Twitter hammers Zac Taylor and Bengals after deflating loss to the Steelers

The Bengals got an injection of hope recently with the news that Joe Burrow would not only be back this season, but earlier than expected, with a potential Thanksgiving return.

With the prospect of Burrow returning, the Bengals could turn their attention to a potentially season-defining game against the Steelers. With a 3-6 record, the team needs to win the majority of its remaining games if they are going to make the playoffs.

However, despite a seemingly renewed sense of potential for the season, the offense came out flat against the Steelers, with the magic from Joe Flacco not continuing. While that would make the game seem completely hopeless, the defense actually managed to hold its own for the majority of the game. Like so many recent weeks, though, the defense folded when it mattered most. The offense had brought it back to a one-possession game in the fourth quarter, and the defense gave up a lengthy touchdown drive, essentially sealing the Bengals’ fate in this game.

The team now needs to be nearly perfect down the stretch to have a hope in the playoffs, and with a matchup against a talented Patriots team, it is tough to see a path to relevance this season. So let’s take a look at the Twitter reactions to the Bengals’ loss to the Steelers.

Bengals vs. Twitter Reactions

The Bengals really were down 10-9 with Mason Rudolph in and somehow lost 34-12.

Zac Taylor…

Where the Steelers passing offense targeted the Bengals defense

CBs: 5 of 10 for 43 yards

LBs: 10 of 12 for 129 yards and 2 TD

Safeties: 4 of 5 for 48 yards

For those fans that have hope…

There have been two teams in NFL history that started a season 3-7 and made the playoffs:

1) The 2020 Commanders
2) The 2022 Jaguars

This is the 20th season with 7 or more losses after 10 games. This is the Bengals 58th season.

This is it. 💯

We get baited into believing and it's never sustainable. Eventually, the dam breaks. https://t.co/YvXQovmSin

Bengals season is over

Evaluation time

Experiment, play different players, fire some coaches, try different defensive play calls (blitz more)

Bengals were coming off a bye.

Steelers defense is ranked 28th.

Mason Rudolph played the entire second half.

And they’re down 34-12.

Unacceptable at every level.

I’d fire everyone off vibes alone. Dark cloud over this team the past few seasons…

I just can’t see how Zac Taylor and Duke Tobin survive this. One or both has to go after this year.

A truly pathetic performance man. Truly

— Teth-Adam (@DCRezz) November 16, 2025
@Bengals Are you there? Please do something do prove to us why we should continue to believe in your ability to run this organization. Fire Zac Taylor before he gets back to Cincinnati. Being conservative isn't going to work anymore. WE NEED CHANGE. #Bengals #WhoDey

@FBI @NFL @nflcommish i need you all to investigate the hc in cincy. There’s no way the mob has nothing to do with this. Zac Taylor is fkn despicable.. 😒

— 𝓛𝓾𝓿 𝓙𝓪𝓴𝓮 (@Jake_html) November 16, 2025
@JoeyB if you can read this, don’t come back this year.

— JONNY 🏈 (@JonnyBengal) November 16, 2025
It’s the perfect time to move on from Zac

— Lindsay Patterson (@LndsPatterson) November 16, 2025
Fire Duke Tobin!!

Fire Zac Taylor!!

Clean house and hire an actual front office staff, let them hire a coach who brings in their entire staff, expand the scouting department, and keep the family out of personnel decisions.

Won’t happen, but that is what they need. We all know…

Bengal’s tomorrow morning probably : Zac Taylor has agreed to a contract extension through 2031 https://t.co/GWPAbDM7mE

3 things we learned from the Bengals’ deflating loss to the Steelers

The Cincinnati Bengals’ season is all but over.

Their last chance to keep their postseason hopes alive until Joe Burrow can return was an unmitigated disaster, with Cincinnati losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers by 22 points.

As always, the Bengals can try to learn from their mistakes. (At this point, they must have multiple Ph.D.s in losing.)

Here’s what we learned:

Joe Flacco is not healthy

Don’t let the veteran’s 470-yard performance against the Chicago Bears a week after an AC joint injury fool you.

He is hurting.

Since he arrived in Cincinnati, Flacco has been a downfield machine. But that was not the case against Pittsburgh.

The pain in his shoulder is likely to blame for a less aggressive passing attack and throws with less zip than you expect from the big-armed QB.

Zac Taylor has 100% lost control of this team

After Jake Browning missed Ja’Marr Chase badly in a Monday night game vs. the Denver Broncos, the star WR had some words for his coach on the sideline.

In the postgame press conference, Taylor praised Chase for his desire to win instead of attempting to diffuse the situation in front of the media. That is somewhat different from how he handled Chase Brown criticizing the defense, largely because of the cache that the receiver has.

But now it seems that Taylor simply doesn’t have his team disciplined, and that includes Chase.

Video evidence suggests that Chase spit on Jalen Ramsey, which would be a shocking move from a level-headed player who takes football very seriously.

Field-level view of the second altercation between Ja'Marr Chase and Jalen Ramsey. Chase said "I didn't spit on nobody."

The video clearly shows he did.#Bengals @FOX19 pic.twitter.com/ooGzInoPdS

— Austin Briski (@austin_briski) November 16, 2025

This came just a couple weeks after some defensive players reportedly laughed off interviews following a defensive collapse against the Chicago Bears and said “catch you on Monday.”

The image of these current Bengals is one of a team that doesn’t have any sort of leadership in Burrow’s absence.

Taylor’s strength used to be his ability to unite his players. That appears to be gone now.

Myles Murphy may not be a bust

There could be a silver lining for the defense.

Myles Murphy, who hasn’t really flashed potential since being drafted in round one a couple years ago, had his best game yet as a Bengal, notching four pressures, a sack, and six stops.

PFF has Myles Murphy currently charted for 4 pressures including a sack, and 6 "stops" (defined as tackles that constitute a "failure" for the offense – think success rate)

It'd be pretty cool if this is a game we look back at as a breakout game for Murphy.

Hopefully it’s a sign of things to come.
