Summer is more than halfway over for me... I'm not all that upset that school is starting up in like 5 weeks, though. I'm Mr. Lonely during the summer.

Yeah, you can barely get a job at a fast food restaurant with just a high school diploma now. I'll be lucky to ever find a job in high school. I didn't get any, then in the two weeks following graduation I got three. I obviously quit two of them, but oh well. Most places don't want to deal with high school kids anymore. Why schedule around school when you have so many adults very eager to work anytime?
Yeah and the economy certainly doesn't help high school kids getting jobs.

I start September 4th, the day after Labor day just as I would have if I was in any public school. Although I do have Fall Welcome, which all freshmen must attend, the week before. It is most of four days so basically I wil not work at all that week. They make us attend and then charge us for it. I love all the stupid charges that colleges put on their students.

I am very lucky that thanks to some very nice anonymous donors most of my tuition is paid for. That goes for anybody that graduates from district having been continuously enrolled since at least freshmen year of high school. The only thing is we must go to a public college or university in Michigan, but otherwise very few requirements.

Haha Wow you start a lot earlier in the east.

My brother moves into his college dormitory like August 17th. He's in the marching band, so he has to show up a few weeks earlier than everyone else.

The first Back-To-School commercials have started to air.

This is a sad, sad time indeed.

So in my local paper today there was a front page article on turning locals schools year-round school systems, and apparently there's already 15 schools in Iowa that do it.

Kill me.

I couldn't stand that. 9 months is bad enough, but a whole year... I'd die.

Well, what they'd do, is they'd have 3 months of school, 1 month break, 3 months of school, 1 month break, 3 months of school, 1 month break, then repeat, so we'd still get breaks, and it'd be technically just as long as summer break, but it would be spread out through the year. I personally prefer 3 straight months off, but I've talked to a couple friends about it, and they actually think three separate breaks sound better.

That doesn't sound that bad... It might actually be pretty nice, depending on when the breaks are.

It is becoming a common trend. I would personally support it, it seems many kids bored over a three month break. I know I did every year. The only reason I am not this year is I have a job.

There's still a long ways to go. At least winter break is very close from now.
