Germaine Pratt joining the Raiders

NFL: AFC Wild Card-Las Vegas Raiders at Cincinnati Bengals

Pratt finds his new NFL home.

Germaine Pratt is wasting no time in finding his next home following his release by the Cincinnati Bengals.

According to Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz, the Las Vegas Raiders are signing Pratt to a one-year deal worth $4.78 million. Schultz added that Pratt had a nice market before opting to sign with Las Vegas.

“Sources say Germaine Pratt had a very hot market after being released by the Bengals and had several teams interested in him,” Schultz wrote. “The Raiders ultimately made the most sense with the opportunity he’ll have with Pete Carroll and DC Patrick Graham’s defense.”

The irony here is Pratt ended the Bengals’ 31-year playoff drought with a game-clinching interception vs. these very Raiders in the 2021-22 Wild Card Round.

Best of luck to Pratt as he looks to continue his NFL career with the Raiders!

If things got bad enough, Shemar Stewart can actually re-enter the 2026 NFL Draft

2025 NFL Draft Portraits

The rookie hasn't spoken kindly of the team, but not playing for them would come at a huge cost.

The Cincinnati Bengals and their first-round pick Shemar Stewart have been having an issue getting a deal done, and it has caused tensions to get high.

The Rookie started by simply not practicing but showing up for meetings. Then he publicly called out the franchise for "wanting to win arguments more than they want to win more games." That obviously stepped a bit over a line from simple disagreement to possibly more. Then, Stewart skipped the final day of the minicamp altogether.

The question that comes up from sheer curiosity is simply, can Stewart avoid playing for Cincinnati?

The answer is yes, but it isn't a route that is ideal for players.

For those wondering (and if it even gets to this extreme), Shemar Stewart can re-enter the 2026 draft, but he would have to sit out a year. This would make him eligible to be selected by any team other than CIN.

A year off for a pass rusher that needs development is not ideal. https://t.co/QU5152Ddjg

Per the NFL CBA, if he plays in an outside professional league (CFL, UFL, etc.), the Bengals would retain his rights for 3 years.

— Jordan Reid (@Jordan_Reid) June 12, 2025

Quite simply, Stewart would have to stay away from football for an entire season. There are other less traditional routes, like potentially suing the NCAA to go back to college, to get around that, but the most direct route is sitting out an entire season.

Many already recognized that the Bengals took a shot on being able to develop Stewart when they drafted him. He only had 4.5 sacks in 37 games. He got plenty of pressure but couldn't finish.

Sitting out a year isn't going to look good for a prospect, and teams don't generally view that kind of behavior favorably.

Not to mention, Stewart is set to make a $840,000 base salary this year, not including any signing bonus/guaranteed money he'd also get from his contract. If he didn't get drafted in the first round next year, he wouldn't have to worry about offset language because he wouldn't have any guaranteed money on his deal.

The simple thing here is that Stewart would get the satisfaction of sticking it to the Bengals, but he would be turning down an insane amount of money and security that he'd be afforded even with the reported clause the Bengals are looking to add.

The only player to ever actually do this was Bo Jackson. He decided to never play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and instead go play baseball. Stewart not having that extra sport as an option to still make money while he waits doesn't give him many realistic options.

Al Golden has high praise for Shemar Stewart

Syndication: The Enquirer

The Bengals’ defensive coordinator is eager to work with his rookie pass rusher.

The Cincinnati Bengals’ front office is in the middle of an ugly rookie contract dispute with Shemar Stewart.

The uber-athletic pass rusher out of Texas A&M is not happy that Katie Blackburn and company have changed the language around voiding years in his contract.

Stewart even went so far as to call out the front office by saying, “... in y’all case, y’all just want to win arguments (more) than winning more games.” Ouch.

With all that going on, the Bengals’ defensive coordinator has made it clear that he’d love to have Stewart out there on the field with his unit.

Fox 19’s Gabi Sorrentino tweeted: “Al Golden said Shemar Stewart has been great in meetings and learning the Bengals defense.” Sorrentino then quoted the DC as saying, “I love the young man. He has a great attitude.”

That’s a really good sign for the future of Stewart in stripes (assuming there is one), as we all know he still has a long way to go in terms of development.

We talked about the standoff between Stewart and the front office in the video below.

Dax Hill hopes to be ready for Day 1 of training camp following ACL injury

NFL: Indianapolis Colts at Cincinnati Bengals

Joseph Maiorana-USA TODAY Sports

The former first-round pick isn’t sure what to expect once he returns but is hopeful of being out there for Day 1 of camp.

The Cincinnati Bengals have quite an interesting situation on the defensive side of the football this offseason.

NFL sack leader Trey Hendrickson is currently not practicing in hopes of a massive contract extension with the Bengals.

Rookie defensive end Shemar Stewart is also not practicing due to contract negotiation issues with the Bengals as well.

However, there is some good news Bengals fans. Dax Hill is set to return for training camp after missing a large majority of last season due to a torn ACL.

Hill has made it clear he wants nothing more than to be back on the field this summer with his teammates and is optimistic about his return.

“I’m hopeful in the next couple of weeks. This break is five weeks, so probably right before, hopefully. I’ve been preparing myself to be cleared and trying to show them that I can actually be cleared,” Hill stated after a recent minicamp practice.

Hill does understand that even though he will be cleared for practice, there is still work to be done to ensure he does not rush or re-injure is knee before the season.

“I know it’s going to be a gradual ramp-up. I’m not going to be expecting a whole lot (when camp begins), but yeah, I’m wanting to be out there for Day 1,” Hill said.

Hill is right on schedule for his return after tearing his ACL back in October.

The former first-round pick will bring much-needed help to the secondary this season with Al Golden leading the way on defense.
