New York Giants receiver Victor Cruz has signed his first-round restricted free-agent tender worth $2.879 million, a source confirmed.

"I'm going to sign my tender today and will continue talks for a long-term deal before camp starts," Cruz told ESPN's Josina Anderson earlier Friday morning.

The move comes after months of stalled long-term extension negotiations.

The Giants had the option of reducing Cruz's tender to just over $630,000 on Monday although there was no indication the team was going to take that route, which could have potentially added tension to negotiations.

Yeah, Victor Cruz is not only an excellent receiver that has a great relationship with Eli Manning, he's also a fan favorite. They need to get a long term deal done.

I disagree and im a Giants fan. Even though Victor Cruz has put up big numbers, he is a slot WR. Most slot receivers are going to have there numbers inflated. Cruz's asking price of 8-10M is way to much, I think he deserves around 5-6 which I dont think he will sign for. After this year we should just let him walk and dont give him the franchise tag.

Yeah, I guess that is true. He also seemed to have a lot of miracle plays that you can't expect to happen again. Like that 99 yard touchdown. Anyways, isn't that what they did with Steve Smith?

Steve Smith was Eli's favorite target then he got injured and it was all downhill from there. The Eagles then signed him, then the Rams and he just retired this offseason.
