The Utah Hockey Club wants to be like Tampa Bay; Mikhail Sergachev is helping get there

It wasn't until Utah started losing that head coach André Tourigny understood how much of an impact defenseman Mikhail Sergachev would have on his team. After shooting out of the gate and winning its first three games, the Hockey Club came crashing down to earth. The team lost eight of its next 10 contests — a kind of stretch that could have sunk a young team. Leading into the season, general manager Bill Armstrong tried to tone down expectations for his club.

The 16 artists — eight at the basketball game and eight at the hockey game — are part of “En Plein Air,” a sports and arts collaboration between the Smith Entertainment Group Foundation and The Blocks, the name given by Salt Lake City and Salt Lake County to a stretch of downtown that serves as the cultural core of Utah's capital.

Brad Marchand drops truth bomb after strong Panthers debut

Brad Marchand made his Florida Panthers debut on Friday night and made an immediate impact, setting up Sam Bennett's overtime game-winning goal in a 2-1 triumph over the Utah Hockey Club at Amerant Bank Arena. “It was still different today,” Marchand told reporters afterwards, including NHL.com's George Richards. The assist was a critical one; Marchand fed linemate Bennett from behind the net, and Bennett did the rest, sending a seeing-eye backhand shot past Utah goaltender Karel Vejmelka with 41.1 seconds remaining in the extra frame.
