We all know that violence is a big part of ice hockey, but what about kids hockey? My brother is 12 and right he now is in the last level of non-contact in his league, so, next year at age 13, fighting would be allowed. Right now the league is talking about taking out the violence at all levels. What's your opinion on this?

It's been sewed into the fabric of hockey forever. Good luck lobbying to get violence taken out. They already penalize for fights, but they allow them to go on for a bit of time. The NHL knows that their viewership would be much lower without the violence, and that's just the sad truth.

I don't agree with at all. Too many sports, hockey included, are trying to soften and water down the league. Of course there's a chance a kid could get hurt, but that's part of the game, it's part of sports. You don't wanna see it happen, but it does. It's an intense game, sometimes you just need to take the pressure off somehow. Shake hands after the game and it's all good.

I definitely think fights are a part of hockey, however, as a responsible society we cannot encourage fighting in children at any age of minority.  If we allow this type of violence, it just makes it so wrong.  They're kids.  We can't really promote irresponsible and dangerous behavior.  However, I also think that if we don't let kids fight at say the high school level, will they know how to fight once they play college hockey?   Fighting is such an intense and exciting part of the game that I would hate to see it leave at any level, but as seriously as I take my sports, we have to draw the line somewhere as responsible adults.
