Anthony Edwards Sends Warning to League After Playoff Exit

It’s all over for the Minnesota Timberwolves, and now the team is starting summer vacation earlier than they wanted.

Following their 124-94 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals, the Timberwolves are regrouping and figuring out what comes next.

Speaking to ESPN after the game, Anthony Edwards vowed that this offseason will be filled with a lot of work and determination.

“I’m going to work my butt off this summer,” Edwards said after Minnesota’s loss. “Nobody’s going to work harder than me this summer. I’ll tell you that much.”

Edwards expected to march all the way to the NBA Finals, and it looked like his team had a chance to do just that.

Then they met with the Thunder, and everything changed.

The Thunder pushed them harder than anyone else, and they had a handle on every game, short of the massive Game 3 win for Minnesota.

Wednesday’s Game 5 was filled with many errors for the Timberwolves, including 21 turnovers, which led to 18 points for the Thunder.

As for Edwards, he posted 19 points, six rebounds, and two assists.

The Thunder limited Edwards multiple times throughout this series, and it obviously left an impact on him.

Now he is more determined than ever and will spend the next few months working hard to get himself prepared for next season.

However, competition will be tough next year too.

The Thunder are obviously going to remain a huge threat, and other teams will be improving in the offseason.

Therefore, Edwards has the right mindset and is going to use this defeat as motivation to push himself and his team forward.

Timberwolves Are Reportedly ‘Very Intrigued’ By Trading For Suns Star

Just like a number of other teams, the Minnesota Timberwolves would love to acquire Kevin Durant from the Phoenix Suns.

But, also like other teams, they would have to give up a lot to get him.

According to Shams Charania, per Evan Sidery, the T-Wolves would like to trade for Durant without shipping away Jaden McDaniels or Naz Reid.

If this deal was going to work, Minnesota would have to cut ties with Julius Randle or Rudy Gobert.

That’s a big haul, so will the Timberwolves be up for it?

The Timberwolves are very intrigued by the idea of trading for Kevin Durant without including Jaden McDaniels or Naz Reid in the deal, per @ShamsCharania on @PatMcAfeeShow.

Losing either Randle or Gobert would be a huge deal for the Timberwolves.

Randle is new to the team, but Gobert has been viewed as a central piece of their present and future.

Would they even consider letting either of these players go?

It all depends on whether they believe Durant is the secret to success and the missing piece they need to go even further in the playoffs.

If Durant is viewed as that important, they would be willing to do a lot to get him.

However, McDaniels and Reid are off limits, according to this report.

This also depends on what the Suns think, of course.

Would they be able to start their next chapter with either Randle or Gobert, or do they need more than that?

They are likely hearing offers from numerous teams, and they are only going to commit to something that helps them win now and long into the future.

This would be a large trade, one that could shake up both teams.

Both sides have to weigh their options before they take any sort of steps forward.

West Contender Is Reportedly ‘Gaining Steam’ As Potential Landing Spot For Kevin Durant

While the Indiana Pacers and Oklahoma City Thunder are battling in the NBA Finals, Kevin Durant is keeping his fans on their toes about where he’s going to play next.

For the past two seasons, Durant tried to get the Phoenix Suns back to the Finals, but it looks like that experiment is over.

Although he turns 37 in September, the 15-time All-Star still has the talent to help a team.

There has been no shortage of suitors in the Durant sweepstakes, but one Western Conference power may have the best shot at landing him.

According to NBA insider Zach Lowe via NBA Central on X, the Minnesota Timberwolves are reportedly “gaining steam” as the franchise to land Durant.

“Lowe said he would put the Timberwolves at No. 1 in the ‘buzz’ rankings in the Durant sweepstakes, with the Houston Rockets at No. 2,” said the post.

Minnesota has advanced to the Conference Finals the past two seasons but lost both times and it is clear they need a shot of adrenaline to get over the hump.

Durant would almost certainly make that happen.

Depending on who the T-Wolves would send the Suns’ way in a trade, the team would gain instant credibility and become a threat for next year’s Finals.

Current Minnesota star Anthony Edwards is known to be a huge fan of Durant, and his appreciation of his idol was seen in the Netflix documentary ‘Starting 5.’

Pairing Durant and Edwards would provide must-see viewing for fans and stoke fear in the hearts of opponents.

Chris Finch ‘Absolutely’ Expects 2 Timberwolves Players To Stay Next Season

The Minnesota Timberwolves went far in the playoffs, but not far enough.

They are hoping to return even stronger next season, ideally with the same roster they have now.

According to head coach Chris Finch, two Timberwolves stars receiving a lot of attention will be back next year.

Finch said, via Fullcourtpress, that he “absolutely” expects Naz Reid and Julius Randle to be with Minnesota when the new season kicks off.

As powerful as Finch is, he doesn’t have the last say, but this statement definitely means something.

He wasn’t ambiguous or vague and plainly stated that both players will be back.

Reid and Randle have been at the center of many headlines lately because they are both confronting their respective player options.

Randle has been with the Timberwolves for just one season, but he could decline his option and test the free agency waters.

However, his $31 million player option will be hard to top by other teams, and he might be smart to remain with the Timberwolves.

As for Reid, a lot of people feel there is a stronger chance he leaves.

His $15 million player option could be outdone by several other squads, so he has more choices than Randle.

Despite all of these choices and possibilities, Finch still thinks that Reid and Randle will be suiting up for the Timberwolves for the foreseeable future.

But will the roster go through any other changes?

Even if Reid and Randle stay, other players could be leaving because the front office is eager to take that final step and reach the highest level possible for this team.

Finch thinks these two will stay, but that doesn’t guarantee the roster will look the same in 2025-26.

Details Emerge About Timberwolves’ Trade Proposal For Kevin Durant

Phoenix Suns v Minnesota Timberwolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves are just one of the teams attempting to trade for Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns.

We still don’t know which franchise will be lucky enough to get Durant, but we are now aware of what Minnesota is offering.

According to John Gambadoro, via Fullcourtpass, the Timberwolves’ current trade proposal for Durant is Rudy Gobert, Donte DiVincenzo, Rob Dillingham and/or Terrance Shannon Jr., and the 17th draft pick.

That’s quite the haul, but will the Suns go for it?

That would be a great collection of players and assets for the Suns, but that doesn’t mean they will agree to these terms.

They are looking for a level of win-now talent and some building blocks for the future, especially since they decimated their trade assets by acquiring the big three of Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal.

This trade offer would definitely help the Suns win now and would also probably help them in the long term.

It is hard to imagine Phoenix getting a proposal better than this one, but they are still listening.

The fact that the Timberwolves are willing to give up Gobert, someone seen as a future of the franchise, says a lot about how they view Durant.

They want to be invested and all-in on him and his place on the team.

The Suns have a lot to consider, and there isn’t a strong indication of which way they are planning to go.

The Timberwolves have made their offer, but now the Suns have to weigh it against the ones presented by the Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs, Toronto Raptors, and more.

Details Emerge About Timberwolves’ Offer For Kevin Durant

Minnesota Timberwolves v Phoenix Suns

In the weeks before his trade to the Houston Rockets, there were rumors about Kevin Durant joining the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The idea of Durant playing alongside Anthony Edwards was tantalizing to fans, but it wasn’t meant to be.

We now know the inside information about what the T-Wolves offered the Suns for Durant.

According to John Gambadoro, via Legion Hoops, the Wolves offered Rudy Gobert, Donte DiVincenzo, Rob Dillingham, or Terrence Shannon Jr. along with the No. 17 pick.

We don’t know why, but the Suns turned them down.

REPORT: The Wolves offer for KD included Gobert, DiVincenzo, Dillingham or Shannon Jr. and the No. 17 pick, per @Gambo987.

— Legion Hoops (@LegionHoops) June 23, 2025

This is an interesting package, and people are curious why Phoenix turned them down.

Gobert is one of the best big men in the league, a multiple Defensive Player of the Year who could add so much to the Suns’ frontcourt.

As for DiVincenzo, Dillingham, and Shannon, they could all provide reliable help both on and off the bench.

The Suns ended up going with a deal from Houston that some people consider minor and lacking.

It’s not clear what’s next for the team.

It’s also not clear what is next for these few Timberwolves players, because the front office is obviously okay with the idea of cutting them loose.

They didn’t put a package together with the Suns, but what’s stopping them from shipping them around some more during the summer?

Did we just get insight into Minnesota’s mindset, and could we be seeing any of these players leave the Wolves in the months ahead?

Losing Gobert would be a massive change for the team, but the fact that he was reportedly part of a potential package for Durant means he is expendable in some ways, if the right offer comes to Minnesota.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker Could Make Major Career Decision In Free Agency

Golden State Warriors v Minnesota Timberwolves - Game Five

It looks like it is the end of the road for Nickeil Alexander-Walker and the Minnesota Timberwolves.

After spending multiple seasons with the team, he is heading for the exit, according to new reporting.

On X, Jake Weinbach wrote that Alexander-Walker is expected to leave Minnesota in free agency this summer.

After the team just signed Naz Reid to a new five-year deal, there is simply no financial flexibility to also include Alexander-Walker.

“Alexander-Walker is set to become one of the more sought-after free agents this year,” Weinbach wrote.
Nickeil Alexander-Walker is expected to leave Minnesota in free agency as the Timberwolves approach the 2nd apron for a consecutive season after signing Naz Reid to a five-year, $125M deal.

Alexander-Walker is set to become one of the more sought-after free agents this year.

— Jake Weinbach (@JWeinbachNBA) June 28, 2025

Last season, Alexander-Walker averaged 9.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists on 43.8 percent from the field.

It was his third season in Minnesota and has has averaged 8.4 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists during that time.

As noted by Weinbach, a lot of teams will keep a close eye on Alexander-Walker because he is highly sought after.

His special skill set makes him very attractive and one of the most exciting bench players in the league.

He has a chance to make a nice, hefty contract with a new team, and the Timberwolves may miss him.

Now is not the time for Minnesota to get weaker.

They are trying to climb higher in the standings, not fall lower, and they need all the help they can get.

Who will pick up the slack and fill the void left by Alexander-Walker?

There are questions about how this team will look moving forward.

The loss of Alexander-Walker will hurt them, but they can still recover and find a way to push ahead without him.

Naz Reid Makes Big Decision About His Contract

Naz Reid has made a choice about his future with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

There was speculation about him all season long, with many people thinking he was going to walk away from the team.

On Friday night, Shams Charania reported that Reid will instead sign a new five-year, $125 million contract to stay with the Wolves.

This new deal also includes a player option.

— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) June 28, 2025

The next chapter for Reid is beginning, and it’ll stay in Minnesota.

This answers one of the biggest questions about this team and surely makes the fan base incredibly happy.

They love what they see from Reid, who posted 14.2 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.3 assists last season.

He has been a crucial part of this team’s chemistry over the seasons and won the 2023-24 Sixth Man of the Year award.

Many people are surprised to see him come back to the Wolves, because they thought he’d strike a better deal somewhere else.

But now he will be with the team for the foreseeable future, and he could greatly help their chances of making the playoffs again.

Will the T-Wolves keep their exact same roster next season, or will there be changes during the summer?

Who will stay and who will go, and will the team have more luck next year?

The return of Reid is good news for team chemistry and what they have been trying to build.

However, fans are ready to see this squad take it to the next level and show what they are truly capable of.

Will they do that in 2025-26?

Timberwolves Wing Emerges As ‘Top Target’ For Multiple NBA Teams

Portland Trail Blazers v Minnesota Timberwolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves are one of the many teams that could transform in the summer.

There were already rumors about them acquiring Kevin Durant, but those obviously didn’t lead anywhere.

But, what is next for the Wolves and who could they get, or lose, in the months ahead?

According to Brian Windhorst, per Evan Sidery, Nickeil Alexander-Walker is a “top target” for multiple teams heading into free agency.

The Timberwolves, unfortunately, cannot hang onto Alexander-Walker because of apron restrictions, which means he will most certainly find a new home in the league this summer.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker is a top target for multiple teams heading into free agency, per @WindhorstESPN.

It’s very unlikely Minnesota will be able to keep NAW due to apron restrictions. pic.twitter.com/6kSs2S6git

— Evan Sidery (@esidery) June 27, 2025

In 2024-25, Alexander-Walker averaged 9.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists on 43.8 percent from the floor and 38.1 percent from the three-point line.

He played in all 82 games, starting in 10 of them and appearing on the court for an average of 25.3 minutes.

Alexander-Walker might not be the biggest name on the team, and he may not be a consistent starter, but there are a bunch of teams who would be happy to have him.

He is the definition of a reliable supporting star: someone who produces off the bench, stays healthy, and always shows up.

One can understand why he would be a top target, especially if the price is right.

But what is the price for someone like Alexander-Walker?

Players are getting paid a lot more these days, and there is a chance he fetches a hefty salary, even if a team doesn’t envision him as a starting player.

Losing Alexander-Walker will hurt the Timberwolves, so they are surely hard at work thinking of ways to replace his output.

In a perfect world, they would keep him, but they simply cannot because of league tax reasons.
