Trey McBride breaks NFL record vs. Bengals; Myles Garrett could do so next

gettyimages-2253838464.jpg

The Cincinnati Bengals have been one of the worst teams ever in covering the tight end in 2025, so it is only fitting that a tight end would break the single-season receptions record against the Bengals.

Trey McBride came into the game with 109 catches, seven shy of the record, far from an easy amount to get in one game for a tight end. However, against the Bengals, the record is not surprising, and he actually finished with 10 catches, including a touchdown catch in the fourth quarter.

Now with another game and already a three-reception lead over the record, McBride has a chance to set a dominant record at the position.

That may not be the only record the Bengals have broken against them this season, though, and the other one has been running even longer. Myles Garrett is a half sack short of tying the single-season record and has one game left to try to get it in a lost season for the Browns and Bengals.

Unlike the tight end receptions record, it remains to be seen whether Garrett will be able to set the sack record against the Bengals, a mark that has stood for almost 25 years. The Bengals offensive line has really stepped up this season. Based on how well they’ve played, it’s not impossible to see them keeping Garrett from breaking the NFL sacks record.

Congrats to McBride on a great season, and here’s to hoping Garrett doesn’t get his record at the expense of the Bengals.

Browns at Bengals TV Channel, Odds and Predictions

Even though the Bengals have been officially eliminated from 2025 playoff contention, they’ve been putting up quite the performances the past couple of weeks. In Cincinnati’s dominating wins over the the Dolphins and Cardinals the past two weeks, Joe Burrow and the offense has put up a combined 82 points, while allowing only 35.

The last game of the 2025 season pits the Bengals against the Browns at Paycor Stadium. Cleveland has seen a little bit of life with Shedeur Sanders placed into the lineup at quarterback, taking the Bills to the wire a 23-20 loss in Week 16, and then grabbing an ugly, but impressive win against the Steelers on Sunday.

Cincinnati has historically had some issues with unfamiliar and/or their first time seeing a rookie quarterback (as well as with Myles Garrett), but Burrow and the offense has been a buzzsaw of late. Which team will end the season on a high note?

Arizona Central: Bengals 24, Browns 16

Sportsnaut: Browns 14, Bengals 21

Cincy Jungle:

On paper and based on their past couple of performances against other struggling teams, Cincinnati should have a realtively-comfortable win on Sunday. Burrow and the offense, with its full complement of stars available, have provided problems for Miami and Arizona, respectively. Burrow used nine receivers against the Cardinals Sunday, so he’s seeing the field and utilizing his trademark ad-lib ability well.

However, the Browns have been a headache for Cincinnati in the Burrow era. Garrett has been basically unstoppable and any semblance of competent quarterback play by Cleveland has made some of these games tenuous. The Bengals have won the last four against the Browns, but Cleveland was 6-1 in the “Battle of Ohio” from 2020-2023.

Sanders’ spark to Cleveland should make this one more interesting than the last few matchups, as both teams are “playing for pride” in the final game of the season. Even so, Burrow and Co. appear to be having fun again, even if Garrett pours the occasional bucket of cold water on the party.

Cody Ford and Joe Burrow react to NFL history-making catch vs. Cardinals

imagn-27895076.jpg

There is something about playing the Arizona Cardinals in Cincinnati in December that brings out highlight-reel plays from the Bengals.

First, we had Jerome Simpson’s front flip for a touchdown 14 years ago.

Sunday, we had the greatest big man catch and run in the history of the NFL.

Cody Ford’s 21-yard reception was a thing of beauty. He also made some history in the process. Ford is the heaviest player in NFL history to record a reception of over 20 yards from scrimmage in a game, according to researcher Dante Koplowitz-Fleming.

Ford is listed at 345 pounds. The majestic catch will go down in Bengals history as an all-timer.

The fans were hoping Ford would get a handoff at the 1-yard line to try and get the touchdown, but Coach Taylor opted to give the ball to Chase Brown instead.

Cody Ford wanted to make it clear that he is an athlete in the locker room after the game. The big man’s rumble on his birthday brought enjoyment to his teammates, as well. Joe Burrow was in pure amazement at what he was seeing as Ford scampered down the sideline.

Check out their reactions below.

Cincinnati Bengals 2026 NFL Draft prospects to watch in Oregon vs. Texas Tech playoff game

gettyimages-2250363277.jpg

The second game of the college football quarterfinal round will kick off at Noon on New Year’s Day. Let’s take a look at some of the best prospects that the Bengals should be checking out during the game.

The Bengals signed TJ Slaton to a two-year contract last offseason. He hasn’t been overly impactful, but also not a liability by any means as a run defender. Could the Bengals look to upgrade the position via the draft? If so, they might be interested in A’Mauri Washington from Oregon.

Washington was a member of the Feldman Freak List. The 6’3”, 338-pound defensive tackle has been clocked at 20.89 miles per hour on the GPS, has a 36” vertical, and bench pressed 475 pounds. He is a high-upside prospect who is just scratching the surface of his potential.

— Bengals & Brews (@BengalsBrews) October 2, 2025

Texas Tech has a talented defensive tackle prospect of their own. Lee Hunter is 6’4” and 320 pounds. He has a highly impressive 19.8% win rate on true pass sets this year. His 10.1% stop rate as a run defender is among the highest in college football. The UCF transfer has been an integral part of a loaded Red Raiders defensive line.

Lee Hunter is a top 50 player for me. 330-lb NT with heavy hands and a very quick first step for his size. Comfortably the most detailed and instinctive pass rusher in the '26 NT class pic.twitter.com/NC3o1WNdu9

— James Foster (@NoFlagsFilm) December 10, 2025

Sticking with the Red Raiders defensive line, they have two of the best pass rushers in the country at edge. David Bailey is the more highly regarded prospect, with an insane 41.8% win rate on true pass sets. The explosive pass rusher has 12.5 sacks on the season.

#TexasTech EDGE David Bailey has a lot of quick wins with the ability to blow up a play in an instant.

Leads the Power 4 in Sacks currently with 13.5, super intriguing prospect for the 2026 draft. pic.twitter.com/rBS3YqNstL

— Andy (@AndyyNFL) December 26, 2025

Playing opposite of Bailey, is edge Romello Height. An undersized player, he has elite quickness off the snap. He has 49 pressures on the season, with 9 sacks of his own. Height’s measurables will be a big part of how highly he ends up getting drafted.

David Bailey gets most of the attention on Texas Tech’s defense, but Romello Height isn’t far behind him imo.

— James Foster (@NoFlagsFilm) October 13, 2025

Oregon edge rusher Matayo Uiagalelei fits the typical size profile Cincinnati has drafted. He is listed at 6’5” and 270 pounds. Originally a tight end recruit, Uiagalelei has 5 sacks on the year. Last year, he recorded 10.5 sacks, but that was on just 31 total pressures. He needs to be more consistent against the run. He might end up going on day two, due to inconsistency setting the edge, and the need for further development as a pass rusher.

I’m tweeting about one prospect every day before the 2026 NFL Draft. If I miss a day, I shake ass for the TL

Jacob Rodriguez is a Butkus Award-winning linebacker for Texas Tech. Rodriguez put over 100 tackles, 4 interceptions, and an NCAA-leading 7 forced fumbles during the 2025 season. He is a leader and downhill thumper, and he had a 95.3 run-defense grade.

With the return of Erick All from injury, Mike Gesicki returning, and blocking tight end Drew Sample back, it is unlikely the Bengals will want to draft a tight end. I will mention Kenyon Sadiq. The clear-cut tight end one in the 2026 NFL Draft class. Sadiq is a rugged blocker, an athletic playmaker, and is still just 20 years old

The last prospect for this game I will highlight is Dillon Thieneman. Thieneman is a talented safety prospect who could be the successor to Geno Stone. He has an excellent range, reported 4.3 40-yard dash speed, and is a physical finisher against the run.

Bengals Rookie Report vs. Cardinals

gettyimages-2253082844.jpg

The Cincinnati Bengals have finally found life, too late in the season, and so has first-round pick Shemar Stewart.

Stewart, who recently returned from injured reserve, recorded his first career sack this weekend. It was a good play, where Stewart made an inside move that left the offensive tackle looking foolish. Defensive line coach Jerry Montgomery has done a great job of developing Myles Murphy and Kris Jenkins as the season goes on. Now, he and defensive coordinator Al Golden are making sure that Stewart gets a high volume of reps week in and week out, giving him a chance to develop his skills despite missing substantial time to injury this season.

Don’t be too quick to label Stewart as a bust. This staff has a plan for him.

Rookie linebackers Demetrius Knight and Barrett Carter were really thrown into the fire this season. Linebacker is arguably the hardest position on the defense to adjust from the college to the pro game. Most of the time, a rookie linebacker would have another linebacker on the field with some experience to take the heat off of them, but the Bengals went all in on developing this duo.

Though not linear, make no mistake, their week-in, week-out improvement is much more substantial than what PFF would have you think. This pair stepped up in recent weeks and has been a big part of why this team can suddenly stop the run. Knight had one tackle and four assists this week. Carter had one tackle and two assists while also getting his hand on a pass and getting a shot in on Jacoby Brissett.

Dylan Fairchild’s development is unquestionable. The rookie guard has been phenomenal as a pass protector and made some nice run blocks this week as the team continues to win between the tackles. Jalen Rivers came in late and did an admirable job blocking for Joe Flacco and Tahj Brooks.

Brooks had a couple more runs, but what stood out to me was the check-down that nearly turned into a first down, as he picked up nine yards. We haven’t seen enough of Brooks to make any real judgment on his abilities, but we didn’t get much out of Chase Brown as a rookie either, so be patient.

Of course, I would be remiss not to mention long snapper William Wagner, who continues to make the kick game function.

UDFA Bralyn Lux finally saw some action this week. He has one rough blocking rep on the punt return team, but looked good when he got in on defense at the end of the game. They put him in the slot, where he did not allow a catch and made a tackle on the only run that came his way.

Howard Cross also saw most of his action on the last defensive drive. For the most part, he did his job. He is pretty quick, but needs to put together better pass protection progression in order to become a serious contributor to this defense.

Cincinnati Bengals 2026 NFL Draft prospects to watch in the Alabama vs. Indiana playoff game

gettyimages-2247150800.jpg

The third of the four quarterfinal playoff games will feature Alabama taking on top-ranked Indiana in the Rose Bowl at 4:00 p.m. ET on New Year’s Day.

The Cincinnati Bengals have worked hard to field a competent offensive line for Joe Burrow. Not that the bar was high, but this has felt like the best offensive line of his career. However, Orlando Brown Jr. will be entering the final season of his contract.

One player that could fit the mold of the size the Bengals like is Kadyn Proctor of the Crimson Tide. Proctor is listed at 6’7” and 360 pounds. I have some concerns about his foot speed if it sticks at offensive tackle. With that said, he is a three-year starter, a mauler in the run game, and has a 79.8 pass blocking grade in 2025.

Kadyn Proctor (#74) Alabama

Absolutely monstrous Offensive Tackle at 6’7 360 with great length, mauling mentality as a run blocker, and plus athleticism overall that can get out and block in space. However, I do have concerns about his durability and conditioning at his size and… pic.twitter.com/RMBh067iGq

— Bengals & Brews (@BengalsBrews) July 25, 2025

Indiana also features a talented player at left tackle, in Carter Smith. Smith doesn’t have anywhere close to the size of Proctor, with many projecting him to kick inside to guard at the next level. Regardless of which spot he ends up at, Smith gave up just five pressures during the regular season, has impressive grip strength, and is a good blocker getting up at the second level of the defense.

#Indiana LT Carter Smith has excellent grip strength and does a nice job with his initial strike in stopping defenders in their tracks. Consistently works to replace his hands and has shown the ability to anchor against power.

— Devin Jackson (@RealD_Jackson) December 4, 2025

The Bengals will be looking to find a replacement at safety for Geno Stone. Both teams have starters at safety who should be playing in the NFL within the next two seasons. For Alabama, they have Bray Hubbard and Keon Sabb. Sabb is the more likely of the two to be in this draft class. Sabb is a really good cover corner with range.

Keon Sabb is a versatile athlete, reliable tackler in the open field, and posted an 83.1 coverage grade for Alabama in 2025. pic.twitter.com/zN0iMo0KbV

— Bengals & Brews (@BengalsBrews) December 24, 2025

Louis Moore and Amare Ferrell are talented safety prospects for the Hoosiers. Moore is turning 25 years old in January, so he will definitely be in this draft class. He has some of the best ball production for any defensive back in the country, with six interceptions on the year.

louis moore is one of the best safeties in college football.

— jamie (@JordanJamie) December 19, 2025

Amare Ferrell is probably the better draft prospect of the two, but he does have another year of eligibility if he chooses to use it. If he does declare, his well-rounded skillset should see him drafted on day two this year.

Amare Ferrell is a safety prospect from Indiana. He has an 84.6 coverage grade and a 77.3 run defense grade on the season. Ferrell is instinctive, quick to diagnose and react, and possesses great ball skills. He has recorded four interceptions in each of the last two seasons. pic.twitter.com/bFBV3gcXQf

— Bengals & Brews (@BengalsBrews) December 21, 2025

Sticking with the Indiana defensive backfield, D’Angelo Ponds is an undersized cornerback who plays much bigger than his listed size. He is a competitive player, which was evident in how many times he was one-on-one with Jeremiah Smith in the Big 10 Championship game.

D'Angelo Ponds is one of the most technically sound CBs in this class.
– Excellent mirror skills & route ID in man coverage
– 0 penalties & 3.8% missed tackle rate in 2025
– Hasn't allowed a 20+ yard completion to anyone besides Jeremiah Smith this year pic.twitter.com/7wJ6CL4TDR

— James Foster (@NoFlagsFilm) December 27, 2025

At corner for Alabama, they will need a big game from Domani Jackson. Jackson is a speedy outside cornerback with good length who adds extra value on special teams. He could be an intriguing option for Cincinnati on day three.

— Owen Denny (@OwenDennyNFL) December 4, 2025

On the defensive line, Alabama’s LT Overton is a versatile player with good bull-rush power, relentless pursuit, and a 22.7% win rate on true pass sets in 2025.

LT Overton (6’5 285) EDGE/DL

There is a similarly built player on the defensive line for Indiana, in Mikail Kamara. Kamara has only one sack this year, after recording 10 of them in 2024. However, he is still generating pressure at an elite rate for the Hoosiers. He has 46 pressures on the season.

Joe Burrow continues his plea for changes from the Cincinnati Bengals

imagn-27895053.jpg

Joe Burrow is one of the most calculated people when he speaks. Everything he says carries weight.

So, when he says something needs to change following a third straight season where the Bengals aren’t in the NFL Playoffs, it’s significant.

“We want to be competing for championships every year,” Burrow told reporters on Wednesday. “We don’t want to be in the spot that we’re in now, so something’s got to change, whether it’s players that we have continuing to improve and get better at playing championship caliber football, or bringing guys in that will, or whatever it may be.

“Obviously, something has to (change).”

Remember, this is a guy who said three years ago that the window to win a Super Bowl “is my whole career.” Burrow believes he’s good enough to lead the Bengals to a Super Bowl title. But he also knows he can’t do it alone.

The Bengals’ defense has been a significant hindrance for a second straight year, but Burrow isn’t singling them out.

“I want to be a quarterback. I don’t want to work in the front office. I don’t want any scouting guys in the offseason. I want to do what I do, and I want to do it at a high level,” he said. “And I have, and I’m going to continue to find more and more ways that I can help myself get better, help the team get better, and put ourselves in good positions.”

Fair views from a player who continues to be one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. Burrow has been having fun during the Bengals’ two-game winning streak. But he knows the standard is higher. The Bengals’ front office has given the impression over the last two offseasons that they are closer to winning a Super Bowl than maybe they really were.

After this season, though, it’s clear the Bengals need a revamping, especially considering Burrow missed nine games with a toe injury.

“I think my job is, number one, to play as well as I can. Number two, continue to improve, and number three, be the conduit between the coaching staff, front office, and the locker room, relay feelings that players have, relay sentiments in the locker room, because coaches in front office are not down there every day, and they don’t understand a lot of the things that go on in the locker room.

“And so I think as a quarterback, your job is to relay some of those things.”

The Franchise has spoken. Mike Brown, Zac Taylor, and Duke Tobin, you are now on the clock.

8 Bengals who could be playing their final game in Paycor Stadium this Sunday
Ossai has been with the Bengals since being selected in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft, and with Trey Hendrickson missing most of this year, you could make the argument he’s been their best overall pass-rusher from Week 1 until now. He signed a one-year deal this past offseason, and while he didn’t quite capitalize on his prove-it deal, he remained a solid player. He’s also been out since Week 15 and may not even play in this game, but head coach Zac Taylor kept that door open earlier in the week.

Joe Burrow on Bengals’ drought: ‘Something’s got to change’
“We don’t want to be in the spot we are in now, so something’s got to change,” Burrow said Wednesday. “Whether it’s players we have continuing to improve and get better and play championship-caliber football or bringing in guys that will or whatever it may be. Obviously, something has to [change].”

Burrow very plainly told the Bengals years ago to stop letting good players go. That was a response to the losses of DJ Reader and Jessie Bates, if not others. The Bengals have since, well, stopped letting good players go, even paying up to keep Tee Higgins.

Ja’Marr Chase says Bengals’ issues are “obvious” and “100% fixable”

gettyimages-2253838531.jpg

Just a day after Joe Burrow said “something’s got to change” for the Cincinnati Bengals to get back to contention, his favorite target, Ja’Marr Chase, voiced something similar.

When discussing what needs to change, Chase said, “Some of the things are pretty obvious. He then explained that it isn’t his role to decide what that is, but maintained that the problems are clear.

Most importantly, the receiver expressed great hope that the Bengals’ front office and coaches can get the job done, saying, “It’s 100 percent fixable.”

"I think some of the things are pretty obvious, what we need to change. It's pretty obvious on what issues need to be changed."

In the clip above, Chase also pointed to the fact that “it’s a team effort,” meaning there’s only so much that he and Burrow can do. And, as we’ve seen, the Bengals have managed to lose high-scoring games as much as any other team.

While those failures must be frustrating, both the QB and WR still sound extremely competitive and team-oriented. Their ability to look to the future and keep their spirits high is encouraging.

Bengals vs. Browns Injury Report: Chase Brown, B.J. Hill still sidelined

Sunday marks another meeting of The Battle of Ohio when the Cincinnati Bengals take on the Cleveland Browns to close out the 2025 season, and per the team’s injury report, they could be down a few players.

Running back Chase Brown (illness) was out for the second straight practice. The illness Brown is dealing with hasn’t been specified, and he could still play on Sunday. If he can’t go, look for Samaje Perine and rookie Tahj Brooks to man the backfield.

Defensive end Joseph Ossai (ankle) also missed another practice, and with him missing Week 17, it is looking like his 2025 season may be over, opening the door for more snaps for rookie Shemar Stewart. Defensive tackle B.J. Hill (ankle) was out again as well after missing Wednesday.

Josh Newton (hamstring) was upgraded to a limited participant after missing Wednesday, so he may have a chance to be back in the lineup.

For Cleveland, standout rookie linebacker Carson Schwesinger (quad, ankle) was out yet again, so they could be without one of their top defenders.

Both of Cleveland’s top tight ends have missed both practices as well. David Njoku (personal) and Harold Fannin Jr. (groin) could be out of the lineup Sunday. Njoku, however, is a veteran who could play without practicing.

Guard Teven Jenkins (concussion) was upgraded to a limited participant on Thursday, but he remains in the NFL’s concussion protocol and would still need to be cleared in order to play Sunday.

Bengals’ Mike Potts becoming an NFL GM this offseason?

imagn-20649328.jpg

The Cincinnati Bengals’ front office structure continues to draw scrutiny from fans who want the organization to hire a traditional general manager. The closest we’ve come is Duke Tobin, who is the de facto GM and the Director of Player Personnel.

So, while there isn’t a desk at Paycor Stadium with a GM nameplate on the desk, one member of the current personnel department may be positioning himself for that role elsewhere.

According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, Bengals assistant general manager Mike Potts is a name “closing in” on a full-fledged NFL general manager job. Potts was promoted to assistant GM during the 2024 offseason, joining Steven Radicevic and Trey Brown in newly created roles under director of player personnel Duke Tobin.

“I’ve mentioned Trey Brown and Steve Radicevic, the other two promoted to assistant GM last year, as good names—and now it’s Potts’ turn,” Breer wrote. “All three are very capable, even despite a couple of frustrating years in Cincinnati for Duke Tobin and his staff.

“Potts has long been the linchpin of the Bengals’ college scouting operation, and really has to get his hands dirty, because of the small size of Tobin’s group. In doing so, he’s earned the respect of so many in the scouting community. And as is the case with Brown and Radicevic, these guys all get to work in all facets of the roster-building process.”

Potts enters his 11th season with the Bengals and his 15th year working in the NFL. Per Bengals.com, his responsibilities include managing the personnel staff, overseeing the draft process, evaluating top prospects nationwide, developing the draft board, and facilitating undrafted free agency. His role extends beyond college scouting and into all aspects of roster construction.

With more than a decade inside the Bengals’ building and a hand in shaping recent rosters, Potts has become a logical candidate for teams seeking a traditional general manager structure. Whether or not Cincinnati ever adopts that model internally, his recent promotion may be a signal that other organizations are taking notice.

Dalton Risner sends message to Bengals to re-sign him ASAP

imagn-27314576.jpg

The Cincinnati Bengals finally found an answer at right guard, so keeping him long-term should be a no-brainer.

And that answer seems to agree.

Earlier this week, Dalton Risner made it abundantly clear that he wants to remain in Cincinnati, saying that he’s found a home and would “love to stay and be a Bengal.”

Risner also said he hopes the Bengals don’t let him “get to March”, meaning, they re-sign him as soon as possible.

Then, on Friday, he was asked what his New Year’s resolution is.

He said (with a laugh): “To avoid being signed in August or September. That’s my New Year’s resolution. Make sure you send that straight to Duke Tobin and the whole Bengals organization for me.”

WANTS to be signed ASAP ✅ https://t.co/LlqgqYWMjS pic.twitter.com/Vi0vK5w3a2

— Max Murphy (@maxmurp_) January 2, 2026

Keeping Risner shouldn’t be hard, as the 30-year-old didn’t even command $2 million last year. And his production speaks for itself. In 699 snaps, he has only been charged with three penalties and two sacks, according to Pro Football Focus.

So with this team’s struggles on the offensive line and disappointing finish to the year, signing Risner is about as easy of a decision as Tobin and the front office can make.

Where Bengals can pick in 2026 NFL Draft based on Week 18 results

imagn-25117631.jpg

The Cincinnati Bengals don’t have any playoff hopes on the line against the Cleveland Browns. It is a real match of pride in Week 18 for the players on the field. Maybe they are even getting some plays on tape so they can find a team to sign them this offseason. We are fans, though, so what really matters is that draft pick.

The NFL draft order is determined by record, and then tiebreakers come down to things like strength of schedule (which we will refer to as SOS from here on out). There can be tiebreakers beyond that, but SOS takes care of most tiebreakers between teams with the same records. After all, we have seen the NFL pull out the old coin toss to determine a draft pick until around 2019, when they added many more tiebreakers.

But let’s get into where the Bengals could end up drafting.

Where do the Bengals currently pick?

Cincinnati is currently selecting at No. 9 if the draft order were to be determined last week. A top 10 selection is a nice consolation, but the odds of staying there are not great.

Right now, the Bengals are locked into a range between pick No. 8 and pick No. 12.

Who matters?

The teams that determine most of the movement we will be talking about today are the Kansas City Chiefs and the New Orleans Saints. Those are the other two teams at 6-10 going into Week 18.

  • The Chiefs will be on the road against the Las Vegas Raiders (who could own the No. 1 pick with a loss)
  • The Saints will be on the road against the Atlanta Falcons (who traded their first round pick to the Los Angeles Rams)

These seem like games that Kansas City and New Orleans are capable of winning. However, Cincinnati is also going to be at home facing the Cleveland Browns and is heavily favored.

How the Bengals pick No. 8

  • The Bengals lose to the Browns
  • The Saints defeat the Falcons
  • The Chiefs defeat the Raiders

This outcome seems unlikely just from the fact that Cincinnati has a good shot of beating Cleveland, but the Browns have been known to sometimes have their number. The defense will also be playing hard to get Myles Garrett the single-season sack record.

New Orleans has won four straight and has been one of the hottest teams in the NFL after their terrible start. The real challenge will be Kansas City facing Las Vegas. It is essentially a tank off as both teams have shut down key starters for the year. The Raiders obviously have the most to lose by winning, as they currently control that first overall pick.

How the Bengals pick No. 12

  • The Bengals defeat the Browns
  • The Saints lose to the Falcons
  • The Chiefs lose to the Raiders

Picking 12th isn’t a death sentence. It is still likely the team could land a quality player there. Cincinnati would have been able to land someone like tight end Tyler Warren or defensive tackle Walter Nolan with that pick last season

It’s on Cincinnati to find a player who can make a big impact early on instead of taking another multi-year developmental guy.

Dylan Fairchild makes an NFL All-Rookie Team

imagn-26819471.jpg

Ask Cincinnati Bengals’ left guard Dylan Fairchild about the keys to his improvement this season, and he will sum it up in one word – fundamentals.

“The fundamental, basic stuff is what’s gonna get the win,” Fairchild said in a locker room interview before the Week 17 game against the Arizona Cardinals. “It all comes down to knowing your teammates, knowing the guys that are next to you.”

Fairchild’s contributions were recognized recently when he was named to the NFL All-Rookie team compiled by ESPN’s Ben Solak. Fairchild was tabbed as a second-team selection behind Seattle’s Grey Zabel.

“One of the least-known rookies on this list, Fairchild has gotten better each week and makes splash blocks with impressive quickness and core strength for his size,” Solak wrote. “He was a developmental player coming out of Georgia and looks to be ahead of his curve. He’s a nice middle-round find for the Bengals.”

The Bengals selected Fairchild in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft at No. 81 overall, and he stepped into a starting role almost immediately. To date, he has earned an overall grade of 60.8 from Pro Football Focus, good for 42nd among all eligible guards.

Fairchild has been most efficient at pass blocking with a 66.8 grade that ranks him among the top 28 guards. He has allowed only two sacks and five hits so far this season, with 29 total pressures, and has been a key cog in an offensive line that is allowing a 5.4% sack rate, good for 11th best in the NFL.

“I’d say just the feel of the game,” Fairchild said of his development. “Orlando (Brown Jr.) and Ted (Karras) have helped me a ton with that. Just feeling the game, and just kind of dialing it down in terms of the simplicity of it. It’s a super detailed game, and you’ve got to lock in and key in on those details. But it’s still football, you know? It’s complex, but it’s simple. You can make it simple.”

Fairchild has struggled somewhat with his run blocking, and his PFF grade of 57.4 reflects those struggles. But he knows where to find the answers.

“Just great execution, seeing through one set of eyes and just trusting in our fundamentals,” Fairchild said. “Everything breaks down to the basic techniques and fundamental stuff that we do. Just playing as one unit, playing as one.”

The Zac Taylor era with Cincinnati Bengals should end, even if it won’t in 2026

gettyimages-2253845750.jpg

The Bengals’ 2025 season ends in the most poetic way as the Cleveland Browns come to Paycor Stadium and pick up a week 18 win over Cincinnati, 20-18.

The Bengals beat themselves (yet again) with a Joe Burrow 97-yard pick-six, and Noah Fant’s fumble returned for a touchdown, gifting the Browns 14 of their 20 points. It’s been a familiar theme of ‘finding ways to lose’ since the the year 2019, when Zac Taylor just happened to be hired by the Bengals.

The Browns’ offense was bad and only posted six total points as a unit, but the Bengals’ defense had another chance to win the game with under 2 minutes left and could not do it, again.

This theme to a game has gotten so unbelievably stale for Bengals fans, and now the season comes to an end with a 6-11 overall record.

Any franchise would be ready to make a head coaching change after this disaster of a season and three straight years without a playoff appearance.

But not the Bengals (likely).

Taylor has shown time and time again that he is not built to be an NFL head coach and struggles every week to manage games properly.

It is safe to say that Bengals fans would love for Taylor’s time to be over in Cincinnati, but for some reason, he will likely be back in 2026, largely due to the fact he’s under contract for one more season, and Mike Brown hates paying buyout money like people hate paying taxes.

On the other side of the field today, the Browns are expected to move on from two-time Coach of the Year Kevin Stefanski.

Stefanski would thrive in Cincinnati if given the opportunity, so why not move on from Taylor and hire him? He has shown he can coach with a competent roster and even find ways to win with some of the worst rosters in the NFL.

At this point, Bengals fans are ready for just about any person on this planet other than Taylor to be the head coach. Too bad Mike Brown isn’t one of them.

Bengals release statement on keeping Duke Tobin and Zac Taylor

gettyimages-1094167568.jpg

The Cincinnati Bengals just wrapped up yet another season without a playoff berth. Joe Burrow missed significant time again. The defense that plagued the team in 2024 somehow managed to get worse in 2025. Burrow’s dedication to Cincinnati and the game of football was questioned after press conferences. It was as bleak a season as we have seen since 2020, when the Bengals chose to retain Zac Taylor and issue a press release to their fans, confirming their support for him.

On Monday, it was a bit like Groundhog Day.

That’s right — Director of Player Personnel Duke Tobin and Head Coach Zac Taylor will be back in 2026.

“After thoughtful consideration, I am confident that Duke Tobin and Zac Taylor are the right leaders to guide us forward,” Bengals owner Mike Brown said in his statement.

This is the first time Brown has specifically mentioned Tobin in a release like this. Until this point, Tobin’s job was never considered to be in jeopardy. The failures in the NFL Draft and free agency in recent years brought Tobin’s name into speculation in the media for the first time this season, but Brown is not moving on from his “de facto” general manager.

“We are fully committed to delivering results that match the pride, passion, and expectations of this organization and our fans,” Brown said to end his statement.

Are we looking at Marvin Lewis 2.0? It is starting to seem that way. Taylor has two years remaining on his contract, something we just learned in recent weeks. With that being the case, it is safe to assume Taylor will return in 2027, regardless of how next season goes.

Bengals roasted on Twitter after announcing no staff/coaching changes will be made after disastrous season

gettyimages-2253822038.jpg

The regular season is over, and for the third consecutive season, the Cincinnati Bengals will be watching the playoffs from the outside. This is the same Bengals that went to the Super Bowl in 2021 and the AFC Championship game in 2022.

Since then, though, the front office has allowed the roster to stagnate and has refused to make the necessary changes that could help them get to where they say they want to go.

Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, and Tee Higgins will not be in their primes forever. Every single year that goes by where the best QB-WR-WR trio in the NFL misses the playoffs is a tragedy, and three years in a row is inexcusable.
It’s more likely than not that any other franchise, in the same situation, would have fired everyone by now.

The Bengals, however, are not most franchises. After announcing on X on Black Monday that they would be keeping Duke Tobin, Zac Taylor, and no coaching changes would be made, fans took to the platform to voice their displeasure at the situation.

Here are some examples:

Another perfect illustration of "actions speak louder than words." People say things all the time. But if the actions do not align with the words, it's all fluff. In many instances, these scenerios can be boiled down to incompetence or apathy. Or perhaps, a healthy dose of both. https://t.co/iPZ2BraLe1

The fact Mike Brown and the Bengals org put an official statement out on retaining Taylor and Tobin is a change from previous tendencies.

Duke Tobin being offered up to the local media on Friday, days after being eliminated and not just at the Combine, is, as well.

The Bengals are retaining HC Zac Taylor & de facto GM Duke Tobin, per @AdamSchefter.

THIS MAKES NO SENSE. These two jobs would easily be the most appealing vacancies this cycle.

All I have to say is that this is organizational malpractice at its finest.

Thoughts on the #Bengals:
I am confident the Brown/Blackburn Family just doesn't want to win championships.

I am VERY certain Zac Taylor and Duke Tobin are NOT capable leaders, unless you consider them leading us to our worst stretch of football in a long time "good." https://t.co/idXjVeTD33

— Robert Dylan (@_RobDylan) January 5, 2026
I cannot believe the Bengals are bringing back Zac Taylor. This is GREAT news…for the rest of the AFC. Not only that, but Duke Tobin, who is near braindead. Garbage franchise, hopefully Burrow and Chase can finish their career somewhere else. https://t.co/Wn0uPXvDGb

Bengals CB Cam Taylor-Britt sentenced to jail time

gettyimages-2231426523.jpg

2025 was a tough season for Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt. He found himself on the bench after poor play before a Lisfranc injury put an end to his season in November.

His rookie contract expires when the new league year begins in March, and while he said he is open to staying in Cincinnati, he would also be interested in a chance of scenery.

On Tuesday, we learned that Taylor-Britt will now be doing jail time for an incident that occurred in September, following the Bengals’ win vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor Britt just pleaded guilty to reckless driving and no license. He was sentenced to five days in jail and he’s headed there right now. The CPD officer says the reckless driving happened on Joe Nuxhall Way. pic.twitter.com/ivTIH8NfQR

— Chelsea Sick (@chelseasicknews) January 6, 2026

Taylor-Britt was initially arrested for reckless driving and driving without a license following the Bengals’ home opener. He pled guilty, accepted the jail time, and can be seen in Chelsea Sick’s post walking away with crutches and a walking boot. He will serve five days behind bars.

Taylor-Britt could likely find himself in search of a new team in March, and the footage of him being escorted to jail could hurt his market, but we have seen players who have done far worse still land with another team as well.

Taylor-Britt appeared to be rising up the cornerback rankings in 2023, but the past two seasons have been down years for the young corner. Dax Hill and DJ Turner have looked to secure the outside corner spots in Al Golden’s defense, so Taylor-Britt will likely test the market for a chance to start.

The Bengals have not issued a comment on this matter.

Would you replace Zac Taylor with John Harbaugh?

imagn-27691875.jpg

Some major AFC North news broke on Tuesday evening as the Baltimore Ravens are finally moving on from John Harbaugh.

A move that may be shocking to some, with a roster as stacked as they have had as of late and no Super Bowl rings to show for it, it kind of makes sense overall.

Now obviously, Harbaugh becomes one of the hottest names on the market in this NFL coaching cycle. With several jobs already open, it will be interesting to see where he lands.

However, it does beg one question: Would you replace Zach Taylor with Harbaugh if given the opportunity?

Being a rival to this fanbase for so long might make it hard for some to really picture him trading his purple and black for orange and black, but it is a good discussion point. Posting 11 double-digit win seasons during his 18 years leading Baltimore, it is hard to deny that Harbaugh knows how to win games. He has just been unable to win the big one outside of 2012.

Would you make the swap if Harbaugh wanted to be in the Queen City? Let us know in the comments below!
