Josh Giddey joins Michael Jordan in Bulls’ historic night over the Cavs

The Chicago Bulls relied on a Michael Jordan-like performance from Josh Giddey to earn a 127-111 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers at the United Center on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old Australian notched his sixth triple-double of the season, totaling 23 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists in 34 minutes, while also adding two steals, a block, and tying his career high with five three-pointers.

Giddey’s effort carved out a unique spot in Chicago’s record books. He became the first player in franchise history to record a triple-double while hitting five or more three-pointers and joined Michael Jordan as one of only two Bulls players to record 10 or more 20-point triple-doubles.

The 23-year-old’s career total now sits at 24 triple-doubles, placing him 23rd on the NBA’s all-time list and surpassing New York Knicks legend Walt “Clyde” Frazier, while sitting just one behind Clyde Drexler. In Chicago, he ranks third on the franchise’s all-time triple-double leaderboard with 13, trailing only Michael Jordan (28) and Scottie Pippen (15).

The Bulls guard has shown remarkable consistency this season. Through the first 25 games, he became the first player in franchise history to record over 400 points, 200 rebounds, and 200 assists, boosting his averages to career highs of 20.3 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 8.9 assists per game.

He has already tallied six triple-doubles in just 24 games, one shy of the total he reached in 70 games last season, placing him alongside Nikola Jokic and Jalen Johnson among the league leaders.

After opening the season 5-0, the Bulls stumbled, winning only once in their previous nine games, but Wednesday’s triumph could signal a shift. Chicago fired 56.2% from the field, sinking 14 of 36 three-pointers, and pushed their lead to as much as 19 points in the fourth quarter.

Coby White paced the team with 25 points, while Nikola Vucevic added 20 points and nine rebounds. Seven Bulls reached double figures, with Tre Jones contributing 11 points and 11 assists, and Kevin Huerter, Zach Collins, and Isaac Okoro all making key contributions.

The Chicago Bulls are looking like things may be turning around with some wins lately, but they need to improve the roster. With players now being eligible to be traded, there are a lot of different moves the front office can decide to pull the trigger on. One potential trade package can really help their backcourt step up and give the Bulls an elite scorer. Let’s take a deeper dive into this trade proposal and discuss why Chicago should be interested in it.

In this trade proposal, the Bulls are sending guard Coby White and a 2026 first-round pick (top-10 protected) to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for guard Cam Thomas. Both players are on the final year of their current contracts and will be unrestricted free agents following this season, but this makes sense for both sides. The Bulls would add an elite scoring threat with Thomas, while the Nets continue to stock up draft capital.

This move would also allow the Bulls to sign Thomas to a multi-year contract, locking him in with this core. The Bulls are seemingly in win-now mode, and this gives them an option who can make things happen with the ball in his hands. Thomas has only played in eight games this season as he is recovering from a hamstring injury. Last season, he was able to average 24.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists while having a 43.8/34.9/88.1 shooting split.

This trade also allows Chicago to move off the decision of re-signing Coby White and getting something for him. This is essentially both teams getting rid of a problem that the other team believes they can fix with upside. It’s not the blockbuster deal that will immediately put the Bulls in championship contention. However, this is a deal that sets the foundation for the future. Pairing Thomas with Josh Giddey as a starting backcourt would make the opposing defense struggle to decide who to defend.

A lineup including Giddey, Thomas, Isaac Okoro, Matas Buzelis, and Nikola Vucevic could work, and it would really help Thomas develop into a more-rounded player. Chicago would also have a younger player who can be a more consistent offensive threat. It will be intriguing to see if the Bulls are interested in this trade proposal.

Chicago Bulls add former All-NBA player in this trade proposal

In the trade proposal from Clutch Sports, the Bulls would make a deal with the New Orleans Pelicans. The Bulls would receive Herb Jones and DeAndre Jordan in exchange for Kevin Huerter, 2026 first-round pick (via Portland Trail Blazers), 2028 first-round pick (top-14 protected), and second-round picks. This would be a lot to give up and basically a salary dump in Jordan, but this trade could really help the Bulls while giving the Pelicans an expiring contract and draft capital.

Why this trade makes sense for the Bulls​

You may look at the trade proposal and believe it is a massive overpay for Chicago. However, this trade would guarantee Jones under contract through the 2028-29 season, when he has a $24.1 million player option. This move cannot happen until Jan. 16 due to the contract situation as well. This would significantly improve the defense for the Bulls, who are currently 25th in the league with 122.0 points per game allowed. Losing Kevin Huerter would be difficult as he has been a strong rotational piece, but adding Jones would benefit the team.

Trading away multiple first-round picks could be difficult, but this gives Chicago its all-in approach. They own all their first-round picks currently, so this trade isn’t something that ruins the future either. This is more of believing in Jones to help the defense rather than pushing all the chips into the center of the table.

Jordan could be a bench piece in case of injury. It also helps if the team decides to trade Nikola Vucevic as well and wants to develop a younger center. Jordan has an amazing amount of experience and could be a player-coach for the young big men in Chicago. He can also be a different look to an undersized center in Zach Collins or Jalen Smith. This trade has some benefits, and while it makes the future a little more murky, it helps create a tough core to compete against for the next few years.

“He shoots the gap, he’s there”: Billy Donovan praises Tre Jones “disruptive” presence in Bulls win over Cavs

On Wednesday, the Chicago Bulls picked up a much-needed 127-111 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on a night that put Josh Giddey in rare company alongside Michael Jordan. Giddey delivered his sixth career triple-double with 23 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists, but he was not the only Bull to earn praise.

After the game, head coach Billy Donovan singled out Tre Jones, applauding his impact as a “disruptive” force, especially on the defensive end where his activity and timely steals helped shift momentum.

The win moves the Bulls to 11-15. They travel back to Cleveland on Thursday for the rubber match, then visit the Atlanta Hawks on December 23, before returning home to face the Philadelphia 76ers on December 26.

Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley posted an article about one trade each team would make if the NBA Trade Deadline was today. He suggests the Bulls make a trade with the Timberwolves where Coby White is sent to Minnesota for Rob Dillingham, Joan Beringer, and Leonard Miller. Below is his explanation of the trade:

“While the Timberwolves having ‘targeted’ White, per Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times, the Bulls should be hearing opportunity’s knock. This deal would not only allow them to add to their undermanned young core, it would also get them out of having to figure out White’s tricky worth in unrestricted free agency this coming summer. White is, to be clear, infinitely more productive than the entire trio coming back to Chicago in this trade, but the Bulls should finally start valuing tomorrow over today.

“Dillingham could benefit from being in a less pressure-packed developmental environment than Minnesota, Beringer has the kind of bounce Chicago lacks around the basket and Miller is still young enough (22) for a rebuilder to consider him a tools-y curiosity.”

Does this trade make sense for the Chicago Bulls?​

In a nutshell, this trade makes perfect sense for Chicago. White is a player that the team can get something for, rather than him leaving as a free agent and getting nothing. The Bulls are going nowhere fast right now with White, so they should be focusing on their future. Buckley said it correctly that it is time for the front office to worry about the future rather than the present.

This trade may not be the ideal trade, but it is a trade that gives the team controllable contracts and young talent to continue developing on their roster. Expect the front office to value a first-round pick more than some additional players, but this is definitely a good framework for a trade between these teams.

Chicago Bulls win ugly as Billy Donovan admits defensive woes are real

The Chicago Bulls outlasted the Atlanta Hawks 152-150 on Sunday in the highest-scoring game of the NBA season, totaling 302 points. While the win counted the same in the standings, it did little to please head coach Billy Donovan. After the game, Donovan spoke candidly about the defensive breakdowns that allowed 150 points, offering a blunt assessment of his team’s performance, according to John Hollinger of The Athletic.

“Look, we’re not a great defensive team,” the Bulls head coach remarked.

The Bulls surrendered 73 points before halftime and had no answers defensively in the paint or in transition. Atlanta took advantage with 66 points at the rim, 26 on the break, and 57 from its bench.

Even with the Chicago Bulls shooting better than 60 percent in the first half, Atlanta stayed right with them by hitting 55.6 percent from the field and nearly 50 percent from beyond the arc.

The Bulls defensive woes continue​

Chicago spread the scoring around, with nine players reaching double figures. Matas Buzelis paced the group with 28 points, while Coby White added 21 after getting cleared despite an ankle issue. Josh Giddey chipped in 19, Kevin Huerter scored 16, and Isaac Okoro finished with 14. Ayo Dosunmu and Nikola Vucevic each posted 13, Tre Jones contributed 11, and Zach Collins rounded it out with 10.

Jalen Johnson and Trae Young carried the Hawks’ offense, combining for 71 points with 36 from Johnson and 35 from Young.

Anyone watching closely can see that defense is not Chicago’s strength. The Bulls have had issues protecting the rim, securing rebounds, and maintaining consistency on that end of the floor. Opponents regularly exploit the paint, as the Hawks did, and Chicago often struggles to shrink driving lanes. That combination leads to easy looks inside and extra trips to the free throw line.

The Bulls also allowed too many second chance opportunities, which quickly turned into problems in transition. While Tre Jones and Isaac Okoro help shore up the defense at times, the overall effort on that end has remained uneven.

“It was crazy”: Matas Buzelis in awe as Bulls and Hawks combined for 302 points

Points flew like fireworks in a high-scoring display as the Chicago Bulls and Atlanta Hawks combined for 302 on Sunday, with the Bulls edging out a 152-150 win. The victory gave Chicago their third straight and brought their record to 13-15. The two teams will face off again in Atlanta on Tuesday. Following that, the Bulls visit the Philadelphia 76ers on Dec. 26, take on the Minnesota Timberwolves on the 28th, and wrap up the year against the New Orleans Pelicans on the 31st.

Onyeka Okongwu led Atlanta with 23 points, while Vit Krejci contributed 20. Trae Young made his second start in three games after missing 21 contests with a right MCL sprain.

Some of the highest-scoring games in NBA history include:

On Dec. 13, 1983, the Detroit Pistons beat the Denver Nuggets 186-184 in overtime, combining for 370 points. On Nov. 2, 1990, the Golden State Warriors defeated the Denver Nuggets 162-158, totaling 320 points.

Ironically, on March 1, 1990, the Bulls overcame the Hawks 168-161 in four overtimes for 329 points. More recently, on Feb. 24, 2023, the Sacramento Kings edged the LA Clippers 176-175 in double overtime, combining for 351 points.

Chicago Bulls struggle to keep pace, facing brutal stretch of games

The Chicago Bulls’ promising 6-1 start quickly unraveled, and the team has plunged into a full free fall, dropping 13 of their last 16 games to sit at 9-14.

The Bulls can certainly play an entertaining, up-tempo style as one of the league’s fastest teams, yet their scoring punch simply does not hold up. Even with that pace, they lack the shot creation and overall firepower needed to function as a top-tier offense, and at this point they are struggling to even look like a consistently average one.

Things look even rougher on defense. The Bulls simply lack the personnel to hold their ground, especially with Nikola Vucevic serving as their primary rim protector. While he provides useful spacing on offense, he does not anchor the paint well enough for Chicago to form a reliable defensive identity.

The Bulls path only grows tougher from here, as a string of legitimate contenders waits for the Bulls before the calendar flips, putting even more pressure on a group already struggling to keep pace.

“It’s not going great for the Bulls. They have Charlotte and New Orleans in their next two games. After that, they have the Cavs, twice, Atlanta twice, Philadelphia, Milwaukee, Minnesota, then they end the year at home against New Orleans. Their season might be over too,” Tim Bontemps remarked in his appearance on the Hoop Collective podcast.

“We’re not just gifted to walk in there”: Billy Donovan didn’t mince words amid Bulls slide

The Chicago Bulls seemed to be on the rise early in the season, starting 6-1 and appearing poised to contend in the Eastern Conference. However, consecutive losing streaks of five and seven games have dropped the team to 9-14, losing 13 of their last 16 contests and making a playoff spot increasingly unlikely. Head coach Billy Donovan did not mince words during his recent press conference.

According to Joel Lorenzi of The Athletic, Donovan delivered a pointed message to the team on Wednesday.

“People wanna sit there and say, ‘Well, you lost to New Orleans. They got a bad a record.’ Indiana, bad record. I don’t think we’re any different from those teams. We’re not just gifted to walk in there (and) if we show up, we’ll win games. … I do not view it that way at all when I watch tape,” said the Bulls head coach.

Donovan’s likening of the Bulls to teams like the New Orleans Pelicans and Indiana Pacers may sound severe, but it accurately reflects their current struggles. Chicago has played inconsistently, and it’s evident the team is closer in performance to the Pacers than to the sixth-place Philadelphia 76ers.

The Bulls head coach acknowledged that the team simply lacks the talent to consistently beat lower-ranked opponents.

Chicago’s struggles can largely be traced to injuries. Key players such as Coby White have battled nagging issues all season, Josh Giddey has missed games, and Isaac Okoro, Jalen Smith, Zach Collins and Tre Jones have all spent time sidelined. Missing these important contributors has played a major role in the Bulls’ difficulty securing wins.

Donovan, however, is not pointing to injuries as the main cause of the Bulls’ struggles. He believes the losses are coming down to the small mistakes and breakdowns in execution that have piled up over time.

If the Bulls hope to compete again, they need to fix these small but critical issues. Chicago ranks near the bottom of the league in several key areas: 24th in net rating, 25th in opponent offensive rebounds per game, 26th in opponent second-chance points, 27th in opponent points in the paint, and 27th in turnovers forced. These are the stats typical of struggling teams.

REPORT: Giannis Antetokounmpo had interest in Chicago Bulls

The big NBA news right now centers on Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo and the reports that he wants to be traded this season. With Antetokounmpo getting hurt, he has put a little wrench into things for now.

As teams potentially inquire about landing Antetokounmpo in a trade, one report out of Chicago suggests that the star potentially wanted to come to Chicago at one point.

FOX Chicago’s Lou Canellis, put out a bombshell on Thursday that has Bulls fans likely shaking their heads. Canellis is very plugged into the Chicago Sports scene and, while not a reporter, maintains a relationship with Antetokounmpo.

Canellis appeared on 670 The Score’s Mully & Haugh show Thursday morning to discuss Antetokounmpo. It was there that he reported Antetokounmpo reached out to the Bulls about a potential deal. The snag? The Bulls weren’t interested.

“Giannis and his representatives reached out to the Bulls about a potential deal, and the Bulls said they weren’t interested. They were not interested in breaking up their young core or changing their course of direction.”

WHAT.

Look, Canellis will probably admit he’s not an insider but we did mention he has connections in the city. IF this is true, it makes no sense from the Bulls’ side of things.

The other thing to note is that this isn’t the first time reporters have said the Bulls don’t want to break up their core. There was a report that they wouldn’t do that with Anthony Davis, either. But Giannis? That feels like a no-brainer to go all in and get a superstar.

Giannis is on a three-year deal worth $175M. He will earn $54M this season, $58M next season, and $62M next season. So the salary hits are tough. But for a franchise that is struggling in another rebuild, you almost have to take that chance.

The ship appears to have sailed now for the Bulls. But the rest of the NBA are in wait and see mode.

Ahead of Wednesday’s game against Brooklyn, head coach Billy Donovan told reporters that rookie Noa Essengue will miss the entire rest of the 2025-26 season. He underwent shoulder surgery that will now end his rookie year early.

The No. 12 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft played in just two games for the Bulls this season. They attempted to bring him along slowly and he spent most of his time in the G League.

In four G League appearances, Essengue averaged 23 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1 steal and 1.3 three-pointers per game this season there.

Chicago was criticized for passing on Derik Queen who went No. 13 to the New Orleans Pelicans as they offered an unprotected first round pick in 2026 to land Queen. The talented rookie is averaging 12.3 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game this season for the Pelicans.

The rumors have swirled because the Bulls have a glaring need down low and have the assets to make this sort of move. They’re also a little more flexible financially, making it a feasible addition as the Dallas Mavericks flounder. Now, according to a new report, it looks like the Bulls themselves have weighed this option.

“The Bulls have had internal discussions about how to proceed, including conversations about Dallas Mavericks star Anthony Davis, sources told ESPN, whom they believe could help the team’s porous rim protection and defensive interior,” ESPN’s Jamal Collier wrote. Davis is from Chicago, which always makes the connection a little stronger. The Bulls also have three locals (Ayo Dosunmu, Jevon Carter, and Matas Buzelis), so it’s clear that the team likes players from the area.

“However, team sources said the Bulls will not sacrifice any of their young core to execute such a deal until the team is closer to contention,” Collier reported. “I don’t think going out and chasing X megastar is the way to proceed — at least today,” one source revealed to ESPN. Coby White, the longest-tenured Bull and the most likely player to be dealt in a move like this, said that building a culture takes time, and it seems now that the Bulls agree.

Adding Davis would be huge. It would change the trajectory of this franchise, but at what cost? Davis is often injured, and he’s much older than the current core. How long would he fit beside a young trio of Matas Buzelis, Josh Giddey, and Noa Essengue? Plus, the draft capital will likely be crucial to Chicago’s future as well. For now, it doesn’t seem worth it, but the Bulls at least looked into it.

Bulls fans furious with Billy Donovan’s strategy on Matas Buzelis

Matas Buzelis opened the season on a strong note for Billy Donovan and the Chicago Bulls. He delivered two games with more than 20 points in his first four outings, enough for NBA analyst Bill Simmons to project a major step forward in his second year.

Since then, Buzelis has continued to look like a rising young piece, starting every game for Chicago and raising his production across the board. He is averaging 13.8 points and 5.5 rebounds while knocking down 36.8 percent of his three pointers, all clear gains from his rookie campaign.

Bulls fans are hoping the 21-year-old grows into a long-term pillar for the franchise, but the past few weeks have highlighted a growing push-and-pull between his growth and the team’s need to win now. Donovan seems to be leaning in another direction since Buzelis logged only 21 minutes in the matchup with the New Orleans Pelicans.

After starting the first half of Chicago’s 130 – 143 defeat, Buzelis was pulled for the entire second half while Donovan shifted to Jalen Smith. Donovan later said the switch was driven by a need for stronger rebounding.

However, the decision frustrated many Bulls fans who feel Donovan should keep Buzelis on the floor and invest in his growth rather than focus on short-term concerns.

The Bulls sit at 9-8 and currently hold a play-in spot, but they aren’t operating like a team built to win right now. That makes Donovan’s approach even more confusing.

Chicago needs to give young players like Buzelis real opportunities so the franchise can build toward a stronger future instead of chasing small regular-season gains at the expense of long-term progress.

Atlanta Hawks 161 – 168 Chicago Bulls​

The highest points tally that the Bulls have achieved in a victory came in Atlanta on March 1st, 2019, as they romped to a 168 to 161 victory.

Despite the Hawks’ Trae Young hitting a career-high 49 points, the Bulls managed to overcome the home team thanks to Zach LaVine’s 47 points, another career-high, and Lauri Markkanen’s three free throws. Markkanen’s 17 rebounds and 31 points alongside LaVine’s scoring were enough to see off a resilient Atlanta Hawks.

This incredible score-line after the fourth overtime resulted in a combined 329 points, only beaten by the 1983 record held by the Pistons and the Nuggets of 370, and the Bucks and the Spurs total of 337.

Portland Trail Blazers 155 – 156 Chicago Bulls​

The next highest scoring victory for the Bulls was also in an away fixture against the Portland Trail Blazers on March 16th, 1984. This game was much tighter, with the Bulls winning by a single point.

One key factor that kept the Trail Blazers in the game was Jim Paxson’s performance, finishing as the game’s top scorer on 41 points. However, the Bulls’ Greenwood’s 12 rebounds and Whatley’s 13 assists led the way respectively, while Quintin Dailey’s 33 points, Dave Greenwood’s 26, and Orlando Woolridge’s 21 were all instrumental in getting the Bulls their win.

Chicago Bulls 155 – 127 Phoenix Suns​

December 4th, 1990, saw the Bulls enjoy a resounding victory against the Phoenix Suns in front of a home crowd. A familiar scene that would be seen through the ’90s saw Michael Jordan as one of the top performers, scoring 27 points, with Grant securing 12 rebounds and Pippen getting 11 assists.

A trend that the Bulls perform better during the colder months, with the two record point tallies coming in March and the third in December, is matched by another trend of high-scoring home victories against the Phoenix Suns.

On January 8th, 1970, another cold month, the Bulls romped to another impressive victory over the Phoenix Suns. The Bulls had the game’s three top performers in Love, who scored 34 points, Boerwinkle with 37 rebounds, and Haskins with 13 assists.

Milwaukee Bucks 135 – 151 Chicago Bulls​

April 14th, 2008, saw the Chicago Bulls enjoy a fruitful trip to Milwaukee, beating the Bucks by 151 to 135. A weak defensive performance from the Bucks allowed Luol Deng to net 32 points, with Ben Gordon not far behind on 29. Chris Duhon was also on form, registering 15 assists and 22 points.

Some fans might have expected more Jordan-related action among the top-scoring Bulls wins, but it is worth remembering that he played during a golden generation where most games were hard-fought.

Bulls’ Coby White Calls Out Giannis Antetokounmpo After Disrespectful Action

The Chicago Bulls came up short against the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday night, falling to the Central Division rival by a final score of 112-103.

While the game was a disappointment all the way around for the Bulls, it ended with quite a bit of drama. Giannis Antetokoumpo, the Bucks’ superstar forward, decided to dunk the ball with the lead and just 1.9 seconds left.

Of course, as most fans know, there is an unwritten rule that teams who are leading with the game out of reach do not try to score in that kind of a scenario. Chicago was clearly upset with Antetokounmpo for the disrespectful action and many players confronted him on the court.

Following the game, Bulls’ guard Coby White spoke out strongly about the incident.

“He shouldn’t have dunked the ball,” White said. “It’s disrespectful to the game. I said, ‘Bro, you’re better than that.’ The game is over with. Why you gotta do that? It’s a respect thing.”

Antetokounmpo put together a dominant performance against Chicago. He scored 29 points on 10-for-15 shooting to go along with eight rebounds in the win. Ryan Rollins scored 20 points for Milwaukee, while Bobby Portis chipped in with 17.

For the Bulls, White and Nikola Vucevic both scored 16 points to lead the way. Josh Giddey added 13 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds in the loss.

Chicago now sits at 15-16 on the season. It hasn’t been the kind of year that the Bulls were hoping for, but there is still time to turn things around. At the very least, Chicago has been very competitive all season long.

Next up for the Bulls will be a Monday evening matchup at home against Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves. Hopefully, Chicago can take out some of their frustration with Antetokounmpo on the Timberwolves.

Giddey had displayed potential to become an elite player, but without a long-term deal, the $100 million commitment could have backfired. After 14 games, he leads the Bulls in points, assists, and minutes, guiding the team to an 8-6 record.

The Bulls traded Alex Caruso to the Oklahoma City Thunder to acquire Giddey. Caruso had delivered steady contributions last season; while his scoring was modest, he was a versatile player who impacted every aspect of the game especially in defense, and consistently filled the stat sheet.

Chicago’s record didn’t change much, hovering around .500 as it has for much of previous seasons. Still, Giddey showed enough potential that the Bulls had a decision to make as a restricted free agent. He was among the last players to sign a deal this offseason, and while many initially questioned the price, it now looks like a bargain for the franchise.

At $25 million per year, Giddey is earning the same as players such as Anfernee Simons, Christian Braun, Naz Reid, and Draymond Green. Bulls guard likely to attract trade offers

The Chicago Bulls continue to win in unconventional fashion. Against Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets, their bench completely dominated, outscoring Denver’s second unit 66–9.

The Bulls achieved this despite losing key players who usually drive their bench production. Coby White missed the second game of a back-to-back while continuing his recovery from an offseason calf strain. Normally a starter, White came off the bench in Chicago’s prior loss to the Utah Jazz and still poured in 27 points and dished out eight assists in his season debut.

Tre Jones missed the Bulls’ matchup against Utah as well. With White out, Jones stepped into the starting lineup for every game this season, a role he likely would not have held if White had been healthy. He has made the most of the opportunity, averaging 13.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 2.1 steals while anchoring Chicago’s starting unit.

Jones, who inked a three-year, $24 million deal this offseason, will be eligible for a trade starting December 15. With his strong production while earning only $8 million annually, he is likely to attract attention from several teams looking for a reliable point guard.

Consider the Milwaukee Bucks, Atlanta Hawks, Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets, and Minnesota Timberwolves. At least three of these squads could be viewed as contenders, each with uncertainty at the point guard spot.

The Bucks need more point guard depth for their lineup. The Hawks rely heavily on Trae Young but do not have a solid backup true point guard. Meanwhile, the Mavericks, Rockets, and Timberwolves have all experimented with lineups lacking a traditional point guard this season.

Trading Jones probably isn’t a top priority for the Bulls, but it will almost certainly be discussed. His salary and production give no reason to move him. However, if Chicago can acquire a player who better fits their needs, such as a perimeter stopper or interior defender, Jones could be the player they are willing to trade.

The Bulls appear to value Ayo Dosunmu and Coby White more highly than Jones. Jones has been a steady contributor, but he lacks Dosunmu’s scoring ability and defensive range, and he falls short of White’s offensive output. Because of this, Jones could be the player the Bulls consider moving to streamline their deep guard rotation.

Josh Giddey ranks 14th in the Eastern Conference first fan returns for the 2026 NBA All-Star Game​

The first round of fan voting for the 2026 NBA All-Star Game has been announced. The typical superstars are among the top vote-getters, but there are some surprises. However, in 14th place of the Eastern Conference and 29th overall is Chicago guard Josh Giddey. He has been one of the top players in the league as he is currently 14th in the sport in rebounding and third in passing. Giddey currently is averaging 19.5 points, 9.1 rebounds, 9.2 assists, and 1.0 steals on 47.0/39.0/75.5 shooting splits over his 29 games played.

The fan voting equates for 50% of the vote, with the NBA players and media panel each getting 25% of the vote to decide the All-Star starters. The next voting results will be released on Jan. 6.

Giddey left Monday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves with a left hamstring injury. At the time of this writing, we do not know the extent of it. This could make him drop in the rankings if he winds up missing an extended period of time. It will be intriguing to see what happens with Giddey’s injury. It can affect his ability to make the 2026 NBA All-Star Game if he misses significant time.
