Browns DE Myles Garrett has more sacks than multiple teams, has other amazing 2025 stats

imagn-27606645.jpg

One of the best things about football is how each player impacts the others. A great cornerback can make the safety’s job that much easier. A great run-stopping defensive tackle leads to better play from the linebacker behind him. A stud quarterback can lift the performance of the offensive line, running back, and pass catchers.

For the Cleveland Browns, DE Myles Garrett is the tide that lifts all ships, the straw that stirs the drink, and the peerless defender in all of the NFL. This century, Garrett and Joe Thomas are 1 and 1a among the best Browns, but the current star is gaining on many within the organization’s total history and could be considered in the same tier as Jim Brown, Otto Graham, Clay Matthews, Dick Schafrath, Gene Hickerson and Leroy Kelly.

According to Pro Football Reference’s Approximate Value, Garrett is sixth on Cleveland’s all-time list, with Thomas just in front of him. Given Garrett’s 2025 pace, his spot will move up quickly, especially with another Defensive Player of the Year award and if he breaks the all-time sack record.

So far this year, Garrett has more sacks by himself than three other teams:

Myles Garrett has more sacks by himself (18) than three teams through 12 weeks (Carolina Panthers, Bengals, 49ers).

This hilarious stat has been making its rounds on social media and highlights just how dominant Garrett has been recently:

2) Myles Garrett in the last 4 games: 13
3) Brian Burns: 13 https://t.co/mQQugKN9vu pic.twitter.com/gWodo1qjnA

— Ari Meirov (@MySportsUpdate) November 24, 2025

In a communique from the NFL to the media, we learned of even more ways Garrett’s season and career are special.

Garrett has 75 career games with a sack since entering the NFL in 2017 and is the fourth player since 1982, when the individual sack became an official statistic, with at least 75 games with a sack in his first nine career seasons, joining Pro Football Hall of Famers DeMarcus Ware (79 games) and Reggie White (79), as well as Von Miller (77).

Garrett has 18 sacks this season, surpassing Mark Gastineau (17.5 sacks) for the second-most sacks in a player’s first 11 games of a season since 1982, when the individual sack became an official statistic, trailing only Pro Football Hall of Famer Reggie White (19).

Garrett, who has 18 sacks this season and had 16 sacks in 2021 and 2022, is the third player since 1982, when the individual sack became an official statistic, with at least 16 sacks in three career seasons, joining J.J. Watt (four seasons) and Pro Football Hall of Famer Reggie White (four).

Garrett has 26 tackles for loss this season, the most by a player in his team’s first 11 games of a season since 2000, surpassing Von Miller (24 tackles for loss in 2012 with Denver) and J.J. Watt (24 in 2012 with Houston).

With the Browns still figuring things out on offense, Garrett’s performance will need to continue to be next-level in order for the team to win more games down the stretch. More wins will help Garrett’s season feel more special and get the recognition it deserves. If miracles happen and Cleveland wins out to finish with a winning record, Defensive Player of the Year should only be the first award Garrett brings home. At that point, we should hear “The Most Valuable Player in the NFL for the 2025 season is Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett!

The Browns have been an infrequent guest at Thanksgiving Day games

gettyimages-515384598.jpg

The Cleveland Browns will be going through a standard practice today while the NFL world is focused on a trio of Thanksgiving Day games.

While NFL officials and their television partners have to be kicking themselves after not having the foresight to schedule the Browns and legendary rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders for one of today’s games, the Browns have rarely played on the holiday.

Cleveland has only played six times on Thanksgiving, with three of those coming in the 1940s. The last time the nation was treated to a Browns game on the holiday came back in 1989, when they faced the Detroit Lions for what was another in a long string of road defeats to the Lions.

The Browns do not have the longest streak without playing a game on Thanksgiving as the Los Angeles Rams have not played on the holiday since a 20-0 victory over the Detroit Lions in 1975. And the Jacksonville Jaguars hold the distinction of being the only current NFL team to have never played on Thanksgiving.

Even with an infrequent history of Thanksgiving Day games, the Browns share a connection with one of the day’s traditions as they faced the Dallas Cowboys in 1966 for the first of what would turn into an annual appearance (save for 1975 and 1977) by the Cowboys.

Tex Schramm, who was general manager in Dallas at the time, thought that playing on the holiday would prove popular with the local fans. The NFL scheduled the Browns and Cowboys at the Cotton Bowl, and a reported attendance of 80,259 saw the Browns come out on the wrong end of a 26-14 final score.

Cleveland had beaten the Cowboys a month earlier, but fate and the windy conditions were not on their side this time. Lou Groza missed two field goals, had another blocked, and the Browns were shut out in the second half. That allowed Dallas quarterback Don Meredith time to lead the Cowboys on three scoring drives to secure the win.

The Browns had 321 yards of offense on the day, led by running back Leroy Kelly’s 115 rushing yards, but quarterback Frank Ryan was sacked five times as the Browns could not find the end zone in the second half.

It was 16 years before the Browns played another Thanksgiving Day game, with a return to Dallas to take on the Cowboys in the strike-shortened season of 1982, which ended in a 31-14 loss for the Browns.

Browns, 49ers report: Christian McCaffrey, Browns RB sit out Thanksgiving practice

gettyimages-2240626521.jpg

Neither the Cleveland Browns or San Francisco 49ers had practice availability for the media on Thanksgiving Day but updated their injury reports from their second practice of Week 13. The Niners are trying to keep pace in a rugged NFC where 10 teams currently have .500 records or better.

The Browns are holding on to their 1%, and 8% if they win out, chance of making the playoffs in the AFC. The 2026 NFL draft order remains front and center for Sunday’s home team and its fans.

Cleveland is hoping the schedule and a few other details could help them knock off the 8-4 visitors from San Francisco in Week 13.

Both teams had multiple players not practicing on Wednesday or limited in practice due to rest, with many returning to full practice on Thursday. Only two remained on the participation report due to rest:

  • RB Christian McCaffrey – DNP
  • OG Joel Bitonio – Limited

The rest of the participation report with injuries was as follows, with changes noted in bold below:

Browns Injury Report

  • TE Brenden Bates – Ankle – DNP
  • CB Tyson Campbell – Hip – Limited
  • RB Jerome Ford – Hamstring – Limited to DNP
  • QB Dillon Gabriel – Concussion – Full
  • DT Adin Huntington – Quad – DNP
  • TE David Njoku – Knee – Limited
  • LB Carson Schwesinger – Ankle – Limited
  • WR Jamari Thrash – Foot – Limited
  • DE Alex Wright – Quad – DNP
  • CB Denzel Ward – Migraine – DNP to Full

Ford moving from Limited to DNP is a bad sign for his availability on Sunday.

Niners Injury Report

  • DE Robert Beal Jr. – Concussion – Full
  • LB Tatum Bethune – Ankle – DNP
  • LB Luke Gifford – Hip, calf – Limited
  • DT Sam Okuayinonu – Ankle – DNP
  • WR Ricky Pearsall – Knee – Full
  • K Eddy Pineiro – Right hamstring – DNP
  • OT Dominick Puni – Shoulder – Full
  • QB Brock Purdy – Toe – Full

Reporting has noted that Okuayinonu is likely to head to IR.

Black Friday’s injury report will provide us with each team’s official injury statuses for Week 13.

Browns vs Niners in Week 13: Weather forecast says snow is not the only problem

imagn-24819576.jpg

For traditionalists against the Cleveland Browns playing in a domed stadium, your day may have come in Week 13 of the 2025 NFL season. “Football is an outside sport,” “Cleveland football should have all the weather involved,” and “It is not real football without the weather,” are just a few of the statements made by this group of folks.

Some have even said it is an advantage for the Browns to play outdoors, despite data saying otherwise. Generally speaking, there are only one or two games at most a year where cold, bad weather impacts the game in Cleveland.

Week 13 against the San Francisco 49ers is likely to be one of those games. The current weather forecast is calling for all the weather issues that impact football:

  • Wind
  • Rain
  • Snow

The official write-up by The Weather Channel:

Windy. Rain showers early will transition to snow showers in the afternoon. High 38F. Winds SW at 25 to 35 mph. Chance of precip 60%. Higher wind gusts possible.

While there is some growing hype for QB Shedeur Sanders’ home debut, the weather could put a damper on the number of passes thrown, the success rate of both teams’ quarterbacks, and the general energy of the crowd just days after Thanksgiving.

Browns vs. 49ers: Week 13 Need to Know

gettyimages-2248300459.jpg

The Cleveland Browns close out the month of November when they host the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.

Cleveland comes into the game fresh off a win against the Las Vegas Raiders, which was fueled by a defense that pocketed 10 sacks, and an offensive outburst from Rookie of the Week nominee Dylan Sampson.

The 49ers had a short week after beating the Carolina Panthers on Monday night, and are looking to stay in the playoff race in the competitive NFC West Division.

While the standings may favor the 49ers in this matchup, the Browns have only lost twice at home to San Francisco since 1950, so there may be a few surprises on tap for Sunday afternoon.

In Case You Missed It

A Final Quote

Safety Grant Delpit on the energy that quarterback Shedeur Sanders brings to the team:

“He got the spark, stardom and all that and he’s popping it right now. So I tell him keep popping it, man. Keep doing what he’s doing, and we got you on defense. So we’re going to get you that ball back and keep riding that energy, man, because we need it.”

Browns plan for Shedeur Sanders should not surprise but notable

imagn-26143083.jpg

The Cleveland Browns head into Week 13 of the 2025 NFL season with the possibility that QB Shedeur Sanders could change the future of the franchise. Sander’s starting debut was good enough to be named the starter, even if it was just “good enough.”

The Browns starter has an uphill battle given some of his limitations, but Sanders showed enough upside and was at least better than “the other guy.” Sanders’ home debut has everyone excited despite the weather forecast. Cleveland HC Kevin Stefanski named Sanders the starter this week despite QB Dillon Gabriel being cleared from his concussion.

That makes this report by ESPN’s Adam Schefter slightly confusing or “Captain Obvious” levels of reporting:

Sources: Browns are open to giving Shedeur Sanders an extended look as their QB1.https://t.co/KZ0CQBMcDy

— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) November 29, 2025

In the article, Schefter noted:

The Browns were impressed with what they saw in Sanders’ first NFL start last Sunday at Las Vegas — his playmaking skills, his aggressive downfield throws, his ability to buy time and push the ball down the field. Sanders will have to continue to get comfortable playing in structure and on time, but the Browns are encouraged with what they have seen so far.

Despite that, Schefter’s report noted that Sanders’ performance in Week 13 could change Cleveland’s plan, but the fifth-round pick has another chance to prove himself:

This is the opportunity now in front of Sanders. The Browns are open to playing him now, but they also are not rushing to any judgements. For now, they know he’s their quarterback and he has another chance to gain more trust, silence more critics and prove he can be the Browns’ answer at quarterback.

So, Sanders is the starter this week and, according to ESPN, has to chance to hold on to that job for the rest of the season. Makes sense to… everyone.

Cleveland Browns vs. San Francisco 49ers Week 13 Predictions – An equalizer for the good guys?

gettyimages-1785999951.jpg

This Sunday, the Cleveland Browns take on the San Francisco 49ers. Below, we analyze a few advantages, disadvantages, or general thoughts about the two teams before getting to our predictions for the game.

A Test of Epic Proportions

gettyimages-1785999951.jpg

Call it delusion or call it faith, but Cleveland Browns fans are buying in on an upset against the San Francisco 49ers this week. A lot of that stems on the belief or hope that Shedeur Sanders has that moxy and little bit of edge that the Browns needed on offense to successfully pair with the defense to win football games.

It might seem delusional to take the 3-8 Browns over the 8-4 49ers, considering that Cleveland only performed against one of the worst teams in the NFL last week in the Las Vegas Raiders. However, the elements might line up for Cleveland this week for a variety of factors.

under normal weather conditions, I’d be taking the 49ers. They are generally a smart, veteran, disciplined team. However, high wind gusts are expected for gametime with a chance of precipitation, elements that do not favor quarterback Brock Purdy or a 49ers team that has not won in Cleveland since 1984. Couple that with the fact that the 49ers generate some of the least amount of pressure in the NFL, and I think you can have a similar formula of the Browns’ defense dominating the game, and Sanders making some more plays outside the pocket to propel the offense.

All of these games are big for Sanders and the Browns, because there is a small window to determine whether Cleveland needs to invest in a quarterback in the 2026 NFL Draft. A lackluster performance here or a loss kind of takes away the buzz that has been built over the past week or so. Another win, though? Now you’ll really have people talking.

Quick Hitters

Defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz talked about the 49ers and how they use motion in their offense:

“Yeah, you could probably dial back to Miami week and the same conversations we had. You know, a couple of years ago, it was a little bit more unique with San Francisco was doing in some of their motions. And some of their tree has done some of that, including Mike (McDaniel) down in Miami. But other offensive coordinators have copied it, so it has given us more opportunities to work on it. But it certainly, like I said, the scheme is extremely challenging. Not just from a schematic standpoint, but from a personnel standpoint – the way they use all their guys. So, obviously, the ability to counter all those motions – a big part of that is having your eyes correct and good communication, things that we did a really good job with against Miami. So, we’ll have to do the same in this game.”

Offensive coordinator Tommy Rees was asked about the Browns’ use of the Wildcat and his personal experience with calling it:

“Like ever with the Wildcat? When I was working at Notre Dame, we introduced it. Never got a bunch of… never got a ton of benefit out of it there, just for whatever reason. I think we had it up a few weeks ago, going into the Miami game, just felt like we could gain an extra gap in the run game, gain an extra hat in certain places, makes you really defend in the run specific looks, all 11, without giving up too much of the schematics of it, like there are some real advantages to it. Q has, you know, comfort in doing it and somebody we trust doing it. And you can kind of define the look you’re going to get to attack. Obviously, we’ve had a lot of success here in two small sample sizes of games, but we’ve scored four touchdowns and had some productive runs in the package. You know, our fullback was unavailable there throughout the game. So, that takes you out of certain personnel groupings. So that’s kind of -Wildcat’s, another one you can use in those run heavy situations. And, you know, we don’t use it every week, but it’s something we work on and have in our arsenal and have a lot of confidence in that group of guys, you know, making those plays work and you can kind of define the looks that you’re trying to attack.”

Special teams coordinator Bubba Ventrone was asked about Gage Larvadain’s big return last week:

“Yeah, it was great. I mean, I thought our guys did a good job being able to stay in phase with their coverage guys down the field. And Gage did a nice job of getting the ball downhill and attacking their coverage. Set up a score, which was great for us. So, hopefully continue to build off of that in the next handful of weeks.”

Some other notes to look forward to:

  • I make Jerry Jeudy a key every week, but I still don’t know what the heck he was thinking last week with that fumble. Hopefully all of these receivers see though that Shedeur Sanders has the mindset of keeping a play alive, and if he buys time, they need to be on top of their alertness to find that opening and capitalize.
  • The Browns’ blocking effort in the Wildcat is substantially better looking than without it. It’s almost like when they know for sure who their assignment is, they can thrive.
  • Special teams had a solid effort last week, let’s see if they can keep it up. The Browns took care of business against the likes of Miami and Las Vegas, but the reason things went awry against the Jets was due to special teams.

Predictions

Here are predictions from multiple staff members at DBN:

Chris Pokorny: “Sometimes, those weird statistics don’t lie. The 49ers are coming across the country, haven’t won in Cleveland in awhile, and the weather conditions aren’t in their favor. The Browns’ defense will be as fierce as ever.” Browns 20, 49ers 13

Jared Mueller: “Called it homer-ism. Called it Thanksgiving hopeful-ism. Call it stupidity but I saw the Cleveland Browns beat the San Francisco 49ers with PJ Walker at quarterback and a good defense that is not as good as the one they will face in 2025.

The little travel and schedule factors could play a role as well for the visitors.” Browns 20, 49ers 17

Barry Shuck: “The 49ers are a dangerous team when they have the ball. Ranked #2 in passing yards and #3 in passing completions. Their rushing attack is bottom third, which means they will air it out. How to solve this? Another 10 sack game will certainly help. If QBs are being constantly harassed and flushed from the pocket, their production goes waaaaay down. Just ask Geno Smith. Meanwhile, the Browns boast the league’s #4 pass defense. This will be the storyline of the game. These two groups are against each other. Vegas loves the Niners. My gut says San Fran, but on paper, I am going to pick the Browns in an upset if the offensive line gives a solid pocket. San Fran can be a roller coaster.” Browns 27, 49ers 24

Curtiss Brown: “The last time these two teams played, we saw a pregame scuffle on the field which led to the Browns physically manhandling the 49ers and pulling off an upset/statement win.

Fast forward to now and the two teams are in different directions. The 49ers aren’t the same team as they were last year (mainly defensively due to injuries) and their offense still has noticeable stars on that side of the ball. The 49ers are coming off a short week and they have to travel cross country so that could play a factor. I could see the Browns pulling off the upset because for some reason Kyle Shanahan struggles against Jim Schwartz.

Rookie QB Shedeur Sanders played fine last week but the 49ers defense is opportunistic and Robert Saleh has that group playing decent and sound football. The only way Cleveland wins this game if Sanders keeps the Browns offense on schedule and the team plays complementary football. Force QB Brock Purdy to make mistakes, and you have a chance. I don’t see the Browns beating the 49ers this time (even though I they could beat them 2 years ago), just too many questions on how the offense is going to look against a decent and well coached defense.” 49ers 27, Browns 17

Ezweav: “Shedeur showed what looked to be some improvement from the Baltimore game and that’s encouraging. I think it’s possible that the Raiders being less than awesome could have hidden some deficiencies. The Niners, while injured, are still a real team and defense and will very likely be much more effective in rattling the rookie (btw shout out to Vegas for taking their tanking operation seriously while we’re out here messing around).

I’m not hopeful. I would LOVE to be wrong and for the kid to just keep getting better. My problem is (not that I know anything but) he’s not improving at the things I need to see improvements on (setting protections, stepping up in the pocket as opposed to bailing out of it, hitting the checkdowns, etc.) I just ain’t, at least not substantially. And hey if he does show cromulent improvement and continues to climb I will give him all the credit in the world.

Alas I think the issue stems from the same thing that wrecks all non-FQB’s: processing speed. It’s the line of demarcation. You can have absolutely everything else but if you don’t have that, the rest doesn’t matter nearly as much. It can improve but there can also be a pretty hard ceiling for all but about 8-14 dudes on the planet at any given time. Admittedly it’s too early to make that determination I’m just skeptical of a positive eventuation.

Let’s hope I’m wrong!” 49ers 37, Browns 16

Browns vs 49ers Week 13 matchup: Score, highlights, Shedeur Sanders, stats, analysis and more

imagn-21656939.jpg

In Week 13 of the 2025 NFL season, the Cleveland Browns welcome the San Francisco 49ers into Huntington Bank Field off the shores of Lake Erie. Wind, rain, and snow are expected in the forecast, with QB Brock Purdy’s career numbers greatly impacted by bad-weather games.

The Niners are competing in a very tough NFC, while the Browns hold on to very low hopes of making a run to the playoffs on the AFC side.

Rookie QB Shedeur Sanders has a chance to change the future for him and the organization if he is able to build on a decent first start in Week 12. Even the Kelce brothers are excited for Sanders’ home debut this week versus the 49ers. A ton of little details could be on Sanders and Cleveland’s side in Week 13.

Browns, Niners winners and losers: Special teams, offense fail again

gettyimages-2248674705.jpg

Browns-Kenny-DONE-1.jpg

The Cleveland Browns were still in the playoff hunt. Maybe not for a Wild Card seed, but the division title was just a few games away. No, really.

RELATED: BROWNS VS. 49ERS: SPECIAL TEAMS BLOW IT AGAIN

The San Francisco 49ers are a good team. Not great, but much improved since last season. And so far, they have beaten some other very good teams, such as the Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks. They also reside in arguably the hardest division in the league. Every team except one has a winning record. It is very possible to see three teams from this NFC West Division make the playoffs.

The Browns are still relying on their defense to keep them in games this year. The offense is struggling, but newly minted quarterback Shedeur Sanders has plenty of fans behind him to keep him going. This game was the first start in front of Browns fans.

In the end, Cleveland had minimal offense and plenty of special teams mistakes, as they were beaten pretty badly 26-8, in front of a sparse crowd.

So who played well for the Browns? Who didn’t?

BROWNIES

LB Carson Schwesinger -Cleveland’s entrant into the league’s top defensive rookie award played a great game. He is a sideline-to-sideline player. With 7:22 left in the second quarter, he filled the gap and nailed San Francisco RB Christian McCaffrey for no gain. As the third quarter was winding down, he recognized the shuttle pass to McCaffrey for no gain at the Browns’ 18-yard line that then made it third-and-nine. On a first-and-goal in the final period, Schwesinger caught McCaffrey for a two-yard loss. Led all Browns defenders with 10 total tackles, one tackle for loss, and one QB hit.

RG Wyatt Teller – The better runs from RB Quinshon Judkins came to Teller’s side, whether between the center and guard, or the guard and tackle. On Cleveland’s second play of the game, Judkins plowed through a hole between Teller and RT Jack Conklin for seven yards. Seven more yards on the next possession. With nine seconds left in the first stanza, RB Dylan Sampson went right behind Teller’s block of DT Kalia Davis and gained nine yards. Judkins gained eight yards in the second quarter when Teller pushed Davis to the inside. Four minutes later, it was Sampson’s turn as he netted an eight-yard gain behind Teller’s block. In the fourth quarter, facing a third-and-one, Judkins found the hole between Teller and RT KT Leveston and scampered 17 yards to San Fran’s 42-yard line. Teller’s pass protection was excellent as well. Davis finished the game with just one tackle and no other stats.

Pass rush – For most of the game, 49ers QB Brock Purdy was harassed and pressured by the Cleveland defense. DE Myles Garrett only got one sack, but the overall effort was there. DTs Maliek Collins and Mason Graham were in the backfield quite a bit, as was DE Isaiah McGuire before he became injured. After the good punt return set the Niners set up with great field position in the first quarter, the pressure from Collins forced Purdy to throw the ball away from the Browns’ two-yard line. The following play was just a one-yard gain by McCaffrey as the D-line stuffed him. Garrett nailed McCaffrey for a three-yard loss in the second quarter.

——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

FROWNIES

Offense – Punt, downs, punt, TD, punt, fumble, punt, downs, downs. Yards average per pass: 4.0. Yards average per rush: 2.8. Never got into the Red Zone. Total yards: 253. Third downs: 3-11. Fourth downs: 0-4. 149 passing yards.

49ers drive right before the half – Cleveland had just scored and was leading 8-7. K Andre Szmyt then sent a touchback, which placed San Fran at their own 35-yard line with 39 ticks remaining before halftime. 13-yard completion on a third-and-10 to WR Ricky Pearsall. 12 yards to Jauan Jennings. Then the killer throw to TE George Kittle for 33 yards with a first-and-goal with 15 seconds left. The 49ers went from their own end to Cleveland’s seven-yard line in 24 seconds?

Home crowd – It was billed as the first home game start for rookie QB Shedeur Sanders, who won his first-ever NFL start last week. So, all these new Browns’ fans who have been buying up all the #12 jerseys should have packed the place out, correct? Wrong. At kickoff, the stadium looked like it was at halftime and everyone was refilling their beer cup, getting a hot dog with some Stadium Mustard, or in the necessary. Where was everyone? Yes, the temp at game time was 35 degrees under cloudy skies and a southwest wind of 20 MPH. So, it was chilly. But chilly is just a spring day for Clevelanders. In the fourth quarter, the entire lower bowl was full and the upper sections were a sea of orange seats.

Lack of wide receiver play – This offense just isn’t using its receivers any longer. Any of them. Why? Jerry Jeudy led all receivers with 26 yards. No, really. Gage Larvadain had two catches for 23 yards. Ced Tillman had one target and no receptions. Isaiah Bond with one catch. Malachi Corley had no receiving stats.

ALL OVER IT 👏

— San Francisco 49ers (@49ers) November 30, 2025

Special teams – The Larvadain fumble on the punt was inexcusable. You have one job. How did all the Cleveland tacklers end up bunched in the center on the punt return after the Browns’ first possession? San Fran returner went through one hole, and it was all green ahead of him. If not for the hustle of TE Blake Whiteheart, it was six points. Only an average game for P Corey Bojorquez, who had four kicks for an average of 44.5 yards per punt with none downed inside the 20. Larvadain fielded three punts for three yards with an average of 1.0 yards per return. Really? Corley’s decision to field the kickoff while going out of bounds at the five yard line was another special blunder.

S Ronnie Hickman – Right before the half, LB Devin Bush picked up Kittle, then passed him off to the deep zone, to which Hickman was slow to pick him up. Kittle then grabbed the pass on Cleveland’s seven-yard line for a 33-yard gain and an extra three points going into the locker room. On a third-and-nine in the third quarter, Hickman played off Kittle too much, and the talented tight end converted for 14 yards to the Browns’ four-yard line. With 12:35 remaining in the game, Hickman was blasted away by OT Spencer Burford as McCaffrey gained eight on the running play.

Third down efficiency – This should be a rubber stamp each game. The Browns went 3-11.

Fourth down efficiency – OMG. Zero for four attempts. Who should we fire?

gettyimages-2248674868.jpg

The play that changed the entire game – Cleveland was down 10-8 as they had the ball first in the second half, played five downs, and then punted. San Fran then punted after a failed possession. The Browns had the ball on their own 24-yard line. An eight-yard completion to Jeudy. Judkins for one yard. On third-and-one, Judkins was stuffed going left. That made it fourth-and-one at their own 33-yard line. Out trots the punter Bojorquez? The offense remained on the field. Behind by two. In the third quarter. In their own portion of the field. TE Harold Fannin, who was a high school quarterback, fumbled the snap, which negated any chance of getting the first down. Nine plays later, the 49ers scored a touchdown, the atmosphere of the contest swung wide, and the game was never in doubt from that point on. Who was responsible for this decision?

Field position – Back in the origins of the game of American Football, if a team didn’t get anywhere on first or second down, oftentimes they would punt in order to drive the other team further back, and play a field position game. Today, the Browns started on average at their own 21-yard line. San Francisco started an average on their own 41-yard line. Yikes.

Injuries – DT Collins went out with a knee injury, RB Sampson hurt his calf, RT Conklin went into concussion protocol, DT Shelby Harris left the game, C Ethan Pocic hurt his leg but returned, QB Shedeur Sanders went out a play, McGuire did not return.

——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

Milk Bones – Gobble till you wobble

TE Blake Whiteheart – Admittedly, Whiteheart is used more for his blocking skills on the offense, but his rundown of KR Skyy Moore after the Browns’ first possession was extra special. When Moore busted through the opening and turned a bit towards the left sideline, Whiteheart was still in the middle of the pack. He turned upfield, but Moore had four yards on him at midfield. Bojorquez tried to tackle Moore at the 42-yard line, which slowed him down enough for Whiteheart to catch up. Whiteheart then had the angle and ran like he had a K-9 after him before making the solo tackle. The definition of “hustle.”

RB Quinshon Judkins – Had several good runs and was able to find some tight holes. His first touch of the game was for seven yards, and with 5:47 left in the second quarter, he found an eight-yard gain. The two-point conversion from the Wildcat was all Judkins’ effort. In the final quarter, he found a seam between Teller and Leveston and gained 17 yards. Finished with 23 carries for 91 yards and a 4.0 yards per carry average.

— Cleveland Browns (@Browns) November 30, 2025

QB Shedeur Sanders – Plenty of good plays, and plenty of bad as well. He missed badly on the overthrow to Jeudy early in the game as the receiver had three steps on S Ji’Ayir Brown on a third-and-three. The touchdown pass completion to Fannin as time was winding down in the first quarter was incredible, as Sanders had his arm hit by DE Robert Beal just as he released the throw. Sanders almost had an interception in the fourth quarter on an attempt to WR Isaiah Bond, but it was dropped. Still needs to learn to throw the ball away instead of going backwards in an attempt to avoid the pass rush. Two sacks were a result of this. Finished going 16-25 for 149 yards, one TD, zero picks, a 6.0 yards per catch average, sacked three times, and a 93.6 QB rating.

stretches his league lead with no. 19!#SFvsCLE on CBS and NFL+ pic.twitter.com/0e2bSRky74

— Cleveland Browns (@Browns) November 30, 2025

DE Myles Garrett – First half, not much going on. He made several good tackles on run plays in the second half and got a single sack. Garrett’s counterpart was 11-time Pro Bowler LT Trent Williams, who has allowed just three sacks all season. Garrett faked out, then made an inside move as Williams was recording it for Instagram. Five tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack, and three QB hits.

Browns lose suprising record they held vs. the Steelers

gettyimages-630769758.jpg

The Cleveland Browns did not have much going for them in the 2016 season.

That was the first year of head coach Hue Jackson’s tenure in Cleveland, and the season began with Jackson feeling “the earth move” during a tryout with washed-up quarterback Robert Griffin III, who the Browns subsequently signed. A self-proclaimed quarterback whisperer, Jackson also famously told everyone to “trust him” when it came to rookie quarterback Cody Kessler.

The season started with a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, where Griffin was injured, which led to Josh McCown, Kessler, Charlie Whitehurst, and Kevin Hogan all taking snaps at some point during the campaign.

That opening-day loss was followed by 13 more, before a Christmas Eve miracle saw the Browns defeat the San Diego Chargers thanks in part to defensive end Jamie Meder blocking a potential game-tying field goal. The victory kept the Browns from joining the 2008 Detroit Lions as the only 0-16 teams in league history — a feat that Jackson and the Browns would accomplish the following season — and set up the latest in a string of depressing season-finales in Pittsburgh against the Steelers.

A strange thing happened that afternoon in Acrisure Stadium, however. No, the Browns did not win as they could not hold a lead in overtime and headed home with their 15th loss of the season.

It was a shocking display of dominance in the run game against the Pittsburgh defense that turned into the story of the day. Led by Isaiah Crowell’s 152 rushing yards, the Browns rolled up 231 rushing yards, the most rushing yards the Steelers had allowed at home since O.J. Simpson and the Buffalo Bills put up 310 yards in 1975.

Pittsburgh was still playing in Three Rivers Stadium when they faced the Bills, so Cleveland’s total was the highest allowed in their current stadium. The Jacksonville Jaguars matched Cleveland’s total the following year, and the two franchises enjoyed their spot atop the list of dominant performances against the Steelers.

That was until this past Sunday, however, as the Bills decided it was time to reclaim their spot at the top. Buffalo worked over Pittsburgh to the tune of 249 rushing yards, including 144 from running back James Cook III, to set a new high mark at the stadium by an opponent.

Buffalo was able to put up those numbers despite missing both of their starting tackles by simply utilizing run-heavy formations and bullying the Steelers with the same basic concepts, according to The Athletic.

There are not too many happy memories from Jackson’s time with the Browns, as fans who thought it could not get any worse after his first season found out just how untrue that was the following year.

But for one surprising afternoon in Pittsburgh, the Browns at least did something right in an otherwise dismal season, even if another team has now replaced them at the top of that particular leaderboard.

With Jack Conklin, Wyatt Teller injured, Browns sign OLman to roster according to report

gettyimages-2230543816.jpg

All that is left is to wind down the last five weeks of the season and see where the Cleveland Browns are going to be selecting in the 2026 NFL draft. Monday Night Football’s results could impact where the Browns are heading into Week 14, but their next matchup, versus the Tennessee Titans, could have a much bigger say in their draft position.

Cleveland has a small margin for victory, but Week 14 is against another bad team, which has been helpful in victories twice this season. Unfortunately, injuries have knocked DT Maliek Collins out for the rest of the season and OL Wyatt Teller out for the next game, at least. OT Jack Conklin is also in concussion protocol, while rookie RB Dylan Sampson has a calf issue.

With two offensive linemen likely to miss the Titans game, the Browns are reportedly bringing in OL Jack Conley:

The Browns are signing OL Jack Conley to their practice squad, per his agents Zac Hiller and Matt Leist of LAA.

— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) December 1, 2025

Conley is a 6’7”, 333-pound offensive tackle out of Boston College. The undrafted free agent will be joining his third practice squad of the season after starting off with the New England Patriots before joining the Detroit Lions. Conley has not played a snap this season.

The team did not make the move official on Monday’s transaction wire.

Browns NFL Power Rankings: Cleveland stays flat as big rookie QB match-up looms

gettyimages-2249217701.jpg

It is Week 14, and the Cleveland Browns only dropped 0.3 spots to fall to an even ranking of 27.0. We’re at the point of the season where I think it’ll be difficult for the Browns to fall much further (unless they lose badly to the Titans this week). Even a lopsided loss to the 49ers on the scoreboard barely made them fall, and it’s because the Browns have these unique blunders that cost them (but they aren’t the defense, nor Shedeur Sanders’ performance). If the Browns still win a few games down the stretch, though, I think they could get into the lower-20s. We’ll see how things go with Sanders vs. Cam Ward this week, though. Maybe special teams will cost Cleveland a few more touchdowns.

Here is a summary of how the Cleveland Browns are viewed across mainstream media outlets in NFL Power Rankings heading into Week 14 of the 2025 NFL season.

CBS Sports – No. 29 (down 1 spot)

Shedeur Sanders will remain as the starter, which he should. But they might need to get a quarterback for 2026.

ESPN – No. 27 (up 1 spot)

X factor for final stretch: Quarterback Shedeur Sanders

Sanders, a fifth-round pick, will make his third straight start against the Titans, and ESPN’s Adam Schefter previously reported that the Browns are open to giving Sanders an extended look for the rest of the season. He has shown flashes in his two starts (60% completion rate, two touchdown passes) and will have an opportunity to leave a lasting impression on Cleveland’s decision-makers ahead of the offseason. The team has two first-round picks in the 2026 draft.

NFL.com – No. 28 (down 1 spot)

This likely wasn’t the follow-up performance Shedeur Sanders and the Browns were hoping for following his successful first start. That said, there were promising developments, and Sanders was far from poor in windy conditions — plus, the rest of the offense did him no favors. In the Browns’ only possessions of the second half, they punted twice, lost a fumble and turned it over on downs twice, continuing their trend of playing mostly terrific defense and still losing. The 49ers did go 11-for-17 on third downs, but their three TD drives spanned 16, 32 and 18 yards. Not sure how the defense can take any blame for that. Kevin Stefanski is now guaranteed to have a losing record for the fourth time in six seasons; he won Coach of the Year the other two. It’s going to be interesting to see how patient this franchise is in the coming offseason.

Sporting News – No. 28 (down 1 spot)

The Browns got some more good vibes with Shedeur Sanders but the offense is operating at about the same level with previous QBs. They are still rather sloppy against better teams such as the 49ers.

Yahoo Sports – No. 27 (down 1 spot)

The Browns have had seven starting quarterbacks over the past two seasons. In two straight seasons, head coach Kevin Stefanski has given up play-calling duties to his offensive coordinator, which was Ken Dorsey in 2024 and Tommy Rees in 2025. Nothing has worked. The Browns finished 32nd in offensive DVOA last season and they’re 32nd in offensive DVOA this season. If there’s a reason to move on from Stefanski, a two-time NFL Coach of the Year, it’s that he hasn’t figure out any solutions to the offense.

Bleacher Report – No. 27 (no change)

Browns edge-rusher Myles Garrett is abjectly terrifying. There’s no point in talking about his team—the Browns handed San Francisco a win Sunday with a comedy of errors that would be funny if it wasn’t so sad. The 49ers had three touchdown drives Sunday. Not one was 40 yards long.

So let’s talk about Garrett, who is barreling toward his second Defensive Player of the Year award. Garrett’s sack on Sunday gives him 19 for the year. Garrett needs four over his five games to break the NFL’s single-season sack record of 22.5. Given that he has more sacks over his last five games than anyone else has for the season (pending what Brian Burns does Monday night), his chances of doing so appear good. It’s a shame to see a generational talent like Garrett wasted on a terrible team.

USA Today – No. 23 (up 1 spot)

DE Myles Garrett v. Cam Ward, the league’s most-sacked quarterback? Hall of Fame officials should make the short trip to Cleveland on Sunday afternoon given the likelihood the single-season sack record could fall … in only 13 games.

What do you think of the Browns’ ranking this week?

Former Browns coach taking over as Cal Bears head coach, according to reports

gettyimages-1148110637.jpg

Not the head coaching news that some Cleveland Browns fans want to hear, but college head coaching news tied to the team’s history is the news nonetheless.

College football has been a little bit of the wild west over the last month or so. The Lane Kiffin drama with Ole Miss and LSU was the highest-profile one, following Brian Kelly’s departure from LSU and James Franklin being let go at Penn State. With Kiffin now at LSU and Franklin finding work at Virginia Tech, the musical chairs are moving fast in college.

The Nittany Lions lost their top candidate to BYU, while the Cal Bears are reportedly hiring Oregon Ducks’ DC Tosh Lupoi to take over their program. If that name sounds familiar, congratulations, you are either a very dedicated Browns fan and/or an Oregon fan.

Lupoi was the defensive line coach in Cleveland for one season under HC Freddie Kitchens after spending a decade in the college ranks, including as Alabama’s defensive coordinator in 2017 and 2018. With the Browns, Lupoi coached DE Myles Garrett after Greg Williams limited the star defender’s move set. Lupoi gave the “coach speak” answer to my question back in 2019, but talked about wanting to individualize things for each player:

Does DL Tosh Lupoi teach limited “moves” like Myles Garrett had last year? pic.twitter.com/hDbuSZyPo5

— Jared Mueller (@JaredKMueller) May 30, 2019

Lupoi stayed at the NFL level for two more seasons before taking over as DC with the Ducks in 2022.

There are a number of former Cleveland coaches at the college level, including Kitchens (UNC) and Rob Chudzinski (Boston College). Given the difficulties involved with NIL and the transfer portal, the work of a college coach is far more encompassing and 365 days a year than ever before. It will be interesting if more coaches follow Jeff Hafley’s lead, leaving higher college positions (in Hafley’s case, HC at BC) for lower positions in the NFL (DC with the Green Bay Packers).

Once a Brown, always a Brown (sort of). DBN wishes Lupoi luck in his new position with the Cal Bears.

Browns: Sanders, Jeudy brush off sideline tiff

imagn-27195807.jpg

The game of football is an emotional one for players, even in the best of times.

So when it comes to the Cleveland Browns, who rarely experience the best of times, it is understandable that emotions can boil over from time to time.

Such was the case on Sunday afternoon during Cleveland’s loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Even with starting quarterback Shedeur Sanders having another week of practice reps with the first team, it was another long day against an average defense, with the Browns only managing 253 yards of offense and finishing 3-of-11 on third down.

One play that the Browns would love to have hit on came early in the fourth quarter when Sanders and wide receiver Jerry Jeudy could not connect on a pass that would have gone for a big gain, perhaps even a touchdown.

Shedeur Sanders HAD Jerry Jeudy for a touchdown.

Missed him, and Jerry seemed to be upset, did the wind take this one? 🤔 pic.twitter.com/8D41Nd0ops

— SM Highlights (@SMHighlights1) November 30, 2025

Whether it was an overthrow by Sanders or a lack of effort from Jeudy depends on which narrative one subscribes to in relation to the players. But there is no denying it has been a rough season for both Sanders, who had to wait for a starting opportunity until Week 12, and Jeudy, who has failed to build off his 1,000-yard receiving season in 2024.

Those frustrations appeared to come to a head early in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game when the CBS broadcast showed Jeudy in a heated exchange with Sanders on the sidelines.

On Wednesday, both players had an opportunity to discuss what happened, and Sanders said everything is fine and he has moved on:

“We resolved that. We’re not going to speak on that. I would think, like, when I’m not playing, when I’m a starter, (our relationship is) the same. You know, I wouldn’t say people treat you better, that you start now, you know, like it’s normal.”
#Browns WR Jerry Jeudy on what he would’ve done differently regarding the confrontation with Shedeur Sanders:

"I would of talked to him off camera. Stuff like that happens. Me and Shedeur good, everything good."

Sanders also said they resolved the issue and would not speak… pic.twitter.com/6OCu9FRTzm

— Ashly Holder (@AshNoelleTV) December 3, 2025

As for Jeudy, while he admitted he could have handled things differently, he also pointed out that it is all just part of the game:

“I probably would have talked to him off-camera. That’s what I would have done differently. Of course, I’m going to speak my mind and say what I see out there. But it is what it is. Football. Me and Shedeur are good. Stuff like that happens.

“Y’all are going to make it bigger than what it is because the media feeds off negativity. It is what it is. We move on from it. I live in real life. So whatever happens in this locker room, this is real, not what’s going on on social media and everything. Me and Shedeur are good. Everything’s good.”

Now that the key members in this little dramatic spat have worked things out, there is no doubt that everyone else will move on.

At least until the next time something pops off between the quarterback and one of his receivers.

Browns, Titans injury reports: 15 players sit out Week 14’s Wednesday practice

gettyimages-2249587673.jpg

What happens when a one-win team faces off with a three-win team late in an NFL season? Injuries and rest, it seems.

The Cleveland Browns are favored against the Tennessee Titans heading into Week 14 of the 2025 NFL season, as both teams prepare for the 2026 NFL draft more than anything else. The two quarterbacks that were expected to be selected at the top of the 2025 NFL draft, Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders, will do battle with neither having solidified their position as the future of their respective teams.

Wednesday’s injury report was loaded with players sitting out practice, including a wide variety resting for Tennessee. Cleveland will be without DT Maliek Collins and OL Wyatt Teller this week for sure, and could be missing OL Jack Conklin, among others, leading to a lot of roster changes on Tuesday.

The first injury report of the week is a long one:

Browns Injury Report

  • TE Brenden Bates – Ankle – DNP
  • OL Joel Bitonio – Rest – Limited
  • LB Devin Bush – Foot – DNP
  • CB Tyson Campbell – Hip – Limited
  • OL Jack Conklin – Concussion – DNP
  • S Rayshawn Jenkins – Knee – Limited
  • DE Isaiah McGuire – Knee – DNP
  • TE David Njoku – Knee – Limited
  • RB Dylan Sampson – Calf – DNP
  • LB Carson Schwesinger – Ankle – Limited
  • OL Wyatt Teller – Calf – DNP
  • DE Alex Wright – Quad – Limited
  • QB Deshaun Watson – Achilles – Limited
  • CB Denzel Ward – Hip – Limited

Titans Injury Report

  • LB Jaylen Harrell – Achilles – DNP
  • S Kendell Brooks – Concussion – Full
  • C Lloyd Cushenberry III – Foot – DNP
  • WR Chimere Dike – Quad – Limited
  • S Amani Hooker – Ribs – Full
  • DE Sebastian Joseph-Day – Rest – DNP
  • TE Chig Okonkwo – Rest – DNP
  • RB Tony Pollard – Rest – DNP
  • DT Jeffery Simmons – Rest – DNP
  • DT Shy Tuttle – Concussion – Full
  • LB Jihad Ward – Rest – DNP
  • OL Kevin Zeitler – Rest – DNP

Given the number of players listed with rest, the injury report will be much shorter by the end of the week.

Browns vs. Titans Week 14 predictions: Scoring will be a challenge

gettyimages-1699175191.jpg

The last time these two teams met, the QB situation was a bit different. | Photo by Cooper Neill/Getty Images

The Cleveland Browns take on the Tennessee Titans this Sunday. We talked about earlier in the week how the over/under for this game is one of the lowest of the season, and sure enough, all of the projections below would hit the under. It’s also a clean sweep projected for the Browns — which sounds good on paper if you just compare the defenses of the two teams, but can you properly account for special teams?

Here is what the national media is saying about the Week 14 game between the Browns and Titans:

CBS Sports (Pete Prisco) – Browns 20, Titans 10

This is the dog game of the day, but it does feature two quarterbacks from the 2025 draft class in Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders. Both have done some good and bad things. The Browns defense is much better than what Sanders will face. Look for the Browns to win it behind that defense.

CBS Sports (John Breech) – Browns 20, Titans 13

Sporting News (Vinnie Iyer) – Browns 16, Titans 7

Cam Ward vs. Shedeur Sanders used to be a top Hesiman and draft debate. Ward hasn’t done anything yet to dazzle as a rookie despite starting all season, while Sanders has had a few flashes early taking over for Cleveland. Ward is the only one of the rookie QBs, however, who needs to deal with Myles Garrett and the Browns’ pass rush on the road here.

Sporting News (Bill Bender) – Browns 17, Titans 12

Shedeur Sanders vs. Cam Ward? That’s the best way to sell what could be a low-scoring game between struggling offenses. Cleveland ranks 29th in scoring offense (16.2 ppg). Tennessee is last (14.2 ppg). Sanders has taken just four sacks through two starts. Ward has taken an average of four sacks per game on the road. Could Myles Garrett break the sack record this week?

Browns, Titans injury reports: 7 ruled out, 7 questionable for Week 14 in Cleveland

gettyimages-2247005093.jpg

Not only do the Cleveland Browns and Tennessee Titans have a combined record of 4-20, but injuries will also keep seven players on the sidelines for Week 14. While both teams might be tanking for the best position pick in the 2026 NFL draft, the players on the field will not be doing so on Sunday.

The problem is that quite a few will not be on the field.

The Browns will be without two starters on the offensive line, while the Titans will be lacking their center and cornerback. Seven other players are questionable for the game.

Wednesday’s injury report was a long one, with 15 players sitting out, including a lot of Titans resting despite only one victory this season. Thursday saw a lot of changes to the participation report. Friday, both teams submitted their final reports for Week 14:

Browns Injury Report

  • TE Brenden Bates – Ankle – Out
  • OL Jack Conklin – Concussion – Out
  • DT Adin Huntington – Quad – Out
  • OL Wyatt Teller – Calf – Out
  • QB Deshaun Watson – Achilles – Out
  • LB Devin Bush – Foot – Questionable
  • DT Mason Graham – Ribs – Questionable
  • DT Mike Hall Jr. – Knee – Questionable

Titans Injury Report

  • CB Jalyn Armour-Davis – Achilles – Out
  • C Lloyd Cushenberry III – Foot – Out
  • S Kendell Brooks – Concussion – Questionable
  • DT Shy Tuttle – Concussion – Questionable

The inactive reports that will come out 90 minutes before the game will be interesting, given the important questionable players on the lists above.

Browns vs. Titans: Week 14 Need to Know

gettyimages-2249749780.jpg

The Cleveland Browns play consecutive home games for the first time this season when they host the Tennessee Titans on Sunday at Huntington Bank Field.

Cleveland is coming off another dispirited loss, this time to the San Francisco 49ers, as the offense could never find a rhythm in the second start with Shedeur Sanders at quarterback. The Browns have now lost seven of their past nine games.

The Titans are in a worse spot, having lost seven in a row and currently in the driver’s seat to have the No. 1 overall draft pick for the second consecutive season.

While it may not be a marquee matchup, there is still a reason to tune in as Cleveland defensive end Myles Garrett continues his chase for the NFL’s single-season sack record. The game will also provide a contrast between rookie quarterbacks, with Sanders going up against Tennessee’s weak defense and Cam Ward facing Cleveland’s highly rated unit.

It is the Browns vs. the Titans from downtown Cleveland, and here is everything you need to know about the game.

A Final Quote

Defensive end Myles Garrett on possibly breaking the record for sacks in a single season on Sunday against the Titans:

“I mean, I’ll go for four, but I respect that team over there and what they can do. So, I got to make sure we stop the run and earn four opportunities, in which I can make that happen.”

Browns roster: Practice squad elevation news surprising given injuries

gettyimages-2230949131.jpg

The Cleveland Browns and Tennessee Titans will face off in a matchup for the aged, not ages. The fanbases for both teams have been weathered by the play they’ve had to watch on the field, and now they face each other in Week 14 of the 2025 NFL season. Both teams should be focused on the 2026 NFL draft and where they may be selecting.

Can QB Shedeur Sanders show up his counterpart, the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft QB Cam Ward?

Injuries and players sitting out were a big story to start the week, with 15 players sitting out practice on Wednesday. By Friday, seven players were ruled out for the Browns versus Titans, with seven others listed as questionable for Week 14.

With four defensive linemen and a starting linebacker among those listed as out or questionable, it made sense for Cleveland to elevate a defender from the practice squad. With two offensive linemen already ruled out, it seemed likely they would also elevate someone from that group.

Instead, the Browns only elevated DE KJ Henry for the game:

Henry (6-4, 255) is in his third NFL season out of Clemson. Originally a fifth-round pick by Washington in 2023, Henry has appeared in 14 career games with three starts with the Commanders (2023), Bengals (2024) and Cowboys (2024). He has recorded 22 career tackles and 2.5 sacks. Henry will wear No. 90.

With Watson still on Injured Reserve, four of Cleveland’s seven inactive players will be TE Brenden Bates, OL Jack Conklin, DT Adin Huntington, and OL Wyatt Teller. With five players listed as questionable, elevating just one player seems to indicate that at least two of them will be able to play on Sunday. If not, the Browns would have elevated a second player instead of playing a man down on the active roster.
