Sony Norway's Facebook page features a mysterious old picture of a Norwegian explorer. What could it be pointing to?

The man in the picture is Norwegian explorer Fridtjof Nansen, who went to the North Pole and traversed Greenland. The word across his face means "unexplored" in Norwegian.

This has lead to speculation that the image may be a tease for something related to the Uncharted franchise – especially after Sony Denmark posted a similar campaign leading up to Uncharted 3.

This could be huge. It does seem a bit early for a new Uncharted to be announced, but you never know.

Apparently there is no Norwegian word for "Uncharted", so Uutforsket (Unexplored) could just be the closest thing to it.

Also, two sites were made - http://outforskat.se/]outforskat.se/ for Sweden, and http://uutforsket.no/]uutforsket.no/ for Norway - featuring the date March 21st, 2012 (tomorrow), KL 20.59 (I believe that means 20:59 Norwegian time, which would be 3:59pm EST), a picture of Stockholm and a map of Norway, and a beautiful song that sounds very fitting to the Uncharted series.

I guess we'll see tomorrow what this is all about. I can't wait. :D

This is exciting....I like the way Sony does things like this as hints.

Does seem kinda early for the next Uncharted...maybe a DLC?

Possibly. But I don't see how Norway would fit as DLC, since Uncharted 3 took place mainly in and ended in Arabia.

I just hope this doesn't mean Uncharted becomes a yearly-release franchise, like CoD or Assassin's Creed.

Maybe it'll be a CoD map DLC,...

Haha, that would tick so many people off. Including me.

Haha yeah I'd be so mad.

I'd say this has like a 99%+ chance to be something Uncharted related. I mean, c'mon-- Unexplored (closest word to Uncharted in Norwegian), very Uncharted-like music, similar to an Uncharted 3 campaign done by Sony Denmark, a picture of a famous explorer, and the Uncharted font used for the website. It's got to be...

Maybe they're announcing that they've sold the rights to Uncharted to Nintendo.....

Or that Uncharted pillow pets hit the store shelves next year.

Or maybe (if we're lucky) they're announcing a Uncharted X Fallout game....I'd die.

I'd prefer the middle one.

So quite a bit of stuff has gone on since my last post here. One of my friends at VGBoxart is going all treasure-huntish and discovering a bunch of stuff. I'm just gonna quote his posts.

Very interesting. In the uutforsket.no website, I did some investigating and found some very interesting clues. One of the site resources is linking from a file location on someones computer. Not just anyone either, but Christian Calmar. From his http://dk.linkedin.com/pub/christian-calmar/26/34a/511]LinkedIn:
Community Manager at Nordisk Film Interactive - PlayStation
Owner & Producer at Bifrost Productions I/S

The lines of code I uncovered from the webpage:

Uutforsket

Something else that is very interesting is the folder in which it's located. "Nyt website". That may be an abbreviation or codename for the game itself.

I'll look into the other website and see if I can find anything else. One thing for sure, from this investigation is that it is being developed in Denmark at Nordisk Film Interactive/Bifrost Productions.
WOW. Found something else. I opened the background image in a new webpage, and it was saved under the name wallpaper1.jpg. I changed this to wallpaper.jpg and got this image:

wallpaper.jpg

Now we just need to scan that code.
The code translates to this:

"last letter are: K"

Now translating the text under the image.
The text underneath translates to this:

"Build your collection letters for a word and write it as"

Note that I used Google Translate so it may be a little off.
The image with the code was created on October 13th, 2011. Adobe CS5.1 on a Mac, which would go along with the Christian Calmer Mac file path in my initial post.

Edit: There is a mysterious Vimeo page now, with a video posted:
http://vimeo.com/uutforsket]vimeo.com/uutforsket

Edit: The title of that video (Frognerparken), translates to "Frogner Park", a location in Norway:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frogner_Park]en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frogner_Park
That video on Vimeo seems to emphasis the letter K as well, so that may have something to do with the title. Also, I downloaded the embedded song from the webpage and found this in the files comments:

00000431 0000038D 00001BD2 0000191F 0000C249 0000DCEB 000092C5 000089F7 0000DDBC 0000DDBC

Working on trying to find out what this can be translated to. It's like he purposely left clues everywhere.

Edit: At the end of the video, text can be translated to:

"How many statues are there in the park?
uutforsket.no / your answer"

So yeah, it's all very interesting.

I searched around and it says that there are 212 statues in the park, but uutforsket.no/212 leads to a 404 error.

Also, I saved the music from the website to my computer... just sayin'. :P

Yeah... it just turned out to be an online treasure hunt.

Such a huge disappointment. :P

Okay, so even more stuff has happened since my last post. I don't feel like quoting it all, so if you want to see it, just read through this thread: http://vgboxart.com/forums/showthread.php?27529-What-Is-Sony-Teasing]vgboxart.com/forums/showthread.php?27529-What-Is-Sony-Teasing

It's very interesting. This is probably my favorite teaser ever made. :P

It's awesome that just VGBoxart and very few other people have made it this far in the hunt, let alone know it exists. Especially since it's mainly me and one other person finding it all out. I think I'm gonna try and keep this a secret until we figure it out or until the the info is released tomorrow.

I love treasure hunts. Especially on the internet. Secret links on websites are awesome. When I had the tswfans.com domain, I had a few random websites on it. Like one of them was tswfans.com/troll, and I had a troll face on it.

It's too bad this was a disappointment though.
