News Senators Team Notes

Game Day – Senators Return Home to Host Bruins

It’s safe to say that we’re still kind of getting to know this year’s version of the Ottawa Senators.

It’s been a bit of an up and down start and obviously the injury to the Captain took the wind out of their sails a bit but there are signs that this team might still be ready to build on last season. The win over the Washington Capitals on Saturday night was their best performance of the year and honestly, no other game comes close. That was complete domination from start to finish.

The Senators look to build on that when they host the Boston Bruins on Monday night in Ottawa.

We’ll confirm the lineup later this morning. Let’s assume same thing for now.

Cousins-Stutzle-Batherson
Greig-Cozens-Perron
Amadio-Pinto-Giroux
MacDermid/Lyksell-Eller-Zetterlund

Sanderson-Zub
Chabot-Jensen
Kleven-Matinpalo

Leevi Merilainen starts. Hunter Sheppard has been recalled and will dress as the back up with Ullmark getting a full night off.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7:08 PM at The Tire. Thanks to the developing Alliance between Jeff Bezos and the NHL, the game is available on Amazon Prime Video. Not clear what this means for the facilitation of pirate-led illegal internet streams but yer best bet is to keep an eye on the comment section closer to game time.

Really mailed it in today.

Wondering how these teams match up and also longing for a collection of expertly crafted columns and rows outlining basic statistical information? Well then have I got a treat for you. The award-winning HEAD2HEAD table is back and more better than ever. Or at least just as good. Anyway, it’s back.

Game Day – Senators Travel to Chicago to Visit Hawks

Like a bunch of pumpkins on a hill, the Ottawa Senators are on a roll!

Ya know what, in hindsight, maybe it wasn’t the best idea to stay up until 3 AM watching baseball last night. Things are a little fuzzy today. Anyway, I guess what I’m trying to say is, let’s keep this thing goin’, shall we?

On the heels of a third straight win, the Senators are right back at it tonight as the pay a visit to Connor Bedard and whoever (whomever?) else plays for the Chicago Blackhawks.

Expecting a couple changes on the back-to-back but we’ll confirm a little closer to game time. Certainly seems like a good opportunity to get Jordan Spence back in there.

Puck drop is at 8:45 PM for reasons unknown to me. Consider me equal parts scared and intrigued. The game is on TSN5 and on the radio at TSN1200 and en francais sur le 94.7. Streams shall be made available in the comment section below.

A closer look at this evening’s match-up via the finest collection of columns and rows you’ll find anywhere on the information super-highway. It’s the HEAD2HEAD table.

Game Day – Senators vs. Toilet Seats on Saturday Night

As the calendar rolls over to November, the Ottawa Senators are doin’ just fine, thank you.

Sure, October had its ups and downs but if you look at the month as a whole, the Sens have to be pretty okay with where they stand. The loss of Brady Tkachuk had the potential to derail this season early but Ottawa has managed to stay afloat so far. A 6-5-1 record in October has them sitting third place in the Atlantic Division and very much in the thick of things in the East.

They face one of the teams they’re chasing on Saturday night in Montreal.

It probably goes without saying but this is a big one for the Senators. Not just because they’re playing against the Atlantic Division leader and not just because a loss to Montreal has a way of boiling the blood a little bit but also because after tonight, the Senators have a full five days off. They don’t play again until Thursday night. And I am not sure any of us are ready for that kind of sustained fan ansgt.

So uh, win please.

We’ll confirm the lineup after the morning skate but safe to say it will look something like this.

Cousins-Stützle-Batherson
Greig-Cozens-Perron
Amadio-Pinto-Giroux
MacDermid-Eller-Zetterlund

Sanderson-Zub
Chabot-Jensen
Kleven-Spence

Linus Ullmark is expected to get the start in goal.

Puck drops at 7:08 PM. Around 8 PM is when you’re gonna wanna get that second screen fired up. CityTV and Sportsnet East have the broadcast. TSN1200 and 94.7 have the radio feed. And streams should show up in the comment section a little closer to game time.

Here’s a closer look at tonight’s match-up via the WILDLY popular HEAD2HEAD table featuring the WILDLY popular toilet seat picture.

Batherson Named Second Star of the Week

Under normal circumstances, something like this probably wouldn’t call for a stand-alone article a few hours after the actual announcement but I just we couldn’t let that damn Game Day post linger there for the rest of the week.

Desperate times.

With a few days off between games, a member of YOUR Ottawa Senators is receiving some recognition for a job well done. Earlier today (much earlier), the NHL announced that Drake Batherson is the league’s Second Star of the Week. Batherson finished with 3 goals and 5 assists during the team’s four games last week.

Lukas Dostal, Drake Batherson and Philipp Kurashev have been named the NHL’s “Three Stars” for the week ending Nov. 2.

Despite the solid showing, Batherson still found himself answering some tough questions about his turnover in overtime on Saturday night.

The Ottawa Senators next game comes on Thursday night when they host the Boston Bruins.

Game Day – Senators Visit Flyers on Saturday Afternoon

They are not to be taken lightly.

They have at least a point in six of their last seven contests and they have just one regulation loss in the last 17 days. In terms of generating offence, including goals for and power play success rate and shots on goal, they are among the league’s best. Despite injuries to key players, they’re right in the thick of things in the Eastern Conference. Yes indeed, the Ottawa Senators are red hot.

The Senators visit the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday afternoon.

No game day skate so we’ll have to wait until closer to game time to find out if there are any changes planned. Expecting both Jordan Spence and Olle Lycksell to be in there though.

Two games this weekend so expect Ullmark and Merilainen to each get a game. The order is unclear.

Puck drops at 1:08 PM in Philadelphia. Govern yourselves accordingly. The game is on TSN5 and on the radio at TSN1200 and 94.7 FM en francais. Early-rising internet pirates are hard at work to get you some streaming options in time for this afternoon.

Wondering how these teams match up and have a thing for neatly arranged columns and rows? Well then cast your gaze downwards.
