Gr8 Memories: Mr. 600

We don’t know whether this will be Alex Ovechkin’s final season as a Washington Capital or not, but there’s never a bad time to reflect back on two decades of being treated to this amazing talent. So each game day throughout the 2025-26 season, we’re going to be picking an Ovechkin moment to remember against that day’s opponent as we look back at an incredible career.

Capitals vs. Jets Recap: Caps Graze the Tower Against Jets in 4-3 Win

The last time the Caps held a ceremony for Alexander Ovechkin they got clobbered by the Ottawa Senators 1-7. Tonight the Caps held a ceremony for Ovechkin again, this time for being the only player to hit 900 goals. This time they didn’t disappoint, scraping out a win for the good guys. Plus: The Caps did allow three goals but they also only allowed 20 shots which is good stuff.

Capitals vs. Jets Game Thread 11/26/25

Fresh off a big win over the Jackets that saw their defensemen pitch in with a handful of goals, the Caps now hit the ice for their traditional pre-Thanksgiving game at Capital One – this year against the visiting Winnipeg Jets. It’ll be a Jets team with a slightly different look than usual, however, as reigning Vezina Trophy winner Connor Hellebuyck is out with a knee injury.

Capitals vs. Maple Leafs Game Thread 11/28/25

From the traditional pre-Thanksgiving game on Wednesday, we now shift to the post-Thanksgiving turkey stupor game – this year against the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs. The Leafs have been struggling of late, having won just two of their last nine (both in overtime), but they do have Auston Matthews back in the lineup and are always a tough draw. The Caps will look to make it three wins in a row…

Capitals vs. Maple Leafs Recap: Caps Claw Back to Win 4-2

What a battle from the boys in red. After getting a goal called back 20 seconds into the game that should have been counted, then going down 0-2, they fought back, stuck with their game and in regulation. Between Jakob Chychrun extending his goal streak to five games and Logan Thomson making some amazing saves, it was a win that the scouting department would be proud of. Plus: Overall the…

Capitals vs. Maple Leafs: How the Game Was Won

If the Caps had lost this game, it was an easy choice to pick The Moment it happened – how a disallowed goal 20 seconds in tanked the Caps. Thankfully the boys fashioned a third-period comeback, ripping off four straight goals after falling behind 2-0 for a 4-2 win. It wasn’t the prettiest win, as Logan Thompson had to come up big a few too many times, but the Caps showed heart to fight back from…

Capitals @ Islanders Recap: Wilson and Thompson Lead Caps to 4-1 Win on Long Island

Plus: Tom Wilson scored twice this afternoon, including once on the power play. The power play tally was encouraging not just for Wilson, but also for the Washington Capitals’ special teams as a whole. Fun fact: after his two goals today, Wilson is now on pace to score 47 goals this season. Minus: All good things must come to an end, and unfortunately today it was Jakob Chychrun’s 10-game…

Capitals @ Islanders: How the Game Was Won

The Washington Capitals traveled to Long Island yesterday in hopes of closing out November with a win against the New York Islanders. That hope was automatically in question because the Caps historically don’t play well in matinee games—their only other midday game this season was a 4-3 loss to the Canucks in October, and at one point they trailed 4-0. Today, however, everything went Washington’s…

Capitals vs. Kings Recap: Solid Defense Backs Caps 3-1 Win

The last time the Caps were in LA, they had what was probably one of their worst performances of the 2024-25 campaign in a 3-0 loss. Returning to the scene of the crime tonight, the Caps seemed determined to put memories of that last trip out west behind them and instead put together an almost identical game to the last time these two tangled back in DC a few weeks ago. They matched a very…

Capitals @ Sharks Recap: Leonard Leads Caps to 7-1 Win In San Jose

This game had “scheduled loss” for the Washington Capitals written all over it: second half of a back-to-back with travel, on the California road trip, and in a building where they don’t always play well. They were also down Justin Sourdif (injury) up front coming into the game, and then the team announced that John Carlson would also be out with injury after Fortunately for them…
