Bedard Out, Lardis Time? Kane Chasing History, a Brossoit Goal! West Scores Two! and Other Blackhawks Bullets

Usually I have prospect highlights a little lower in our bullets, but the injury suffered by Connor Bedard last night makes it feel like a call to Rockford might need to happen. The good news is the IceHogs were at home, so it’s only a drive to get someone to Chicago.
The most likely candidate to bring some offense to help the Blackhawks if Bedard is going to miss any significant time would be Nick Lardis, who scored his 13th goal of the season for the IceHogs last night. Here are a couple angles of the goal (Landon Slaggert had the primary assist).

- Patrick Kane returns to the United Center with a chance to make some history tonight. If he stole the show on the night the Blackhawks retired Chris Chelios’ jersey, imagine if he can produce a hat trick on the night they give away a Chelios bobblehead to reach 500 career goals — in the building where he built his legend. Kane comes into tonight’s game with 497 career regular season goals.
- Good read here from Scott Powers on the Söderblom brothers. Arvid will get the nod between the pipes tonight.

- Before I get into a trade big board, two significant deals went down on Friday. The first saw the Pittsburgh Penguins acquire goaltender Stuart Skinner, defenseman Brett Kulak and the Edmonton Oilers’ second-round pick in the 2029 NHL Draft in exchange for goaltender Tristan Jarry and forward Sam Poulin. In a separate deal, the Oilers acquired defenseman Spencer Stastney from the Nashville Predators for a third-round pick in the 2027 NHL Draft.
- The other big trade — among the biggest we’ve seen in the past few years — was Quinn Hughes getting traded to Minnesota just a few minutes before the Blackhawks started in St. Louis.
- The folks at ESPN put together a lengthy, detailed trade big board this week. The headline is all of the mind-numbing Quinn Hughes scenarios; those are obviously now out-dated. But they discuss the top tier guys who are in walk years, guys with some term left, short-term rentals who could help a team in the postseason, bargain shoppers’ delights and the always-entertaining goalie market. There are a few Blackhawks mentioned: Laurent Brossoit, Jason Dickinson and Connor Murphy. A good one to look thru and consider if there are any names out there that would make sense for the Blackhawks to consider adding at this point.
The new NHL trade big board on ESPN has dropped!
Plenty of Quinn Hughes news and scenarios, plus shocking possibilities, elite free agents and overlooked gems who could be the difference-makers in winning the Stanley Cup. My latest:https://t.co/BjiINMkMYL

- Sticking with Brossoit, strong comments here from the Blackhawks’ netminder as he works his way back with the IceHogs.
#Blackhawks goaltender Laurent Brossoit says he has a new motivation in his career:

- When he prioritized things differently, I wonder if scoring goals was anywhere on that list. Because Brossoit scored a goalie goal last night!

- Staying in Rockford but shifting our focus to the younger guys, the IceHogs scored four times in the second period last night. Both Sam Rinzel and Ethan Del Mastro picked up two assists in the middle frame. And Martin Misiak scored his first professional goal last night for the IceHogs as well.
