Lightning sign college free agent forward

The Tampa Bay Lightning have had their fair share of drafted college players choose not to sign with the organization. Cole Gutman, Sammy Walker, and Eamon Powell are three rather recent examples of players who felt their path to the NHL lay in a different direction. Now it appears that the tables have turned a bit, and the Lightning are taking advantage of a team’s draft rights expiring on a…

2025 Tampa Bay Lightning Top 25 Under 25: #13 Dyllan Gill

It’s been an interesting few seasons for Dyllan Gill. He missed most of one season with a shoulder injury and then spent last season with the Syracuse Crunch before being reassigned to a new team in junior hockey. Hopefully this season is a bit calmer for the young defenseman. It was an interesting season for the then 20-year-old defenseman. He managed to crack…

Lightning Morning News: Tampa Bay picks up first win of the preseason

The Tampa Bay Lightning’s quest to never lose again got off to a good start as they took down the Carolina Hurricanes, 2-1, to kick off their preseason slate of games. Goals from Emil Lilleberg (!) and Mitchell Chaffee (on the power play) proved to be enough as Jonas Johansson stopped 30 of 31 shots. The dastardly Logan Stankoven broke up the shutout with a power play goal in the third period.

Lightning Round: Coach Cooper relays some good news about Andrei Vasilevskiy

“We’re taking zero chances”. That’s how Coach Jon Cooper responded to a question about injuries (Pontus Holmberg in particular) in training camp. With Brayden Point and Holmberg joining Andrei Vasilevskiy on the sidelines, there was some concern about the health of the team overall. While Coach Cooper acknowledged that some of the players are a little dinged up, he didn’t seem too concerned…
