Buffalo Bills at Cleveland Browns Week 16 odds, spread, betting info

gettyimages-1443398003.jpg

The Buffalo Bills (10-4) once again worked their second-half magic to steal away a huge 35-31 win over the New England Patriots, denying them a “hat and t-shirt game” at Buffalo’s expense. There may be no more dangerous a team than one led by quarterback Josh Allen and trailing at halftime. Though many have been surprised by their first-half struggles.

As with their Week 15 matchup in Foxborough, MA, the Bills enter Week 16 as a road favorite over their AFC opponent. Where last week’s odds represented a lot of uncertainty out of bettors, this week’s numbers tell of a different story expected to unfold on the southern Ohioan shore of Lake Erie when Buffalo takes on the Cleveland Browns (3-11).

Odds for Bills at Browns in NFL Week 16

Entering Week 16, FanDuel Sportsbook lists the Bills as 10.5-point (-10.5) road favorites over the Browns, with an over/under set at O/U 42.5. But that was during the late evening on Sunday, December 14.

Screenshot-2025-12-14-at-20-28-12-NFL-Odds-Betting-Lines-and-Point-Spreads-FanDuel-Sportsbook.png

The moneyline continues to change, where after opening at -670 for the Bills and +490 for the Browns — as of publishing, the current moneyline was at Bills -620 | Browns +460.

Screenshot-2025-12-15-at-16-29-33-NFL-Odds-Betting-Lines-and-Point-Spreads-FanDuel-Sportsbook.png

Expect the money line to continue shifting in the days leading up to Sunday’s kickoff, given the reactionary nature of bettors when they receive the latest NFL news. That could come perhaps as soon as this evening with news that Bills kicker Matt Prater will miss Week 16 due to a quadriceps injury.

Buffalo and Cleveland haven’t faced each other in the regular season since a 2023 game late in November — a game the Bills won 31-23. It was a home game for the Bills, but due to a massive snowstorm that dumped several feet of snow on that corner of Western New York, the game was moved to Ford Field, where the Detroit Lions call home in Michigan. Interestingly, it was the first of two consecutive games for Buffalo at Ford Field, with their second coming as the road team against the Lions on Thanksgiving Day of 2022.

The Bills and Browns have played 23 games all-time (includes one postseason game), dating back to November 1972 and the original iteration of the AFC’s Cleveland Browns. Cleveland holds a 13-10-0 edge over Buffalo, and the teams have split their series 1-1 since head coach Sean McDermott and quarterback Josh Allen landed at One Bills Drive.

The Bills and Browns face off at 1 p.m. EST on Sunday, December 21 in Huntington Bank Stadium.

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Miami Dolphins Week 15 ‘MNF’ fan discussion

gettyimages-2252106372.jpg

So you like current trends, you say? Things such as six seven, perhaps? Well, have we got a Monday Night Football surprise for you! The 6-7 Miami Dolphins are in the Steel City to take on the 7-6 Pittsburgh Steelers in primetime. The internet might explode. Maybe… could also be mid. Yet, could it get any better?!

Okay getting down to brass tax, what about Buffalo Bills playoff-related rooting interests? We outlined all of those in detail here ahead of Week 15, but the move tonight is to root on the Steelers to victory over the Dolphins. So… why is that true? As Rachel Auberger pointed out…

“First, the Bills hold the tiebreaker over the Steelers. Second, Miami is trying to sneak back into the playoffs, and, well, I just don’t want to see that happen. Third (and maybe most importantly) a Pittsburgh win makes a January trip to Baltimore less and less likely regardless of what Lamar Jackson and the Ravens do.”

So there you have it. With that, here’s your open thread for Week 15 of Monday Night Football. Are you ready for some football? As always, be kind to one another — and in all things… Go Bills!

Buffalo Bills LB Matt Milano balled out against New England Patriots

imagn-27816148.jpg

The Buffalo Bills entered Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots in need of a win to keep their slim hopes of an AFC East Division title alive. After 24 minutes of play, Buffalo trailed 21-0. Things did not look good. A Bills touchdown stabilized things a bit, but the Patriots answered with a field goal before the half to give themselves a 24-7 lead at intermission.

And then, Buffalo just flipped a switch and dominated the game. The Bills scored on their first four second-half possessions, taking a 28-24 lead and wrestling control of the game back. After allowing a long touchdown run to TreVeyon Henderson, his second score of 50-plus yards on the day New England retook the lead. However, Buffalo’s offense could not be stopped, and they scored again to give themselves the 35-31 lead, a lead they would not relinquish.

A game like that one is not something most cardiologists would recommend, but for the Bills, the outcome was exactly what the doctor ordered. Buffalo sits a game back of the Patriots, who still own the tiebreaker at present, but they are now within striking distance of another AFC East crown.

It took some genuinely Herculean efforts from multiple players on the Bills’ roster to pull the team out of a 21-point hole, and many of those players directly involved with the comeback were among our five players to watch this week.

Here’s how our fivesome fared in last Sunday’s victory.
_____________________________________________________________________________

QB Josh Allen

When looking at Allen’s total numbers (19-of-28 passing for 193 yards with three touchdowns; 48 rushing yards on 11 carries), a boxscore scout might suggest that it wasn’t any sort of special day for Buffalo’s quarterback. However, three of the Bills’ offensive possessions started in New England territory — shoutout to outstanding kickoff return man Ray Davis — which meant that the Bills didn’t have much ground to cover on three big drives.

More importantly, I’m less concerned with an Allen day that doesn’t see many passing yards when it involves a clean sheet. If this Bills team wins the turnover battle, they’re nearly indestructible, so watching Allen take what the defense gave him time and again was a thing of beauty.

He also made a few throws that were just absurd. One came on a fourth down, as he placed a slightly-underthrown ball right into Khalil Shakir’s bread-basket. Marcus Jones interfered with Shakir, and he and many Patriots fans need to brush up on the rules about simultaneous possession, but when both men had the ball on the ground at the same time, it was correctly ruled a 37-yard completion and a first down.

Allen also threw an absolute dart to Dawson Knox on a 3rd & Goal from the 15 for his third and final touchdown pass of the day. Allen hit James Cook III on a Joe Brady special — mesh traffic, AKA “slither” — to open the scoring for the Bills in the second quarter. He also hit Knox for a touchdown off a play-action fake to open the second-half scoring, a play which brought Buffalo to within 10 points at 24-14 early in the third quarter.

In what many have considered a “down” year for the reigning NFL MVP, all Allen has done is throw for 25 touchdowns, run for 12 more, pass for 3,276 yards, run for 535 more, and complete a career-high 70% of his passes. If only everyone’s “down” years were so good. Allen currently sits at 299 career combined touchdowns, and he’s also 290 passing yards away from becoming the second player in franchise history to pass for 30,000 yards in his career.

RB James Cook III

I wrote that Cook’s lack of success was one of the biggest issues I had with the game between these two teams in October, and through the first half, it looked like the game script might necessitate Cook fading to the background yet again. Trailing by 21, though, the Bills stuck with the run and stuck with their star running back, as well.

Cook carried seven times for 32 yards in the first half, adding two receptions for four yards, including the aforementioned touchdown catch. Knowing that the Bills were down for most of the game, it’s pretty cool to note that Cook carried it 15 times in the second half, gaining 75 yards and scoring twice, including one diving score where he somehow kept himself off the ground while crossing the goal-line. It was a very similar display of acrobatics to his fourth-down score in the AFC Championship Game last season against the Kansas City Chiefs. Cook also saw one more target in the passing game, but he was unable to catch it.

He finished his day with 22 rushes for 107 yards and those two touchdowns to go with two catches for four yards and another score. For the year, Cook has 1,415 rushing yards, which is the sixth-highest total for a single season in team history. A 100-yard game on Sunday will put him into O.J. Simpson territory, as “Juice” is the only player in Bills’ history to rush for 1,500 yards or more in a season, and he did it thrice. Cook would pass Travis Henry, who rushed for 1,438 yards in 2002, and Thurman Thomas, who rushed for 1,487 yards in 1992, in the process.

TE Dalton Kincaid

Right position, wrong player. Kincaid was third of Buffalo’s three tight ends in terms of overall snaps, as he appeared on just 25 snaps, or 36% of the team’s offensive total.

He was productive in those snaps, catching three of his four targets for 34 yards. His biggest grab came on a clutch third-down conversion late in the third quarter.

Buffalo trailed 24-21 and had just stopped New England. Facing a 3rd & 7 from their own 12-yard line, Allen stepped up, fired over the middle, and hit Kincaid for a 24-yard gain to extend the drive. That ended with a 14-yard strike to tight end Dawson Knox to give the Bills a 28-24 advantage.

Buffalo’s tight ends as a group combined for seven catches, 80 yards, and two touchdowns on nine targets. It may not have been a huge day for Kincaid, but he was great when called upon.

LB Matt Milano

Talk about a throwback performance. I don’t think I’ve seen Milano play a game like that since his All-Pro season in 2022.

Milano led the Bills in tackles, totaling 10 on the afternoon. He was a menace in the passing game, serving as the mirror/fire blitz player for much of the afternoon. He sacked quarterback Drake Maye twice in that role, and on one of those sacks, he drove right through Henderson to take him into Maye before downing the second-year quarterback.

He even forced his first fumble of the year, leveling old friend Mack Hollins, jarring the ball loose on a play that ended when the ball flew directly out of bounds. He even delivered one of those “message” hits I mentioned to Stefon Diggs, belly-flopping onto him after a short catch in such a way that it shocked me there was no personal foul called.

Speaking of those, Milano was called for a personal foul in a sideline spat after he was punched in the face by running back Rhamondre Stevenson. Milano was active on New England’s tight ends in the pass game, as well. It was a welcome sign that Buffalo’s longest-tenured defensive player performed that well.

CB Taron Johnson

Look, I know what many of you meant when you wrote that leaving Johnson as the main man covering Stefon Diggs was a recipe for disaster. Part of me even agreed with those of you who assumed that Diggs would feast yet again.

Instead, though, Johnson turned back the clock and performed about as well as he has all season. Diggs didn’t see his first target until well into the second quarter, and that was because he was bracketed by a pair of linebackers in Dorian Williams and Shaq Thompson.

Diggs was able to beat Johnson once on a third-down crossing route for a big gain and a conversion, but for the most part, No. 7 was up to the challenge of handling No. 8 this week.

Johnson totaled five tackles in the game, and while I think his performance guarding Diggs was the most impressive part of his day, he was equally good when handling tight end Hunter Henry. Those two players combined for four catches and 44 yards receiving on the day, a far cry from the 12 catches and 192 yards they totaled, bolstered by Diggs’ 10 catches and 146 yards, in the game in October.

Credit the Bills’ defensive staff for coming up with a plan to slow those guys down, but credit some of Buffalo’s venerable veterans — I’ll include Tre’Davious White here, as well, given that he had his first interception of the season — for stepping up and shutting the Patriots down when they needed to most.

Buffalo Bills sign kicker Michael Badgley to practice squad in Week 16

gettyimages-2249100822.jpg

The Buffalo Bills have signed kicker Michael Badgley to the practice squad, just a day after news that revealed incumbent kicker Matt Prater would miss at least Buffalo’s Week 16 road game against the Cleveland Browns. Prater is considered week to week, dealing with a quadriceps injury suffered sometime between the Week 15 game at the New England Patriots and the head coach Sean McDermott’s Monday press conference with reporters.

The 30-year-old Badgley was previously with the Indianapolis Colts this season, having played in seven games before his release. With the Colt, Badgley went 1-of-1 from 20-29 yards, 3-of-3 from 30-39 yards, 4-of-4 from 40-49 yards, and 2-of-3 from 50-59 yards, totaling 10-of-11 made field goals with a long of 53 yards.

To make room for Badgley on the practice squad, One Bills Drive released cornerback M.J. Devonshire. With Prater’s injury listed at week-to-week, it’s likely the Bills have him inactive while calling up Badgley in the short term.

Buffalo Bills injuries: 4 players sidelined to start Week 16

gettyimages-2252256055.jpg

The Buffalo Bills won a big game Sunday and, in the process, did not pick up too many new injuries. In fact, they’re just dealing with two new injuries as Week 16 game prep gets under way. The problem, however, is that those are some big injuries.

Defensive tackle Jordan Phillips left Sunday’s win in Foxborough, MA early with an ankle injury. While he was initially seen on the sidelines with his ankle heavily taped, post-game the 33-year-old Phillips was seen in a walking boot. His nonparticipation on Wednesday comes as no surprise as Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott had announced on Monday that Phillips would not play this coming Sunday when the team heads to Cleveland.

Kicker Matt Prater was also not practicing. His injury was not apparent in-game, but on Monday, like Phillips, McDermott announced that Prater would be sidelined for Week 16 with a quad injury.

Despite the two big injuries, there was plenty of good news on Buffalo’s first injury report of the week.

Wednesday injury report pic.twitter.com/j2QjRkQaaE

— Buffalo Bills PR (@BuffaloBillsPR) December 17, 2025

To start, the Bills opened wide receiver Mecole Hardman, Jr.’ s practice window. After playing less than one full game as a Bill, the 27-year-old specialist has been on Injured Reserve with a calf injury. While according to the league’s timeline, Buffalo has three weeks to get the seven-year veteran back on the active roster, it’s possible that it could happen sooner than that.

The issue for Hardman is that, in his absence, the Bills signed wide receiver Brandin Cooks, added wide receiver Gabe Davis to the active roster, and have found that running back Ray Davis is a more-than-capable return man. Still, wide receiver Joshua Palmer has struggled to stay healthy and wide receiver Keon Coleman continues to underwhelm, so the possibility that Buffalo makes a roster change is very plausible.

Other good news included both cornerback Christian Benford and linebacker Terrell Bernard working with teammates today. Neither of the two played in Sunday’s win over the New England Patriots. Bernard has missed three-and-a-half games with a dislocated elbow. He was officially listed as questionable before Week 15 but didn’t make the final cut.

Benford, after having a two-week span that included two interceptions, a fumble recovery, two touchdowns, and a Defensive Player of the Week award, injured a toe in practice last week. Like Bernard, Benford entered last weekend questionable and wasn’t able to run well enough on his toe in pregame warmups to warrant wearing a uniform on Sunday.

There was one more piece of not-so-great news on the first injury report of the week. Tight end Dalton Kincaid’s nagging knee injury kept him out of work on Wednesday. Kincaid has been battling a knee injury for a year. It seemed to have quieted down over the offseason, but after working his way through a hamstring injury that occurred in Week 10, the knee injury resurfaced.

Last week, the third-year tight end was a full participant in every practice despite having the knee injury still listed. Now, as Week 16 opens, he’s inactive. This will be something to keep an eye on as the week progresses.

Bills fans chat about direction of the team after win over Patriots

imagn-27816613.jpg

Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NFL. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Bills fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.

We’ve asked it before, but we’re doing it again: Are the Buffalo Bills back? The Bills just handed the New England Patriots their first loss in 11 games, and have climbed back to within one game of a share in the AFC East lead. It’s still going to be a massive hill to climb to re-claim the East, especially now with the Miami Dolphins having benched quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

It’s quite likely that Buffalo’s loss earlier this to those Dolphins in South Beach ends up being the game they regret most, because there are few who believe Miami has a real chance at this point to make things interesting in Week 18 up in Foxborough, MA.

It’s the bed Buffalo’s made and, to be honest, it may not matter a great deal where the Bills slot in for this year’s playoffs. Sure, getting a bye is massive and now all but locked up for the Denver Broncos. The truth is that this season’s AFC playoff field might look quite different to Buffalo, and there’s every reason to believe that the Bills have just as good a shot to go all the way as in years past — maybe more.

That’s a pretty good place to be for the Buffalo Bills, no? Buffalo has games left against at the Cleveland Browns, and two home games to close the original Highmark Stadium against the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Jets. That’s not the worst position to be in during the holidays. Did Buffalo serve up a reality check to the rest of the NFL last weekend?

So tell us, are you confident the 10-4 Bills are headed in the right direction? Vote now!

Seattle Seahawks vs. Los Angeles Rams ‘TNF’ Week 16 fan discussion

imagn-27846102.jpg

It’s already Week 16, Rumblers! In reality, the weeks seem to blend into one another thanks to the primetime slate of games that fill the valley between weekends. With that, it’s time again for Thursday Night Football, and it’s a really good matchup this evening!

The Los Angeles Rams are (finally) up north in Washington State, and set to take on the Seattle Seahawks in an NFC West game with massive divisional and playoff implications. There were a few speed bumps on the way there, from flight hassles to head coach Sean McVay having to travel separately so as not to get the rest of the team sick. If you spend any time on Twitter (Yes, Elon, it will ALWAYS be Twitter.), you undoubtedly saw somewhere in the neighborhood of two dozen tweets by Adam Schefter chronicling the Rams’ strife like reality TV played out of social media.

Then late in the week, Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua made plenty of headlines this week and those situations are likely to be covered during tonight’s game. The Rams and Seahawks are both 11-3, and this matchup should feel every bit like a playoff game. The Rams won the first meeting this season back in Week 11, taking the Seahawks down 21-19. Will Seattle get their revenge tonight, and put a lid on LA’s explosive offense, even without wide receiver Davante Adams? Does Cooper Kupp get the better of his former team in Week 16? Who are you rooting for?

Here’s your open thread for Week 16 of Thursday Night Football. As always, be kind to one another — and in all things… Go Bills!

Buffalo Bills vs. Cleveland Browns all-time series history

gettyimages-1186759964.jpg

The Buffalo Bills (10-4) travel to Cleveland, OH looking for their third-straight win when the Bills face the Cleveland Browns (3-11) at 1 p.m. EST Sunday afternoon.

Before this Week 16 clash, let’s revisit the series history, relive some of the more memorable matchups, break down those common connections, and go through the list of players who played for both teams. Hint: there are 77 players who saw action for both the Bills and Browns.

gettyimages-1186759964.jpg

Bills vs. Browns series history

Sunday’s game will mark the 23rd meeting all time, with Cleveland holding a 13-10 lead in the series. The Browns won the first-ever matchup, 27-10 on November 26, 1972, but Buffalo picked up its first win in the rivalry two years later, knocking off Cleveland 15-10 on November 24, 1974 to improve to 8-3. That Bills team would go on to secure the franchise’s first playoff berth since joining the NFL in 1970 as part of the AFL-NFL merger.

Cleveland won seven of the next eight games, including a heartbreaker in the divisional round of the 1989 season. Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly passed for 405 yards with four touchdowns, but was picked off with the Bills driving for the go-ahead score late in the game as Buffalo fell 34-30.

The two teams split the next six games in the series, and the Bills have won five of the last seven matchups, including a 31-23 triumph on November 20, 2022, a game that was relocated to Detroit, MI after several feet of snow fell in Western New York.

In that matchup, quarterback Josh Allen and the Bills scored on all five second-half possessions, running backs James Cook III and Devin Singletary each ran for 86 yards (with Singletary scoring on a five-yard run), and kicker Tyler Bass made six field goals in the win. Linebackers Tyrell Dodson and Matt Milano combined for 25 total tackles, Milano added a sack, the Bills’ special teams blocked a field goal and the defense came up with a key stop on Jacoby Brissett’s quarterback sneak on 4th & 1 in the third quarter.

The Bills, who enjoyed leads of 28-10 and 31-16, allowed the Browns to pull within eight on Brissett’s two-yard touchdown toss to wides receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones with 19 seconds remaining, but running back Taiwan Jones knocked the ensuing onside kick out of bounds and Allen took a knee to seal the win.

It would be the first of back-to-back games in Detroit. Four days later, on Thanksgiving, the Bills defeated the Detroit Lions by a score of 28-25.

gettyimages-1443086375.jpg

Fun fact, Part 1: Don’t worry, Bills fans, I’m not going to torment you here with a recap of the worst football game I’ve ever seen in person, Buffalo’s 6-3 home loss to Cleveland on October 11, 2009. The Browns won despite starting quarterback Derek Anderson completing only 2-of-17 passes for 23 yards with an interception, becoming the first team to win a game when its quarterback completed two or fewer passes.

It was the end of a bizarre three-year stretch that saw the Bills drop three painful losses to the Browns from 2007-2009, and the pain all began back when the Bills traveled to Cleveland with their playoff chances still alive during the 2007 season.

That year, the Bills overcame an 0-3 start to enter Week 15 with a 7-6 record, earning “in the hunt” status as Buffalo searched for its first playoff berth since the 1999 season. The Bills and Browns (8-5) met at Cleveland Browns Stadium on a day where the wind was gusting at up to 40 miles per hour, and a blinding snowstorm settled over the area.

Buffalo saw its playoff chances crushed in the snow, as kicker Phil Dawson booted a pair of first-half field goals and the Browns tacked on a safety when punter Brian Moorman kicked an overthrown snap on a punt out of the end zone. The Bills lost 8-0, the first game in the NFL to end with that score since the 1929 NFL season.

Fun fact, Part 2: Bills fans will like this one. Buffalo pounded Cleveland 37-7 on December 12, 2004, in a game where Buffalo’s defense enjoyed a historic performance, limiting the Browns to only 26 total yards of offense, and minus-3 passing yards. Those are franchise records for fewest total yards of offense and passing yards allowed in a game, marks that may never be broken.

This was actually a game for the first quarter. Following a fumble by cornerback Nate Clements on a punt return, Cleveland took over at the Bills’ 18-yard line and took a 7-3 lead on quarterback Luke McCown’s three-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Dennis Northcutt, but it was all Buffalo from there.

The Bills scored 34 unanswered points, fueled by a ground game that amassed 215 rushing yards, with running back Willis McGahee accounting for 105 yards and scoring on a pair of touchdown runs to fuel the offense. Buffalo won despite quarterback Drew Bledsoe completing only 12-of-27 passes for 100 yards, including a seven-yard touchdown to wide receiver Lee Evans in the second quarter that gave the Bills the lead for good.

Quarterbacks McCown and Jeff Garcia combined to complete nine of their 21 pass attempts for 67 yards with two interceptions, but Buffalo’s defense registered seven sacks for 70 yards in losses, leading to the minus-3 passing yard figure. Sam Adams led the way on the sack brigade with a pair of takedowns, while Chris Kelsay, Aaron Schobel, Lawyer Milloy, Jeff Posey, and Troy Vincent each added sacks in the blowout. Vincent and Clements each added interceptions as part of an impressive showing for the Bills.

Buffalo’s run defense was equally impressive, limiting the Browns to 29 yards on 18 attempts as Cleveland had only six first downs.

The win was Buffalo’s fourth in a row during a run where the Bills would rattle off six straight wins before seeing their playoff chances dashed in a 29-24 home loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the regular-season finale.

Buffalo Bills injuries: TE Dalton Kincaid a full participant on Friday

gettyimages-2236324978.jpg

The Buffalo Bills were back practicing on Friday ahead of their Week 16 road game against the Cleveland Browns. After a concerning injury report on Thursday, the news on the final day of practice this week was encouraging.

The biggest news is that tight end Dalton Kincaid was back on the field as a full participant on Friday, just a day after being listed as “DNP.” In other words, Kincaid should be good to go on Sunday. The “DNP” designation out of Thursday’s session gave rise to some concern, but it appears much of the framework for it comes out of an abundance of caution by One Bills Drive. It’s wise to expect that if Kincaid feels any bit of discomfort or simply feels off regarding the knee, that the team will hold him out of contact practices the rest of this season.

As shared by ESPN Bills beat reporter Alaina Getzenberg, head coach Sean McDermott explained that “Kincaid’s knee injury did not experience a setback, but the team is managing the same injury.” McDermott also added that while Kincaid isn’t a lock for Sunday, it’s “certainly trending that way.”

Bills coach Sean McDermott said that tight end Dalton Kincaid's knee injury did not experience a setback, but the team is managing the same injury. Kincaid is practicing today and McDermott didn't say for sure that he is playing, but certainly trending that way.

— Alaina Getzenberg (@agetzenberg) December 19, 2025

Kincaid was one of three players who returned in full on Friday, with left tackle Dion Dawkins (illness) and cornerback Christian Benford (toe) the others.

As for those players sidelined for Friday’s practice session, both cornerback Taron Johnson (quad) and defensive tackle DaQuan Jones (calf) appear to have been given vet rest days. Three players who didn’t practice on Friday have been ruled out for Week 16. That list includes defensive tackle Jordan Phillips, kicker Matt Prater, and offensive tackle Chase Lundt.

Regarding Lundt, he has been placed on Injured Reserve, which now opens the door for Buffalo to bring wide receiver Mecole Hardman Jr. (questionable) or even newly signed edge rusher Matthew Judon up from the practice squad. However, with defensive back Cam Lewis also listed as questionable for Sunday, the Bills may opt to wait and see where numbers are most needed against the Browns.

If the move is to promote Hardman to the active roster, Buffalo must do so by 4 p.m. EST on Saturday if he’s part of game-day plans.

Buffalo Bills signing edge rusher Matthew Judon to practice squad

gettyimages-2236497398.jpg

Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane has long said that he always checks in on talented players. Even if that player is signed and content with their current team. But if said player is unhappy where they are or, even better, available in free agency after a recent release? Game on.

The latter of the two has allowed the Bills to reportedly sign edge rusher Matthew Judon to the team’s practice squad ahead of their Week 16 game against the Cleveland Browns. NFL insider Jordan Schultz was the first to report on Judon’s impending signing with One Bills Drive.

Orchard Park, NY will be the third stop on Matthew Judon’s NFL tour of the AFC East, and he brings a decorated defensive career along for the ride. One can think of far worse moves than signing a 10-year veteran defensive end with four seasons of proven playoff production to the practice squad.

That said, it’s worth wondering what Judon has left in the tank at 33, and after being let go by the Dolphins following underwhelming production in recent weeks. In 13 games with Miami in 2025 (3 starts), Judon made 19 tackles (9 solo), one tackle for loss, three quarterback hits, and one pass defense, per Pro Football Reference.

Judon’s last double-digit sack season came in 2022, when he 15.5 with the New England Patriots. That was a career best for him, which followed up his second-best season (12.5 in 2021) tallying sacks. Judon could prove to be a savvy move — or at least a solid contingency plan — by Beane as the team heads toward postseason play.

Buffalo Bills activate WR Mecole Hardman Jr. from Injured Reserve

imagn-27612197.jpg

The Buffalo Bills have activated wide receiver Mecole Hardman Jr. from Injured Reserve (IR) ahead of Sunday’s game with the Cleveland Browns in Week 16. Hardman has been out since he injured himself in his Buffalo debut, which came in the Bills’ 44-32 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 11.

We have activated WR Mecole Hardman Jr. from Injured Reserve.

K Michael Badgley and DE Andre Jones Jr. have been elevated from the practice squad for tomorrow’s game.@Ticketmaster | #BUFvsCLE pic.twitter.com/SUNlvvPbFs

— Buffalo Bills (@BuffaloBills) December 20, 2025

Hardman, 27, is a seven-year NFL veteran who initially entered the league as a second-round pick of the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2019 NFL Draft. After making the Pro Bowl as a returner in his rookie season, averaging 9.3 yards per punt return and 26.1 yards per kickoff return that season, Hardman has found himself struggling to fill larger roles. Hardman was also Second-Team All-Pro in his rookie season with the Chiefs.

While with Kansas City, he caught 178 passes for 2,302 yards and 16 touchdowns across six seasons. He spent part of one season with the New York Jets, playing in five games during the 2023 season. He caught just one pass for six yards in that time before he was traded back to Kansas City. This season is the first season of his professional career where he has not appeared in at least one contest for the Chiefs.

Hardman started his Buffalo career off with a bang, netting a 61-yard kickoff return on his first touch wearing a Bills uniform. He was targeted once in that Week 11 game, but he and quarterback Josh Allen failed to connect on a deep pass. Hardman tried to return one punt, but he lost a fumble on that attempt and injured his calf in the process. That calf injury led to his IR stint.

To clear room for Hardman’s return, the Bills placed rookie offensive tackle Chase Lundt on IR Friday. He suffered a knee injury in practice this week. The Bills were carrying 10 offensive linemen with Lundt, but with Tylan Grable’s return earlier this month from IR, they could afford to trim one from the roster.

Buffalo now has seven wide receivers on the 53-man roster. Khalil Shakir, Joshua Palmer, Keon Coleman, Brandin Cooks, Gabe Davis, and Tyrell Shavers are the others. For most of this season, the team has gone with five active wideouts on game days. We’ll find out who the inactive player or players will be tomorrow when inactives are finalized at 11:30 a.m. EST.

Buffalo Bills Week 16 inactives at the Cleveland Browns

gettyimages-2249563508.jpg

The Buffalo Bills declared three players out ahead of their Week Sixteen tilt with the Cleveland Browns. One of those players, rookie offensive tackle Chase Lundt, has been a staple of this piece during the season, as he has been a healthy scratch in nearly every game this season. However, Lundt was placed on injured reserve on Friday, which means that he is off the 53-man roster and no longer subject to being listed as inactive at game time.

Given that the Bills called up two players from the practice squad and activated another from injured reserve to fill their 53-man roster, the team still needed to declare seven players inactive for today’s game. We knew two of those players on Friday, but now we know all of Buffalo’s inactive players for today.

Here are the seven inactive players for Buffalo as they take on Cleveland.
_____________________________________________________________________________

WR Keon Coleman

With returner/wideout Mecole Hardman Jr. back from injured reserve, we knew at least one receiver would be a healthy scratch. Coleman is out today—it’s not discipline-related, per Cameron Wolfe, but it is a coaching decision instead. Coleman has been a massive disappointment this season.

WR Gabe Davis

For the second straight week, the veteran is a healthy scratch. Buffalo will go with Khalil Shakir, Joshua Palmer, Brandin Cooks, Tyrell Shavers, and Mecole Hardman Jr. at wideout this week.

T Tylan Grable

The second-year man came off injured reserve a few weeks ago after missing the start of the season thanks to a concussion suffered over the summer. He’s a healthy scratch again, however, as Alec Anderson and Ryan Van Demark have settled in as the team’s swing tackles.

DT Jordan Phillips

The veteran and resident crowd fire-upper is out thanks to an ankle injury he suffered last week. Buffalo will carry four active defensive tackles, as Phidarian Mathis will dress for the game. T.J. Sanders, Deone Walker, and DaQuan Jones are the other interior defensive linemen active today.

DT Larry Ogunjobi

Interesting. One of Buffalo’s two big free-agent signings along the defensive line is a healthy scratch this week, as the team will go short-handed up front. This does give T.J. Sanders the chance to play his actual position, though, rather than moonlighting as a defensive end in the name of on-field reps.

DB Darnell Savage

With Cam Lewis questionable due to a hamstring injury, I thought it was possible that Savage would play this week. However, Lewis is good to go, so Savage is a healthy scratch once again.

K Matt Prater

This we knew, as the veteran injured his quad in last week’s 35-31 victory over the New England Patriots. Michael Badgley was elevated from the practice squad, and he’ll handle kicking duties for the day.

Bills playoff picture: What Week 16 vs. Browns means for AFC standings

gettyimages-2252429970.jpg

The Buffalo Bills could not clinch a playoff spot on their own in Week 16, but they started the week at 99+% chance of making the playoffs. There is still a doomsday scenario where they could miss the postseason, but it is extremely unlikely.

With their win, the Bills moved even closer. Their magic number is down to one. If the Indianapolis Colts lose this week, Buffalo clinches a spot. Houston won in the late afternoon slot against the Raiders, so Buffalo is rooting for San Francisco as the Colts play Monday night against the 49ers.

The Los Angeles Chargers also won, so the Bills didn’t move up at all in the wild card picture. The Houston Texans stick in seventh place with their win, as well.

The New England Patriots won on Sunday night, so the Bills will need a Week 17 win in order to stay within striking distance for the division.

AFC East standings

The New England Patriots won on Sunday night to move to 12-3. They can clinch the division in week 17 with a win and a Bills loss.

  1. New England Patriots 12-3
  2. Buffalo Bills 11-4
  3. Miami Dolphins 6-9
  4. New York Jets 3-12

Updated AFC playoff picture

The Denver Broncos lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the biggest game of the weekend in the AFC. Denver is still the top team for now, but the Patriots play Sunday night and the Jaguars are lurking.

  1. Denver Broncos 12-3 (clinched playoff berth)
  2. New England Patriots 12-3 (clinched playoff berth)
  3. Jacksonville Jaguars 11-4
  4. Pittsburgh Steelers 9-6
  5. Los Angeles Chargers 11-4
  6. Buffalo Bills 11-4
  7. Houston Texans 10-5
  8. Indianapolis Colts 8-6
  9. Baltimore Ravens 7-8

Buffalo Bills vs. Philadelphia Eagles, Week 17: first look at injuries

gettyimages-1820813046.jpg

The Buffalo Bills were able to squeak out a victory against the Cleveland Browns this past Sunday, in Week 16. While there’s still much to talk about on the heels of that win, a fairly big game awaits the team next Sunday

This is a matchup that carries significant playoff vibes, and one we could see down the road in early February if everything lines up as needed in the playoffs. With injuries a major talking point in the lead up to Week 17, that has fans for both teams glued to their devices for the latest updates.

Most of Bills Mafia wants to know how quarterback Josh Allen is doing, and if his ankle is indeed “gravy, baby,” as he told CBS sideline reporter Evan Washburn after Sunday’s win. The reason for concern is due to the ankle injury Allen appeared to suffer just before halftime on a play where he inadvisably scrambled into harm’s way. That injury had Allen limping to the locker room early, and without his right cleat on.

Though we don’t have an official report yet, Allen does appear no worse for wear, as evidenced by the fact that he continued to play after halftime. Allen had the injury x-rayed at halftime, which reported as negative. However, don’t be surprised if he ends up on the injury report early and often this week with a foot/ankle designation.

Safety Jordan Poyer was apparently injured on the play where he combined with defensive end Greg Rousseau to sack quarterback Shedeur Sanders. ESPN Bills reporter Alaina Getzenberg reported that Poyer was walking the sidelines late in the game with a limp, holding his upper right leg a bit. However, social media posts by the Bills after the game revealed that Poyer was holding his arm pretty close to his chest.

In positive news, linebacker Shaq Thompson left the game in the first quarter with a neck injury, but he returned to action later in the game.

As for the Eagles, Philly is expected to get back defensive tackle Jalen Carter and offensive tackle Lane Johnson in Week 17. One of the better defensive tackles in the NFL, Carter’s return should provide a boost for their pass rush. He only has two sacks this season, but Carter remains a disruptor in the middle of the defense against both the pass and run. Johnson is the veteran leader on an offensive line, and he’s fought through an up and down season in 2025.

The big injury to watch out of Philadelphia this week is that of linebacker Nakobe Dean, who left their Week 17 game against the Washington Commanders on Saturday due to a hamstring injury. Dean has been on a tear lately after staring off the season on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. In only eight games this season, Dean has a couple of forced fumbles and four sacks.

Keep it locked in here at Buffalo Rumblings for the latest injury news and more as the Bills get ready to host the Eagles on Sunday, December 28.

Quarterback Josh Allen Leads Bills Pro Bowl Selections

gettyimages-2194259090.jpg

The National Football League announced its Pro Bowl rosters on Tuesday morning, and it was a nice Christmas present for three players on the Buffalo Bills. Quarterback Josh Allen was selected along with running back James Cook III and left tackle Dion Dawkins.

Josh Allen, James Cook III & Dion Dawkins have been named to the Pro Bowl.

— Buffalo Bills PR (@BuffaloBillsPR) December 23, 2025

Allen usually elects to golf instead of attending the Pro Bowl due to his own reasons, but this is the fourth time he has been selected in his career. His four selections put him in solid company, as Jack Kemp (6) and Jim Kelly (5) are the other Bills QBs to be selected at least four times.

Cook is having one of the best seasons in the league when it comes to running backs. He leads the league in games where he has rushed for over 100 yards with nine, and he has 12 rushing touchdowns on the season. Cook also leads the league in total rushing yards with 1,532 through Week Sixteen. This marks the third time he has been selected to the Pro Bowl.

Then, there is the anchor on the outside in Dion Dawkins. His fifth Pro Bowl selection makes him the first Bills offensive lineman to be selected at least five times since Ruben Brown. It has been quite a year for Dawkins, as he received a key to the City of Buffalo and was named a finalist for the Walter Payton Man of the Year award. He is coming off a flu game last week, losing 14 pounds due to illness. He then had to line up against Myles Garrett when the team took on the Cleveland Browns.

The Pro Bowl Games may not be like the traditional game of old, which was an exhibition played between the NFC and the AFC, but it is still a mile-marker for players in terms of accomplishment. Many players have bonuses written into their contracts centered on Pro Bowl selections. The Pro Bowl Games are a series of skill contests, and they include a seven-on-seven game of flag football. The Pro Bowl Games will take place on Tuesday, February 3, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.

Buffalo Bills FB Reggie Gilliam significant snub from 2026 NFL Pro Bowl

gettyimages-2247963205.jpg

The Buffalo Bills announced that quarterback Josh Allen, running back James Cook III, and left tackle Dion Dawkins were all selected to the 2026 NFL Pro Bowl Games this season. However, it was a name not announced, which should raise some eyebrows: fullback Reggie Gilliam. Instead of Gilliam being named to the roster, it was Baltimore Ravens fullback Patrick Ricard, who always seems to get the nod no matter what kind of season he puts together.

This isn’t meant as disrespect to Ricard, as he is an amazing player, but there was no reason for voters to ignore giving Gilliam the nod. After all, Ricard has only played in nine games this season while Gilliam has not missed a single matchup. Also, many consider the success of a running attack dependent on the fullback. The Ravens are third in the NFL in rushing yards per game, but leading the way at number one are the Bills — and Gilliam deserves a lot of the credit for that fact.

For what Reggie Gilliam has meant to the Bills top rushing offense in the NFL, being passed over for the Pro Bowl for a guy who played only nine games is ridiculous. I don’t normally care for these sorts of things, but some guys deserve recognition they don’t normally get

— Sal Capaccio 🏈 (@SalSports) December 23, 2025

Gilliam is the go-to fullback when the offense plays heavy, and there are multiple replays where Gilliam is shown leading the way for the running backs who get to the second level against opposing defenses. Gilliam is also a monster on special teams, making numerous plays each game. Running back/kickoff returner Ray Davis may be leading the league in kickoff return average, but one of the main reasons why is that Gilliam often leads the way as the lead blocker on return coverage.

For those who believe in Pro Football Focus grades, Ricard is ahead of Gilliam. However, Gilliam has almost double the pass-blocking grade as Ricard, with the two fairly close in run-blocking grades. It’s true that the Pro Bowl often becomes a name game, and Ricard has that going for him among diehards and those only interested due to fantasy football leagues through work. Hopefully, Gilliam is voted in as an alternate and gets at least a sliver of the respect he deserves.

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen, other vets DNP Tuesday, listed “day-to-day”

gettyimages-2253047359.jpg

The Buffalo Bills have a lengthy injury list to manage during practices in the lead-up to their Week 17 home game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Yet before you jump to conclusions, understand that Tuesday’s practice session was a walk-through. As such, all of the team participated, but One Bills Drive is required to list injury designations as they would appear for a full/contact practice.

The news also isn’t entirely unexpected. Head coach Sean McDermott revealed ahead of Monday’s practice session that quarterback Josh Allen would be considered day-to-day with a right foot injury suffered just before halftime in Week 16 against the Cleveland Browns.

After finishing out that series, Allen was attended to on the sideline by athletic trainers for several minutes. Ultimately, Allen headed to the locker room early for x-rays, but he came back out after halftime no worse for wear having been cleared to return to the game.

Later, Allen told CBS reporter Evan Washburn “we’re gravy, baby” when asked about the injury during his postgame interview. McDermott added that Allen’s injury could impact his practice statuses this week, but he doesn’t believe it will affect his availability for Sunday’s home game against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 17.

Joining Allen as “day-to-day” on Monday were defensive tackle DaQuan Jones (calf), linebacker Shaq Thompson (neck), and safety Jordan Poyer (hamstring). Jones’ injury is likely the pre-existing calf injury he’s been managing most of the 2025 NFL season. Thompson injured his neck early in the game during a tackle. He was designated questionable to return, and did eventually get back on the field to finish the game with the defense.

Jordan Poyer’s injury appeared to happen during the play where defensive end Greg Rousseau and he combined to sack quarterback Shedeur Sanders. In positive news from McDermott on Monday, both defensive tackle Jordan Phillips and kicker Matt Prater were termed “improving” to start the week.

That brings us to Tuesday’s session, where a long list of players were designated as “DNP” in the team’s first practice session. Again, Tuesday was a walkthrough, so every player participated. The “DNP” designation is required per NFL rules to account for a player’s status in would-be full practice sessions.

With that, the following players were listed as “DNP” on Tuesday:

QB Josh Allen (right foot)
S Jordan Poyer (hamstring)
TE Dalton Kincaid (hamstring/knee)
DE Joey Bosa (probable vet rest)
K Matt Prater (right quadriceps)
DT Jordan Phillips (right ankle)
DB Cam Lewis (hamstring)

Per McDermott as shared by Bills reporter Sal Capaccio with WGR550 AM, Prater’s situation is one the team is taking “one day at a time and he’s not clear right now if he will or won’t be available Sunday.” Capaccio also shared that McDermott noted Kincaid remains in “‘injury management’ mode after having a ‘small setback’ recently.”

That’s not ideal news to learn about Kincaid, who’s been dealing with both a hamstring (in-season) and knee injury (dating back to training camp) this season. McDermott had previously informed reporters that Kincaid would be on an injury management plan the rest of the season, where it’s likely he would be held out of practice sessions in the event of any discomfort — and out of an abundance of caution.

It remains to be seen how other players listed as “DNP” progress through the week. The Bills had to plan for Prater’s absence last week by signing free-agent kicker Michael Badgley. It’s uncertain what, if any, injury had Bosa listed as not practicing. It’s also possible that it’s a vet rest day for him.

Jordan Phillips and Cam Lewis are managing existing injuries, and McDermott had previously stated that Phillips was improving. Like Bosa, it could also be a vet rest day as part of his improving status.

Regarding Poyer, the Bills are known to take extra caution with hamstring injuries. Prepare for Poyer’s status to remain cloudy right up until Friday’s game-day designations, perhaps even then leaving him as a game-day decision.

On Matt Prater, Sean McDermott says they will take it one day at a time and he's not clear right now if he will or won't be available Sunday.

On Dalton Kincaid: still in "injury management" mode after having a "small setback" recently.

Bills Mafia pushed Huntington Bank Field past capacity in Week 16

imagn-27866112.jpg

Fans of the Buffalo Bills have gained a reputation for traveling well, and when it comes to nearby Cleveland, OH it stands to reason that would be especially true when facing the Cleveland Browns on their home turf. This season, my sister suggested we make the trek. Perhaps you saw her in her Christmas Tree costume in the waning moments of the fourth quarter or during Chris Berman’s highlights during halftime of Monday Night Football.

While there, Browns fans around us couldn’t stop talking about the amount of “blue” in the stands. One fan pointed to a section of the field and told me that it usually looked a lot emptier than it did this past weekend. I wanted to see if there was any truth to the notion that Bills Mafia had really shown up strong.

Bills Mafia really put butts in seats

One of the many things tracked by Pro Football Reference is stadium attendance. Check the link if you want to verify my work. Assuming I read things well, Bills Mafia not only showed up, they pushed Huntington Bank Field slightly past it’s listed capacity.

A quick search of the internet tells me that the home of the Browns since 1999, Huntington Bank Field, holds 67,431 fans. Pro Football Reference has the attendance of Bills at Browns in Week 16 as 67, 580 people. Assuming that’s accurate, that’s 149 people more than they should have sold tickets to.

Want to hear even more crazy stats about the attendance this past Sunday? The attendance figure was fairly easily the highest of the season for Cleveland so far. The next highest was opening week against the division rival Cincinnati Bengals. That game saw 65,599 people in attendance, a difference of 3% of fans or 1,981 people.

Let me re-frame this. It makes sense that the first week of the season against a division rival would be well attended. The stadium was at near capacity. That was comfortably beat out in Week 16 by a game that most expected would be a blowout loss for the 3-11 home team.

The attendance for Cleveland does seem to have waned as the team’s woes continue. Starting off strong with two game near 66,000 fans, by Week 5 the 1-4 Browns hosted the Minnesota Vikings in front of a season-low 61,082 fans. That’s a stadium at under 91% capacity.

The point of this isn’t to poke fun at the Dawg Pound, mind you. Buffalo and their fans have faced their own issues over the years, and even with a sea of blue surrounding them, the home fans were loud and enthusiastic. Their attendance dips are logical and even rebounded some with games in the 64,000 range much of the year.

The last home game before the Bills fell a bit shy of 63,ooo fans. Weather wasn’t likely the culprit, with temperatures about eight degrees warmer in that game than against Buffalo and milder winds.

The deciding factor seems to be the proximity and enthusiasm of Bills Mafia — and perhaps a chance to witness real NFL history had defensive end Myles Garrett broken the single-season sack record. Easily done as a day trip, the jerseys in the stands and taillights stacked on taillights on I-90 heading East after the game are corroborated with the data. Bills Mafia showed up for Cleveland.

NFL Week 17 Christmas Day fan discussion

gettyimages-2247043343.jpg

Week 17 of NFL action gets started this afternoon, with a trio of games that once held a lot of playoff intrigue. The reality is that football fans could be in for a long day of play featuring plenty of also-rans.

First up it’s the Dallas Cowboys against the Washington Commanders. For many, this could be the one time of the season you actually get to see the Cowboys, since they’re so rarely featured in spotlight games. At 6-8-1, Dallas has nothing to play for other than Jerry Jones’ amusement — something the Commanders hope to spoil this afternoon.

At 4:30 p.m. EST, The 8-7 Detroit Lions take on the 7-8 Minnesota Vikings. The Lions still have the smallest of chances to make the playoffs, but they’ll need to win out and also have the Green Bay Packers lose out the rest of the way. As for Minnesota, well… there’s always next year.

In primetime, the 12-3 Denver Broncos are flying high, and set to play Krampus to the playoff-eliminated Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs aren’t likely to fare too well in this one, not with quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Gardner Minshew both out of commission due to knee injuries.

With that, here’s your open thread for all of today’s Christmas Day football action. As always, be kind to one another — and in all things… Go Bills!
