Blues lose key forward for playoff push

St. Louis Blues fans are experiencing what they hope is the best case of deja vu ever. The team (42-28, 91 points) is following a similar blueprint to the one that led to it winning its first Stanley Cup championship nearly six years ago. A midseason coaching change, an invigorating 11-game winning streak and impressive play from goaltender Jordan Binnington could be the common denominators of the most stirring moments this franchise has ever experienced. Blues forward Dylan Holloway suffered a lower-body injury during the squad's milestone victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday night and is considered week-to-week, per president of hockey operations and general manager Doug Armstrong.

Preview: Blues vs. Avalanche

BLUES The St. Louis Blues (42-28-7) have made history again. With their 5-4 overtime win against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday, the team set a new franchise record with their 10th consecutive home win and tied a franchise record with their 11th straight win overall. The 11-game mark has been reached just once before by the Blues - when it was originally set from Jan. 23-Feb. 19 of 2019. It also shares the longest win streak in the NHL this season with Winnipeg and is the longest active win streak.

Zizing 'Em Up: Blues being rewarded for sticking together at Trade Deadline

The most remarkable aspect of the St. Louis Blues' franchise-record 12-game winning streak is just how close management came to shaking up the roster. When the NHL regular season resumed Feb. 22 after the highly successful 4 Nations Face-Off, the struggling Blues were a sub-.500 team at 25-26-5 for 55 points, eight behind the Vancouver Canucks for the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Western Conference. With their postseason hopes dwindling, general manager Doug Armstrong admits St. Louis was strongly considering breaking up the band before the NHL Trade Deadline on March 7.

St. Louis Blues' dream, nightmare scenarios for 2025 NHL Playoffs

The Blues went on a franchise record 12-game winning streak, all but securing their place in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Can Jim Montgomery's squad make another run through the Western Conference? In 2019, the Blues fired Mike Yeo early in the season, hired Craig Berube, went on a franchise-record winning streak, and won the Stanley Cup.
