The Denver Broncos and Wes Welker have agreed to a two-year $12 million deal.

This is a great signing by the Broncos. Peyton Manning has got to be just ecstatic to have Wes as a target next year.

On the other hand, think about how Tom Brady probably feels. After all, he's the guy who agreed to a somewhat underpaying contract, most likely so that the Pats would have plenty of cap space to re-sign Welker.

Thoughts on the deal? Will the Manning-Welker duo work even better than the Brady-Welker combo did?

The rumors of Wes Welker jumping ship from New England to Denver bubbled up on Wednesday and they are no longer rumors: Welker agreed on a two-year deal Wednesday with the Broncos.

You can read the full story here - <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/blog/e...ceiver-wes-welker-leaves-patriots-for-broncos">http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/blog/eye-o ... or-broncos</a><!-- m -->

I guess we were wrong about him just testing the market. Thoughts? Is this a good move or a bad move on Welker's part?

Ozzie beat you to it, 209. I have merged the two topics. I am shocked about this, honestly... Denver is even better. Wes Welker, Demaryius Thomas, and Eric Decker! I wonder what will happen to Brandon Stokley now. :o

I would assume that they would make him 4th. Denver is looking ridiculously in the off season. 6 mil a year seems too cheap for Welker though...? I think Welker made a bad move on going to Denver but with the money the Patriots were offering you couldn't blame him.

I think he might have decided that he isn't going to win the Super Bowl in New England. Sure, the Patriots are always contenders in the playoffs, but he has been in New England since 2007 and still hasn't won a Super Bowl. He put up spectacular numbers in New England, but I guess he wants to win, and you could argue Denver is the better place for that, at this point. Also, with Peyton Manning throwing to him, hopefully he will continue to be up at the top of the league in total receptions.

But you have to argue that the Patriots did reach the Super Bowl twice and went further than the Broncos in last years playoffs

Playing on a team that has a knack for losing the biggest game of the year does count for much. Remember, close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. :P

The Welker Manning duo is going to be fantastic. Welker probably won't have as great of numbers as the last couple of years because Manning already has 2 favorite receivers Decker and Thomas so all 3 of them will get an equal amount of targets in my opinion. Brady has to be pissed that they lost him, but they just signed Danny Amendola today so he will be a pretty solid Welker replacement.

Untrue about Amendola. The Patriots released more information stating that they signed Amendola BEFORE the Broncos signed Welker.
The Patriots made an extremely bad move on this one.

If Amendola can stay healthy and play all 16 games next season, I think he should be able to be a pretty solid replacement for Welker. Won't be able to fully replace his 3rd down abilities with anybody though.

I still think Amendola will be an adequate replacement for Welker. Amendola has more upside and Welker isn't exactly a spring chicken either

Yeah Amendola is a lot younger so he will be around a while to develop chemistry with Brady. Won't be the same, but Brady still has the Gronk so he'll be just fine.

Curse you, Ozzie. :P

Amendola is really good when he's healthy... as long as he can stay that way, I think he and Brady will be a great duo.

The Patriots made a great move getting Amendola. That should make Tom Brady feel a little bit better, and change can be good sometimes.
