Ranking the Titans’ offensive coordinator candidates 1-4

gettyimages-2237111985.jpg

The race to become the Tennessee Titans’ offensive coordinator is beginning to heat up. The Titans interviewed three candidates on Monday, according to Paul Kuharsky. They are Kliff Kingsbury, former Bucs QB coach Thad Lewis, and current Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich. Meanwhile former Bills head coach Brian Daboll is the fourth candidate.

There’s a fifth unknown candidate according to PK who ensures the Titans are in compliance with the Rooney Rule. Because we don’t know who that candidate is, we ranked the remaining four (1-4) from best to worst.

Brian Daboll

The Titans would like to hire Daboll as their offensive coordinator as soon as possible, according to the NFL Network. The problem? He remains a candidate for the Buffalo Bills and Las Vegas Raiders head coaching jobs. The Titans have been patient. Daboll is Robert Saleh’s top candidate, and his history with developing young quarterbacks would be good news for Cam Ward.

Kliff Kingsbury

Kingsbury was supposed to interview for the Titans’ head coaching gig, but that didn’t happen. He’s discussing the team’s OC position on Monday. Kingsbury has worked with two Offensive Rookie of the Year quarterbacks in Jayden Daniels and Kyler Murray, but he washed out of both Washington and Arizona shortly after those triumphs. His Air Raid offense is an intriguing fit for Ward, given his relationship with Ward’s former HC and OC Eric Morris at Incarnate Word and Washington State.

Adam Stenavich

Stenavich is a non-play-calling coordinator under Matt LaFleur with the Packers. That’s why he’s being allowed to interview for the Titans’ play-calling role. Stenavich has a background in offensive coordinator play. He briefly worked with Saleh in San Francisco, meaning he’s well-versed in the Kyle Shanahan and LaFleur versions of the zone-based West Coast Offense. The Titans would probably take a run-heavy approach under him.

Thad Lewis

With all due respect to Lewis, the Titans appear far more interested in the other candidates. Lewis played the quarterback position, but his lack of play-calling experience doesn’t meet the Titans’ criteria. He was recently fired as the Buccaneers’ QB coach.

Titans hire Brian Daboll as offensive coordinator

gettyimages-2240194281.jpg

At long last, former New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll has agreed to become the Tennessee Titans’ offensive coordinator per Jordan Schultz.

BREAKING: The #Titans have received a commitment from Brian Daboll to become their OC, per multiple sources. He’s in Nashville now to sign.

Daboll has a strong affinity for QB Cam Ward, and the two will now officially be paired together. pic.twitter.com/oPa13EmFHy

— Jordan Schultz (@Schultz_Report) January 27, 2026

In a fun note, Jordan Schultz had it first, but the second person to come out with the news was Jelly Roll.

OFFICIAL: The #Titans have signed Brian Daboll as Offensive Coordinator

Per @jellyroll615#TitanUp

— Jelly Roll (@JellyRoll615) January 27, 2026

The Titans had to play the waiting game as Daboll was interviewing for head coaching jobs with the Buffalo Bills and Las Vegas Raiders. The Bills hired Joe Brady as their head coach. The Radiers haven’t hired a coach yet, but Daboll is apparently not getting that job.

For me, Mike McDaniel was the guy that I wanted Robert Saleh to bring with him when he got the job. Once McDaniel took the Los Angeles Chargers OC job, and it was rumored that Daboll wanted this job, I was all in on Daboll. This is a home run hire by Saleh.

Daboll was instrumental in Josh Allen’s development with the Buffalo Bills. Some people want to score Daboll down because he had Allen. Those people don’t remember how rough Allen was when he first came into the league. Daboll has proven he knows how to develop a young quarterback.

Of course, that will be the key to the job with the Titans. They have a young, very talented quarterback in Cam Ward. He just needs to right coaches around him to help him maximize that talent. Daboll is a good start for that.

Titans OC candidate Brian Daboll gets a 2nd interview with the Raiders

gettyimages-2243799578.jpg

It’s been well documented that the Tennessee Titans want to hire Brian Daboll as their next offensive coordinator. It’s been a complicated process, because Daboll was among the candidates for the Buffalo Bills‘ head coaching job. The Bills held a delayed process, but have now promoted Joe Brady to head coach, per the NFL Network.

Meanwhile the Titans have continued looking into alternative candidates to be Robert Saleh’s OC. The team completed a trio of interviews on Monday with Kliff Kingsbury, Adam Stenavich, and Thad Lewis, per Paul Kuharsky. Saleh worked in San Francisco with Stenavich, who is currently the non-play-calling OC for the Green Bay Packers.

Well, a complicated process just got even more complicated. Daboll has completed a second interview with the Las Vegas Raiders for their head coaching gig. Receiving a second interview insinuates Daboll may be a finalist for the job.

Raiders now have completed a second interview with former Giants HC Brian Daboll for their head coach opening. pic.twitter.com/dfgXQCTqTJ

— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) January 27, 2026

Daboll came closer to being named Titans OC following Brady’s appointment with the Bills. Daboll remained in the mix in Buffalo due to his relationship with Josh Allen, but Buffalo ultinately opted to promote Brady, who was getting interest elsewhere.

The Raiders have also shown significant interest in a number of coaches, including Denver Broncos QB coach Davis Webb and Carolina Panthers DC Ejiro Evero. Ironically, Brady interviewed there twice before taking the Buffalo job. Webb is a strong candidate for the Raiders job, as is Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak.

The Titans continue to play the waiting game. The Bills made their decision, possibly accelerating the process. The Raiders could wait until after Super Bowl LX to make their hire if Kubiak is their preferred candidate. The Titans don’t necessarily have to wait until every coaching hire is finalized. They are simply waiting for Daboll to find out whether or not he’s a serious candidate in Vegas.

Titans opt for experience with playcallers this time

gettyimages-842665342.jpg

Something that I didn’t think about enough when Brian Callahan put together his staff after he was hired as the head coach was how inexperienced they were. For me, the excitement of finally having an offense-minded coach distracted from the fact that he and his other two playcallers, defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson and special teams coordinator Colt Anderson, had never called a play in an NFL game. That was a terrible decision.

The Titans are not making the same mistake this time. Robert Saleh will call the defensive plays. Not only has he been a head coach in the NFL before, but he has also spent a lot of time calling defensive plays as a defensive coordinator. Brian Daboll has also been a head coach who has spent multiple years calling plays. The same can be said of John Fassel, who actually spent three games as the interim coach of the Los Angeles Rams after Jeff Fisher was fired in 2016.

Mike Herndon laid it out like this on Twitter last night:

Here are the years of play calling experience for each play caller at the time of hire for Callahan’s initial staff vs Saleh’s:

Brian Callahan: 0
Dennard Wilson: 0
Colt Anderson: 0
COMBINED: 0 yrs

Robert Saleh: 9
Brian Daboll: 12
Bones Fassel: 18
COMBINED: 39 yrs https://t.co/DsTHIu9tje

— Mike Herndon (@MikeHerndonSk1) January 27, 2026

Now, this doesn’t mean with 100% certainty that this staff will do better than the last one, but there is no doubt they are in a much better position to start.

Titans coordinator watch continues and other NFL coaching news

imagn-24450547.jpg

The Tennessee Titans announced yesterday that Robert Saleh’s introductory press conference was pushed from Wednesday to Thursday at 2 PM Central. Some logistical things on Saleh’s end needed to be worked out. Hopefully, by then, we will know who his offensive coordinator is going to be.

The search for his defensive coordinator is still ongoing as well. With Saleh planning to call the defensive plays, his DC is a less important hire than the OC. It seems they are waiting on Brian Daboll, but they did have three interviews for OC yesterday with former Washington Commanders Kliff Kingsbury, Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback coach Thad Lewis.

It was announced last night that Aaron Whitecotton will join the staff as run game coordinator/defensive line coach. Whitecotton is a highly touted guy. Quinnen Williams credits Whitecotton with helping him develop from a very good player to an All-Pro player:

New #Cowboys DT Quinnen Williams is here. I asked him how impactful Aaron Whitecotton was for him in New York.

“I think anyone can look at the resume. Before I had Whitecotton I was ascending to be a good DT. When [he] came into my life I became an All-Pro — a Pro Bowler. pic.twitter.com/jabopx5Bfj

— Joseph Hoyt (@JoeJHoyt) November 5, 2025

The Titans have reportedly interviewed Chicago Bears defensive backs coach Al Harris, Houston Texans defensive backs coach Dino Vasso, and Atlanta Falcons defensive passing game coordinator Mike Rutenberg. Harris and Vasso have ties to Titans GM Mike Borgonzi. Rutenberg has worked with Saleh at a couple of different stops. Melo ranked them here.

There are still four head coaching jobs that have not been filled – the Buffalo Bills, the Las Vegas Raiders, the Arizona Cardinals, and the Cleveland Browns. Daboll is said to be in the mix in both Buffalo and Las Vegas. The Cardinals look to be zeroing in on Mike LaFleur. The Browns’ search has been a mess, but it looks like it’s down to Jim Schwartz and Nathan Steelhaase there.

Takeaways from Titans head coach Robert Saleh press conference

Robert Saleh had his introductory press conference as the head coach of the Tennessee Titans today. He declined to get too much into what he would do differently in his second stint as a head coach, but did say that the full list is really long. One thing he did point out is that he is excited to call the defensive plays. He didn’t do that with the New York Jets. Saleh said that it will help him be more connected to the players during the game.

He said the team will be fast and violent. When asked about how we will know when his standard has been set, he said that we will be able to feel the team when we are sitting on the couch in our living rooms watching the game. When asked about the monikers he has used in the past, this was his response:

“Words are words… it’s all about the silent tape”

Titans HC Robert Saleh pic.twitter.com/dwOJ5ztNDz

— AtoZ Sports Nashville (@AtoZSports) January 29, 2026

Love that.

He obviously talked a lot about Brian Daboll. It was interesting that one of the reasons he wanted Daboll was because his offense is different than the Shanahan system that the majority of the league runs right now. Saleh said that makes game planning more of a challenge for the opposing team because the offense looks different than what a lot of the league is currently running.

Paul Kuharsky asked about the succession plan if Daboll ends up getting a head coaching job in the future. He spent time talking about developing the coaches who are on the staff, so that someone is ready to step into the role if that time comes.

As an aside, we have spent so much time worrying about what happens if Daboll is poached. If that does happen, it means the Titans’ offense has been really good. That will be a good problem to have.

Turron Davenport asked about the marrying of analytics and feel for the game when it comes to decisions made on Sundays. Saleh gave a good answer that talked about knowing the numbers, but also accounting for other factors that are happening in that specific game.

There were quite a few current Titans players in attendance for today’s presser:

Additional players here for Robert Saleh: Jeffery Simmons, Morgan Cox, Kalel Mullings, Julius Chestnut, JC Latham, Jaylen Harrell, Tyjae Spears, Femi Oladejo also coaches Tony Oden and Randy Jordan. https://t.co/0LZmiO0Y5w

10 prospects at positions of need who impressed the Titans at the 2026 Senior Bowl

gettyimages-2250606316.jpg

The 2026 Panini Senior Bowl wrapped up its trio of practices on Thursday. The Senior Bowl game will occur this weekend, but it’s the practice sessions that deliver the most notable takeaways. The Tennessee Titans were present in Mobile to collect the necessary data.

General manager Mike Borgonzi is projected to enter the 2026 NFL Draft with a number of needs to address. Wide receiver, EDGE, and cornerback are the biggest areas of the roster that require upgrading. We’ve identified 10 prospects at positions of need who impressed the Titans at the 2026 Senior Bowl.

Reggie Virgil, WR, Texas Tech

Texas Tech wide receiver Reggie Virgil was among the standout prospects in attendance. Virgil’s take-the-top-off speed consistently threatened defensive backs vertically. He deserves more attention after producing 1,521 yards and 15 touchdowns over the previous two seasons.

Reggie Virgil has another gear in open grass. He’s been awesome in Mobile. pic.twitter.com/vYZGqB2y9d

— Ryan Fowler (@_RyanFowler_) January 28, 2026

Colton Hood, CB, Tennessee

One-on-one reps always favor the offense. Tennessee Volunteers cornerback Colton Hood is among the highest-ranked prospects in attendance. If Hood is available at No. 35 overall, he should be on the Titans’ shortlist of potential picks.

Derrick Moore, EDGE, Michigan

Michigan’s Derrick Moore routinely displayed his athleticism during pass-rushing drills. Moore exploded for the Wolverines in 2025, recording a career-high 10.0 sacks. His viral rep was running straight through Miami offensive tackle Markel Bell and his 340-pound frame.

My goodness! What a rep by Michigan EDGE Derrick Moore.

— The Draft Network (@TheDraftNetwork) January 27, 2026

Zion Young, EDGE, Missouri

Missouri EDGE Zion Young is another athletic pass rusher. Young also is a high-floor prospect as a run defender. He strung together some dominant pass-rushing reps through two practices after accumulating a career-high 6.5 sacks in 2025.

Tyren Montgomery, WR, John Carroll

D-III wide receiver Tyren Montgomery wrote the most heartwarming story at this year’s Senior Bowl. A late invitee from John Carroll, Montgomery never looked outmatched. His performance possibly elevated himself into the Day Two conversation.

Charles Demmings, CB, Stephen F. Austin

The best small-school cornerback in attendance was the first Stephen F. Austin player in Senior Bowl history. Charles Demmings is physical and aggressive. Demmings is currently MCM’s favorite underrated cornerback in the 2026 NFL Draft.

T.J. Parker, EDGE, Clemson

Clemson’s T.J. Parker was probably the best-known EDGE in Mobile. Parker did not disappoint, either. His pass-rushing repertoire is a well-developed mix of power and athleticism with a long-arm move that allows him to deploy a variety of counters.

Malachi Fields, WR, Notre Dame

There’s an excellent chance that Notre Dame wide receiver Malachi Fields is the first wideout drafted from this Senior Bowl class. The big-bodied wideout is well versed at making plays at all three levels of the field. Fields possesses a stout frame and understands how to out-muscle and out-position defenders at the catch point.

Good bet he is the top WR drafted from this year's Senior Bowl. pic.twitter.com/c4VoAU7e6w

— Dane Brugler (@dpbrugler) January 29, 2026

Dametrious Crownover, OT, Texas A&M

The Titans could draft an offensive tackle as Dan Moore Jr’s eventual successor. Texas A&M’s Dametrious Crownover was physical and aggressive during one-on-one reps. Crownover possesses a massive frame and he plays with effort through the whistle.

Gabe Jacas, EDGE, Illinois

Illinois EDGE Gabe Jacas possesses a pro-ready frame. Jacas set hard edges in Mobile as a run defender and also flashed in the pass-rushing portions. He should continue gaining momentum as a Day Two prospect.

Matt Miller two round 2026 NFL mock draft

imagn-28042431.jpg

Matt Miller of ESPN has put out a new 2026 NFL mock draft this morning. He did a two-round mock. For some reason, mock drafters are determined to give the Tennessee Titans an offensive tackle early in this draft. On one hand, I get it. The offensive line has been a mess for a long time, and Dan Moore is not exactly the second coming of Michael Roos, but on the other hand, Moore finished the season playing pretty well.

The Titans have so many needs and have spent so much on the offensive line, both in the draft and free agency the last few year, that it is hard to believe they address it in the first two days of this draft.

With the fourth overall pick, Miller gave the Titans Rueben Bain Jr., EDGE, Miami. Bain proved all season long, but especially in the College Football Playoff, that he is an excellent player. The question with him is whether or not he has the length to be a productive edge rusher in the NFL. I wouldn’t hate the pick, but I would much rather see them give Cam Ward a playmaking receiver with the fourth pick.

In the second round, Miller have them Kadyn Proctor, OT, Alabama. Proctor has all of the tools to be a really good player. He never really put it together to be dominant at Bama, but that won’t stop a team from taking him early in the draft. I just don’t think it will be the Titans with this pick.

Here is what Miller had to say about Bain:

The Titans could go several directions: build up a supporting cast around second-year QB Cam Ward, address the offensive line or add to a defense that lacks threats outside of All-Pro DT Jeffery Simmons. Defense is the smartest bet in this draft. After finishing in the middle of the pack with 42 sacks this season, the Titans hired defensive-minded Robert Saleh as coach and will likely use a base 4-3 defense where three-down defensive ends are needed.

Bain has the power at 6-foot-3, 275 pounds to stay on the field regardless of down or distance. With 9.5 sacks and an incredible 71 pressures last season, Bain showed the necessary determination to complement his athletic traits and be great on the edge. His shorter arm length might worry some teams, but Bain’s motor and speed-to-power skills make him worthy of being one of the top picks in this draft.

Here were his comments on Proctor:

The Titans have one supersized offensive tackle from Alabama in JC Latham, so let’s give them another. Proctor’s tape at the end of the season was much better than at the beginning, and he has immense potential as a starting left tackle.

Titans hire Gus Bradley as defensive coordinator

imagn-16590648.jpg

The Tennessee Titans are going to have one of the most experienced coaching staffs in the NFL next year. Adam Schefter is reporting today that they have hired Gus Bradley as their defensive coordinator. Bradley spent last season as the assistant head coach for the San Francisco 49ers. He has been a defensive coordinator at four stops before that. He was also the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2013 to 2016.

When the Titans hired Brian Callahan, the only coach on the staff who had been a head coach before was his daddy. Now, they have offensive and defensive coordinators who have been head coaches. Their special teams coordinator, John Fassel, even spent time as an interim head coach. Robert Saleh is surrounding himself with a lot of experienced coaches.

The Titans have spent the last year compiling a lot of experience in their building. It started last year in the front office, where Mike Borgonzi added multiple guys who had been general managers before. Now, they are doing the same thing with the coaching staff. It’s a good move for a young team that is trying to build a winning culture.

Now, let’s see it pay off on Sundays!

Question of the day: What is the first thing the Titans should do this offseason?

imagn-27895026.jpg

In an effort to build the community here and get some discussion started, I will be posting a question of the day every day. Some days it will be something Tennessee Titans specific. Other days, it will have nothing to do with the Titans. Hopefully, it will be something you look forward to every day and bring some good discussion to the site. If you have an idea for a question you would like to see posed, post it in the feed on the right-hand side of the main page, or send it to me on Twitter, @jmorrisMCM.

Today’s question: If you were Mike Borgonzi, what is the first thing you would do this offseason?

For me, the number one priority has to be maximizing Cam Ward. I’d overpay for Alec Pierce in free agency to get him here. The Titans desperately need speed on the outside. I’d also spend the fourth pick on Carnell Tate. I understand the need for an EDGE rusher, but we made a huge investment in Ward as the number one overall pick last year.

Now, it’s your turn. What’s your first priority for this team this offseason?

Titans Reacts Survey: Grade the Brian Daboll hire

imagn-27287295.jpg

In my opinion, Robert Saleh and the Tennessee Titans hit a home run when they signed former New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll as their offensive coordinator. He’s a guy with a proven track record of developing quarterbacks. That is exactly what they needed for Cam Ward’s development. I can’t wait to see what the offense looks like in 2026.

Now, it’s your turn. Grade the Daboll hire.

We also have the question this week: Who will win the Super Bowl? Will Mike Vrabel get his first Super Bowl title as a head coach, or will the Sam Darnold redemption story come full circle with him getting Mike MacDonald his first Super Bowl title?

Question of the day: How important in re-signing Chig Okonkwo?

imagn-27900870.jpg

Tennessee Titans tight end Chig Okonkwo (85) runs in a touchdown against the New Orleans Saints during the second quarter at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tenn., Sunday, Dec. 28, 2025. | Andrew Nelles / The Tennessean / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images

One of the first orders of business for the Tennessee Titans this offseason will be evaluating the players on their roster who are set to become free agents. You can see the full list of Titans who are set to hit free agency here. There isn’t a lot of meat on the bone there.

The most interesting one is Chig Okonkwo. We had really high hopes for Okonkwo when he was drafted in the fourth round back in 2022. He seemed like the perfect guy to fill in for Jonnu Smith, who had left the team in free agency after the 2020 season. Okonkwo never became the blocker that Smith was, but he showed plenty of explosive play potential.

I always thought that the Titans didn’t use Chig enough. He has been one of the few guys on offense who could actually make an explosive play on offense the last few years. He has averaged just 68 targets per season in his 4 years with the team. With the players they have had around him for the last few years, it seems like that number should be closer to 80.

We don’t know what they are going to do in free agency and the draft, but it seems to me that they cannot afford to let a player who has big play potential get away. I’d offer him a 4-year contract in the $35-40 million range before he hits the market.

Do you think it is important to bring Chig back, and what contract would you be comfortable with them offering him to keep him from hitting the market?

Potential candidates for Tennessee Titans’ vacant defensive staff openings

SEATTLE, WASHINGTON - OCTOBER 10: Defensive Quality Control coach KJ Wright looks on prior to a game against the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field on October 10, 2024 in Seattle, Washington. (Photo by Steph Chambers/Getty Images) | Getty Images

The Tennessee Titans officially announced that they’ve hired Gus Bradley to be their defensive coordinator. With that, all three coordinator spots are in place. Brian Daboll was previously hired to oversee the offense, and John “Bones” Fassel was retained on special teams.

The offensive coaching staff has also been filled out with a combination of retention, Daboll connections, and Mike Borgonzi connections. Luke Stocker (TEs) and Randy Jordan (RB) were retained from Brian Callahan’s staff. Greg Lewis is the new wide receivers coach, Shea Tierney will coach quarterbacks, and Carmen Bricillo is replacing Bill Callahan as the offensive line coach.

The defensive staff is still coming together. With Bradley at DC, Aaron Whitecotton was hired as defensive line coach/run game coordinator. Tony Oden is being retained as cornerbacks coach and pass game coordinator. Marquand Manuel is the latest addition, as safeties coach.

There are two prominent positions still to be filled on Saleh’s defensive staff. No announcements have been made at linebackers coach or nickel coach. Paul Kuharsky was first to report Saleh will be hiring a position coach for the nickel cornerback spot.

The indication is that Frank Bush wasn’t retained as linebackers coach. That’s somewhat unfortunate, because Bush did a great job with Cedric Gray and James Williams last season. One potential candidate is former NFL player K.J. Wright, who played for Saleh in Seattle, where they won Super Bowl XLVIII together. Wright, a Memphis, Tennessee native, joined the 49ers’ coaching staff in 2024 as a defensive quality control coach, meaning he coached under Saleh in 2025.

Saleh also interviewed Falcons coach Mike Rutenberg for the defensive coordinator role that has since gone to Bradley. Rutenberg was Saleh’s linebackers coach throughout his coaching tenure with the New York Jets. Would the Falcons allow him to make a lateral move? Probably not, but perhaps that explains the delay.

It’s a bit more difficult to predict who the nickel coach might be. Cameron Brown and Jake Lynch were defensive quality control coaches for Saleh’s 49ers last season. Former NFL cornerback Ricky Manning was an assistant for Saleh’s Jets and last coached Raiders cornerbacks in 2024.

3 free agent WRs the Titans possess ties to

(Photo by Cooper Neill/Getty Images) | Getty Images

The Tennessee Titans must improve their roster this offseason. One of the biggest areas of need is at wide receiver. General manager Mike Borgonzi has an obvious requirement to improve the team around franchise quarterback Cam Ward.

The Titans will be roughly equipped with a league-leading $104 million in cap space, according to OverTheCap. That’s before Borgonzi creates additional space by potentially releasing expected casualties like Calvin Ridley, Tony Pollard, and L’Jarius Sneed.

The Titans will have the cap space required to pursue wide receivers in NFL free agency. We’re just approximately six weeks away from those negotiations. We’ve identified three pending free-agent receivers the Titans have ties to.

Jauan Jennings

New head coach Robert Saleh will obviously be familiar with Jauan Jennings, who played locally at the University of Tennessee for the Volunteers. Saleh was the San Francisco 49ers’ DC in 2020 when Jennings was drafted, and they reunited this past season in 2025. His try-hard attitude and effort on the boundary would benefit the Titans at wide receiver.

Wan’Dale Robinson

Wan’Dale Robinson became a potential Titans target in free agency the moment Brian Daboll was hired as Saleh’s offensive coordinator. Daboll coached Robinson throughout his entire four-year rookie contract, leading up to his midseason 2025 firing. The former Kentucky wideout is an athletic high-volume target, registering 90-plus receptions in back-to-back seasons. He’d serve as a safety net for Ward in the short to intermediate areas.

Romeo Doubs

The connection to Romeo Doubs is far looser and doesn’t occur at the coaching staff level. Titans president of football operations Chad Brinker served in the Green Bay Packers’ personnel department when Doubs was drafted in the fourth round. Since then, he’s outperformed his rookie contract, compiling 202 catches for 2,424 yards and 21 touchdowns. He could be the Titans’ most realistic target in free agency.

Could Gus Bradley be the Titans’ next defensive coordinator?

Tennessee Titans head coach Robert Saleh has not named a defensive coordinator yet. It’s essentially a caretaking position. Saleh plans to call defensive plays in Tennessee. He’s looking for his version of Nick Holz on defense.

Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer offered some potential insight into the process over the weekend. Saleh’s old team, the San Francisco 49ers, hired Raheem Morris to succeed him as DC. By doing so, they passed on promoting Gus Bradley, who was a natural candidate to succeed Saleh as Kyle Shanahan’s assistant head coach.

Breer now claims Bradley is a candidate to become the Titans’ defensive coordinator. He’s also being linked to the same vacancy with the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals may possess the upper hand given that their role is a play-calling one under new offensive-minded head coach Mike LaFleur.

Some moving parts —With Raheem Morris in as 49ers DC, market is moving on Gus Bradley. Either the Titans or Cardinals could hire him as DC, with Arizona having the edge of making him play-caller. If Tennessee misses on Bradley, Atlanta's Mike Rutenberg is a name to watch.

— Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) February 1, 2026

Bradley and Saleh have a far closer relationship than what Arizona/LaFleur can offer, despite the play-calling advantage. Saleh was an entry-level assistant coach with the Seattle Seahawks when Bradley was coordinating the early Legion of Boom defense.

Bradley then became the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars. He eventually hired Saleh as his linebackers coach. They spent three seasons together in Duval, up until Bradley’s firing. They then reunited in San Francisco this past season.

Saleh probably prefers to hire Bradley, given his experience. Breer claims the alternative candidate is Mike Rutenberg. Rutenberg already interviewed for the Titans’ DC gig. He’s also worked with Saleh on three different occasions. This past campaign, he worked under Jeff Ulbrich in Atlanta, Saleh’s old DC with the New York Jets.

Bradley’s situation with the 49ers possibly caused a delay in Saleh’s process. Now that Shanahan has hired Morris as DC, Saleh is possibly waiting for Bradley to decide between Tennessee and Arizona. The Titans appear down to two defensive coordinator candidates.

Question of the day: Should the Titans keep Calvin Ridley?

One of the first decisions the Tennessee Titans are going to have to make about their current roster is whether or not to cut Calvin Ridley. He has a cap number of just over $26 million for 2026. It is currently the biggest number on their roster. Cutting him would save them around $13 million.

This is an interesting decision for Mike Borgonzi. On one hand, it doesn’t make sense to keep him for that number. Ridley is coming off a major injury. His production when he has been on the field has been pretty good, but not enough to justify the money they owe him for 2026.

On the other hand, their receiver room is pretty bare, and Ridley does have the upside to be a number one receiver. They aren’t going to find a receiver on the market with Ridley’s upside for a cheaper number. He also has familiarity with Brian Daboll from their time together at the University of Alabama.

There is also the fact that the Titans are going to have over $100 million in cap space. They aren’t going to need the savings.

For the purposes of this exercise, let’s assume that Ridley is unwilling to take a pay cut. Would you bring Ridley back at that number, or would you cut him?

5-round Titans 2026 NFL mock draft: Addressing offense and defense

The Tennessee Titans suffered through a disappointing season in 2025, finishing 3-14 for a second consecutive campaign. Mike Borgonzi oversaw a head coaching search that led the Titans to Robert Saleh. Now’s the time for Tennessee to rebuild a contender.

The Titans own eight total selections in the 2026 NFL Draft, including three top-100 picks (plus No. 101). Improving the defense and the roster around Cam Ward is the offseason goal. We’ve conducted a Titans five-round mock draft using The Draft Network’s Mock Draft Machine.

Round 1 (No. 4 overall): Rueben Bain Jr, DE, Miami

Rueben Bain Jr. is a relentless pass rusher with strength and build-up speed. Analysts will debate his length-related shortcomings and positional value, with some projecting him to play defensive tackle. Bain was excellent throughout the College Football Playoff and the Titans shouldn’t overthink it if he’s available.

Round 2 (No. 35 overall): Malachi Fields, WR, Notre Dame

Notre Dame’s Malachi Fields was arguably the most productive wide receiver in attendance at this year’s Senior Bowl. Fields has prototype X-receiver size with the ability to box-out defenders at the catch point. The Titans could utilize a wideout with his skill set.

Round 3 (No. 66 overall): Daylen Everette, CB, Georgia

The Titans need to acquire multiple cornerbacks this offseason. The bulk of those acquisitions should occur in free agency, because Saleh needs proven assets at the position. They’ll draft at least one too, and Georgia’s Daylen Everette is an athletic corner with good size and length to defend the boundary.

Round 4 (No. 101 overall): Chase Bisontis, IOL, Texas A&M

Kevin Zeitler and Corey Levin are free agents, Jackson Slater is an unknown commodity, and Lloyd Cushenberry hasn’t met expectations. There will be some changes to Tennessee’s interior offensive line group. Chase Bisontis is an easy mover at guard with starting-caliber upside.

Round 5 (No. 140 overall): Mike Washington Jr, RB, Arkansas

The Titans might make Tony Pollard a cap casualty. If so, they’ll probably sign a veteran running back in free agency, but a draft pick could create additional competition. Arkansas’ Mike Washington Jr. runs with good vision and instincts. Washington was a Senior Bowl standout.

Round 5 (No. 142): Dametrious Crownover, OL, Texas A&M

Throwing a late-round dart at Dan Moore’s potential replacement would be a good strategy. Moore probably won’t play out the entire term of his overpriced four-year contract. Dametrious Crownover’s massive frame is capable of engulfing pass rushers.

Super Bowl predictions 2026: Fans pick Seahawks vs. Patriots winner

Well, in case you didn’t know, Mike Vrabel used to be the coach of the Tennessee Titans. Amy Adams Strunk fired him, and now, in his first year with the New England Patriots, he has taken his team to the Super Bowl. It appears that 79% of us will be rooting against him.

Are you one of the 79% that will be rooting for the Seattle Seahawks? Let us know in the comments.

This week, we also asked you to grade the Titans’ hiring of Brian Daboll as the offensive coordinator.

Tennessee_2_020426.png

Who are the 2% that gave the hire an F? New York Giants fans? Trolls?

74% of us will be proven to be on the right side of history here. Daboll is a home run hire. It’s really tough for me to see how anyone doesn’t see it that way. I can’t wait to see it all come together.

Todd McShay 2026 NFL mock draft 2.0

Now that the Super Bowl is over, you will start seeing a lot more 2026 NFL mock drafts. Todd McShay has put out his second mock draft of the season. He has the Tennessee Titans taking David Bailey, EDGE, Texas Tech, in this version. There is no doubt that EDGE is at the top of their needs list.

In this mock, McShay doesn’t have a receiver going off the board until the ninth pick when the Kansas City Chiefs take Carnell Tate. It’s tough that the Titans have such a high pick in a season where there isn’t a better class at wide receiver because they desperately need help there. If they do go EDGE with the first pick, they will have to address receiver at the top of the second round.

The issue with that, if the 2026 NFL Draft plays out like McShay’s mock, is that six receivers were picked in the first round. That means the Titans would be getting, at best, the seventh receiver in this class. That’s #notgreat. It would be good if the Titans could trade down a little in the first round, add a pick, and get a receiver, but as of right now, it’s tough to see a trade partner for the Titans who wants to get to #4.

Here is what McShay had to say about the Bailey pick:

The Titans used a second-round pick on Oluwafemi Oladejo last year, but they need more firepower beyond him, Jaylen Harrell, and Arden Key. Enter Bailey, who’s the most dynamic pass rusher in the class. Look at the draft blueprints for top-shelf organizations like the Chiefs, Bills, and Eagles, among others. The year after they landed their guy at QB, they shifted the focus to the defensive side of the ball. Giving Robert Saleh and Gus Bradley an edge rusher like Bailey would be a smart play. Utah offensive tackle Spencer Fano is a possibility here, but he’s not as highly graded as Bailey, and while getting help for Cam Ward at wide receiver should be a priority, the Titans can wait until day two (but not day three) to target that need.

Titans free agents 2026: Chig Okonkwo, Arden Key headline list

The NFL offseason is here. Unfortunately, as Tennessee Titans fans, we have been waiting for this since about week three of the 2025 NFL season. That’s really been the case for us the last two years. The Titans need a really strong offseason to change that for us in 2026.

It starts with NFL free agency. The Titans are going to have somewhere around $100 million to spend this year. They won’t spend all of it in free agency, but they are going to be able to add some pieces to make the roster a lot better than it was last year. They can use help at just about every spot on the field.

The first step in the process is identifying guys they want to retain who are about to hit the market. There is a long list of guys who are going to hit the market.

Titans pending free agents 2026

  • EDGE Arden Key
  • TE Chig Okonkwo
  • G Kevin Zeitler
  • DL Sebastian Joseph-Day
  • WR Van Jefferson
  • P Johnny Hekker
  • QB Brandon Allen
  • LS Morgan Cox
  • EDGE Jihad Ward
  • T Blake Hance
  • K Joey Slye
  • C Corey Levin
  • DL James Lynch
  • WR James Proche
  • T Oli Udoh
  • LB Joe Bachie
  • CB Jalyn Armour-Davis
  • RB Julius Chestnut
  • CB Kemon Hall
  • CB Kaiir Elam
  • CB Darrell Baker Jr.
  • S Mike Brown
  • WR Bryce Oliver
  • LB Anfernee Orji
  • EDGE C.J. Ravenell
  • G Garrett Dellinger

Chig Okonkwo is the one guy from that list whom I will be upset if they don’t end up re-signing. They cannot afford to let an offensive playmaker walk when they have so few of them.

Morgan Cox seems to be perennially on a one-year deal here since 2021. He’s one of the best long snappers in the league. They will probably try to bring him back again.

Jihad Ward is another guy I’d like to see back. He showed some flashes last season, and with their lack of depth in the EDGE group, he’s a valuable guy to have.

Which three from this list are the most important for the Titans to try to retain before they hit the market?
