Steelers playoff picture: What Week 16 vs. Lions means for AFC standings

gettyimages-2252113838.jpg

The Pittsburgh Steelers had the chance to make a massive late-season statement in Week 16. Going on the road to face the Detroit Lions, who were in desperate need of a win to stay alive in the NFC playoff race, a win to get Pittsburgh to 9-6 put a ton of pressure on the Baltimore Ravens. It took all 60 minutes but they got it done.

To make matters way better, the Ravens lost on Sunday night. Baltimore will have to defeat the Green Bay Packers in Week 17 to remain alive in the playoff race.

Here are the AFC North standings, as well as the overall playoff standings in the AFC.

AFC North Standings

The Steelers control their own destiny now and their magic number is one. A steelers win OR a Ravens loss in Week 17 sews it up for Pittsburgh.

  1. Pittsburgh Steelers 9-6
  2. Baltimore Ravens 7-7
  3. Cincinnati Bengals 5-10
  4. Cleveland Browns 3-12

Steelers open as favorites vs. Browns in Week 17

gettyimages-2253039832.jpg

The Pittsburgh Steelers have won three consecutive games, the most recent over the Detroit Lions being the biggest of the season, to put them just one win away from clinching the AFC North. And while the division is within reach for Pittsburgh, by no means is Week 17 against the Cleveland Browns a game that can be penciled in as a victory.

The Steelers have lost their last three games in Cleveland, and they’ll be facing a hungry Myles Garrett, who is one sack away from breaking the all-time sack record. This is likely going to be a close game, which is exactly how FanDuel Sportsbook feels about it heading into the penultimate week of the season.

Per FanDuel, the Steelers open as 4.5-point favorites against the Browns. Cleveland is coming off a 23-20 loss to the Buffalo Bills – a game in which they lost rookie running back Quinshon Judkins to a broken leg and dislocated ankle. This will be the first time the Steelers are facing Shedeur Sanders, who enters the game with six touchdowns to eight interceptions.

The Steelers are coming off their best offensive performance of the season against the Lions, putting up 481 yards of offense. With a win or a Baltimore Ravens loss to the Green Bay Packers, Pittsburgh will win the AFC North.

Steelers WR DK Metcalf suspended two games

gettyimages-2253169204.jpg

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf has been suspended two games by the NFL, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. Metcalf made contact with a fan during the Steelers’ win over the Detroit Lions.

“NFL suspended Steelers WR D.K. Metcalf two games for the swipe he took at a fan during Sunday’s game in Detroit,” Schefter reports. “Metcalf still can appeal, but he now is slated to miss the Steelers’ upcoming potential game vs. the Browns.”

— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) December 22, 2025

Metcalf reportedly has a previous history with the fan, per Tom Pelissero.

“Steelers WR DK Metcalf had a history with the Lions fan he confronted Sunday,” Pelissero posts on X. “Metcalf reported the same fan to Seahawks security last season while playing for Seattle, sources say.”

The suspension means that for the remainder of the regular season, the Steelers will be without their No. 1 receiver. They will face the Cleveland Browns next Sunday in a game that could see them wrap up the AFC North with a win.

Aaron Rodgers has been key to Steelers three-game win streak

gettyimages-2253039832.jpg

In previous years, poor quarterback play doomed the season in December and January, not giving the Steelers much of a chance in the playoffs. In 2025, Aaron Rodgers is elevating them.

The Steelers have won three games in a row and are one win, or a Baltimore loss in Green Bay, away from clinching the AFC North title for the first time since 2020. It would be the first time the Steelers will host a playoff game with fans in the stands since 2017.

Following unsuccessful runs with Kenny Pickett, Justin Fields, Russell Wilson, and others, Aaron Rodgers has put the Steelers in the best position they’ve seen in years. Rodgers has been the conductor, the point guard, the leader of a Steelers offense that has new life.

During the Steelers’ three-game winning streak, Rodgers has thrown for 774 yards, five touchdowns, and zero interceptions against the Ravens, Dolphins, and Lions. PFF wasn’t a fan of Rodgers’ play early in the season, but was complimentary of how the 42-year-old quarterback has recently turned a corner after his fractured left wrist injury against the Bengals.

Rodgers owns an 80.2% adjusted completion rate and a 106.4 passer rating, per PFF. He’s also recorded an impressive eight “big time throws” in the victories to improve to 9-6 and build a two-game lead.

Aaron Rodgers during the Steelers' 3-game winning streak:

♦️ 80.2% adjusted completion rate
♦️ 783 total yards
♦️ 5 total TDs | 0 INTs
♦️ 8 big-time throws
♦️ 106.4 passer rating https://t.co/KxZ2TvWxJf pic.twitter.com/ptI85N6BIS

— PFF (@PFF) December 22, 2025

In 14 games, Rodgers owns a 66.7% completion percentage, 2,860 yards, 24 total touchdowns, and seven interceptions. Rodgers hasn’t thrown an interception in his last five games and three of his eight turnovers came in the first three weeks. The 29-24 victory in Detroit clinched the Steelers’ NFL record 22-year streak of not having a losing season. Mike Tomlin’s streak is up to 19 consecutive years without having a losing season.

Rodgers and the Steelers are hot at the right time and have changed some minds after an impressive win against the Lions. Rodgers has been the key nucleus behind all of it. The Steelers are averaging 28 points per game in their last three games after a disastrous performance against Buffalo, with “fire Tomlin” chants and fans booing Renegade in an embarrassing 19-point loss.

Rodgers has seemingly taken more control, the Steelers claimed Adam Thielen and evaluated Marquez Valdez-Scantling, and Rodgers has made checks into his only plays… and it sure is working now. The Steelers will play the Browns on Sunday at 1 p.m., and the division may already be clinched before they take the field. If the Ravens lose to the Packers, the Steelers could sit their starters for two weeks in a row to prepare for the playoffs.

DK Metcalf’s suspension upheld by NFL

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf has had his two-game suspension upheld by the NFL, per Adam Schefter.

“NFL upheld DK Metcalf’s two-game suspension,” Schefter reports. “He now will miss Pittsburgh’s final two regular-season games at Cleveland and against Baltimore. Metcalf now loses $555,556 in salary and has the guarantees on $45 million voided.”

— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) December 24, 2025

Metcalf made contact with a fan during Week 16’s win over the Detroit Lions, swatting at his face after the fan was verbally taunting him.

The Steelers will now be without Metcalf until the postseason begins, assuming they make it to the playoffs. Pittsburgh clinches the AFC North with a win or a loss by the Baltimore Ravens to the Green Bay Packers. If neither of those scenarios happens, the Week 18 matchup between the Steelers and Ravens will be for the division.

Steelers sign veteran wide receiver after DK Metcalf suspension

gettyimages-2245854877.jpg

The Pittsburgh Steelers are signing veteran wide receiver Brandon Johnson to their practice squad, per Mike DeFabo of The Athletic.

Johnson appeared in three games for the Steelers in 2024, catching one pass on 19 offensive snaps. He has 26 catches and five touchdowns in his career.

The Steelers are signing WR Brandon Johnson to the practice squad, per source.

Johnson, who has played in 23 NFL games since 2022, was with the Steelers last year and in camp this season before he sustained a foot injury. He adds depth with DK Metcalf suspended.

— Mike DeFabo (@MikeDeFabo) December 24, 2025

The addition of Johnson comes after the NFL upheld its two-game suspension on wide receiver DK Metcalf. Metcalf got into an altercation with a fan during the Steelers’ win over the Detroit Lions in Week 16 in which he grabbed the fan and swatted at his face. Johnson now provides depth for the Steelers should they need it over the next two games.

The Steelers can clinch the AFC North ahead of their Week 17 game against the Cleveland Browns if the Green Bay Packers defeat the Baltimore Ravens. If the Ravens win, the Steelers clinch the division with a win.

Teryl Austin admits just how valuable Derrick Harmon has become

gettyimages-2240637027.jpg

The Pittsburgh Steelers selected defensive tackle Derrick Harmon in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. The former Oregon Duck is having a phenomenal rookie year, one that his defensive coordinator, Teryl Austin, is taking note of.

“When Derrick Harmon plays, we’re good,” Austin said on Wednesday.

When talking about Harmon’s snaps against two-time all-pro offensive tackle Penei Sewell, Austin sang more of the same praises.

“It didn’t look like a mismatch, I’ll tell you that.”

Teryl Austin says 'when Derrick Harmon plays, we're good' with a big smile on his face.

Then went into his snaps against Lions star OT Penei Sewell and said 'it didn't look like a mismatch, I'll tell you that.'

— Ross McCorkle (@Ross_McCorkle) December 22, 2025

Austin’s comments could not be more complimentary of the way the rookie has played, but they also could not be more true. Pittsburgh’s run defense has been very up and down this season, but much like Austin said, when Harmon is on the field, the Steelers stop the run a lot better.

In the five games Harmon has missed this season, the Steelers have conceded an average of 165.6 yards per game. However, when Harmon is in the lineup, that number drops to an average of 87.9 yards per contest.

Without Derrick Harmon the Steelers give up an average of 165.6 rushing yards per game.

With Harmon, that number drops to just 87.9 yards per game.

The Steelers held the Lions to a season low 15 yards rushing last weekend, coincidentally the first game that the young defensive tackle has played since suffering an injury against the Chicago Bears on November 23rd.

It makes sense that Austin is gushing over his rookie defender. The proof is in the pudding, after all. The Steelers seem to have found another potential star for their defensive line.

Steelers sign veteran CB

The Steelers have made a Christmas Day roster move, announcing the signing of veteran cornerback Tre Flowers to the 53-man roster.

— Pittsburgh Steelers (@steelers) December 25, 2025

Pittsburgh had an open spot on the roster after placing wide receiver D.K. Metcalf on the reserve/suspended list following his two-game suspension.

Flowers was a fifth-round draft pick in 2018 by the Seattle Seahawks. Since then, he’s appeared in games for six different teams. His best year came in 2019 in Seattle, where he started 15 games, logging 82 total tackles, three interceptions, eight passes defensed, and two sacks.

Most recently, he appeared in two games this season for the Detroit Lions, playing 11 snaps on special teams, where he has 1,181 career snaps.

Flowers has appeared in 97 career NFL games with 44 starts. The 6’3, 203-pound corner scored an 8.56 RAS coming out of college, with a 4.45-second 40-yard dash.

He should provide cornerback depth to a Steelers roster that has been thin at the position in recent weeks. Flowers can contribute on special teams as well.

Aaron Rodgers addresses DK Metcalf altercation, calls for higher standard of fan conduct

gettyimages-2243504664.jpg

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers spoke publicly for the first time about DK Metcalf’s recent altercation with a fan in Detroit, offering support for his wide receiver while also expressing disappointment in the incident and raising broader concerns about fan behavior in stadiums.

Metcalf was suspended two games after video surfaced of him swatting the face of a fan wearing a blue wig, who appeared to celebrate the encounter afterward. The suspension sidelines Metcalf for the team’s final two regular-season games against the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens—matchups that could prove decisive in Pittsburgh’s playoff hopes.

Aaron Rodgers on fan conduct at games: “I think there’s a mindset that you pay for a ticket, you say whatever the hell you want. I think there should be some sort of code of conduct. Obviously that was intentional and I think there was some celebration afterward in his part.” pic.twitter.com/4OC3Gkda44

— Brooke Pryor (@bepryor) December 24, 2025

Rodgers was firm in his stance that while he backs his teammate, he does not excuse the conduct.

“I don’t condone what DK did,” Rodgers said, and went on to say, “I support DK, I’ll continue to support DK. Disappointed that happened.”

Rodgers used the moment to speak at length about fan behavior and what he believes is an increasingly toxic environment at games.

“I think there’s a mindset that if you pay for a ticket, you can say whatever the hell you want,” Rodgers said. “I think there should be some code of conduct. Obviously, that was intentional. And I think there was some celebration afterwards on his part.”

The veteran quarterback added that players have long been subjected to personal attacks from the stands, but emphasized that the dynamic changes outside the stadium.

“There’s been some crazy comments said to me over the years. The truth is that would never happen face to face,” Rodgers continued. “Even some of the people that hate me the most in the cities that I’ve played against over the years, especially in the NFC North, it’s always pretty cordial when you see some of those people out and about.”

With Metcalf unavailable during a critical stretch, the Steelers will be forced to adjust offensively as they close the season with their playoff fate potentially hanging in the balance.

Friday Night Happy Hour: Twas the night after Christmas

gettyimages-2253046694.jpg

Welcome back to BTSC’s Friday night open thread.

  1. How was everyone’s holiday? What was your favorite moment from this Christmas and Hanukkah season? Did you get a cool gift? Have any special moments with family? Or did you bah a few humbugs?
  2. What’s your favorite Christmas movie of all time? Mine’s Die Hard, and I will not hear any slander about it not being a Christmas movie. It follows so many Christmas movie tropes, has the holiday central to its plot, and even has Christmas music! Case closed! A Muppet Christmas Carol, Jingle All the Way, and The Nightmare Before Christmas are a few of my favorites as well.
  3. Which Steelers would you put on the “Nice List” this year? Which ones are on the “Naughty List?”
  4. If the Ravens lose this weekend and the Steelers clinch the playoffs, how would you handle rest for the playoffs over the final two games? If Aaron Rodgers rests, how would you handle the QB situation? Should Will Howard get some reps to see what he’s got, or would those snaps best be used to get the primary backup — Mason Rudolph — some reps in case he’s needed in the playoffs?
  5. Song of the Week:
One last Christmas song to close out the season:

Steelers starter ruled out vs. Browns

1866274669.jpg

The Pittsburgh Steelers can clinch the AFC North before the weekend is over with either a Baltimore Ravens loss or a win of their own over the Cleveland Browns.

The Steelers will be going into Week 17 without edge rusher T.J. Watt, who will miss his third straight game following a surgery to repair a partially collapsed lung. Pittsburgh will also be without cornerback James Pierre, wide receiver Calvin Austin, and cornerback Brandin Echols. Now, the Steelers have ruled out a starter on offense.

Left guard Isaac Seumalo will miss Week 17 with a triceps injury. He was initially listed as questionable before being downgraded to out on Saturday. However, the Steelers did get some good news, upgrading Jalen Ramsey to have no game designation after dealing with an illness.

The Steelers have lost their last three games in Cleveland, and can reach double-digit wins for the third straight season if they end that streak on Sunday.

Steelers elevate 2 from practice squad for Browns game

gettyimages-2231352034.jpg

The Steelers elevated two practice squad players ahead of their Sunday matchup against the Cleveland Browns. The team announced Saturday that offensive tackle Jack Driscoll and defensive back D’Shawn Jamison will be on the roster for Week 17 and revert back to the practice squad following the game.

This is the third game Driscoll has been elevated for by Pittsburgh. He’s provided extra offensive line depth following the plethora of injuries the Steelers have suffered at the position. Now, starting left guard Isaac Seumalo has also been ruled out against the Browns.

A former Philadelphia Eagle, Driscoll has appeared in 67 games with 18 career starts.

Jamison has appeared in one prior game as a Steeler. He’s a slot-capable defender who could provide depth or even see playing time with Brandin Echols out for Sunday’s game.

Jamison has appeared in 16 career NFL games with no starts.

Report: Steelers didn’t void WR D.K. Metcalf’s guarantees

gettyimages-2253169271.jpg

When Steelers wide receiver D.K. Metcalf was suspended for two games following an altercation with a fan in Detroit, CBS Sports reported that language in his contract voided a combined $45 million in guarantees over the next two years. The would make it much easier for Pittsburgh to get out of his four-year, $132 million contract down the road.

However, reporting for FOX Sports on Sunday morning, NFL insider Jay Glazer said the Steelers decided not to void those guarantees.

“First of all, because he got suspended, the Steelers could’ve basically taken back all of his guarantees. They, however, have decided not to do that,” Glazer said. “They don’t want to do something that. They kind of want to make a long-term commitment to D.K. Metcalf.”

What will be the Packers' QB situation next week vs the Vikings? Also, the Steelers will not take away DK Metcalf's guarantees following the fan altercation in Detroit, and the latest on Maxx Crosby's frustration with the Raiders. @JayGlazer has the latest: pic.twitter.com/rdcpyeOAv8

— FOX Sports: NFL (@NFLonFOX) December 28, 2025

Glazer’s report appears to contextualize an earlier report from NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, which said the Steelers had reaffirmed their commitment to Metcalf following the suspension.

— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) December 24, 2025

Glazer also reported he had acquired a security report regarding Metcalf’s past complaints about the fan he confronted in Week 16 that led to the suspension. He said he would talk about it later.

Steelers-Ravens announced as Week 18 Sunday Night Football

gettyimages-2250558749.jpg

Week 18’s Steelers versus Ravens game will be a win-and-in game regarding this year’s NFL playoffs — and both teams and fanbases will have to wait until the very last game of the regular season to find out if they made it.

On Sunday, the NFL announced that Steelers-Ravens will kick off on Sunday Night Football on Jan. 4, with the usual start time of 8:20 p.m. EST on NBC. The Steelers will be playing at home in Pittsburgh’s Acrisure Stadium with the division title on the line.

There’s no Monday Night Football game Week 18, making the AFC North game the final matchup of the week.

Coming off an ugly loss to the Cleveland Browns, the Steelers will need to regain momentum against a Baltimore team that upset the Green Bay Packers on the road in Week 17. Pittsburgh already defeated the Ravens 27-22 earlier this season.

The game will mark the Steelers’ third appearance on Sunday Night Football this season. The team lost the first two.

On most sportsbooks, the Ravens have opened as three-point road favorites despite an unclear situation at quarterback.

Varsity and JV: Winners and losers from Steelers loss to Browns

gettyimages-2253833276.jpg

The Pittsburgh Steelers lost their fourth consecutive game in Cleveland in Week 17, falling to the Browns 13-6 in a game in which the Steelers could have clinched the AFC North.

Nothing is ever easy for the Steelers, though, so why would this be any different? There aren’t many Varsity names to cover, but be ready for a stuffed JV list.

Varsity

EDGE Alex Highsmith

Highsmith had a pair of sacks and filled in nicely for T.J. Watt as the No. 1 edge rusher. He also provided pressure on the Jack Sawyer interception.

EDGE Jack Sawyer

Sawyer picked off Shedeur Sanders and set the Steelers up in plus territory. Unfortunately, the Steelers thought launching a go-ball to Scotty Miller on 4th-and-1 was a good idea.

RB Jaylen Warren

Warren averaged over five yards per carry and was routinely cutting through the Browns’ defense. For some reason, though, the Steelers threw the ball 39 times instead of continuing to feed Warren, who was picking up good yardage every time he touched the ball. The Steelers had 131 yards on the ground, and probably could have doubled it if they had flipped the number of times they passed with the number of times they ran.

Junior-Varsity

QB Aaron Rodgers

Rodgers’ decision-making in big moments was baffling. The aforementioned go-ball to Scotty Miller on 4th-and-1 when he had Adem Thielien open underneath for an easy first down. Throwing to Marquez-Valdes Scantling not once, not twice, but three consecutive times with the game on the line, the last of which he had Kenneth Gainwell open for what would have been a walk-in score. He averaged just 4.3 yards per attempt and had a QBR of 19.6. I understand that DK Metcalf was out, but there were points left on the board that Rodgers was directly responsible for.

WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling

The buddy-ball with Aaron Rodgers cost the Steelers a potential win. Yes, he scored a touchdown against Miami, but Rodgers clearly pre-determined he was going to MVS in situations where he was covered by Denzel Ward, one of the best cornerbacks in football. I don’t know what Roman Wilson did to basically be scrubbed from the offense altogether, but there is no reason why he shouldn’t get more snaps than MVS in Week 18.

S Kyle Dugger

I know he made up for it with an interception later on, but Shedeur Sanders threw a hot air balloon up to Harold Fannin, and Dugger couldn’t track the ball somehow, which led to a touchdown for the Browns and proved to be the game-winning score.

Slow start

The Browns were leading 10-0 at the end of the first quarter. The defense was brutal and made Shedeur Sanders look like Brett Favre in the first 15 minutes of play. Putting yourselves in that big of a hole that quickly is tough to overcome when you aren’t a great team that can just flip a switch and come back.

OC Arthur Smith

Just run the ball, Art. The Browns couldn’t stop a run to save their lives. If you really wanted to prevent Myles Garrett from breaking the sack record (by the way, who the hell cares?), running it at five yards a clip feels a lot more efficient than throwing as soon as Rodgers touches the ball for a four-yard gain. The Steelers turned basic math into trigonometry offensively against a defense that has struggled with stopping the run.

HC Mike Tomlin

The Steelers are 0-4-1 in their last five games against teams with 8+ losses, which is the longest such streak in NFL history. There isn’t a more Mike Tomlin stat than that. But, of course, it doesn’t matter. He’ll be the Steelers’ head coach until all of us are in the ground, decaying, going 9-8 or 10-7 with no wins of importance until Armageddon, spewing empty, nothing quotes with ridiculous idioms while every loudmouth on every major network clutches their pearls at the completely fair suggestion of moving on from him. It’s an endless cycle that will repeat as long as Tomlin is the head coach, and one that will keep them in mediocre purgatory forever.

Hallelujah. Holy s—t. Where’s the Tylenol?

Steelers open as home underdogs to Ravens

gettyimages-2251086833.jpg

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ season comes down to Week 18, where they will host the Baltimore Ravens in a winner-take-all matchup where the winner will go on to host a playoff game wild card weekend, and the loser will see its season end. And despite being at home and sporting the better record, the Steelers are the underdogs in the final week of the regular season.

Per FanDuel Sportsbook, the Steelers are 3.5-point underdogs to the Ravens. Pittsburgh is coming off an embarrassing 13-6 loss to the Cleveland Browns, while the Ravens defeated the Green Bay Packers 41-24 off the strength of four touchdowns from Derrick Henry.

The Steelers won the first matchup between the two teams 27-22, and have had tremendous success against the Ravens at home over the last decade. Since 2016, the Steelers are 6-3 against the Ravens at Acrisure Stadium. Baltimore may or may not have Lamar Jackson under center, as his status is still up in the air after suffering a back injury against the New England Patriots.

Steelers get positive update on T.J. Watt ahead of Week 18

Pittsburgh Steelers edge rusher T.J. Watt has not played since early December, but may be in line to return to the field this week.

The 2021 Defensive Player of the Year suffered a collapsed lung the week following Pittsburgh’s defeat of Baltimore. A limited participant in three practices last week, the star sat out his third straight game as the black and gold endured a catastrophe in Cleveland.

Now, with the season on the line Sunday night, head coach Mike Tomlin revealed some promising news regarding Watt’s status.

Tomlin optimistic with Watt’s progression entering final game of season

Following Baltimore’s win over Green Bay and Pittsburgh’s loss to Cleveland, the AFC North is once again up for grabs entering Week 18. It is a winner-take-all contest, with one team advancing to the postseason and the other heading home for the offseason. With the stakes as high as they could be, getting Watt back into the lineup could be paramount for the black and gold.

During a press conference on Tuesday, Tomlin stated that the 31-year-old remains questionable; however, his day-to-day will be telling. NFL insider Ian Rapoport echoed the words of the Steelers HC in an X post.

“Steelers coach Mike Tomlin on TJ Watt (lung): ‘We’ll work him up over the course of the week and let the amount of participation and quality of participation be our guide. … I’m more optimistic than I’ve been in previous weeks.‘”

Amid Watt’s absence, Pittsburgh’s defense has still performed well, allowing 25 or fewer points in four straight games. While they did allow points on Cleveland’s first two drives Sunday, Teryl Austin’s unit put up a stingy performance the rest of the way, allowing just three more points for the Browns.

Emerging stars Nick Herbig and Jack Sawyer have been tremendous since the Wisconsin product went down, giving the veteran more time for a potential recovery. Similarly, Alex Highsmith has taken his game to new levels, posting 11 total tackles and two sacks in the three games Watt has missed.

Regardless of Pittsburgh’s strong depth performances, Watt is an irreplaceable player who could be vital if the Steelers hope to earn a postseason berth Sunday night. Steelers-Ravens kicks off at 8:20 p.m. EST from Acrisure Stadium with all the marbles at stake.

Steelers great Hines Ward misses out on 2026 Hall of Fame class

Another year of Hall of Fame eligibility will end without a gold jacket for former Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward, who wasn’t among the list of 15 modern-era finalists announced by the hall Tuesday morning.

Ward has yet to be a finalist in any year he’s been eligible.

However, it is a loaded class for 2026, with the remaining finalists being as follows:

  • Willie Anderson
  • Drew Brees
  • Jahri Evans
  • Larry Fitzgerald
  • Frank Gore
  • Torry Holt
  • Luke Kuechly
  • Eli Manning
  • Terrell Suggs
  • Adam Vinatieri
  • Reggie Wayne
  • Kevin Williams
  • Jason Witten
  • Darren Woodson
  • Marshal Yanda

Ward still has a strong case himself, with 12,083 career receiving yards, two Super Bowls (including an MVP), four Pro Bowls, and being widely regarded as the greatest blocking wide receiver of all time.

However, one former Steeler remains a Hall of Fame possibility in the 2026 class, with Steel Curtain great L.C. Greenwood being announced a senior-category finalist earlier this year.

The final Hall of Fame class for 2026 will be announced at NFL Honors in February.
