What are good toppings for a salad?

How do you mix up your salad toppings for that textural and flavor variety! I know that toppings like croutons and nuts offer a pleasant crunch, what do you add to have a unique flavor?

Me I add fried cashews and chicken pieces to my salad. I also add soft avocado and bitter tomatoes for a different taste and unique mouthfeel.
