Who is the key player in basketball according to you guys?
I will go with power forward as the games(more like the flow of the game) depends on that person. The guards are good too but if a team contains a good power forward, then the team's ability raises.

So, what position will you choose?

You cannot generalize this because basketball is a team sport predominantly. This is very prominent team sport and although every team has a key player usually it is not all black and white and sometimes teams with better second roster or the bench team win the games solely because of that.
I actually think that most of the key players are players from position 1 to 3 even if a team has a power forward like O'Neal was during his days.
In NBA for example key players are or were Jordan, Bird, Bryant, Curry, James, Nash, Stockton, McGready, Iverson, Anthony and many more. I do not say likes of Howard, Ming, O'Neal, Garnet or Duncan were not leaders but it is rare I believe.

Well, as the saying goes, "there's no 'I' in team." All positions are important and can be equally important at any given moment. However, if I had to give an answer, I would say guards are most vital to the game because they are usually the ones to set up a play, especially in slower "east coast style" NBA play that favors specific plays and more man-on-man coverage.
