Dallas Stars Daily Links: Cardiac Hockey

I don’t know about you, but I’m not sure my heart can handle the kind of hockey the Dallas Stars are playing these days. I wrote a few days ago that “ugly wins still count,” and I certainly hold to that opinion. The Stars keep finding ways to grind out points. And maybe, just maybe, that’s all that REALLY matters. I will take ugly wins all the way to the Stanley Cup. That is…if my heart holds up…

Dallas Stars Daily Links: Clinched

After a week of “Cardiac Hockey”, as I referred to on Friday, it was nice to have a fairly straightforward win on Saturday. But not only that, thanks to a little help from the Edmonton Oilers, your 2024-2025 Dallas Stars are officially clinched for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. What a time to be alive. How far they’ll go? It’s anyone’s guess, but here’s hoping this is the year.

Stargazing, A Dallas Stars Puckcast – Episode 279: That’s Offensive

The officially playoffs-bound Dallas Stars always seem to have one player or another going off these days. If it’s not Wyatt Johnston racking up points like a veteran elite forward, or Jason Robertson regaining his scoring touch with a vengeance, then it might be Thomas Harley making a late run at the postseason awards with all the offensive-defenseman flair he can muster. But we are Stars…

Dallas Stars Daily Links: Within Reach

A couple of weeks ago, it did not appear that the Dallas Stars had any chance of catching the Winnipeg Jets in the standings. After tough losses to Edmonton, Winnipeg and Colorado last month, all of which are the type of teams Dallas will need to go through to reach the Stanley Cup, even attempting to do it seemed futile. Since that loss to Colorado on March 16, the Stars have won every game since…

Dallas Stars Daily Links: Beginning of the Benn-d?

Last night, Dallas Stars head coach Pete DeBoer sat Jamie Benn in what he called “maintenance.” Normally, this wouldn’t garner attention but two things: Could Benn’s absence last night be due to injury, illness or personal reasons? Of course (and probably is). However, leaving no stone unturned and shifting focus down another avenue, could this be the first occurrence of what will be the…

Dallas Stars Daily Links: Perception

At the end of last week, things were looking up for the Stars, who were in the midst of a seven-game winning streak as they were gaining ground on the first place Winnipeg Jets. Things changed pretty quickly, with a hard losses to the Pittsburgh Penguins and Minnesota Wild this weekend which have left fans with some concern once again as the regular season winds down. How much real concern is…

Dallas Stars Daily Links: Stars to Stars?

Teams of today will always be compared to teams of the past, regardless of the sport. That’s how standards are set and how judgements are made. The Dallas Stars have not won the Stanley Cup since the 1998-99 season, and for those who remember that year, that team was particularly special. DallasStars.com senior staff writer Mike Heika sees a similarity in this team versus the team that won it…

Dallas Stars Daily Links: Unprecedented

The Dallas Stars haven’t made their entire personality out of dropping the ball (losing the puck, whatever). Yet. But this late in the season, with difficult first-round match-ups looming around almost every corner, it’s a little concerning (and enormously frustrating) to see them do it three times in a row, at home. Last night’s 6-5 overtime loss to the Vancouver Canucks was the echoing…

Stargazing, A Dallas Stars Puckcast – Episode 280: Intrusive Thoughts

The Dallas Stars are pretty good at winning. They’ve even gotten good at winning games in which they didn’t play as well as their opponents. That’s one reason why it’s so frustrating to see the Stars’ vices become their manners…especially when they drop games that were in their reach. What does it mean for the 2025 Stanley Cup playoffs? Wes and Mark needed backup for this one…

Gameday: Stars face must-win against Jets

What was meant to be a high-stakes clash for the No. 1 seed, the Central Division crown, and even the Presidents’ Trophy lost some of its shine after the Stars’ stunning collapse on Tuesday. Dallas will host the first-place Winnipeg Jets on Thursday at the AAC, with puck drop set for 7 p.m. on Victory+. The Stars are still reeling from a brutal 6-5 overtime loss to Vancouver…

Dallas Stars Daily Links: Better Now than Later

For the first 15 minutes of last night’s game against the Winnipeg Jets, I was pretty positive about the Stars’ response to the debacle that was Tuesday. The boys in Victory Green were getting some decent looks at Connor Hellebuyck, there were some hits, and some all around feistiness that I hadn’t really seen in the last few weeks. Then Nino Niederreiter scored what looked to me in the…
