After 19 years in the MLB (17 of them with the Red Sox), knuckleballer Tim Wakefield is retiring.

He's finishing with a 200-180 record, a 4.41 ERA, and 2,156 strikeouts. He had 186 wins with the Sox, 6 shy of the team record, held by Roger Clemens. He is first among Red Sox pitchers in appearances (590), starts (430) and innings pitched (3,006).

Only Carl Yastrzemski (23), Ted Williams (19), and Dwight Evans (19) played with the Red Sox for a longer time.

Hall of Famer?

Absolutely a Hall of Famer. One of the best Knuckleball pitchers in MLB history.

Sad to see him go...he's one of my favorite pitchers.

Maybe a Hall-of-Famer. He had a great career, but didn't have outstanding stats.

And Ozzie, the Red Sox record for wins is 192, held by both Roger Clemens and Cy Young. Clemens isn't the sole leader.

I think he'll end up in the hall of fame eventually. He doesn't have the statistics, but he is arguably the best knuckleball pitcher of all time. What a great career.
