Analyst Says Twins Fans Are Not Happy With The Team’s Recent Spending

The Minnesota Twins missed the postseason in 2024 after finishing with a record of 82-80 and coming in fourth in the American League Central.

After winning their first playoff series in more than 20 years in 2023, the Twins followed up by collapsing in the second half of the season and missing the playoffs.

This offseason has been quiet for the Twins, as they have not made any notable acquisitions and lost multiple players as free agents.

Some notable subtractions from the organization include outfielder Max Kepler, first baseman Carlos Santana and relief pitcher Caleb Thielbar.

One MLB analyst recently revealed how Twins fans might perceive the payroll cut and subsequent lack of moves this offseason.

“It’s sort of a slap in the face to do that,” Dan Hayes said, via Foul Territory.

— Foul Territory (@FoulTerritoryTV) February 3, 2025

Hayes discusses the television problem that the Twins encountered last season, when many fans couldn’t watch the team play during a winning streak.

Along with that issue, the Twins have not shown any real effort to improve the roster this offseason.

In a division that had three teams make the postseason in 2024, the Twins will have strong competition in 2025 if they want to contend for the AL Central title.

The Twins appear to have a lot of problems to figure out both in the front office and with their fans.

It will be interesting to see if they make any last-second moves this offseason before the start of the 2025 season.

Twins President Sends A Clear Message About Team Ahead Of 2025 Season

The Minnesota Twins missed the postseason after one of the biggest collapses in recent history.

After being in a playoff position for most of the season, the Twins fell out of a wild-card position and missed the postseason after finishing with a record of 82-80 and coming in fourth place in the American League Central.

With three teams from the AL Central making the postseason, the Twins will likely have a lot of competition in 2025 if they want to win a division title.

The Twins have not made any acquisitions thus far in the offseason, but their President Derek Falvey revealed his expectations for the team in 2025.

“We feel like we have a team that can go compete this year,” Falvey said via MLB Network Radio on Sirius XM.
The @Twins have their eyes on the prize heading into 2025.

— MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM (@MLBNetworkRadio) January 19, 2025

The Twins won the AL Central in 2023, and have won the title three times in the last six seasons.

Falvey explains the lack of moves made this offseason by saying that they believe in the players they have and the leadership in the clubhouse.

Starting pitcher Pablo Lopez and shortstop Carlos Correa are named by Falvey as the leaders on the team, and he believes the team can compete for a division title in 2025.

The Twins only have two World Series titles in franchise history with the most recent coming back in 1991.

Even though the AL Central had three teams make the postseason in 2024, Falvey believes the talent of the Twins can compete with all of them.

If the Twins can stay healthy, they could be a team to watch next season.

Analyst Believes Twins Could Trade Veteran Pitcher

The Minnesota Twins suffered one of the more historic collapses in 2024 to miss the postseason after finishing with a record of 82-80.

After being in a playoff position for most of the regular season, the Twins fell apart at the end of the year and were one of only two teams in the American League Central to not make the playoffs.

Not only did the Twins have a bitter end to the season, but they have been quiet this offseason with no notable acquisitions thus far.

The Twins do have some talent on their roster, including starting pitcher Pablo Lopez.

However, MLB analyst Kevin Frandsen said he believes Lopez might be traded.

“Honestly, who wouldn’t want Pablo Lopez?” Frandsen said, via MLB Network Radio on Sirius XM.
Could Pablo López be the next big name starter on the move?

— MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM (@MLBNetworkRadio) January 2, 2025

Lopez debuted in 2018 with the Miami Marlins and played five seasons for them before coming to the Twins in 2023.

In 2024, the righty started 32 games and was 15-10 with a 4.08 ERA and 198 strikeouts in 185.1 innings pitched.

Frandsen said he believes several teams would be interested in trading for Lopez, especially with his price point compared to his performance.

Though a team would likely have to give up multiple top prospects in a trade, the Twins may be inclined to do so because they haven’t been able to improve their roster this offseason.

It will be interesting to see how the rest of the offseason plays out for the Twins and whether they choose to add some talent or trade their ace for a possible rebuild.

Insider Reveals What To Expect From Twins This Offseason

The AL Central was a unique division in the American League this season as three out of its five teams made the postseason.

While the Cleveland Guardians, Kansas City Royals and Detroit Tigers made the playoffs, the Minnesota Twins were left out, along with the abysmal Chicago White Sox.

The Twins held a playoff position for most of the season before falling off and missing out after winning the division in 2023.

With that in mind, insider Ken Rosenthal recently revealed what he believes the Twins will do this offseason.

“It seems to me that they’re not too eager to spend, that they’re going to do piecemeal things,” Rosenthal said, via Foul Territory.
What do the Twins need to do to give their fans some hope?@Ken_Rosenthal says it doesn't seem like they're too eager to spend, so they'll likely only make smaller moves — but they've also got a talented team in place right now. pic.twitter.com/z4DFhZTXwH

— Foul Territory (@FoulTerritoryTV) November 26, 2024

The Twins did finish with a winning record at 82-80, but it was not good enough to stay in the wild-card picture.

Rosenthal doesn’t expect the Twins to make any splash moves, but will make smaller moves to fill in the gaps of a roster they already like.

The bullpen is one area Rosenthal believes the Twins could address, but the big thing they need is for their top three players to stay on the field next season.

Byron Buxton, Royce Lewis and Carlos Correa provide the majority of the offense for the Twins, but they were rarely playing together due to injuries.

Last season, Buxton played in 102 games, which was his most since 2017; Correa played in 86 games and Lewis played in 82 games.

Those three players will be the key next season for the Twins, and if they all can stay healthy, Minnesota may have a chance to contend for another AL Central title.

Twins GM Says 1 Prospect Will Have A Big Role Next Season

The Minnesota Twins finished the 2024 season with a record of 82 wins and 80 losses, which gave them a fourth-place finish in the American League Central.

In a division that was responsible for three playoff teams in 2024, the Twins were not one of them as they just missed the last wild-card spot in the American League.

As the Twins prepare for the 2025 season and attempt to get back into the postseason, their General Manager Jeremy Zoll says that prospect Emmanual Rodriguez could have a big role next year.

“He’ll have a real chance to contribute here at some point next season,” Zoll said.
"Emmanuel Rodriguez will have a real chance to contribute [in the majors] next season."

— MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM (@MLBNetworkRadio) November 17, 2024

Rodriguez is a 21-year-old outfielder who is considered a five-tool player and could make an impact in the MLB as early as next season.

In 2024, Rodriguez played for four different teams and combined to bat .280 with nine home runs, 27 RBIs, and a 1.026 OPS in 47 games.

Zoll mentions that they want to ensure Rodriguez can stay healthy and be on the field as much as possible when he does make the jump to the Major Leagues.

The Twins won the AL Central in 2023, and they will try to get back to being division champions in 2025 after missing the postseason in 2024.

With three World Series titles in franchise history, the Twins haven’t won a title since 1991, which was the last time they appeared in the final series of the season.

Analyst Believes Twins Could Trade Key Veteran

A detailed view of a Minnesota Twins batting helmet and bats before the Major League Baseball game between the Minnesota Twins and the Oakland Athletics at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum on July 2, 2019 in Oakland, CA.

The Minnesota Twins finished the 2024 season with a record of 82 wins and 80 losses which was good enough for a fourth-place finish in the American League Central.

In a division that was responsible for three postseason teams in 2024, the Twins missed out on the playoffs by four games in the wild card.

The Twins team is up for sale as the Pohlad family, who has owned the Twins for the last 40 years, announced they will be selling the team.

MLB Analyst Jon Morosi believes that the sale of the team could end up with a key veteran player being traded this offseason.

“I like this idea of a Carlos Correa trade,” Morosi said.

Could Carlos Correa be traded this offseason?@jonmorosi shares some insight into the Twins' situation and mentions one AL team viewed as a potential fit.#MLBNHotStove pic.twitter.com/xAZPSD0kf5

— MLB Network (@MLBNetwork) November 12, 2024

Correa dealt with some injuries during the 2024 season and only ended up playing 86 games for the Twins.

He made the most of the games he did play however as he batted .310 with 14 home runs, 54 RBIs, and a .905 OPS.

Morosi mentions that Correa has four years left on his contract before club options become available, and this could spark the possibility of trading him.

One team Morosi mentions that could be a good fit is the New York Yankees, especially if they are unable to sign their own free agent, Juan Soto.

Correa played his third season for the Twins in 2024 after playing seven seasons with the Houston Astros.

He won the Rookie of the Year award in 2015 in his first year with the Astros.

It will be interesting to see how the offseason plays out for the Twins and if they do decide to trade Correa.

Carlos Santana Reveals How Long He Plans To Play

The Minnesota Twins were only one of two teams in the American League Central that did not make the postseason in 2024.

After the disappointing season, one Twins player who is a long-time Major League Baseball Veteran received his first ever Gold Glove Award.

Carlos Santana of the Twins has been in the league since 2010 and played for seven different organizations.

Santana is 38 years old, and his agent Ulises Cabrera revealed how many more seasons Santana plans to play.

According to MLB Network’s Jon Morosi, Cabrera said Santana is looking to play for another three or four seasons.

Free agent Carlos Santana, 38, is looking to play for another three or four @MLB seasons, his agent, Ulises Cabrera, told me today.

Santana just won his first career Gold Glove at first base, and he’s coming off his highest OPS (.749) since 2019.@MLBNetwork

— Jon Morosi (@jonmorosi) November 4, 2024

With Santana winning his first career Gold Glove award at first base and posting his highest on-base plus slugging percentage since 2019, it appears to suggest that he still has some gas left in the tank.

In 2024 with the Twins, Santana played 150 games and batted .238 with 23 home runs, 71 runs batted in, and a .749 on-base plus slugging percentage.

Santana will now hit the free agent market this offseason, and after revealing that he intends to play for a few more years, some teams may have an interest.

The Cleveland Guardians were the first team Santana played for, and he played 10 seasons for the team including his only all-star game selection in 2019.

Santana is not one of the biggest names to hit free agency this offseason, but he appears to be a player who can still make a difference for a team in need of a first baseman.

It will be interesting to see what kind of contract Santana could sign after saying he wants to play three or four more seasons.

Carlos Correa Has Historic Afternoon As Twins Rout Rockies

The Minnesota Twins had a field day with the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday afternoon.

The 17-9 final score resembles a football final more than it does a baseball one, but the Twins will surely take it.

As you probably can expect from such a lopsided game, many of the Twins hitters had excellent performances.

No one played a better game than Carlos Correa, though.

The experienced shortstop keeps surging, and went 5-for-6 with three runs against the Rockies’ hapless pitching staff.

“Carlos Correa’s first career five-hit game! 5-for-6 with five singles, three runs scored and an RBI,” Talkin’ Baseball tweeted.

— Talkin’ Baseball (@TalkinBaseball_) June 12, 2024

Correa is now hitting a cool .290/.356/.459 and keeps improving his season line with his recent performance.

He now has 15 hits in his last seven games, with a double and a home run.

Correa has fought countless high-leverage battles with the Houston Astros and even with the Twins, but Minnesota needed him to be much better than the .230/.312/.399 player he was last year, in 514 at-bats.

He is making a hefty sum of money to be one of the Twins’ leaders, both on and off the field.

For a time, it looked like he was trending to post similar numbers in 2024 to those he had in 2023, but his recent surge and the historic game he just had suggest otherwise.

Maybe he just needed a few weeks to fully catch fire, and he is currently one of the hottest players in the league.

Don’t let the early-season numbers fool you: Correa is still a star, and he is starting to play like one.

Twins Show Off New City Connect Uniforms

The Minnesota Twins finally released their City Connect uniforms.

Well, in reality, they are more like the “State Connect” unis because they represent a full state as opposed to a single city.

Minnesota, known as the “Land of 10,000 Lakes,” is famous for the high number of lakes and rivers.

Water, therefore, is a big theme in the Twins’ uniforms designed by Nike and introduced on Monday.

The bright, vibrant blue covers the players almost from top to bottom: it’s in the hat, the jersey, and the pants, and it’s easy to see why.

“We represent the Land of 10,000 Lakes,” the Twins posted on Twitter with a picture of the star players wearing the cool new unis.

— Minnesota Twins (@Twins) June 10, 2024

The Nike logo, the star above the “MN” letters in the jersey, and a part of the hats are yellow.

This, according to the Twins’ official site, was intended “to evoke the feeling of the sun shining across a lake on a day at the cabin.”

Minnesota will show off its new uniforms this upcoming Friday for the first time.

The team is also expected to use these at least 10 more times until the end of the regular season, mostly on Fridays at home.

Minnesota, the AL Central champs in 2023, lost key pieces for this season and have been closer to average in 2024, with a 34-31 record.

They are 8.5 games behind the division-leading Cleveland Guardians as of Monday afternoon.

They hope the new City Connect uniform gives them winning vibes, because they need them to keep getting closer to playoff position.

Twins Slugger Fuels Victory With Two-Homer Game Thursday

Offense hasn’t always been easy to come by for the Minnesota Twins this season, but a few excellent hitters, most notably Ryan Jeffers, have taken them to league-average status.

This is our way to say that the Twins, who won on Thursday and are now 31-25, would probably be much worse if it wasn’t for the catcher/designated hitter.

In fact, Jeffers alone represented the difference between the Twins and the Kansas City Royals on Thursday.

Minnesota won, 7-6, despite a late charge by the Royals, and Jeffers led the charge with not one, but two home runs.

“Two homers today for Ryan Jeffers!” Talkin’ Baseball tweeted.

Two homers today for Ryan Jeffers! pic.twitter.com/l9Udc7rsAp

— Talkin’ Baseball (@TalkinBaseball_) May 30, 2024

The slugger hit his 11th and 12th homers of the year in the afternoon victory, and reached an impressive 36 RBI.

He is now hitting .254/.342/.544 for the year.

As long as Jeffers is healthy and producing like this, the Twins will be there, lurking, in the AL Central race.

They are six games behind the division leaders, the Cleveland Guardians, and three games behind the Royals in the Central.

They are the reigning divisional champions, and while they might not be as strong as last year, they remain dangerous.

As for Jeffers, not only does he lead his team in home runs, but no other Twins hitter has even reached 10.

He also comfortably leads the organization in RBI: only Carlos Santana has more than 20.

If it wasn’t for Jeffers, Minnesota would probably be at .500 or even worse.

He has been the team MVP in the first couple of months, without a doubt.
