dolphins fan way back in 1970....#42

Jptapt wants to see Kuech get his due already!

You can’t forget Larry Little, Nick Buoniconti, Paul Warfield, because they were all great players. But for me, I would go with Bob “Kooch” Kuechenberg. An Ironman that was a great leader and the foundation of the offensive line for 14 years. He deserves the recognition even though (or because) he’s been snubbed by the HoF like 10 times. Let’s take care of our own.

JasonR1324 is a guy who agrees with me, so of course this is a yes!

54 and 99 should officially be retired.

Then 57 for Dwight Stephenson should be retired, as he was definitively the most dominant player at his position while he played, and had he not been injured could potentially have been considered the best at his position of all time.

SlayerNation1 believes that enough have already been retired and we need to just move on.

Leave it at those three and move on. There are other ways to honor accomplishments.

Retired numbers and statues are a separate category. We can’t cheapen everything.

jmworacle has a very solid list!

Jason Taylor, Larry Little, Nick Buonoconti, and Dwight Stephenson.

Well, I would like to say that those are our random comments, but that’s pretty much all of the comments from the original post. The regular season cannot get here fast enough! There were some solid answers, but like some others, I believe it’s an absolute crime that Dwight Stephenson has not had his number retired. As always, thank you to each of you who took the time to answer our PQOTD.

Colts issue an apology to Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill for ‘insensitive’ schedule release video

San Francisco 49ers v Miami Dolphins

The No Fun League Strikes Again!

The Indianapolis Colts have issued a public apology to Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill and Microsoft early Tuesday morning after the team posted what they are calling an ‘insensitive’ schedule release video.

Here’s the official statement from the Colts:::

“We removed our schedule release video because it exceeded our rights with Microsoft & included an insensitive clip involving Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill. We sincerely apologize to Microsoft and Tyreek.”

The full video in question can be found HERE, but if you’re only interested in the Dolphins/Tyreek Hill part of the video, I know a guy who pulled the clip from Instagram earlier today. :)

The Los Angeles Chargers also appeared to throw some shade at Hill.

In their release video, it appears to show Hill running a bit behind schedule, frantically running from the front of the cabin to the back deck where McDaniel and other players anxiously wait. McDaniel then hurls himself overboard, which could come to fruition if the Dolphins have a less-than-stellar start this year.

Neither video seemed to bother Hill, as his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, put out this statement earlier today regarding the Colts' decision to delete the video.

“He laughed about it and didn’t think they needed to take it down on his account,” Rosenhaus said.

Instead of the Minecraft video, the Colts decided to put out this very mid MS Paint rendition. (Still better than the Dolphins video, probably)

How this impacts future schedule releases is yet to be seen. However, for a team worth $4.8 billion, it would probably be wise to get permission from Microsoft before making a spoof of their extremely popular video game, Minecraft.

What are your thoughts on the Indianapolis Colts’ schedule release video? Do you think they should have deleted the original because of the ‘insensitive’ Tyreek Hill spot? How do you think it compares to the Dolphins’ schedule release video? Let us know in the comments section below!

Fans What If’s As Owner Of The Miami Dolphins!

Buffalo Bills v Miami Dolphins

In our long list of what-ifs, I asked the following question this past week:

So today’s exercise/Phinsider Question of the Day is: What would you do if you were to inherit the Miami Dolphins? In this exercise, you would receive ownership of the team and everything associated with it! The stadium, the parking lots, racing, tennis, and so on, are now all yours. Since you own it all, you can also assume that you receive all the profits from the various events and, as such, you have the funds to make any changes you desire. So, where would you start? What would you change, and what would you continue from the previous regime? Besides the team itself and the roster, would you make additional changes to the stadium or any other events that surround it throughout the year?

Below are some of your answers and thoughts-

MIAMI235 is going to cash out!

Sell It! ( Pocket the Billions and get a lifetime Skybox)

Spok507 has a longer list of ideas, but gave us an idea of how he would kick things off.

I wouldn’t change anything about the stadium and the other events as they seem to garner quite a bit of $$ which could be poured into the team. The salary cap would limit what I could do, but I would make it a great experience for players so marquis guys would be clamoring to come play in Miami. I agree, I’d do something about the logo. Tho the incentive for the change was probably monetary to begin with — a lot of fans with old stuff would pay to have new stuff if the logo was different. So I wouldn’t go back to the exact old, but I’d change it to make it a lot closer than the new wave logo. That would increase sales as people would buy new stuff — again — but it would also bring back some sense of nostalgia for the old guard fans who loved it like it was. Middle ground.

Then I would go on a hunt for new advisors that weren’t just ‘yes’ men (or women) and hire a staff that would take some risks but know the game from the inside. There’s a saying that not all coaches make good players, and not all players make good coaches, but I think there are a lot of former players that know the game better than some of the people who coached them and I would be hunting for those players to come and either work as advisors or coaches to get the most out of my players.

There’s a lot I could do — and not enough space to put it all down in writing — but that would be my initial plan to get the ball rolling.

finfanfromsiam would take care of the one thing the fan base has been screaming for since it was changed.

Change the logo back job 1!!!!!!!

21Dave is not wasting any time sliding right into his dream retirement.

So I inherited this team today, it would be up for sale by 3 pm, I would take my money and be done with all and any headaches of running anything related to a business. You could find me traveling with my golf clubs all over. I would keep a skybox for when I was in town. But by the time I would be back in this Devil’s Dungeon we call South Florida it would be January and we don’t play much in or after January, lol . Too hot to be in this state year round if you are rich. And that wouldn’t be rich that would be wealthy so you’re free to do whatever you want. If I could inherit over a billion dollars the last thing I would do is sit in another board meeting, zoom call or worry about owning a business and it’s ups and downs. Set up trust funds for my family and try to spend the rest before I die!!

sdphinsfan has some good ideas, but could do better with the beer deal selection.

Good question...

1. Change the logo back

2. Re-establish the culture and identity of team

3. $5 beer option (it’ll probably be a PBR but hey)

Well, another slow offseason post. If you were one of the people who missed the original post, feel free to add your what-ifs in the comment section. Thank you to each of you who took the time to answer our PQOTD!

The Miami Dolphins made it a priority this offseason to hopefully change the narrative around their football team. Since Mike McDaniel has been head coach, the Dolphins have leaned to faster, athletic players at positions. It worked for a bit, but when they meet up against physical teams it never went well. The Dolphins added plenty of players this offseason that can be described as tough or physical. Rookie RB Ollie Gordon fits that mold and the running back room finally has a big, bruising back for those short yardage situations.

You can check out that story here, and the rest of the day’s round-up below.

Christian Wilkins left the Miami Dolphins last offseason and many believed that Zach Sieler would take a step back with no Wilkins. Sieler quieted those doubts as he had another stellar season where he recorded 10 sacks for the second straight year and was a constant havoc for opposing offensive lines to deal with. He stepped up to fill the void left by Wilkins and thankfully the team decided to heavily invest in getting him some new teammates to pair with.

Tyreek Hill makes PFF’s list of best NFL players over last 25-years

NFL: Miami Dolphins at Los Angeles Rams

Gary A. Vasquez-Imagn Images

Tyreek Hill was the only Miami Dolphins player to make PFF’s quarter century team.

Earlier this month, the folks at Pro Football Focus compiled a list of the highest graded players in the National Football League over the past 25-years at each position on the football field. They called the list the “All-PFF Team: NFL’s best players of the past 25 years.”

Only one member of the Miami Dolphins during the past quarter century made the list — wide receiver Tyreek Hill.

Here’s what PFF had to say about Hill’s inclusion on the list:

“Hill is entering Year 10 of his NFL career and boasts a significant sample size of dominance, featuring the third-best PFF receiving grade for his position and several single-season records.

Hill broke Julio Jones’ PFF record for receiving grade in a season by delivering a 93.8 mark, and he also set a record in yards per route run in a season (3.72) — a title previously held by Steve Smith for 15 years (2008).”

Hill’s 93.8 PFF grade places him third among wide receivers over the past 25 years — sitting just behind Julio Jones (94.8) and Antonio Brown (94.9).

At quarterback, Tom Brady took home the honors, while Derrick Henry was named the top tailback. In addition to the three wide receivers listed above, Rob Gronkowski made the list as the top pass-catching tight end. At left tackle, Joe Thomas was honored, while at left guard, Logan Mankins made the list. The top center was Nick Mangold, while the rest of the offensive line featured Marshal Yanda at right guard and Lane Johnson at right tackle.

On defense, Aaron Donald and J.J. Watt were named as the top interior defenders, while Von Miller and Myles Garrett were honored at the edge defender position. Two linebackers were named — Patrick Willis and Ray Lewis, while at cornerback, Richard Sherman, Antoine Winfield and Darrelle Revis were listed. Rounding out the secondary group — Troy Polamalu and Ed Reed were honored.

At the two specialist positions named, Matt Prater was the top kicker while Pat McAfee was named the top punter.

Phinsider Question Of The Day: All Time Least Favorite Edition

Miami Dolphins v Dallas Cowboys

Miami Dolphins tackle Marc Colombo, aka The Turnstile. | Photo by Wesley Hitt/Getty Images

Miami Dolphins fans are, if nothing else, quite opinionated about their team and its players. As with any team at any level in any sport, all fans and fan bases tend to have their all-time favorite players. Additionally, we all have a player whom we couldn’t stand for one reason or another. The reasons we dislike a player or outright hate them range from them simply not being very good at the NFL level, to their personality, or even their off-field issues, which in some cases seem like a constant stream of self-inflicted mistakes that they never seem to learn from. Others might be those players that the NFL always seems to have its fair share of, those guys that just flat out suck as a teammate which in turn often causes issues in the lockerroom that then extend to the field of play.

So tonight’s Phinsider Question Of The Day is:

Who is your all-time least favorite player, or the player you outright hated playing for your Miami Dolphins, and why?

I expect that the answers will vary significantly, as some of us have only recently become Miami Dolphins fans over the past few years, while others have been supporters since the very first game of the franchise. Please be sure to share your thoughts and answers in the comments section below.

Frank Smith on Dolphins offense: ‘Right now we’re starting over’

Miami Dolphins Training Session

Miami Dolphins offensive coordinator Frank Smith met with the media on Wednesday to discuss the team’s preparations for 2025.

The Miami Dolphins continue to work their way through the offseason training program, with organized team activities starting next week. On Wednesday, the team gave the media a chance to speak with the coordinators, including offensive coordinator Frank Smith. As the team looks to prepare for 2025, Smith discussed putting 2024 behind them and how they can be a better offense this year.

A year after leading the league as the top offensive unit, Miami finished 18th in total offense in 2024. They were 15th in passing offense, 21st in rushing offense, and 22nd in scoring offense. The Dolphins dropped from 29.2 points per game in 2023 to just 20.3 in 2024.

I think for us right now we’re starting over and basically going back to the basics and making sure we know them inside and out to start a good season.

“I think the result of the season was disappointing for where we wanted to go,” Smith said of analyzing the offensive performance in 2024. “There’s positives littered throughout, but I think ultimately when you look at the past you really study it, look at it and use as far as each present day as your motivation. I think for us right now we’re starting over and basically going back to the basics and making sure we know them inside and out to start a good season.”

Miami’s potent offensive attack in 2023 was built on timing patterns in the passing game, with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa anticipating the moves wide receiver Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle would make as they ran their routes. The Dolphins were able to get the ball into the hands of their top offensive weapons throughout the 2023 season, but struggled with timing, precision, and route running.

Smith was asked about the route running struggles in 2024, and how he thinks the team can improve it in 2025. “I think ultimately as we had guys coming in and out of the lineup, I think that this year we’re looking to make sure we can maintain the consistency, similar things we did in 2023,” he replied. “Ultimately for us it’s making sure we get the continuity with the guys, for everyone being on the same page with our expectations for fundamentals and techniques so that way we can really use the offseason to build to get ourselves ready for the season.”

How is the team progressing in their reset for this upcoming season? “I would say right now it’s going great,” Smith stated. “Guys are really investing the time and using all of the resources they have. So far we are real pleased and we are looking forward to finishing this week and getting into OTAs.”

Smith also looks to the offseason to provide a chance to work on rotations and use depth players. “In the offseason it’s kind of realistic to how the season will go because each week there are variables with the personnel,” he explained. “So it allows guys to do things and expand what they in season maybe wouldn’t get as many reps at so they can bank it now and use it later through training camp and all that. That’s what the offseason allows us, is to work variables with different guys and see whatever we can do.”

Miami Dolphins v Cleveland Browns

Hill was a focal point of the media’s discussion with Smith, in part because Hill was not as much a focal point of the offense in 2024. The coach explained, “I think it’s a guy who is extremely motivated to get better each day and to be a positive impact on the offense and team. He’s got energy every day, he’s working through his process. He’s been great so far through the offseason.”

The 2024 season ended with Hill seeming to express a desire to leave Miami, though those comments have been walked back throughout the offseason. Asked if Hill has shown he wants to continue to play for the Dolphins, Smith answered, “Yeah, and I think so far our buy-in with the guys and everyone collectively and trying to use the way last season went as our motivation to make sure we maximize each day. You don’t look forward, you don’t look to the past; just say, what do I need to get done right now, and I think Tyreek and all of the guys are really embracing that.”

The receiver, however, is recovering from offseason surgery to repair a wrist injury, a repair that included inserting screws into this wrist in February and a second procedure earlier this month to remove them. “I don’t know if there are really timelines to everything,” Smith said of when Hill might get back on the practice field. “We just basically are making sure that we get everything one day at a time, maximize it, so when he’s ready to go, he’s ready to go.”

Miami added wide receiver Nik Westbrook-Ikhine in free agency this year, signing a third option to play behind Hill and Waddle. Of his initial impression of Westbrook-Ikhine, Smith stated, “I think ultimately it goes to who he is as a man, and you can see it’s a very detailed, very process-oriented guy. He’s going to be extremely reliable. I think ultimately if you talk to the guys that knew him in Tennessee and our exposure so far has been consistent work ethic. I think that’s ultimately where he puts himself in position to be successful is because he really is a student of the process, making sure he’s on the little things so, therefore, on Sundays he can be reliable for the quarterback and really the rest of the offense.”

I think that ultimately what we need to be is more consistent.

Smith ended his media availability discussing if the Miami offense needs to be more physical than they were in 2024. He explained, “I think that ultimately what we need to be is more consistent. That’s the thing we’re shooting for, is consistency. That’s what this time of year provides, is for us to use the time to get connected on the same page so that way our expectations through the entire play intent is then maximized through just logging in daily opportunities to make sure for the season we’re all connected on the same page and being consistent.”

Your 2025-2026 Miami Dolphins Record Predictions

NFL: DEC 29 Dolphins at Browns

Photo by Frank Jansky/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images

With the Miami Dolphins' full 2025-2026 season schedule in hand, I asked the following question:

With the Miami Dolphins’ schedule finally released, what do you predict as the team’s win-loss record and their wins and losses by week based on the schedule above?

Below is a random selection of your thoughts and answers-

GoPhinsGo has them starting out solid but struggling a bit in the middle of the season, and having a chance to make some noise down the stretch.

I think Miami could start out 5-2, and then they have 4 tough games before the Bye Week. Atlanta is much improved, so I wouldn’t overlook them.

They might come out of the bye week with 6-5 record with “potential” to win all of their remaining 6 games.

BxBruce sees the team winning somewhere around 9-10 games if everyone stays healthy.

Always impossible to predict because you have no idea about injuries but if everyone stays healthy - should beat Colts, Panthers, Browns, Falcons, Saints, Patriots twice, Jets twice and lose the rest. So 9-8. Also not beyond belief they could beat Bucs and Chargers at home. But, then, they’ll probably lose a game or two they should win so 9-8, 10-7 the neighborhood. Now, if they lose Tua for significant time, it will be far worse. Also, if they trade Ramsey and go into the season expecting Kader Kohou to cover NFL receivers, subtract 5 wins. Speaking of Ramsey, here’s an idea. Trade him to Cincy for Trey Hendrickson. Then they won’t need to cover anybody.

Alley Gator made me sad, and yet he might be correct.

7-10.

5-6 at the bye, 2-4 after.

That’s IF Tua stays healthy, otherwise we’ll have a high enough draft pick to go QB in the 2026 draft.

And it won’t be Grier picking him..

OutstandingOne has the Phins pulling in enough wins to make the playoffs.

Looks like 10 to me. dolphins are getting zero love from the national media and it seems like all of us are trying to go into this season with zero expectations since last season was so disappointing. so you know what that means, we’ll overachieve.

Mrcogburn doesn't have a lot of faith in McDaniel.

If McD trots out the same unimaginative scheme, I don’t see them much better than 9-8. They ain’t fooling nobody anymore.

MiMiami sees the normal split among the fans if things go south.

I think Miami starts the season 2-3 with wins only against NE and CAR... due to the cozy 1pm timeslot under the hot (climate change-induced) sun.

A civil war amongst fans begins at that point as to whether the team goes full on tank mode. Miami fires Grier and McDaniel after the Week 13 Loss.

Bill Moody is another who has the team with a decent record.

I got us at 10-7.

Maybe the Browns and Falcons games each flip, or maybe the Bucs and Patriots each flip, but either way, puts us at 10-7. Im sure I have some Aqua/Orange colored glasses on, so its more likely 9-8, as we may lose one of those early games in weeks 1-6 (excluding Buffalo, which I already marked as a L).

This assumes Tua doesn’t run into walls, and our O-Line (mostly) holds up.

SlayerNation1 believes the Dolphins' best-case scenario would be finishing with a sub-.500 record.

I believe WK4 MNF hosting NYJ is 7:15 kickoff, meaning it is a double MNF and MIA gets the B Team broadcast.

Thank You for posting the question. Projecting W/L at different points of the calendar is fun and harmless and can change with new information.

Maybe after TC, I can carve out 1-2 more wins to bookend the season. I am on the fence WK1 in Indy and WK18@NE, maybe NE vying for a WC.

Somehow, they will pull off beating CIN as their big win.

*I see a 4 game losing streak culminating with leaving Mike in Spain.

As much as I like Weaver, this Defensive Backfield should easily lead the NFL in DPIs, Defensive Holding and Illegal Contact. They will have trouble getting off the field and the Offense will need to average 25+.

Dolphster gave us his guess.

Just like everyone else, this is a complete guess. But I’ll play along. 8-9

Luvs2drnk2.0 has the brightest outlook of any on this list. Here’s to him being correct!!!

I’m going 12-5. Everyone seems ready to write us off, including quite a few on this very site. I get the feeling our guys are gonna be playing with a chip on their shoulder this year. All the hot seat talk, rebuild talk, and the players being “soft” talk. This isn’t a very tough schedule. I’ll even go so far as to say we take one from Buffalo this year. Obviously, injuries are the primary concern here. If our OL and DL can stay healthy, it will go a long way in helping to mitigate our weaknesses. People are concerned with our CBs. If Chubb, Chop, Phillips, and Sieler are all healthy, we will be able to get by with a weak secondary. People are concerned that teams have figured out McD’s offense. If the OL is healthy and we have improved run blocking in the interior, teams won’t be able to play us 2 and 3 deep safeties all game.

That's our random ten comments for this evening. I was surprised that not everyone expected the team to finish less than .500 or right around .500. I hope the optimistic fans are correct, but I've long since learned not to stake my emotional well-being on how this team performs. That being said, I will watch every game and root for them every game, even as I curse them from time to time! If you missed the first post HERE, please feel free to add your projected record for the upcoming season in the comment section below. Thank you to everyone who took the time to read our question of the day and give their thoughts and answers.

NFL schedule: Week 1 odds set for Dolphins at Colts

Miami Dolphins v Indianapolis Colts

The Miami Dolphins will visit the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season. Who do the oddsmakers think will win?

The offseason continues as the NFL calendar continues to march toward the 2025 regular season. The Miami Dolphins are closing in on the start of their organized team activities next week, with the mandatory minicamp coming in a couple more weeks. The team will then break before the start of training camp in July.

This week, the Dolphins made a roster move to add a fourth quarterback to the roster, announced their preseason schedule, and looked toward potential veteran cornerback additions. It has been a busy week, and there will be plenty of changes between now and Sunday, September 7, when the Dolphins kickoff against the Indianapolis Colts to start the season. Even with questions still be answered, the oddsmakers at FanDuel have released and updated Week 1 odds for the entire NFL schedule. How do they think the Dolphins at Colts game will play out?

According to the latest odds, they are giving the Colts a slight advantage in the game - but slight is the key word. The line is only half the normal homefield advantage spread, with the Colts listed at just -1.5 on the latest line. According to their stats, nearly 90 percent of the money is coming in on the Dolphins right now, with seven-in-ten bets aligning with Miami covering the spread.

The Dolphins are -120 on the moneyline for the straight-up win, with the Colts -102. The point total seems relatively low at just 45.5 points.

Will the Dolphins win the game? Will it be a close game as the 1.5-point spread seems to suggest?

Taking a look around the AFC East, the New York Jets, set to host the Pittsburgh Steelers, are three-point home underdogs; the New England Patriots are 2.5-point favorites at home against the Las Vegas Raiders; and the Buffalo Bills, hosting the Baltimore Ravens, are 1.5-point favorites.

Do you agree with these lines? Which bet do you think is the best to make? How will Week 1 play out in the AFC East? Head to the comments to let us know your thoughts.

Your All Time Least Favorite Miami Dolphins Player

Everyone has their favorite player on every one of their favorite teams. But what about your least favorite? I asked that question this past week, as it applies to our Miami Dolphins.

Who is your all-time least favorite player, or the player you outright hated playing for your Miami Dolphins, and why?

Below are some of your thoughts and answers to the PQOTD-

SlayerNation1 has a list that includes a player who is still with us and one who recently left for the New York Giants.

Holland, with perhaps some recency bias.

“\” would represent Holland’s career trajectory.

Very mouthy and opinionated compared to production and impact plays.

Olivadotti as a Coach nomination

MIAMI235 is out on the big Cornhusker!

Never cared for Suh.

Bunch of money, no true difference, with all that hype!

Dolphster jumped right over the players and went right to a head coach.

I’m going to stretch the rules of the question a little bit to include coaches. For me, it is Nick (Satan) Saban. Dishonorary Mention to Cecil Collins who had to be one of the dumbest human beings ever to play in the NFL.

twinssdfan points to the guy behind one of the bigger scandals the team has had.

Jonathon Martin was a total embarrassment to the organization.

21Dave is no fan of dandy Dan!

Ok hear me out before you bash me. My least favorite player is Dan Marino. Why?? I became a Dolphins fan when they brought in Terry Kirby a buddy of mine so I started rooting for them. Then I had a chance to play golf with a bunch of players in a golf event and Dan was in my group. The biggest complete asshole I have ever met. Such an asshole I walked over to my brother that was running the event and said, if you don’t get me out of this group the dolphins will not have a starting QB this year. We didn’t make it off the driving range and he was such a douche!! Complained about everything. Crushed ice in the machine not cubed, the driving range grass was mowed to tight, the brand of range balls, too many flags on the range to aim at. Mind you this is a very nice course that they play on the Sr. Tour still to this day. Funny part is Keith Byers says come play with me buddy and we will win. So I did and we did!! Fast forward 20 years later playing with some MLB buddies and they ask do we have room for one more Keith wants to play, have you met him before I said sure he can play and I met him long ago he won’t remember though. We get about 4-5 holes in and Keith goes … Damn it you looked familiar when I saw this morning, and it just hit me, you are the guy we played with at Broken Sound The Old course and said you were going to kick Dan’s ass . We laughed for about 5 minutes. So Dan is my least favorite. I also know of a few more stories of guys that have worked on his homes and the stories are even worse. One of them told me that Dan didn’t want the workers to make eye contact with him as he walked through the house. Douche Bag!!

Jptapt went back a bit to point out a linebacker that played for the Phins in the 80s.

What about Shula’s worst pick ever - Jackie Shipp?

darrel.owen was out on Martian and Cox!

Jonathan Martin was an absolute waste of space. Not only was he a wasted draft pick, but he embarrassed the team. I also hated Bryan Cox. He seemed like a classless dude.

HuskerPhinatic has added another vote for the leader thus far.

Gotta add Jonathan Martin to this list here. Was not all that good as a player, and a baby in the locker room.

Sdphinsfan is another with a list that includes some big-name WRs. Maybe the Dolphins should stop trading for big-name wideouts.

Mike Wallace...Brandon Marshall...Jonathan Martin...Will Fuller...and sorry in advance to some, but Bryan Cox was never a favorite. Would he make a big play sometimes...yes...would he get trucked in the run game or beat in coverage...often, but the big plays stood out more.

krammm has a take!

Dan Marino

All time leader in interceptions when he finished.

All time leader in pick sixes when he finished.

Always hung his defense out to dry by having 20 minutes time of possession per game.

Could never win the big game.

No mobility or ability to extend the play.

Couldn’t do any more with a good team than David Woodley.

That’s our ten random selections for this evening. Not surprisingly to me or probably anyone, Johnathan Martin was the most popular choice. Some others surprised me, but I expected as much, as we all have our take on things. As always, thank you to each of you who took the time to answer our PQOTD. I hope that everyone is having a good and safe holiday weekend!
