Browns vs. Jets Week 10 predictions: Cleveland has to win…right?

1166008435.jpg

The Cleveland Browns take on the New York Jets this Sunday. With both teams coming off the bye, Cleveland fans have been circling this game as one they surely have to win, right? It became even more obvious after the Jets traded away their top two defenders this week. The experts agree, taking a clean sweep of predictions in favor of the Browns. With that said, all of the margins are razor thin, with them seeing both teams having a struggle to get to 20 points.

Here is what the national media is saying about the Week 10 game between the Browns and Patriots:

CBS Sports (Pete Prisco) – Browns 21, Jets 17

This is one of the dog games of the week, featuring two teams coming off a bye. Both needed it. Both teams have quarterback issues, but at least the Browns have the better defense. The Jets traded away captains Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams this week. That won’t play well. I think the Browns win it behind their defense.

CBS Sports (John Breech) – Browns 19, Jets 16

Sporting News (Vinnie Iyer) – Browns 20, Jets 17

The Browns and Jets are both coming off merciful byes. This is a manageable matchup for Myles Garrett and the better defensive team coming into the matchup. The Browns can contain the run while also getting the more impactful running game on the road.

Sporting News (Bill Bender) – Browns 19, Jets 16

The Jets have allowed 31 sacks this season – the fourth most in the NFL. That is a frightening trend facing Cleveland edge rusher Myles Garrett – who has 10 sacks this season. Aaron Glenn did not announce a starting QB on Monday. The Browns average 12.5 points on the road. Dillon Gabriel has avoided sacks, but can he avoid turnovers on the road in a defensive struggle?

Browns vs. Jets: Week 10 Need to Know

gettyimages-2244170682.jpg

The Cleveland Browns open the second half of their 2025 NFL Season on Sunday when they take on the New York Jets.

Both teams are coming off their bye week and are in a close race with the New Orleans Saints, Tennessee Titans, New York Giants, Miami Dolphins, and Las Vegas Raiders to see who has what it takes to claim the No. 1 overall selection in the 2026 NFL Draft.

The game marks the debut of offensive coordinator Tommy Rees as the play caller on offense for the Browns. Rees will attempt to inject some life into quarterback Dillon Gabriel and a moribund offense in the hopes that the team does not have to pull the circus tent out of mothballs to accommodate another quarterback change.

As for the Jets, head coach Aaron Glenn has his own quarterback issues, as he continues to ponder the choice between Justin Fields, statistically one of the worst quarterbacks in the NFL, and Tyrod Taylor, who simply can’t stay healthy. They also traded away their two best defensive players, cornerback Sauce Gardner and defensive tackle Quinnen Williams, and benched former All-Pro linebacker Quincy Williams.

It is the Browns vs. the Jets from somewhere in the swamps of Jersey, and here is everything you need to know about the game.

News and Notes

  • New York quarterback Justin Fields has not thrown an interception this season.
  • The Jets are still last in the league, however, in turnover ratio at minus-9.
  • In three career games against the Browns, Fields has completed just 41 percent of his passes, averaged just 78 passing yards per game, and been sacked 12 times.
  • Fields’ air-yards-per-attempt is just 6.6, which is below the league average of 7.5, according to ESPN.
  • Cleveland quarterback Dillon Gabriel is No. 30 out of 32 qualifying quarterbacks in air-yards-per-attempt at 5.7 yards, according to ESPN.
  • The Jets are allowing 135.8 rushing yards per game.
  • Cleveland running back Quinshon Judkins has four games with more than 80 rushing yards this season.
  • The Browns are No. 2 in defensive success rate at 61.5 percent, but the offense is 30th in scoring at 15.8 points per game, according to ESPN.
  • Cleveland’s offense is averaging 17.5 points per game since Gabriel took over as the starting quarterback
  • Cleveland defensive end Myles Garrett continues to terrorize offenses as he is second in the NFL with 10 sacks. In addition, according to ESPN, Garrett is turning 29.4% of his pressures into sacks, faces double-teams 13.4% of the time, and is chipped on 29.5% of his pass-rush snaps.
  • Garrett’s 15 tackles for loss are the most by a player in the first eight games of a season since J.J. Watt of the Houston Texans in 2015.
  • Cleveland defensive tackle Maliek Collins’ 90.4 pass-rushing grade is No. 2 out of 124 defensive tackles, according to Pro Football Focus.
  • The Jets are No. 3 in rushing yards at 143.6 yards per game.
  • In Cleveland’s two wins, they have averaged 100 rushing yards per game. In their six losses, they have averaged 86 rushing yards per game.
  • The Jets are just 1-8 with a point differential of minus-108 in their past nine games coming off a bye.

In Case You Missed It

A Final Quote

Cleveland offensive coordinator Tommy Rees on taking over play calling on offense:

“I really think, the mentality here from the beginning was like, whatever is asked of me last year, this year, whatever the organization it’s going to ask of me, want to do that to my fullest capabilities. Excited about the opportunity, certainly, but try not to think of it in those terms. Like we have a job to do – as a staff, myself, players included, like, focused really on having a great week of preparation, making sure that we’re putting our best foot forward, using the bye week to improve some areas where we really need to improve on, and ultimately then, call a good game on Sunday.”

Browns, Jets injury report for Week 10: 1 out, 8 questionable

imagn-27255082.jpg

Two teams that have combined to win three games have three times that many players listed on their final injury report for Week 10. The Cleveland Browns hope to bounce back after their bye week with a new offensive play caller and some positive injury news on Friday. The New York Jets are also coming off their bye week, but spent the NFL trade deadline dealing away two of their best players.

Given the number of teams that are struggling this season, including 14 of them with three or fewer wins, the loser of Week 10’s matchup between the Browns and the Jets might just be the winner for the 2026 NFL draft.

Friday afternoon has arrived and both teams have sent out their injury reports with game day designations for when Cleveland travels to New York.

Browns Injury Report

  • WR Isaiah Bond – Foot – Out
  • TE Harold Fannin Jr. – Hamstring – Questionable
  • OT Cornelius Lucas – Back – Questionable (New injury on Friday)
  • LB Carson Schwesinger – Ankle – Questionable
  • WR Cedric Tillman – Hamstring – Questionable (A technicality because they have to activate him from IR on Saturday)

If both Fannin and Schwesinger play this week, it will be a big boost to Cleveland’s overall talent and depth. Will the team be more cautious given the opponent?

Jets Injury Report

  • RB Khalil Herbert – Groin – Questionable
  • LB Kiko Mauigoa – Concussion – Questionable
  • OL Xavier Newman-Johnson – Ankle – Questionable
  • WR Garrett Wilson – Knee – Questionable

Newman-Johnson did not practice on Friday, while Wilson has stated that he will play and was a full participant.

Cleveland Browns fans sound off on the team’s trade deadline moves, and if they can beat the Jets

During the season, Cleveland Browns fans vote in SB Nation Reacts to express their confidence level in the team or their thoughts on other topics.

NewYorkJets_1_110625.png

The Browns are coming off the bye, and saw fan confidence tick up by 9 percentage points up to 18%. It’s nothing drastic, but it’s the type of small bump I expected because Cleveland fans didn’t have to suffer through the stigma of a loss last week. I think some of the bump has to do with the expectations that they’ll beat the Jets this week too. Speaking of the Jets, their confidence sits pretty high at 56% for a 1-7 team. At first, I thought maybe it was that high because fans loved the haul of first-round picks the organization acquired during the trade deadline. However, it was actually the win over the Bengals (before their bye) that propelled the fan confidence up to the 50s.

Cleveland_2_110625_2bedf8.png
Cleveland_3_110625.png

We asked two other questions to fans this week, the first of which asked if fans approved of how the Browns handled the trade deadline. Only 28% of fans gave that approval, which I think was a bit harsh. The team was not going to drastically upgrade the offense, and would rather grow through the upcoming draft. The Cam Robinson trade hasn’t quite done anything positive yet, but it was a decent effort. Tyson Campbell also looks like he could be a nice fit for the defense.

Our other question asked who fans expect to win this weekend’s Browns vs. Jets game. 64% of Browns fans think Cleveland will get the win, while 36% see the Jets coming out on top.

NFL Winners and losers: Browns mistakes kill them in Week 10 loss to Jets

gettyimages-2245374480.jpg

Makes-me-drink-DONE.jpg

The Cleveland Browns were in an awkward spot at this juncture of the schedule. With a 2-6-0 record, they are either looking at what it will take to get a playoff berth (a lot), or where in the Top-10 will they be slotted in next year’s college draft.

RELATED: TIME FOR A SWITCH

The New York Jets are in a similar situation to the Browns, as their season is already lost with just a single win coming into Week 10.

Could Cleveland get a victory? Both teams sport great defenses with an offensive group that can’t score or finish drives. The Jets have gone a step further by shipping off several blue-chip players right before the trade deadline. They are now stocked full of high draft picks, which does not help their season this year whatsoever.

Nothing wrong with a rebuild or planning for the future. Unless you are a Jets season ticket holder. Or Cleveland, for that matter.

In the end, the Browns allowed two special teams touchdowns that killed them and lost to a one-win club 27-17.

So who played well for the Browns? Who didn’t?

_____________________________________________________________________________

BROWNIES

Defense – All game long, the defense kept the Browns in this game. At one time, it was 14-7, and yet the Jets offense hadn’t scored or come close to the Red Zone. New York’s initial first down was with 9:41 left in the second quarter. For the entire game, the Jets had 12 first downs and were 3-11 on first-down conversions. Only 47 plays for the home team, and they had the ball for over nine minutes less. 169 total yards, and yet the Browns lost? Don’t look at the defense. Three sacks, one interception, 54 total passing yards allowed, zero rushing touchdowns, eight QB hits, 10 tackles for loss, five batted passes, and only one touchdown? Not it.

(Editor’s note: Not everyone believes the defense is elite anymore.)

WR Malachi Corley – Every time he touched the ball, it went for double-digit numbers. Two rushes for 16 yards each and a duo of first downs. One kickoff return for 22 yards. Yet, he was only targeted once all game on a poor throw, and had just the two rushing attempts. Perhaps this kid needs more touches.

K Andre Szmyt – Nailed both field goal attempts, converted both PATs, and his kickoffs all landed between the five and two-yard line. Scored eight points. Just doing what he is supposed to do.

imagn-27547076.jpg

Browns offense first half – The play calling was grand in the first half. Cleveland was able to drive down the field with nice plays designed for short passes and off-tackle runs. A nice nine-play drive in the first quarter netted seven points as QB Dillon Gabriel found TE David Njoku, who fell into the end zone. That drive began at the five-yard line. After the Ronnie Hickman interception, new play-caller Tommy Rees wasted no time and called a 22-yard pass into the end zone on first down, which was cradled by WR Jerry Jeudy to tie the game at 14-all. The past play-caller would have used five minutes and eight plays to get six. Then, with just 45 seconds before halftime, the Browns’ offense moved the ball down methodically using pinpoint passes to get to the Jets’ 22-yard line. Two incompletions and an untimely sack ended any chance of a touchdown, but Cleveland did get three points out of the abbreviated drive.

gettyimages-2243441045.jpg

Fire drill – This was absolutely crazy. For one, it was questionable why head coach Kevin Stefanski used his last time out with 27 seconds left after QB Dillon Gabriel had hit WR Jerry Jeudy to New York’s 37. What followed were two incomplete passes, which both stopped the clock. But then Jets DE Will McDonald sacked Gabriel at the 27, and the down was now fourth-and-27. Out ran the field goal team, and with one second left, Szmyt hit the 45-yarder with ease. Several conditions made this a fantastic play. For one, Gabriel knew the down instead of jumping up and spiking the ball. Secondly, the entire field goal team is not as simple as bringing on the holder and kicker and go. There are numerous players from the offense that go off while their replacements must run on. #3: The offensive players from the play before have to know to get off the field pronto without any lollygagging. And finally, the long snapper has to be able to know that he has to get the snap off in a hurry, whether the holder is completely set or not. Oh, and finally, finally, the kicker has zero time to think about it.

_____________________________________________________________________________

FROWNIES

LT Cam Robinson – Are you kidding? Robinson looked like this was the first game he had ever played. He was absolutely the worst player on the field for both teams. He had no answer for EDGE rusher McDonald, who has a tremendous first step and a great body lean. Backup OT Cornelius Lucas was inactive for the game, so the Browns were pretty much stuck with Robinson. Four sacks on Robinson, along with five QB hits.

imagn-27546014.jpg

And how many more should he have gotten? It began in the second quarter (11:38) when McDonald just blew by Robinson on a third-and-15. Two possessions later, as Gabriel dropped back to pass on another third-and-long, McDonald faked an outside move, then swung inside untouched. And why did the Browns kick a field goal right before the half after getting to the Jets’ 22-yard line? Yep, McDonald sacked Gabriel again on third down. So, what adjustments did the offense make to give Robinson some help? A running back in the slot on that left side? A tight end to chip him every down? Move a player like LG Joel Bitonio out to play tackle, his natural position in college? Nope. Just wished Robinson well. In the third quarter, going for it on fourth-and-one? Gabriel went back to pass, dodged one defender, and into the waiting arms of McDonald. With 8:05 left in this period, Gabriel was flushed because McDonald had beaten Robinson again.

RT Jack Conklin – Conklin’s day was not as awful as Robinson’s, but the veteran did not have a good game. On running plays, he was able to get some open space, but in passing downs, he looked really bad. A sack by DE Jermaine Johnson in the fourth quarter, Conklin was bull rushed and almost ran into Gabriel himself.

Browns jump offside to secure the draft position tiebreaker. pic.twitter.com/qKpMVm1LYt

— Jonathan Smith (@DegenerateTBone) November 9, 2025

Stupid mistakes – Browns’ defense had stopped the Jets on a third-and-16 with 1:50 left in the game and expecting a punt, except LB Devin Bush held TE Mason Taylor when it was clear New York wasn’t throwing the ball, so that an incompletion wouldn’t stop the clock. The fourth-and-one play with 10:30 left. Wouldn’t three points have made more sense? RB Jerome Ford’s drop at the Jets’ 13-yard line that might have scored and ended up a field goal instead. The third-and-six play at the 11-yard line with 3:37 left, and Gabriel hits WR Cedric Tillman on a three-yard route. Would running a seven-yard route make more sense? Not getting Robinson help on every single play once they realized he was mismatched and helpless.

Special teams – If you have wondered how teams could even score on this XFL kickoff because players are so bunched up to begin with, the Jets showed Cleveland fans how to do it. Then, on the Browns’ next possession and a nice 45-yard punt by Corey Bojorquez, down the right sideline for a touchdown, shocked everyone. If you have the Jets defense on your fantasy team, then a banner day for you. On that kickoff for New York, KR Dylan Sampson muffed the ball, which went into the end zone for a touchback to start at the 20 instead of the usual close to the 30-yard line. Bojorquez had a good day, but had seven punts. He averaged 50.1 yards per kick.

2025 season – Now sitting at 2-7-0, isn’t it time to begin playing our second teamers and plan for next April’s NFL draft? Losing to the one-win Jets, who traded away multiple blue-chip players, pretty much summarizes what type of ballclub the Browns are. Even though they have an outside shot of maybe a division title, only because the other teams in the division aren’t tearing up the league, does anyone see this roster as a playoff-caliber squad? One of the worst offenses in the league with a defense that plays its butt off each week.

gettyimages-2242436066.jpg

Time to see what Cleveland has to get ready for this year’s draft. Start playing guys like OG Zak Zinter, OG/C Luke Wypler, QB Shedeur Sanders, S Donovan McMillon, DT Adin Huntington, LB Easton Mascarenas-Arnold, WR Malachi Corley, and OG Teven Jenkins. Maybe bring up some practice squad guys each week and play them, like TE Sal Cannella, WR Luke Floriea, OT Thayer Munford, CB Dee Williams, and LB Eugene Asante. The front office will need to know if these guys are part of the future and what direction to go in.

_____________________________________________________________________________

Milk Bones – What’s the plan today, coach?

DE Cameron Thomas – He was the first defender to miss KR Kene Nwangwu on the kickoff return for a touchdown. His sack in the second quarter on the second-and-goal changed the Jets’ approach to either going for a touchdown or getting the three points instead. His knuckleheaded offsides at the end of the game changed the Jets’ approach to punting or going into the victory formation.

Diving catch by Jerry Jeudy!

CLEvsNYJ on CBS/Paramount+https://t.co/HkKw7uXVnt pic.twitter.com/IdJaUjW4V8

— NFL (@NFL) November 9, 2025

WR Jerry Jeudy – Made several great catches, including the touchdown in the end zone on first down. Converted a key first down in the third quarter on a third-and-seven as the ball flipped up and he secured it. Not a banner day, but consistent. Finished with 12 targets, six catches for 78 yards, a 13.0 yard per reception average, and one touchdown.

LB Carson Schwesinger – Absolutely amazing that he was playing in this game after the injury he endured should have been for a much longer rehab. Just showed guts and determination for such a young player. Then guess what? He led all defenders with 10 total tackles. With 4:20 left in the game, it was Schwesinger who rushed and nailed QB Justin Fields as he was handing off the ball.

S Ronnie Hickman – Made a great play on the interception, which led to seven points. Made a great tackle on RB Breece Hall early in the fourth quarter after Hall had gained 30 yards and had nobody but Hickman in front of him. Finished with four tackles.

2 guys are open in the flat and Dillon Gabriel takes a sack on 4th down.

The Dillon Gabriel era is over. #Brownspic.twitter.com/lBhoIzPS60

— 𝐃𝐞𝐱 (@OldSchool_NFL) November 9, 2025

QB Dillon Gabriel – Was in some sort of funk in the first half as he threw into the turf twice and overthrew two receivers. He had several good scrambles, including the third-and-four conversion in the first quarter, and He threw behind an open WR Jerry Jeudy midway in this quarter that should have gained good yardage. The TD pass after the interception was spot on and in a place where either Jeudy grabbed it or it would fall incomplete. Nice touch to TE George Fannin in the third quarter that gained 24 yards, but then he threw a pass intended for Tillman that went right into the hands of CB Jarvis Brownlee, who luckily dropped it. On the next play, Gabriel overthrew Tillman and was then sacked. To be fair, the Jets’ pass rush was just too much for the offensive line, and Gabriel was under duress for most of the game. Finished going 17-32 for 167 yards with two touchdowns, zero interceptions, was sacked six times, and had a QB rating of 88.9.

DE Myles Garrett – Was pretty much the invisible man all game. The one sack, he beat LT Olu Fashanu soundly with an outside move, but he was pretty quiet. Three tackles, one QB, one sack, and…..wait, that’s it?

Browns hot seats for GM Andrew Berry, HC Kevin Stefanski: Arguments for either, neither and both

gettyimages-2223708392.jpg

When it comes to the Cleveland Browns power pair of GM Andrew Berry and HC Kevin Stefanski, hot-seat conversations are appropriate. They have been discussed among the fan base and media since last season, but have escalated since the departure of Paul DePodesta and, now, with the loss to the one-win New York Jets in Week 10.

DePodesta’s role was always a discussion point because we never really knew the exact power that he held. Many believed he was primarily responsible for the hiring of both Berry and Stefanski. Those two aren’t the only ones with hot seats in Cleveland, but they are the biggest decision makers.

Despite being seen, according to a report, similar to Mike Vrabel and Andy Reid, Stefanski’s tenure seems more tenuous, with a variety of options to replace him, than Berry’s. Most point to the Browns struggles on offense (which is a putrid unit) for why Stefanski should be let go, but everyone would also agree that the offensive line is suspect, the quarterback options are less than ideal, and the team lacks difference makers on the outside to open up the defense and make everything else work.

Those things go in Berry’s column.

The high-quality 2025 NFL draft is often used as the reason Cleveland might keep their general manager around longer than their head coach. DT Mason Graham, LB Carson Schwesinger, RB Quinshon Judkins, and TE Harold Fannin Jr. have all proven to be very good players at their positions as rookies. In taking stock, it is also important to note that none of those players play a premium position (i.e., the more valuable, harder to come by ones):

  • Quarterback
  • Wide receiver
  • Offensive tackle
  • Pass rushing defensive end (or elite pass rushing defensive tackle)
  • Cornerback

Drafting very good players at lesser positions only works if you can also draft very good players at the premium positions. Perhaps Berry will get the chance to do so in the 2026 NFL draft, but is his 2025 draft class really the game-changer in the big picture to keep him around?

In the end, Browns owner Jimmy Haslam should be deciding between neither or both. Either the team is clearly executing a plan that was put in place prior to the season, with the expectation being a lot of losses, no matter how painful, or Berry and Stefanski should be let go. From everything we have heard, the plan has continued to be to keep both heading into next season.

Does the Week 10 loss and 2-7 record with multiple winnable games not going their way change things? If it does, Cleveland could once again be moving on from a whole regime.

Where do you stand on this “Overreaction Monday,” either, neither, or both with Berry and Stefanski?

NFL free agency: Former Browns free agent bust back on the market, quickly

gettyimages-2192302854.jpg

When the Cleveland Browns signed FS Juan Thornhill during the 2023 NFL free agency period, many believed the team got a huge upgrade at a vital position. Thornhill was brought in to replace S John Johnson III, who failed as a big free agent addition and was released a couple of years after signing in Cleveland.

Little did anyone know, but Thornhill would follow in Johnson’s footsteps as a free agent bust for the Browns.

After being released this offseason, Thornhill decided to stay in the AFC North, signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers. A few months later, the Steelers put a lot of faith in Thornhill and the rest of their safety room when they traded away Minkah Fitzpatrick to acquire Jalen Ramsey.

Thornhill was defensive of his time in Cleveland, saying that his film “had a lot of good plays” and that he “was very productive in that defense.” In two seasons, Thornhill played in just 22 games, had four passes defended, 103 tackles, three QB hits, one tackle for loss, and zero interceptions, sacks, forced fumbles, or fumble recoveries.

Pro Football Focus graded Thornhill at 66.5 and 65.5 overall in his two seasons with the Browns.

His time in Pittsburgh has been worse, including a 36.9 grade, and the Steelers released the former Kansas City Chiefs star halfway through the season:

The #Steelers have released veteran S Juan Thornhill, per me and @MikeGarafolo, and he now heads to waivers for a fresh start. If he clears, he’ll be a free agent. pic.twitter.com/4bvnC5pO3h

— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) November 10, 2025

In nine games this year, Thornhill had one start and accumulated 38 tackles, one pass defended, one fumble recovery, and one tackle for loss.

Given how bad the Cincinnati Bengals defense has been, it will be interesting if Thornhill continues his tour of the AFC North with a chance to play on three of the four teams in the same calendar year. With Thornhill’s release coming after the NFL trade deadline, the safety must first clear waivers before potentially signing with another team.

2026 NFL draft order: Browns, Jaguars slot heading into Week 11

gettyimages-2245894378.jpg

Last week, the Cleveland Browns lost positioning in the 2026 NFL draft order despite being on a bye week. As we noted after the pathetic performance by the Browns in Week 10, the NFL draft is the only place for hope for Cleveland fans heading into Week 11. Prior to the Browns versus the New York Jets, data showed that the loser of the matchup would have a huge advantage in the fight for the top overall selection in the upcoming NFL draft.

Cleveland is that team, now, especially as big underdogs going into a home matchup with the Baltimore Ravens in Week 11. There are still a lot of teams that could be considered on “tank watch” for the season, but following Week 10’s results, the Browns are currently slotted as the fourth overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft order.

The selection they received from the Jacksonville Jaguars, from the Travis Hunter trade, is still 19th in the order, but the Jaguars seem to be falling apart a bit.

Here is the current order, per Tankathon:

2026 NFL draft order – Top 20 heading into Week 11

  1. Tennessee Titans: 1-8
  2. New Orleans Saints: 2-8
  3. New York Giants: 2-8
  4. Cleveland Browns: 2-7 (SOS tiebreaker: .469)
  5. New York Jets: 2-7 (.509)
  6. Las Vegas Raiders: 2-7
  7. Miami Dolphins: 3-7
  8. Washington Commanders: 3-6
  9. Cincinnati Bengals: 3-6
  10. Atlanta Falcons: 3-6 (Goes to Los Angeles Rams)
  11. Arizona Cardinals: 3-6
  12. Dallas Cowboys: 3-5-1
  13. Baltimore Ravens: 4-5
  14. Minnesota Vikings: 4-5
  15. Houston Texans: 4-5
  16. Carolina Panthers: 5-5
  17. Kansas City Chiefs: 5-4
  18. San Francisco 49ers: 6-4
  19. Jacksonville Jaguars: 5-4 (Goes to the Browns)
  20. Pittsburgh Steelers: 5-4

Cleveland has a tough game in Week 11 before two easier matchups after that. Jacksonville has the Cardinals, Jets and Colts (twice) left on its schedule, which could make its path to the NFL playoffs much easier.

What spot do you think the Browns will be selecting when the 2026 NFL draft rolls around in April?

Browns roster: 4 moves on Tuesday, all on the defensive side of the ball

imagn-24665579.jpg

Cleveland Browns fans are unhappy with the state of the team, the offense in particular and the regime of GM Andrew Berry and HC Kevin Stefanski in general. The organization has done nothing to address any of those things since dealing away QB Joe Flacco and CB Greg Newsome in trades and adding OT Cam Robinson and CB Tyson Campbell.

At least QB Dillon Gabriel is up for an award this week because the Browns continue to not make any moves around their struggling offense or even their putrid special teams.

Instead, we saw four moves to Cleveland’s roster on Tuesday, all of them on the defensive side of the ball. The Browns waived CB Trey Avery from the 53-man roster and released DT Simeon Barrow Jr. from the practice squad. Berry did not immediately replace Avery on the roster but signed DEs KJ Henry and Ochaun Mathis to the practice squad.

Henry has been on and off Cleveland’s rosters this year, while Mathis worked out for the team on Friday, along with five other defenders. Our note on Mathis from the news of his workout:

LB Ochaun Mathis – A 6th-round pick in 2023, Mathis has played in 14 games in two seasons with three different teams, with over 100 snaps on defense and almost 300 snaps on special teams

While Mathis was listed as a linebacker previously, the Browns noted his position as a defensive end for the team.

2026 NFL draft, free agency: 10 teams could be in the market for a starting quarterback next year

imagn-27535455.jpg

There are two schools of thought when it comes to building an NFL roster: A) Get the quarterback, work everything else out or B) Build the roster, especially the lines, so whatever QB you get is set up for success. Like most “or” questions, the answer is probably somewhere in between.

For the Cleveland Browns, it isn’t all about the quarterback, but that is the golden goose the team has been chasing for decades. Whether GM Andrew Berry and/or HC Kevin Stefanski will get to be the ones to make those key decisions is still up in the air. Getting past the Deshaun Watson trade has to be a priority for the team.

The 2026 NFL draft has some interesting quarterbacks, but we are far from locking in who will actually declare for the draft and deserve to be selected high.

Based on how the season has gone so far, as well as projecting ahead, there are currently 10 teams that could be in the market for quarterbacks next season. Not all of the following will, for sure, need a new starting quarterback but if they did, not all of them will find answers in the upcoming NFL draft.

2026 NFL draft order – Current slot for QB-needy teams

  • New Orleans Saints – #2 pick
  • Cleveland Browns – #4, 19
  • New York Jets – #5
  • Las Vegas Raiders – #6
  • Miami Dolphins – #7
  • Los Angeles Rams – #10, 27
  • Arizona Cardinals – #11
  • Pittsburgh Steelers – #20
  • Jacksonville Jaguars – #52
  • Indianapolis Colts – #64

Of the list, really only the Browns, Jets and Steelers seem to be certain to be looking for a new starter. Even then, New York is rumored to want to wait for the 2027 NFL draft class but will still, likely, need a new starter next year.

The Saints are seeing what they have in second-round pick Tyler Shough, the Raiders traded for and extended Geno Smith this offseason, the Dolphins have a huge contract with Tua Tagovailoa, the health of Matthew Stafford leaves his future up in the air year to year, and the Cardinals seem likely to move on from Kyler Murray.

The final two teams on the list are the least likely to be in the quarterback market, but are at least worth noting. Neither has its first-round pick, but are the Jaguars sold on Trevor Lawrence, and will Daniel Jones’ fairytale season come spiraling down? If they do, both teams will enter the market for a new quarterback while also adding two new names to the available players.

If not in the NFL draft, NFL free agency could provide some opportunities, but who can afford a starting-level quarterback, no matter who is actually available?

Projected 2026 Salary Cap Space for QB-needy teams

According to Over the Cap, this is the current cap space for the 10 teams noted above. We know there are lots of ways to create cap space, but that would be up to the teams to do in order to fit a significant quarterback contract in.

  • Saints: -12.2 million (currently over the cap)
  • Browns: -2.7 million (currently over the cap)
  • Jets: 99.2 million
  • Raiders: $107 million
  • Dolphins: -10.6 million (currently over the cap)
  • Rams: $87.6 million
  • Cardinals: $32.5 million
  • Steelers: $39.8 million
  • Jaguars: $7.2 million
  • Colts: $47.6 million

The Los Angeles Rams are perfectly set up whether Stafford retires or not. Two first-round picks and almost $90 million in cap space. New Orleans, Cleveland and Miami having bad records and negative cap space means those three need to find their next quarterback in the NFL draft if possible, while rebuilding a younger roster.

QBs set to hit the free agent market in 2026

To be frank, this list is never going to look strong. Even if a quarterback could become available, it is rare that a team allows that QB to get to the final year of their deal.

  • Daniel Jones
  • Aaron Rodgers
  • Russell Wilson
  • Marcus Mariota
  • Tyrod Taylor
  • Zach Wilson
  • Joe Flacco
  • Kenny Pickett
  • Jimmy Garoppolo
  • Mitch Trubisky
  • Case Keenum
  • Trey Lance
  • Carson Wentz
  • Malik Willis

While losing is never good, the number of teams that might need quarterbacks, the Browns lack of cap space, the team’s two first-round picks, and the very limited free agent market show that Cleveland may be better off, in the long term, by losing as many games as possible. If the Browns top pick can be used on a quarterback, the team will have another first-round pick and a high second-round pick to help surround them with valuable players at premium positions.

Cleveland’s 2025 draft class added some very good players to support a future quarterback, but now the team needs to get that guy and support him even more with assets used on the offensive line and wide receiver as well. The competition could be fierce or the best-case scenario for the Browns would be:

  • Shough looking great for the Saints
  • Jets waiting for the 2027 draft
  • Raiders sticking with Smith and Pete Carroll
  • Dolphins sticking with Tagovailoa and Mike McDaniel
  • Stafford staying healthy, signing for a few more years with the Rams
  • Cardinals sticking with either Jacoby Brissett or Murray for another season
  • Rodgers doing well enough for Mike Tomlin to want to keep him around for another year or Will Howard impressing the Steelers behind the scenes enough for them to pass
  • Jaguars stick with Lawrence
  • Colts stick with Colts

A few of those are likely to happen, but can Cleveland’s luck change just enough to give them their choice of quarterbacks in this year’s draft?

How many teams do you think will be looking for a quarterback this offseason? Do you believe the Browns need to force getting one high in the NFL draft?

Browns vs Ravens injuries: Lamar Jackson’s knee concern, 6 Ravens not practicing

imagn-27086351.jpg

The Cleveland Browns are deservedly big underdogs heading into Week 11’s matchup with the Baltimore Ravens. All of that could change if QB Lamar Jackson is unable to play on Sunday with his lingering knee issue. Jackson left the Ravens Week 4 game against the Kansas City Chiefs and did not return until Week 9. In the last two games, Jackson has returned but has been limited in running the football with an average of under 3.5 yards per carry.

Baltimore has won three in a row, including one with former Browns QB Tyler Huntley starting, after losing four straight. In Week 2, the Ravens blew out Cleveland 41-17 despite RB Derrick Henry being limited to just 23 yards on 11 carries. Jackson threw for four touchdowns while QB Joe Flacco turned the ball over twice.

The first injury report for Week 11 had six from Baltimore sitting out, while just one Cleveland player was unable to practice:

Browns Injury Report

  • LB Jerome Baker – Achilles – Limited
  • OL Joel Bitonio – Rest – Limited
  • WR Isaiah Bond – Foot – Limited
  • TE Harold Fannin Jr. – Hamstring – Limited
  • DE Myles Garrett – Rest – Limited
  • OL Cornelius Lucas – Back – Limited
  • TE David Njoku – Rest – Limited
  • LB Carson Schwesinger – Shoulder – Limited
  • WR Cedric Tillman – Glute – Limied
  • CB Denzel Ward – Rest – Limited
  • DE Alex Wright – Quad – Limited

Ravens Injury Report

  • WR Rashod Bateman – Ankle – DNP
  • LB Jay Higgins – Knee – DNP
  • RB Justice Hill – Toe – DNP
  • CB Marlon Humphrey – Finger – DNP
  • QB Lamar Jackson – Knee – DNP
  • TE Isaiah Likely – Hip – Limited
  • RB Keaton Mitchell – Knee – Limited
  • S Malaki Starks – Knee – Limited

Jackson practiced all of last week, so the knee issue is something to watch.

Would you give Cleveland much of a chance if Baltimore doesn’t have Jackson at QB?

Browns history: Comparing bad QB decisions

imagn-27195855.jpg

Two of the biggest mistakes the Cleveland Browns organization has made in the franchise’s history are both at quarterback: the drafting of Johnny Manziel and the trade for Deshaun Watson. Both decisions had massive ripple effects on the team’s ability to succeed, but which one appears to be more detrimental long-term?

While the Manziel era was an unpleasant time in Cleveland, Watson’s situation is much more damaging to the franchise long-term. The financial and cultural impacts influenced both the team’s potential for improvement in other areas and the way the organization is perceived throughout the league.

The Browns committed their future to him with a fully guaranteed $230 million contract, significantly impacting the team’s salary cap. They also gave up significant draft assets – six total picks, including three first-round picks – which has hindered their ability to bring in young talent. Those effects become more apparent with each passing season, especially when examining position groups like the offensive line. Early picks in the draft are often used on the group, and Cleveland had multiple years where it was challenging to improve at the position.

Both players brought a negative cloud over the Browns’ organization. Manziel’s immaturity and behavioral issues caused others to view them as an unserious organization. The Watson trade was a PR disaster that caused fans to question ownership, the front office, and whether or not they wanted to continue supporting this team. While both had a negative effect culturally, it appears that Watson’s impact is much more long-lasting.

Let me know what you think in the comments – Was Manziel or Watson more detrimental to the Browns long-term? If you feel like the difference is stark, how much worse is one versus the other?

Browns vs Ravens injuries: Lamar Jackson knee update, 5 still not practicing

imagn-27086351.jpg

The Cleveland Browns three coordinators might be saying all the right things heading into Week 11 versus the Baltimore Ravens, but the home team is a huge underdog for lots of reasons. Browns fans had some hope when Ravens QB Lamar Jackson missed practice on Wednesday.

That hope all but faded on Thursday when Jackson was a full participant in practice (changes noted in bold):

  • WR Isaiah Bond – Foot – Limited
  • OT Jack Conklin – Rest – Added as Limited
  • TE Harold Fannin Jr. – Hamstring – Limited

Browns vs Ravens injury reports: 5 ruled out, 3 questionable; Lamar Jackson update

imagn-27082958.jpg

To start the week of practices heading into the AFC North matchup between the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens for Week 11, QB Lamar Jackson’s knee injury that kept him out of practice was the big story. Jackson returned to practice on Thursday for the Ravens and does not have an injury designation after Friday’s practices.

For the Browns, health was less of a concern, but the team is understandably a huge underdog heading into the divisional matchup at home. The questions around Cleveland are bigger ones including HC Kevin Stefanski’s hot seat and what fans should be rooting for the rest of the season.

Friday’s injury report saw two new issues for the home team as DT Maliek Collins was listed as limited with an oblique issue, and CB Denzel Ward did not practice due to something going on with his ribs. Baltimore ruled out four players after their final practice this week.

Browns Injury Report and Game Day Designations

  • DE Alex Wright – Quad – Out
  • DT Maliek Collins – Oblique – Questionable

Ward is not listed with a game day designation despite not practicing on Friday. Along with Collins, LB Carson Schwesinger was the only other player limited in the final practice.

Ravens Injury Report and Game Day Designations

  • WR Rashod Bateman – Ankle – Out
  • LB Jay Higgins IV – Knee – Out
  • RB Justice Hill – Toe – Out
  • CB Marlon Humphrey – Finger – Out
  • OLB Mike Green – Ankle – Questionable

Green was limited on Thursday, after being added to the injury report, and then did not practice on Friday at all. After missing Wednesday’s practice, Jackson was a full participant in the final two days of practice.

When Shedeur Sanders hits the field, Browns fans should have measured expectations

imagn-27545218.jpg

With the Cleveland Browns falling to 2-7 and the quarterback play being less than ideal, fans are wondering when we will see another quarterback get a shot. Any QB would do, but rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders is currently the backup to starter Dillon Gabriel. Despite what the stats say, Gabriel has been mostly ineffective and appears to be going backwards instead of progressing forward.

It doesn’t do any favors that the offense lacks any form of top-level talent, but Gabriel’s mistakes only make things more difficult. It’s bound to happen that Gabriel will likely be benched, even if that is not the current plan, but if he were to be benched, what would you expect if Sanders were to play?

To be blunt, not much.

Is Sanders a talented quarterback? Yes. However, he isn’t someone who is going to elevate an offense. For Sanders to have some form of success, the offense has to elevate him more so.

From what we were told, the reason why he wasn’t named the immediate backup after the team benched Joe Flacco for Dillon Gabriel was due to Sanders not having a grasp of the playbook. We saw some concerns in his second preseason game as well. Going from the offense that he ran in Colorado to the offense in Cleveland was a more daunting task than people want to admit, mostly due to the simplicity of the Buffalo game plan.

However, things have changed, and he has a better understanding of the offense than he did before the season.

Sanders will not raise the ceiling of the offense, but he can make the offense more functional on a down-to-down basis. He can get the ball out quickly, has a good arm, and is athletic enough to extend plays if given the opportunity, and he doesn’t try to escape backward from the pocket. The issue is that he will tend to hold onto the ball too long and will drift far too much while navigating the pocket. His pocket movement will be the focal point as he cannot hold onto the ball against defensive fronts that can generate pressure.

It’s going to be rough for Sanders (as for most rookies), but expecting him to light up the world is unrealistic expectations. The offense won’t look great, but Sanders will provide at least some form of consistency.

Browns elevate DT and newly acquired LB to active roster from practice squad

gettyimages-2187402452.jpg

The Browns have officially signed DT Sam Kamara and new LB Cameron McGrone to the active roster from the practice squad ahead of their clash against the Baltimore Ravens.

Kamara has been with the team on and off for the better part of four seasons, and he has proven to be a competent player at both defensive end and defensive tackle for Cleveland.

McGrone was just signed to the practice squad on November 5th, and should provide the team with solid special teams play on Sunday. Though his main focus will be on that right now, there’s a chance that he could contribute at MIKE or SAM as well in the near future.

The #Browns have elevated DT Sam Kamara and LB Cameron McGrone from the practice squad ahead of tomorrow's game against the Ravens.

— Camryn Justice (@camijustice) November 15, 2025

After that disaster of a special teams performance against the Jets, the Browns are choosing to elevate McGrone, who’s played in 26 career games for the Indianapolis Colts. 88% of his career snaps for the Colts came on special teams, so it’s safe to say that he could be an asset going forward in that role for Cleveland.

Browns 2026 NFL draft order rooting guide for Week 11

imagn-27578609.jpg

The Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens face off in their Week 11 matchup at the surprising time of 4:25 PM. Despite their losing record, the Ravens are fighting for the AFC North title and are the betting favorite to win it in most places. The Browns, on the other hand, are pretty much left with 2026 NFL draft order positioning and what the future of the team might look like.

Cleveland fans are well-versed in preparing for an upcoming NFL draft. The Browns once again have an extra first-round pick and a need for a franchise quarterback, unless Shedeur Sanders surprises.

In Week 11, here is how we are rooting (in bold below) for both Cleveland’s pick and the Jacksonville Jaguars.

2026 NFL draft Browns Pick Rooting Guide for Week 11

  • Dolphins vs Commanders – Miami, as an AFC team, makes some sense to root for in case they get hot, but Strength of Schedule is the primary NFL draft tiebreak, so a worse Dolphins team is better for Cleveland
  • Falcons vs Panthers – The three-win Atlanta team getting their fourth win is probably the most important thing in case the Browns schedule easing up leads to an extra win or two
  • Bears vs Vikings – Strictly for SOS tiebreaker reasons, we are rooting for Chicago
  • Giants vs Packers – Will New York get the interim coach bump or will Green Bay bounce back? The Giants getting their third victory with Jameis Winston at quarterback would be helpful to his former team, the two-win Cleveland Browns
  • Bengals vs Steelers – Never easy to root for either of these teams, but Cincinnati winning keeps Joe Burrow’s return on the table and moves the Bengals to four wins
  • Titans vs Texans – The biggest game on the schedule, Houston is without CJ Stroud again, but Tennessee has already fired its coach and only has one victory. The Browns and Titans face off later in the season, but any Tennessee win is a win for Cleveland right now
  • Cardinals vs 49ers – Arizona getting a fourth win takes them off Cleveland’s radar for a bit
  • Raiders vs Cowboys – Las Vegas being a mess this season is one of the bigger surprises. Currently tied with the Browns, a Raiders victory would be helpful this week for Cleveland’s draft positioning

2026 NFL draft Jaguars Pick Rooting Guide for Week 11

Important to note, Cleveland’s pick is the priority, given how high it could be, while getting Jacksonville’s closer to the top 10 would be helpful, but will always take a backseat in the priority list.

  • Chargers vs Jaguars – Obviously, the more Jacksonville loses, the better. Currently slotted in with a wild card spot, the Browns are rooting for a huge drop by the Jaguars
  • Bills vs Bucs – Keeping Buffalo’s pick ahead of Jacksonville here with the Bills seventh victory
  • Chiefs vs Broncos – Kansas City is currently just behind Jacksonville for the last wild card spot, a Chiefs win and a Jaguars loss would flip that and move Jacksonville close to a Top 15 selection

Are you already focused on watching the results of the other games for NFL draft reasons or do you wait to do so until later in the season?
