Even if you just take the last month in the MLB it has been greatness. Boston who was 9 games up in the wild card at the beginning of the month is suddenly tied with the Rays. The same has happened in the NL. The Yankees and Phillies run away with home field advantage but it's a fight to the death for the other two teams. It isn't often in baseball that the last game of a season can mean so much but it does for 8 teams.
In the AL it means so much for the Rays and Red Sox who are tied for first place in the wild card. If one wins and the other loses on the last day than the other team will go to the playoffs. If they wind up tied they will have to play an extra game to decide who will go to the playoffs.
Also in the AL the Rangers are trying to hold off the Tigers for home field advantage in the first round. If the Rangers can win today than they finish one game ahead of the Tigers but if they lose it's all up to the tigers because a tie would mean that the Tigers get home field.
There's exactly the same story in the NL where the Cardinals and the Braves are tied up for the wild card and the home field advantage is lead by one game Milwaukee over Arizona.
If this is how we get into the playoffs i can only imagine what these playoffs will be like. In the longest season in sports it all comes down to the final game. That's exiting
