NFL commissioner Roger Goodell calls Nashville a Super Bowl-ready city

imagn-27039004.jpg

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell was in Nashville today for the Tennessee Titans’ Steel Topping Out Ceremony. My understanding is that means they installed the final steel beam to hold the roof at the top of the new Nissan Stadium. The new stadium is set to open for the 2027 NFL season.

Goodell was asked if Nashville is ready to host a Super Bowl in the future, and he called Nashville a Super Bowl-ready city. There has been a lot of speculation that Nashville would get to host a Super Bowl in the new venue. This doesn’t confirm that we will get one here, but it seems pretty certain at this point. The next three Super Bowl sites have already been scheduled with San Francisco (Santa Clara), Los Angeles (Inglewood), and Atlanta hosting the next three. That means the earliest a Super Bowl would be in Nashville would be February of 2029.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network is excited about the possibility of a Super Bowl being in Nashville:

"This is a Super Bowl-ready city." … Yes, please. https://t.co/tGtcf9L25F

Amy Adams Strunk made a rare public appearance at the event today. There was media in attendance, but she didn’t take any questions:

Titans coaching search profiles: Rams defensive coordinator Chris Shula

imagn-23406991.jpg

Chris Shula is the current defensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams and is considered one of the hottest head coaching candidates in the NFL right now. Obviously, the Titans would prefer an experienced candidate on the lines of Mike McCarthy, Robert Saleh, or even Brian Flores (all people who we will cover eventually). Still, though, this is going to be a candidate that is seriously looked into during the search. Although the Titans will probably end up choosing experience, they will 100% still look into a first timer that, if impressive enough, might get the job. So now there are many questions to ask, questions about how Shula got here, his positive aspects, his “negative” aspects, and how likely he is to get the job. So, with all that being said, let’s get into the head coaching profile of Chris Shula.

Chris Shula’s start

Before getting into the positives and negatives, it is necessary to look at how we got here and why Chris Shula is such a hot head coaching candidate. Well, it all started at Ball State, where he was brought on as an assistant linebackers coach. After a year there, he was brought on as a grad assistant at Indiana, where he would stay for 3 years, and then was brought on as a defensive coordinator for John Carroll, where (after doing the math) his defense only allowed 13 points per game. This caught the attention of the San Diego Chargers, and at the time, head coach Mike McCoy, quite ironic, isn’t it? Anyway, he was hired as a defensive quality control coach and stayed there for the remainder of McCoy’s tenure, and after McCoy was fired, he was brought on to Sean McVay’s staff, where he continued to climb the ladder and eventually became the defensive coordinator. In his tenure as defensive coordinator, he has led the 9th best defense in the NFL both years as coordinator for this unit, according to Statmuse, and that’s why he is considered one of the best head coaching candidates for 2025.

Positives of Chris Shula

The positives of Chris Shula are some of the best positives among all head coaching candidates in the NFL. First off, he has experience running his side of the ball with Sean McVay being busy with the offense, which is something we could never say about Callahan, who was the vice captain under Zac Taylor (who isn’t that great either). He has run a great defense as well with a very young roster. Has a very young D-line, and four undrafted free agents, and has still had a top ten defense, which has been great against some of the best offenses in the NFL. Also, he has consistently climbed the ladder in Los Angeles, a place flowing with great coordinators. That shows a lot about a coach when he is able to stay in one place and climb as consistently as he has. Coach McVay had this to say about his defensive coordinator,

“One of my favorite things about Chris is that he is mentally tough,” stated McVay.

“He’s been brought up in a football family where he knows not to ride the wave. There are ebbs and flows that go on throughout the course of a season, but I think he understood that his players, his coaches, he knew that I did, had his back. What I like is he was solution-oriented. It was a humbling start for us. But you can either do one of two things, you can either feel bad for yourself or you can say, ‘I’m going to swing. I’m going to fight and I’m going to figure out what’s the next best thing to try to do right by these players and by these coaches.’ That’s exactly what he’s built on.”

So, as you can see, Sean McVay had a lot of high praise for his defensive coordinator and his journey. Probably my favorite positive, though, is the way he runs his defense, where, instead of matching personnel, he matches up against tendencies. This had led to him being considered more of an innovator in defense, and also fared very well for him when matching up against fellow head coaching candidate and offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks, Klint Kubiak. There are a lot of positives when it comes to Shula, but what about his negatives?

Negatives of Chris Shula

Now, I’ll say this from the jump, there are a few negatives with Chris Shula. He may have the least negative qualities of all the head coaching candidates, especially new ones. There are still negatives, though, starting out with something that isn’t completely his fault, and that’s the inconsistency of McVay assistants post LA. Now, O’Connell and LaFleur have been pretty great, no doubt, and even Liam Cohen has started to get back up, but we can’t forget about the other two who have not been great, Zac Taylor and Raheem Morris (a defensive mind!) Again, this isn’t on Shula, but I do think there is something to be said when it comes to how weird the tree has been. Probably the biggest thing is his defensive background, not that being a defensive mind is a bad thing, it’s just there’s a big need for for Cam Ward to have consistently good offensive minds in the building, now, obviously the Rams tree is full of solid minds, but it would be a big risk to go for a new offensive coordinator to give all the pressure to develop Cam Ward. This is where a Robert Saleh is stronger, a dude who has connections to formerly great offensive coordinators who can develop Cam Ward into something solid. The last thing I’ll bring up is the thing that pops out the most when discussing Chris, and that’s his last name. Look, do I think Chris Shula is a nepo baby schematic nerd with no leadership skills? No. Is it something the front office will have in the back of their heads when interviewing him? Yes. Look, with the Titans coming off the Brian Callahan era, it’s very hard for the front office not to look at that last name and be a little worried. Even though he has his negatives, Chris Shula doesn’t have the most red flags as a candidate when it comes to people being talked about.

How Likely Is Shula to get hired?

Overall, it is very hard for me to see a world where Chris Shula ends up the Tennessee Titans’ next coach. It’s a shame, too, because he is one of, if not my favorite, head coaching candidates when it comes to the search. Why do I believe this? Well, it comes down to two differences between him and the Titans wants, those being experience, and his last name. The Shula name is going to hang over these guys as long as the Titans are still interviewing him, and if he were to be hired and fail, every person would cry about how the Titans hiring a nepo baby who never deserved to be there. Adding on top of that, his experience is very little as the leader of a unit is very small, let alone an entire football team. Now, again, I would personally love to see the post come across my phone that says the Titans are finalizing a deal to make Shula the next head coach, but I just don’t see it. I do really hope that he gets serious consideration when it comes to the job,

Xavier Restrepo will be active for Titans tomorrow

imagn-21925505.jpg

Those of you who have been dying to see Xavier Resterpo on the field for the Tennessee Titans are going to get your wish tomorrow. Paul Kuharsky tweeted earlier that Restrepo will be active tomorrow in the game against the Seattle Seahawks. Restrepo was very productive at Miami with Cam Ward throwing him the ball, but I wouldn’t count on that same level of production at the NFL level.

There is no doubt that Ward and Restrepo have chemistry. Last season, Restrepo had 69 catches for 1,127 yards and 11 touchdowns. He led the ACC in both yards and touchdowns, but he went undrafted in last April’s draft. The Titans signed him as an undrafted free agent. He hasn’t been able to crack the active roster until now, and any NFL team could have signed him to their active roster to this point.

I hope he goes out there and has 100 yards and two touchdowns tomorrow, but that probably isn’t going to happen. My guess is that he plays 10-15 snaps and probably gets a couple of targets. I’m predicting two catches for 15 yards. What’s your projection for Restrepo?

Titans vs. Seahawks discussion: React to today’s game

imagn-27606218.jpg

Cam Ward has had the toughest schedule of defenses for any number one overall pick in recent history. It doesn’t get any easier today, facing a Seattle Seahawks’ defense that ranks in the top 10 in total yards allowed, rushing yards allowed, and points per game allowed. The Tennessee Titans are also missing two of their best receivers with Calvin Ridley out for the year, and Elic Ayomanor missing this game with a hamstring injury. Good luck, rook.

The Titans also face a tough test to try to stop Jaxson Smith-Njigba. JSN leads the NFL by more than 200 yards with 1,146 yards receiving. That’s a tough assignment for a cornerback group that is without the three corners that started for them at the beginning of the year. They’d better find a way to get pressure on Sam Darnold in this one.

It’s easy to see why the Titans are almost a two-touchdown underdog here.

Use this thread to discuss the game.

5 observations from the Titans’ Week 12 loss to the Seahawks

gettyimages-2248100390.jpg

The Tennessee Titans were defeated 30-24 by the Seattle Seahawks in Sunday’s Week 12 game at Nissan Stadium. The 1-10 Titans own the worst record in the NFL and still possess the inside track on the No. 1 overall selection in the 2026 NFL Draft. We’ve conjured up five observations following what was actually an entertaining defeat.

Cam Ward is developing in real time

Cam Ward was outstanding on the opening possession, a 16-play scoring drive. He ran for 18 yards via two scrambles. A beautiful pass to Chimere Dike was dropped, but that did not discourage the rookie quarterback. A couple of Ward’s highlight plays were a 4th-and-2 conversion to Gunnar Helm, later avoiding a sack to complete an off-script pass to Chig Okonkwo.

Ward was stellar all afternoon. The Titans’ typical sloppiness eventually made life difficult on him, but he was resillient. Back-to-back penalties on the second drive made it 1st-and-25. The third possession started inside the 15 after one of the aforementioned special teams penalties. Dan Moore Jr. and Lloyd Cushenberry left hurt, and almost every other offensive lineman was whistled for a penalty (Latham, Udoh, Skoronski).

Ward ultimately finished 28-of-42 for 256 yards, a touchdown pass, 37 rushing yards and an additional touchdown, showing real progress.

Special teams

The Titans are usually pretty good on special teams, but John “Bones” Fassel’s unit made a trio of errors throughout the first half. Dike mishandled a kickoff that went out of bounds at the three-yard line. The following Titans’ possession began with a hold on Dike’s return. They also allowed a 20-yard punt return to Rashid Shaheed that started a Seahawks possession at the 26.

Of course, Dike made up for his first-half error during the second part with this historic 90-yard punt return for a TD. Dike deserves to be All-Pro while qualifying for the Pro Bowl as a returner.

Chimere Dike is the best returner in the NFL and I'm not sure it's particularly close.

What a pick by #Titans GM Mike Borgonzi. Was probably the Titans' least popular pick (with the fanbase) during the draft. What a gem. pic.twitter.com/tHrRm61hbK

— Justin M (@JustinM_NFL) November 23, 2025

Rookie progress

The Titans committed to playing young defenders on defense. Marcus Harris and Kevin Winston Jr. both continue to take advantage of their opportunities. Winston made a couple of quality tackles and had good reps in coverage, and shouldn’t be blamed for the silly defensive strategy that aligned him 1-v-1 with Jaxon Smith-Njigba on the opening play of the third quarter. Harris nearly intercepted a Sam Darnold ball that went incomplete to Kenneth Walker III. The Titans may have two future solutions there.

Xavier Restrepo

Titans fans were excited about Xavier Restrepo making his debut. Restrepo earned more snaps during the fourth quarter, and connected with Ward on an incredible off-script play. A follow-up catch was called back for a hold. He was previously targeted in the end zone, but failed to make a difficult contested catch. James Proche, who made an excellent chain-moving catch across the middle on 3rd-and-9, initially played ahead of him as the WR3 next to Dike and Van Jefferson. Mason Kinsey was also involved briefly during the first half.

Cam Ward is helpless

The Titans are a mess around Ward. Players fail to convert makeable catches (Dike and Helm had one apiece), Mike McCoy and Bo Hardegree are committed to Tony Pollard and Julius Chestnut in the run game despite their ineffectiveness. Penalties and missed assignments up front also continue to be a massive issue.

Breaking down Marcus Harris and Kevin Winston Jr. in Week 12

imagn-27663314.jpg

The Tennessee Titans were defeated 30-24 in an exciting showing by the Seattle Seahawks in Sunday’s Week 12 game. Rookie quarterback Cam Ward stole the show, but he wasn’t the only Titans rookie to continue trending in the right direction. Safety Kevin Winston Jr. and cornerback Marcus Harris also continued to impress on defense.

Harris became the team’s starting nickel cornerback following the Roger McCreary trade. The sixth-round pick out of Cal has routinely impressed. Harris played 30 total snaps against the Seahawks and Pro Football Focus assigned him an elite defensive grade of 89.0 for his performance.

Harris was targeted three times in coverage. Sam Darnold didn’t complete any of those throws. Darnold’s passer rating was 39.6 when targeting Harris. The rookie cornerback almost intercepted a pass intended for running back Kenneth Walker III. It would have been a potential pick-six. He also logged a quarterback pressure on a blitz.

Meanwhile Winston earned 48 snaps on defense as the primary safety opposite Amani Hooker. Winston led the Titans defense in tackles with 10, including one for loss. PFF didn’t credit him with a single missed tackle either.

Outstanding first game as a starter for #Titans rookie S Kevin Winston Jr.

Extremely impressive as a run defender, and clearly continued to get his feet back under him in coverage as the game went on. If this is the level of play in his first NFL game playing starting-caliber… pic.twitter.com/oz0hr1nkq8

— Drew Beatty (@IronCityFilm) November 19, 2025

Winston was targeted three times in coverage, giving up all three receptions for 66 yards. Context matters. The majority of those yards occurred via a 56-yard completion to superstar receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba. No safety should ever be the primary coverage defender on a receiver who is currently leading the league in receiving, but the Titans made the mistake of getting Winston aligned opposite Smith-Njigba on that play.

Winston is looking like a long-term solution at safety for the Titans. The former Penn State standout has been all over the field in recent weeks. The Titans need to revamp their cornerback room this offseason, but Harris also looks like a useful member of the secondary moving forward.

Mike Borgonzi’s first NFL Draft class continues to impress. Winston and Harris are solutions on a rebuilding roster.

2026 NFL Draft order: Titans still hold the first pick

gettyimages-2212395736.jpg

The Tennessee Titans had one of their best weeks in recent memory. Cam Ward looked great against a really good defense. The game was fun to watch, but they ultimately lost 30-24 to the Seattle Seahawks. The loss dropped them to 1-10 and allowed them to remain in the top spot in the 2026 NFL Draft order. They will have a chance to get a player that can really help them anywhere in the top 5, but they need to hang on to the top spot to maximize their value in a trade.

What didn’t go well for the Titans in week 11 was the results from the rest of the team at the top of the draft. There are still four teams with just two wins. If the Titans end up in that mix, they will fall to the back of the line because of their strength of schedule. In other words, had they won the game against the Seahawks, they would currently hold the fifth pick in the draft. Again, they would still get a really good player, but it would be hard to net a huge return trading out of that spot.

We know trade value is really all about someone desperately needing/wanting a quarterback in the draft. There isn’t a surefire quarterback in this draft, but there will be a guy who emerges throughout the process that a team falls in love with. With Ward looking better and better with each passing week, the Titans will find themselves in the best position possible if they do end up with the number one pick.

Where is your confidence in the Titans heading into week 13?

gettyimages-2248120947.jpg

For the first time in a while, I actually have some confidence that the Tennessee Titans are heading in the right direction. Cam Ward continues to make progress each week. In addition to that, the rest of the Titans’ rookie class looks really solid. Chimere Dike is the best return man in football and a playmaker in the receiving game. Gunnar Helm just had his best game of the season with six catches for 51 yards. Elic Ayomanor missed last week’s game with a hamstring injury, but has proven that he can be a contributor. Marcus Harris graded out really well against the Seahawks as well.

It is going to take another really good offseason for this team to be close to competing, but Mike Borgonzi’s first offseason is looking like a pretty big success.

I’m not sure I’m confident that they are headed in the right direction yet, but this is the first week all season that I would understand why someone would vote yes here.

Titans news: Mike McCoy has been good for Cam Ward

gettyimages-2248116444.jpg

Before I get started, please don’t read this as any type of endorsement for Mike McCoy to be hired as the next head coach of the Tennessee Titans. There have already been times when I wanted him to be fired as the interim coach, but with that being said, Cam Ward has shown significant improvement since McCoy took over.

Cam Ward BEFORE Callahan was fired

Cam Ward AFTER Callahan was fired

Believe it or not, I can acknowledge positivity pic.twitter.com/PdQ3rjsYsM

— Scott Connor (@CharlesChillFFB) November 25, 2025
  • The thing that we don’t really know is how much of that is Ward figuring it out, and how much of it is anything McCoy is doing differently than Brian Callahan. Either way, in a season that was always about developing Ward, this is a very good thing.
  • Along those same lines, the offense overall has been better with McCoy, but the run game has been nothing short of a disaster
Never say I am not a man of the people!

Here's how the #Titans offense has looked through the three HC/OC combos

1: Titans Offense as a whole
2: Cam Ward's performance
3: Play Calling tendencies & efficiency (new)

It's not great, but it is better…except the run game. That's… https://t.co/qIQcqsCB58 pic.twitter.com/bPkkIX6uQJ

— Zach Lyons (@TheZachLyons) November 25, 2025
  • Drew Beatty of PaulKuharsky.com called the game on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks Ward’s best game yet. We know Ward has an incredible ability to make plays off schedule, but he is getting better at making plays within the structure of the offense each week. That is ultimately what it will take for him to be a franchise quarterback.
  • Former Titans GM Ran Carthon said yesterday that he wanted to trade back into the first round to draft Jahmyr Gibbs:
Wow: Former Titans GM Ran Carthon said he wanted to trade back into the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft to select Jahmyr Gibbs to pair him with Derrick Henry.

“You talk about a 1-2 punch of Jahmyr Gibbs and Derrick Henry, at the time, that would have been, that would have been… pic.twitter.com/E2lh3gu2lw

— Dov Kleiman (@NFL_DovKleiman) November 25, 2025
  • That’s great and all, but the Titans had the 11th pick and took Peter Skoronski. If he wanted Gibbs so badly, why didn’t he just take him at 11? It would have cost an insane amount for Carthon to get back to 12.

The timeline is arguing about JC Latham again

gettyimages-2247812153.jpg

The Tennessee Titans played an exciting game in Sunday’s 30-24 Week 12 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Rookie quarterback Cam Ward reinvigorated the fanbase by looking like a franchise signal-caller. While there’s a ton of positives to take away from Sunday’s showing, there’s been some discourse over JC Latham’s performance.

Latham was a talking point throughout last weekend’s defeat to the Houston Texans. The former Alabama standout was whistled for four penalties in that three-point loss, three false starts and one holding penalty. It was imperative for Latham to put forth a better showing against the Seahawks.

Pro Football Focus credited Latham with allowing five pressures against a ferocious Seahawks defensive line. That tied for his season-high amount, having previously allowed five pressures (and three sacks) in Week 6 against the Las Vegas Raiders, his first game back from injury. Latham allowed just one sack against Seattle, and was also penalized for an illegal formation penalty.

Drew Beatty of PaulKuharsky.Com put together a compilation of Latham’s supposed issues in pass protection against the Seahawks. Did the sophomore blocker struggle with his anchor? Ward was routinely tasked with escaping muddied pockets on Sunday, something he did with a high degree of success.

Another week, another less-than-stellar performance from JC Latham

For an OT whose calling card is his anchor, he gets shellshocked at the point of attack far too often pic.twitter.com/bIwUKqC78I

— Drew Beatty (@IronCityFilm) November 25, 2025

A couple of offensive line experts disagreed.

Gross misrepresentation of the facts. Latham was good in this game. Clearly tripped on the first rep too. https://t.co/zOroprwyKi

— Brandon Thorn (@BrandonThornNFL) November 25, 2025

It’s been a disappointing season for Latham. They moved him from left to right tackle, his supposed more natural position. The Titans also signed reliable right guard Kevin Zeitler in free agency to add some experience next to Latham.

Latham arrived at the offseason program in terrific shape. A hip injury suffered during training camp that was initially downplayed by Brian Callahan proved to be far more significant than claimed. Hopefully the injury is the reason why Latham isn’t experiencing the sophomore season we all hoped he would.

The 2026 campaign is shaping up as a massive one for Latham.

5 Titans we’re thankful for this Holiday season

gettyimages-2191989592.jpg

The Tennessee Titans are practicing on this Thanksgiving Thursday as they prepare to face the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 13. It marks their first of two upcoming contests versus their division rival Jaguars. It’ll be Cam Ward’s first time against an opponent that will become a familiar foe, and Liam Coen’s debut versus the Nashville-based club.

We’re feeling particularly thankful on this Thanksgiving Holiday. The Titans are rebuilding the roster in the appropriate direction. With positivity on our minds, we’ve identified five Titans players we’re especially thankful for as Mike Borgonzi works to restore the franchise to prominence.

Cam Ward, QB

It obviously starts with No. 1 overall rookie quarterback Cam Ward. If the Titans are playing relevant football in New Nissan Stadium in 2027, it’s because Ward has continued to take positive steps forward as the franchise signal-caller. He played the best game of his rookie campaign versus the Seattle Seahawks in Week 12, and he’ll look to build on that performance this Sunday.

Cam Ward propaganda pic.twitter.com/vtLBUVPCdR

— Ian Hartitz (@Ihartitz) November 24, 2025

Peter Skoronski, OL

The Titans haven’t had many draft picks in recent memory worth signing to a contract extension. The Caleb Farley, Isaiah Wilson, Treylon Burks run of picks ensures that. Peter Skoronski is the exception. Skoronski has been playing high-level football at guard, and will probably sign an extension in Nashville in the $25 million per year neighborhood.

Kevin Winston Jr., S

Rookie safety Kevin Winston Jr. is relatively new to the lineup, but he’s made an instant impact. Winston Jr. was all over the field versus the Houston Texans, and he had a team-high 10 tackles the following week against Seattle. He’s looking like a legitimate building block on defense, and the Titans need more of those.

Jeffery Simmons, DT

Jeffery Simmons is currently the face of the franchise and the most recognizable player on the team league-wide. Rival GMs and head coaches rave about having to game-plan for Simmons every week. Borgonzi is infatuated with his work ethic and leadership, and will probably sign him to another contract extension this offseason.

Chimere Dike, WR

Chimere Dike is the Titans’ most dynamic returner since Marc Mariani. He’s scored a league-high two punt return touchdowns and has been borderline All-Pro on special teams. Dike also has two touchdowns on offense, as he’s played like another rookie the Titans can build forward with.

Little things making a big difference for Titans QB Cam Ward

gettyimages-2248434399.jpg

Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Cam Ward played his best game of the season against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 12. Ward will now attempt to build on that momentum versus the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 13. Having reviewed the tape of his latest performance, the little things are leading to real-time improvements.

Ward’s most eye-popping plays were off-script magic. On a 2nd-and-9, he somehow escaped the grasp of a defender to get off a chain-moving pass to Chig Okonkwo. Later on a 3rd-and-4, he avoided multiple defenders and somehow fired off a pass to Xavier Restrepo while going out of bounds midair.

sheesh Cam Ward ‼️

SEAvsTEN on FOX/FOX Onehttps://t.co/HkKw7uXVnt pic.twitter.com/z6iYLTBhsC

— NFL (@NFL) November 23, 2025

While those plays understandably captured national attention, it was the underappreciated improvements that are starting to make a big difference for Ward. Watching the All-22 of the Seahawks game, Ward’s footwork was clean and crisp. Lazy mechanics had occasionally been an issue earlier this season. On Sunday, Ward’s feet consistently moved with his head/eyes as he cycled through his progressions efficiently. His lower half was in sync with his top half, leading to timely, accurate throwing attempts.

Ward didn’t have any passes batted down at the line of scrimmage after having three passes defensed by the Houston Texans the week prior. Ward maintained good arm angles against the Seahawks and avoided mechanical mistakes that have hurt him in 2025. He also hasn’t thrown an interception in three straight games, 105 passing attempts and counting.

Ward also didn’t lose a fumble versus the Seahawks, scoring two touchdowns and completing zero turnovers. Protecting the football is a high-level priority considering he’s lost multiple fumbles this season. Avoiding turnovers versus the Jaguars would highlight continued progress.

Ward made off-script magic happen versus the Seahawks, but his better footwork and cleaner mechanics were the most notable development.

NFL power rankings week 13 and the Tennessee Titans

gettyimages-2248118752.jpg

There is a clear bottom tier when it comes to NFL teams. The Tennessee Titans, New York Jets, Las Vegas Raiders, and New Orleans Saints make up that group. Before the last two weeks, it was clear to me that the Titans were pretty easily the worst team in the league. With what Cam Ward has shown over the last couple of weeks, maybe they deserve to move up a couple of spots…maybe.

I always write this lead in before I go look and see where the Titans actually rank. I still expect them to be 32nd in every ranking, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see them move ahead of the Raiders in a spot or two. The problem there, of course, is that those two teams played with the Raiders winning 20-10.

Here is where the Titans rank in the various week 13 NFL power rankings around the internet:

ESPN: 32

PFT: 31

They aren’t giving up.

USA Today: 32

If you thought a four-game homestand was going to help a team that hasn’t won in Nashville for 13 months … welp.

The Athletic: 32

No team would rather fast-forward through these final few weeks more than the Titans, who don’t have much to look forward to until they hire their next head coach. Well, that and following their projected odds of landing the No. 1 pick for a second straight draft. (We have them at 47 percent.)

The Ringer: 30(!)

CBS Sports: 32

Cam Ward played better in the loss to the Seahawks, which is the progress that matters. The first pick looks like it’s going to be theirs.

NFL.com: 31

It was another painful loss for the Titans, who are now 0-6 in Nashville, but Cam Ward keeps providing hope for the future. In fact, this was probably his best performance yet, especially considering it came against Seattle’s stellar defense. The No. 1 overall pick continued to battle, even while trailing by 20 points late in the third quarter, finishing with 256 yards and a touchdown through the air, along with 37 more yards and an additional score on the ground. He did all that without any help from the run game, and with Tennessee’s defense struggling to get stops during the first three quarters. With Ward, fellow rookie Chimere Dike (who might be the league’s best punt returner, no joke) and a few other pieces, there is some real encouragement on offense for the next coach. Defensively, the Titans have plenty of work to do. All in all, though, this situation might not look so bad a year from now, if things go right.

Lloyd Cushenberry to miss Titans game vs. Jaguars on Sunday

gettyimages-2239472004.jpg

Tennessee Titans starting center Lloyd Cushenberry will miss the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday because of a foot injury he suffered against the Seattle Seahawks. Corey Levin will get the start at center. Levin was the center for the majority of training camp, while Cushenberry was working back from the Achilles injury from last season. That should make the transition for Cam Ward pretty easy.

The Titans also ruled out cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis, safety Kendall Brooks, and defensive tackle Shy Tuttle. They have four players listed as questionable – Elic Ayomanor, Dan Moore, Chig Okonkwo, and Xavier Woods. They really need all four of those guys out there in a game they should have a chance to win. The good news is that all four were limited in practice on Friday.

This is the Titans’ final game of a four-game homestand that spanned the month of November. It sure would be nice to see them get at least one win!

Titans opening odds: Tennessee opens as 6.5-point underdog to Jaguars

gettyimages-2248113001.jpg

The Tennessee Titans are finally less than a touchdown underdog! They are a 6.5-point home underdog against the Jacksonville Jaguars this week according to Fanduel. No game feels all that winnable for the Titans, but this is one where they could have a chance if Cam Ward continues to play the way he has over the last couple of weeks.

The Jaguars’ defense isn’t bad, but it is not as good as the defenses the Titans have faced over the last couple of weeks. Jacksonville ranks 17th in yards allowed (352.5 per game), 24th in passing yards allowed (240 per game), and 15th in points allowed (22.7). They are, however, really good against the run, allowing only 83.8 yards per game. That is the best in the NFL. Good thing the Titans can’t run the ball anyway.

Ward has shown some real growth over the last few weeks. Now, he gets a chance to go against a pass defense that isn’t in the top 10 in the league. Will that be enough for the Titans to pull out their second win of the season?

Titans head coaching search profile: Klint Kubiak, OC, Seahawks

gettyimages-2237567125.jpg

Klint Kubiak is another rising candidate in the 2026 head coaching class in the NFL. This one is a bit more personal to me because this is a guy that I’ve had my eye on since week one. I felt like he was an OC who got a bad shake at things and was very excited when I saw he was getting one more shot from the Seahawks, and my Seahawks friends were also very excited (they also have had very high praise for him as the season has gone on). One of them even keeps begging me to stop bringing up the idea of someone poaching him for a head coaching position. Anyway, the bottom line is, everyone is excited about Kubiak, a new hotshot candidate that can be the next wonder boy of offensive schematics. The truth is, though, like every offensive guru, he still has his negatives. So, let’s get into his background, his positives, and his negatives. With some of the highest highs and lowest lows, here is the head coaching profile of Klint Kubiak.

Klint Kubiak’s start

To start, Klint Kubiak had much less humble beginnings than Chris Shula did. While Shula started as an assistant linebackers coach at Ball State, Klint immediately got his start at Texas A&M as an offensive quality control coach. He spent two years with that title and then became a grad assistant in his third year at A&M. Then he got called up to the big leagues. He was asked to be an offensive quality control coach with the Minnesota Vikings and spent two years in that position, and then went back to college to be a wide receivers coach at Kansas, where he spent one year. After that, he went to the Denver Broncos as an offensive assistant, where he was able to coach with his dad for the first year and then remained there for an extra two years in the same title. After that, Mike Zimmer called him up to be Kirk Cousins’ QB coach in 2019, where Klint (alongside Kevin Stefanski) helped Kirk have a nice bounce-back year. Then, he stayed around in 2020 with his dad as the offensive coordinator. After 2020, though, he got the big job, offensive coordinator for the Vikings, where his offense ranked 12th in total yards, not bad, but with a head coach out the door, and an offensive mind on the way in, he was never going to stay. So, Klint met up with the son of one of his dad’s closest friends, Kyle Shanahan, in San Francisco, where he served as the passing game coordinator as a reset. He got his second shot with the New Orleans Saints, where after the unit looked unstoppable for three weeks, then reality hit. The offense ranked 21st with a head coach on the way out again. Most people knew he wasn’t the problem, though, and teams gave him interviews where he got his most likely last chance as an OC with the Seahawks, and, well, judging by the fact that you’re reading this article, it can be assumed that he has been pretty great.

Positives of Klint Kubiak

So, the positives of Klint Kubiak are some of the biggest positives of this entire head coaching cycle. The first, and my personal favorite part of a Klint Kubiak-coached team is easily his offense. Obviously, his offense has been good, but that’s not what makes it stand out. No, what makes his offensive system stand out is that it is one of the most timeless offensive schemes in the NFL, with the Gary Kubiak West Coast offense. Whenever this offense is given to the right person or leader, it produces some of the top numbers in the NFL, and top teams at that. He is one of the people who has used it so well, especially with the pieces he has been given (that’s not a shot at Darnold, more at the weapons outside of JSN). Speaking of JSN, another big positive of Klint is that he uses his best skill players as much as possible, which makes him the anti-Arthur Smith in some ways. He did this with Justin Jefferson and Alvin Kamara, and he continues to do this with JSN. This is a very good thing because it makes teams so focused on that player; it gives a lot more opportunities to other players who probably wouldn’t get as open without that. Actually, Mike MacDonald spoke on this when the announcement of Kubiak’s hiring was made; he said,

“He is able to kind of accentuate and highlight some of the players at any given position,” Macdonald said. “You look at where Alvin Kamara started out his season last year, Derek Carr was playing at a really high level at quarterback. Kirk Cousins, back in Minnesota, was playing really probably the best ball of his career when Klint was coaching him. Justin Jefferson was a first-year player and had a ton of catches his rookie year, had big-time games. Those are the things I respect about Klint and how he builds it and understanding how to take care of guys’ strengths and mitigate weaknesses.”

It sounds bad at first because it sounds like the offense is predictable, but it actually makes it even better. The last thing I’ll mention is his coolness. This is something that has been mentioned to me more than I have noticed it. Specifically looking at his press conferences, he doesn’t come off as some crazy, fiery personality; he just comes off as just a cool, collected guy, but he’s still confident in his decisions (unlike some “calm” coaches). Now, even though I said Kubiak has some of the biggest positives, he also has some of the biggest negatives.

Klint Kubiak Negatives

Like I said at the end of the last paragraph, while Kubiak has a very high ceiling as a head coach, he also has a very low floor for these reasons. First off, even though he’s calm and collected, that is also a negative of him to me. Only because I have no idea what he would be like as a leader for this team. His calm presence could make him very easily a great leader, but, at the same time, it could also make him very hard to get behind and compete for. I’m not saying his whole identity has to be that he’s a leader. I’m just saying I haven’t seen anything that screams leader. I’ll also say, I’m a little worried about his experience a lot more than I am with Shula’s. That’s because, as much as Seahawks fans love Kubiak, they will also be the first ones to tell you that he also has one terrible play call per game that makes you really confused about why he’s so loved. I think part of that is also that he’s finally branching out into adding his own stuff into his schemes instead of just riding off of his dad’s schemes, which is probably for the better. Still, though, it makes me think he’d be a phenomenal 2026 candidate, instead of a great 2025 candidate. The biggest thing I worry about, though, is how similar he is to Brian Callahan. I remember someone commenting on my last post saying they were out on Shula because he was too similar to Callahan, but I feel like Klint is more similar. Now, obviously, Klint is also a lot like Kyle Shanahan, too. If you want to see those similarities, you can look at the many posts from content creators saying those, but he’s a young offensive mind with a big last name who has used his connections to get to as many places as he’s been. That worries me, again, he has playcalling experience and has also run his side of the ball, but it would be very unwise to look at the concerns there are, especially after coming off a nepo baby disaster. Still, though, even with the negatives that come with Kubiak, he is obviously a very strong candidate who has a sky-high ceiling.

What are the Chances For Kubiak?

Honestly, even though I actually think Kubiak is more likely for the Titans to hire than Shula, solely because he’s an offensive mind, it is still not likely that Klint Kubiak lands the job. This has to do with the fact that Kubiak isn’t as experienced as the Titans want him to be, but there is something bigger than experience, and that’s other teams. There are going to be other teams wanting a new head coach this offseason, and even though I think our job is very appealing, there is one that I think might end up being a better fit for Kubiak. I think the Giants end up landing Klint Kubiak, and he ends up being the replacement for Brian Daboll. Think about it, a defense with some very good pieces with a young, promising QB with a solid O-line, two quality young running backs, alongside a great receiver that he can spam all season long. It just makes too much sense for someone as smart as him. It’s like he would just end up going from one offense with a QB who could be good in the right system with two good running backs, an O-line, and a great receiver, to another. That’s one good coordinator hire away from being a competitive team. Now, I personally think he’d be better off drafting a receiver of his own that he can develop, but I would 100% understand if he ended up with NY. Even though I don’t think it’s likely for the Titans to hire him, it would 100% be a solid hire in my eyes.

Titans vs. Jaguars discussion: React to today’s game

gettyimages-1924866212.jpg

The Tennessee Titans wrap up a four-game homestand today that spanned the month of November. They are 0-3 in those games so far, but have played better in the last couple of weeks. Can they put it together today and get a win against the 7-4 Jacksonville Jaguars?

Cam Ward finally gets to face a defense that isn’t in the top 10 against. That hasn’t happened for him very often this season. He has been good against two really good defenses the last two weeks. Hopefully, today will be the day that he puts up 300+ yards with multiple passing touchdowns for the first time in his career.

The Titans’ defense has also played better than expected the last few weeks. They are missing so many guys they were counting on at the first of the year due to either trades or injuries. Dennard Wilson has really done a great job. He probably won’t be here next year, but he has proven he deserves to be a defensive coordinator in this league.

Titans fall to Jaguars 25-3

gettyimages-2249234425.jpg

Cam Ward and the Tennessee Titans’ offense looked like they were taking some big steps forward over the last two weeks. All of that progress completely disappeared in today’s 25-3 loss at home to the Jacksonville Jaguars. After coming out on their first possession and moving the ball, they were unable to get anything going for the rest of the game. I was at the game, and it was one of the most boring games I’ve ever been to.

Cam Ward had a rough day. He finished 24 of 38 for 141 yards. He added one carry for seven yards. There were some throws he missed, but there honestly wasn’t much there for him to take advantage of. The offense as a whole is just terrible.

Tony Pollard got off to a fast start with carries of 15, 11, and 10 yards on his first three carries. After the 10-yard run, they tried an end-around to Chimere Dike that went for one yard. Why get cute when just handing the ball to Pollard is working so well? The only answer is that Bo Hardegree is just not a good playcaller.

The defense actually played pretty well. They were on the field for the entire day because six of the Titans’ 10 offensive drives went for five plays or less. There was also a Chimere Dike fumble on a punt return. To only give up 25 points when faced with that isn’t half bad.

That’s really all there is to say about this one. The Titans are still a bad football team that currently holds the top overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Titans opening odds: Tennessee opens as underdog at Cleveland Browns

gettyimages-2248152953.jpg

Will the Tennessee Titans ever open as a favorite in a game again? The answer to that is *probably* yes, but it isn’t going to be anytime soon. There is a slight chance they will be a favorite when the New Orleans Saints come to town on December 28th, but if the Titans continue to play like they did yesterday over the next month, they will be an underdog in that game as well.

This week, they open as a 3.5-point underdog at the Cleveland Browns. So much of the narrative around this game is going to be Cam Ward vs. Sheduer Sanders. That’s pretty dumb, but we know how the national media works. It’s going to be a tough game for Ward because Cleveland has a really good defense, headlined by Myles Garrett. He’s going to have a field day lining up against Dan Moore. The Titans should probably just plan on keeping Chig Okonkwo on that side to help, and have the running back slide that direction on every play.

This is probably going to be a 6-3 game that the Browns win, but hey, at least in that scenario the Titans cover, right??
