News Thunder Team Notes

Thunder predicted to create NBA's top duo by swapping Isaiah Hartenstein, draft capital for $276 million superstar

The Oklahoma City Thunder will finish the 2025 NBA season with the best record, but they are hoping to finish the job this postseason and win a championship rather than getting bounced out of the second round again. ClutchPoints' Bailey Bassett predicts that OKC will do just that and land Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic in a trade this offseason.

Oklahoma City Thunder Make History with Unprecedented Season-Long Dominance

The Thunder's 40 wins by 15 points or more are the most in NBA history, topping the previous record (37) held by the 1970-71 Bucks. Oklahoma City had a regular season like none other in NBA history. The Thunder — who went 68-14 — finished the season outscoring teams by 12.9 points per game, smashing the previous mark that had stood for more than a half-century. The Los Angeles Lakers outscored teams by 12.3 points per game in 1971-72, and that was the record until now.

OKC Thunder Should Be Well Represented With NBA Defensive Awards

Oklahoma City should see plenty of representation across the board with the MVP, Executive of the Year and a plethora of defensive awards. While the media handles voting on these honors with pride, it is unquestionably difficult to sift through defenders to cast your support for a Defensive Player of the Year and a pair of All-Defensive teams. The Oklahoma City Thunder own a historic defense, with a 106.6 defensive rating (Best in the League), averaging 10.3 steals per game (An NBA Best), 5.7 blocks per game (Second in the NBA) and letting up just 42.5 points per game in the paint (best in the NBA).

Ranking the 4 play-in tournament teams OKC Thunder could face in Round 1 of NBA playoffs

Like Joaquin Phoenix sitting on his throne in "Gladiator," the Oklahoma City Thunder must hold a week of playoff practices not knowing who their Round 1 opponent will be until Friday night. The play-in tournament will determine which four teams capture the seventh and eighth seeds. Arguably Adam Silver's best brainchild, the play-in tournament is an extra espresso shot to your fully caffeinated iced coffee filled with enough sugar to make your dentist squeal. The Thunder will have to wait for who among the Golden State Warriors, Memphis Grizzlies, Sacramento Kings and Dallas Mavericks capture the eighth seed.

Thunder's Jalen Williams reveals 'biggest' lessons learned from last season's playoff run

Before Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star Jalen Williams' second NBA postseason, he reflected on his first experience and the contrast between the regular season and the playoffs. The Thunder are favorites to win the NBA Finals. Before finding out who their first-round opponent will be, Jalen knows the shift that comes with playoff basketball, coming off of Oklahoma City's Western Conference semifinal loss to the Dallas Mavericks last year. Williams reflected on last year's experience after Thunder practice.
